Profile: Quella’s a strange beast for a troll. She was raised by her pack, and never truly entered society. As such, she wasn’t brought up with troll media or the hemospectrum. All she ever saw from her packmates is that the strongest rise to the top. As the weakest member of the pack by far, she always had last pick of everything, and had to roll over for all of the members of her pack. It’s only recently, since she’s been able to best some of the weaker members of her family, that she’s been exposed to other trolls and the hemospectrum, and what she’s seen of it so far hasn’t been positive. It seems like a system where the weak can take places they don’t belong purely because of an accident of birth, while some strong trolls labor under their low blood colors. They don't deserve the positions they were given, and the hemospectrum is what keeps them there.
Due to her feelings about the hemospectrum, she often finds herself at odds with highbloods, and avoids them if she can. If it comes to conflict, then they’ll need to prove they can best her in the contest of their choosing. If they can, then it turns out they were meant to be on top anyway. If they can’t though, it just proves the hemospectrum is a shield that the weak can hide behind. She’s willing to help those she defeats improve, but not if they aren’t willing to improve themselves.
She doesn’t ever lord her blood color over lowbloods, instead expecting them to challenge her if they want to earn their place. It’s what she would do, after all. If they seem meek or unwilling to present a challenge, then she’s not very interested in them. They don’t want to improve their station in the world, then they’re just followers. Trolls with no drive or ambition are the worst of the bunch, simply scavengers to her mind. She’ll call out a troll that’s coasting on the work of others and put them back in their proper place.
Quella loves conflict. She relishes it. She’s not interested in bloodshed or hurting anyone, however. For her, it’s all about proving her superiority. Anything other than that is both dishonorable and poor sportsmanship. Her lusus wants her to deal with trolls more permanently - he’s not a fan of leaving enemies behind. Quella would rather call them rivals. Quella loves roughhousing, but doesn’t want to take it farther than that.
Quella is a very even-tempered troll. She takes both winning and losing in stride. She doesn’t understand mockery, or even how it works, so why would she make fun of another troll for their weakness? She hates it when people act above their ability, and will call them out if she thinks this is the case. Quella has immense respect for those who have bested her in a challenge, at least until she gets a chance to try again.
Quella doesn’t have a lot of spare time. Most of her time in the woods is taken up by hunting, or finding wood for a fire. She only uses what she’s been able to scavenge from her surroundings, so she has to chase down her prey herself. Because of this, she is both fast and strong, and has a good grasp of the woodlands around her hive. The small amount of free time she has is taken up with training at what she’s been bested in most recently. She’s always itching for a rematch.
The very small amount of free time she has is spent painting her hive with pictures of her exploits. She does this with a mixture of animal fat, plant dye, blood, and ashes. Quella isn’t the best artist, so her drawings are mostly pictographic. They’re just there to remind her of her triumphs, so they’re good enough for her.
Eventually, Quella plans to defeat Akurra in a fair fight. As the alpha of his pack, he is both tough and strong, but Quella is determined to take that position from him. This is the only way he will ever show her respect rather than the scorn and pity she is used to. Quella has a grudging admiration for his strength, but knows that eventually he will get old and feeble and her time will come.
Weapon: Quella uses a spear whenever she has to fight something. It’s an old, straight branch that she strapped together with a bone point, and it’s got some teeth hanging off of cords. She’s wrapped the shaft in cord where her hands go, so it’s a little easier to handle.
Appearance: Quella isn't interested in fashion. In fact, she’d run around naked if it wasn’t cold and trolls didn’t look at her funny. Instead she’s fashioned a coat and pants from the hides of her kills. Without anything to fasten her makeshift clothes on, they kept slipping off, so she found some old cloth with her blood color that had been abandoned and cut it into strips to tie everything together. She made her boots herself from hide because her feet kept getting scraped up, and she’s incredibly proud of them. Quella keeps her hair pulled back in braids so that it stays out of her face when she’s hunting.
She’s also taken trophies from some of her prey, and keeps them on cords looped around her spear and wherever else she can fasten them. She’s very proud of these, and likes to show them off whenever she gets the chance. She keeps the blood from her prey as well in order to make her hive paintings more vivid and lifelike, although it’s not as pretty as she would like.
Finally, Quella has been injured a few times by Akurra when she challenges him. When this happens, she’s been keeping plant dyes on hand. She rubs these into the wounds, and they stay under the surface of her chitin and make her blood color come out. This is how she got the markings on her face and arms. She wears these scratch tattoos like a badge of honor.
Powers: Novice offensive style A -
2X per battle: deal 1d6+1 damage automatically. Damage is also removed from HP total. Adept: X X XTeen Quella manifests the ability of Enhanced Body! Mechanically, this works as super strength, but it means Quella is faster, stronger, and more agile than even well-trained and conditioned trolls, and needs very little exercise to maintain her conditioning. She is roughly as strong as two adult trolls, and she consumes on average about three times the average calorie intake of an adult troll. This power manifested during her growth post!
Visually, she has uncommon grace and poise, and is also absolutely gigantic. Her powers may not be obvious at first glance, but become VERY clear upon watching her move, or especially fight.
