Pale white paws hit the ground without a sound, slow and slightly clumsy. An anklet of red, black and white feathers make a slight rustling every time the left front paw is moved, the only sound from this petite cub's paws. Coming to a stop, she flexes her claws, scratching at the dry earth beneath them.

She turns her salmon pink head from side to side as she surveys this previously unseen horizon, her crimson eyes darting around somewhat nervously. She'd never before managed to leave the Umande-mfuni lands without either of her mothers or her foster brother spoiling her intentions, and herding her back home. She was scared and excited and proud all at once, and the combination of emotions was causing her small white body to shake a little. Her tail wrapped around her right lind leg, the black tuft brushing against her paw. Her black tipped ears perk at the slightest noise, betraying her nervousness, despite the vaguely triumphant smile that stretched the muscles of her maw.

But there wasn't really much here, was there? It wasn't as interesting as she'd thought it would be, out here, where she'd been told she wasn't to go. There was no one around, and nothing to do. But her stubbornness would keep her from going home until her fear got the better of her or until she got hungry, or something similar.

Another cub, this one not nearly as delicately pretty-looking, was wandering the same lands. Her dark ears were perked forward curiously. Unlike the other cub, this one was all too used to wandering. Having briefly settled in the graveyard, however, she was growing bored of it's dark and depressing atmosphere. Hardly the place for a cub, really.

Amleth paused to scratch briefly at her ear before spotting the slightly smaller cub. She took a hesitant step forward, crimson eyes all curiosity. "Hello?"

Nyunya jerked a little, startled by the sudden appearance of this other cub. A rather... odd-coloured one, to be sure. The only dark-coloured lion she'd ever seen was her younger sister Asherah, and she'd always just assumed the black cub to be some kind of anomaly. But Nyunya was not the most observant little lioness in the world, hence Amleth's ability to have gotten that close without her even having an inkling that another was anywhere near her.

Recovered from the jerk, she puffs herself up indignantly - she doesn't like being surprised by others, despite it seeming to happen rather a lot - and fixes Amleth with her patented cub-glare, which wouldn't intimidate a bug. It's just screwing her face up rather comically.

"Hello," she murmurs in reply eventually. She couldn't not say it, despite 'glaring' at Amleth. Her mother wanted her to always have manners, and it seemed to be drilled into her brain now.

Amleth cocked her head slightly. "Are you mad?" She inquired, stepping forward to get a better look at the white and pink cubby. Certainly Ny looked angry, though the hyena-marked lion couldn't think of why that would be so. She seated herself, curling her tail round her forepaws and still looking curiously at the other cub. "Whatcha doin' out here by yourself, anyway?" she asked, taking an all-knowing tone. Certainly she was a bit older than Ny, and to her that seemed to make all the difference in the world.

This femme was quite nosey, eh? Ny lowered herself to her haunches, letting her tail flick around behind her. "I'm not mad," she says in a somewhat haughty voice, as though Amleth was dense for thinking it. Even though her 'glare' had said she was. In truth, she was a bit snappier and more impatient than usual. Her second mother recently giving birth to three cubs had thrown everything out of whack. They squealed all the time, and were constantly everywhere. She misses when it was just her, her mothers and Zimwi. She wasn't quite so impatient then.

"And I'm here because I'm here." As though that explains anything. Although, anyone who knows Ny will know that answers like that are pretty typical of the petite cub. Plus, answers like that usually stopped her having to think up a valid reason for being on her own, away from her mothers and her pride, which she wasn't very good at doing. She shakes the tuft of salmon pink out of her crimson eyes, fixing them on Amleth. "Why are you out here by yourself?" she asks, parroting Amleth's question back at her.

Amleth rolled her eyes at the other cub's answers, as though she was much, MUCH more mature than all that. "Right," she replied sarcastically. "And I'm here because I'm here." Her tail swished lightly as she considered the actual question, and she backtracked. "Actually, I'm here 'cause I'm bored. I don't really like the graveyard; it's creepy." She said with a sage nod. "Plus there's only ever mice to eat, and I don't like how they crunch." She lowered herself into a sphinx-like position, paws crossed almost daintily as she gazed back at Ny. "I'm Amleth, who're you?"

This cub's description of the Graveyard intrigued her, although she doesn't know what a 'graveyard' is. She doesn't really know much about anything outside her homeland. Her mothers don't want her leaving the lands, so never saw fit to explain about anything that lay beyond the boundaries. She wasn't even allowed near the boundaries, let alone past them. So, naturally, this fuelled her desperation to get past them, to see just what she wasn't allowed to. And so far, it had disappointed her.

"I've never eaten mice. My mothers catch rabbits, mostly."

She shifts her front paws lightly, brushing the right against the feathers of her anklet. She enoyed the sensation of them ticking her, now that she was used to it. "I'm Ny." A short pause, then she adds, "Nyunya." She was so used to everyone calling her Ny, or Nyu, that she sometimes forgot to refer to herself as Nyunya, even though she preferred that to her shortened name.

"You ought to keep it that way; mice are yucky." Amleth replied at Ny's comment about rabbits. "They've got this..crunchy weird texture and the tails are awful!" She made a face and stuck her tongue out to emphasize this point. "Gross."

"Hullo Ny!" The greyish cub responded, as though she'd completely forgotten that they'd been eyeing each other warily just minutes before. "That's a good name. Nice'n short. My friend Duhushi's name is so long! I can't even remember all of it." She grinned. "You should meet him! Cause.. you're pink, an' he's purple." Perhaps slightly flawed logic, but Amleth was eager to make friends where ever she could find them.

The sometimes haughty little lioness couldn't help but laugh at the other's comment about mice, and the way they tasted. It was an odd comment, to be sure, but one that amused her greatly. Things that may have grossed out others only got fascination and amusement from little Nyunya.

At what Amleth said next, however, she raised an eyebrow. They should meet because she's pink and he's purple? In what way did that make sense? "Where is he?" She glanced around, as though expecting this purple cub to suddenly spring out of nowhere so she could meet him.

Mtafutaj'duhushi hobbled slowly on the edges of their borders stopping every once in awhile to rest his painful limbs. His head was still buzzing with what Runai had said. Did he really loath the pride that much? His tail flicked in anger as he strode closer. Soon a familiar scent caught his senses.

Amleth...

His pace quickened when he knew it was her. He lifted his right leg in an attempt to move faster. His small body was becoming tired quickly and he was relieved when he came upon the two. "Amleth..." Duhushi stalked toawrd her and brushed against her side. "Where did you go last night?" His ears alerted him to the other female.

"Why hello my dear. Who might you be?"

Amleth tilted her head at Ny's apparent amusement, and was about to speak when she spotted Duhushi's noticable purple pelt moving towards them. She grinned and laughed, pointing towards him. "There he is!" she answered Ny, her ears drooping slightly as she noticed his hobbling movements. She pawed at his leg. "I just decided to wander a bit.. I got bored," she answered absently. "What happened?"

Turning back to the pink female, she grinned. "That's Ny! She is my new friend." Amleth nodded happily. She considered almost eveyone she met a friend, after having spoken to them for a minimum of a few minutes.

She blinked a little at Duhushi's sudden appearance, not actually expecting him to be here at this moment. So, he really was purple. She could add that to her list of things to wow her brother, Dharba, with. He hadn't believed her when she'd said that Rahima had a red pelt, hadn't believed that there was such a thing, and she had felt a little smug when she'd proved she was right. She'd enjoyed the feeling of being right. She hoped he'd doubt her again, so that she could find Duhushi somehow to show him.

She'd opened her mouth to answer Duhushi's question toward her when Amleth had spoken and introduced her instead. And were they really friends, after less than five minutes of conversation? Is that what being a friend was? Is that all it took? She'd never met any other cub - or any other lion, for that matter - who wasn't a family member, so she didn't know. She'd have to ask one of her mothers about it later.

"It's nice to meet you, Duhushi," she says, remembering the manners her mother had drilled into her brain.

Duhushi spoke softly about his hobble. He didn't want Amleth to be worried about him in that graveyard but she would pester him until he told her. "I was talking to a much older lion. We had a disagreement and he decided to throw me against the rocks." Of course he hadn't told her that he had bitten Runai and started it but he wanted to be the victim of the situation. "I was just collecting my thoughts when I noticed you my dear." He dragged his tongue slowly along Amleth's muzzle. "Don't worry about me though..."

His tail flicked as he watched Nyunya in the corner of his eye. "Yes. I'm actually purple. It's no illusion by the sun and certainly no trick. You can paw at me if you like to see that." He bowed his head in greetings. "It's a pleasure I'm sure."

"Ooohhh..." Amleth replied slowly, her features softening as Duhushi told his -slightly- altered story. "Does it hurt?" She asked in a concerned tone, nuzzling his chin slightly. She didn't really get why he was so "mature" all the time, acting protective and talking serious-talk to older lions, but she respected him immensely..and thought he was reeeaaal smaart 8D.

She laughed as he mentioned his purple-ness. "Ny won't make funna you, she's got pink on and stuff. Will you Ny? Nah, Ny's nice." Amleth said with a nod and a smile. Anyone who didn't attack her after 5 minutes conversation was a bosom-buddy. o.o

Thrown into a rock? Sounded painful. And what was with constantly saying 'my dear'? What was the point of it? Only her mothers - and sometimes Rahima - ever called her dear. She thought it was a family thing. She thinks pretty much everything is a family thing, basically, since Amleth and Duhushi are actually the first lions she's met who aren't family.

At Amleth's comment to her fairly unique colouring, she smiles and puffs the salmon pink tuft on her head for emphasis, something she does a lot, especially when someone refers to the colour. "No, I won't make fun," she asserts, although she mentally adds, 'unless you annoy me', all the while smiling pleasantly.
