Nyunya was currently sneaking out of the den she shared with her mothers and Zimwi, trying her best to go unnoticed. She knew she wasn't allowed out without supervision in case she got lost or hurt, but that only made her want to sneak out more than she had before. She was a born explorer, and snuck away at every opportunity. Mostly so she could chase bugs, as she loved to do.
On fairly silent paws she began the steady walk down the incline that led up to her home, stopping once she found firm footing on a flat rock that stuck out of the ground, taking in a deep breath of the clear, early morning air, her tail curling around her left hind leg, the black tuft at the tip tickling her paw a little. And speaking of tickling, those feathers around her left front paw were itching a little, too.
She lifts said paw, giving it a little shake, listening to the rustling of the feathers in the near-silence of the morning. Hm. Where to explore today? She mulled over her options as her crimson eyes scanned the distance. She just had to hope no one caught her.
[Ahem. That's rubbish, but I'm distracted by game. XD]

Zimwi scratched a bit at his growing mane. He was no longer the tiny, lost cub he was found by Denge as, but now a gangly juvenile. Didn't mean he wasn't still small, though. Even though Nyunya was a cub, she was slightly larger than him. Somehow...
With a bit of a yawn, he left the den, half awake as he went to get a drink of water. As he turned, his ears caught the sound of rustling feathers. He wouldn't have thought much of it, had it not been for the sight of Nyunya. Orange orbs blinked before the pale lion went up the slope, scrambling a bit.
Upon finally reaching the cub, he sat down, catching his breath. "N-Nyunya..." Swallowing down what saliva he could, he finally got his sides to stop heaving so much. "You're not supposed to be out here alone!"

Ny jumped. Literally jumped. Her front paws left the stone. What the hell did Zimwi think he was doing, sneaking up on her like that? Her little heart was racing a mile a minute, and she turned a cub-glare on him.
"I'm 'sploring!" she says haughtily, still a little miffed at being frightened. She wasn't the most observant cub in the world, that's for sure. And she does tend to hold little grudges, so Zimwi probably won't get much affection from her... at least not until later in the day. She showed little bits of her father's personality here and there, but thankfully, not much.
And with those two words, she jumps off the rock, skidding forward as she lands and even tumbling head over heels, before clambering to her feet and making a dash for freedom, towards the trees. She was not going to be stopped in her explorations today. No way.

He sighed. "At least let me go with you so you don't get hurt and stuck alone!" With that, scrambling a bit, he followed. His paws slid a bit as he tried to stay on them, but he ended up sliding a bit downhill on his rump, brush tangling into the slate-gray tail tuft.

She'd heard him fall, of course, and skidded to a stop to see what the damage was. A delighted little giggle broke from her maw as she watched him slide down the hill on his rear. Ny padded over to him on slightly clumsy paws, still giggling a little to herself, and nudged him, trying to help him stand.
"Ok?" she asked, a little concerned. Any 'grudges' she may hold against him for making her jump disappear in the light that he might have actually hurt himself in that fall, despite how funny it had looked. She's not all like Nyek.

Wobbling to his paws, Zimwi shook dirt and debris from his coat. "I'm okay, thanks." He nodded a bit. "And that's the reason why you shouldn't go places alone..." Pausing a moment, he stretched out his legs, hearing a satisfying pop from each as his joints popped.

She snorts as she turns, deliberately flicking her tail so that it hits him on the end of the nose. "I didn't slide down on my bum," she muttered as she began her little exploration into the trees. Oh, no, you just did a complete head-over-heels after you jumped off the rock. "If mama can go anywhere, why Ny not allowed?" she asks, somewhat grumpily, seemingly oblivious to the fact that she just referred to herself in the third person.

"Because even I'M still too young to defend myself against bad lions if they come around." He followed after her, brow furrowed. "And anyway... What if you got stuck in a hole? Or stuck in something else? Who would get you out if you were all alone?"

She stopped at that, momentarily stumped by these questions. She'd never thought of these things before. What cub did? She bites her tongue as she tries desperately to think of something to say to that.
"Well..." she murmurs slowly, "someone will see me and help..."
Vaguely satisfied with this answer, she continues on, but slower this time. She was, although she wouldn't admit it to him, looking out for holes and 'bad lions', even as her eyes darted everywhere at once, taking in the sights of the beautiful jungle.

The pale juvenile continued to follow her. "And if you were somewhere someone COULDN'T see you, or hear you?" Zimwi was a lion who lived with caution in his life, which was why he thought of such things even though he was so young. He'd learned early on how to be sneaky to avoid being chased, how to hide amid the brush, how to be silent in his stepping... Even now, he walked with the silence of one who lived life in such a way.

"Lots of lions here," she says dismissively, not even bothering to look back at him. She lived a sheltered life, that was for sure. She had no reason to be cautious, except when she was trying to sneak out from under her mothers' noses. "Someone will see."
She stops now, looking around her, blowing the faint tuft of salmon pink out of her eyes. Now she was lost. She wasn't afraid, just somewhat irritated that she didn't know the way to somewhere fun. Ny turned to look at Zimwi then, cocking her head to the side. "Show me somewhere fun, Zimwi?" she asks in a murmur, flicking her tail a little. Surely he knew of somewhere they could go.

"No gurantee. THey may be out hunting, or sleeping." His paws sank a bit into loamy soil. Hm... His ears flicked about as he looked around, then spied a semi-familiar path. "Ah, there we go..." Starting for it, he looked back. "I know a nice spot to swim. Not too deep that you'd drown. The deepest spot is just an ear's space from the top of your head when you stand on the bottom." The path wasn't too well worn, since likely not a lot of adults went down there, but since he'd discovered it a couple days earlier... It was worth it.

She had been about to argue with his first point, but then he'd mentioned this little place to swim. She liked the sound of that. One thing that always fascinated Ny was water, those few times that Denge had taken her to the waterfall. If she remembered the way, she'd have gone there... but alas... Ny wasn't the best at remembering trails, either.
She bounded forward, falling into step beside Zimwi and deliberately bumping his side playfully. She walked along with her head held a little higher than usual, just to make herself that little bit taller than him. She liked being bigger. She wanted to be bigger than Denge and Ithi, too, because, to her mind, when you're big, you didn't have to do what other people told you. Poor little cub doesn't realise that's not how it worked in the world.

The pale juvenile chuckled just a bit, ignoring the bump. Thankfully, the path wasn't steep, nor was it slipperly. It was also, for the most part, clear of clinging plants. The pool came into view, a perfectly irregular shape of water, with a perfect depth for cubs and juveniles to swim in. Not too shallow that they couldn't float, not too deep to where they could drown, for even a cub in the dead center standing on its hind paws would rise above the surface. Touching the water with one paw, Zimwi soon edged in.

With a rather delighted squeal, she padded toward the water and into it, lifting her paws up and bringing them splashing down, mindless to the fact that she's getting her pretty little feather anklet wet.
After a few moments of playing in this manner, now rather damp all over from her splashing, including her salmon cap, a little wicked grin stretches the muscles of her jaw. She lifts her paw slowly, the skims it over the top of the water toward Zimwi, deliberately splashing him with a little giggle.
