You are now in the lawnring of a giant hive, situated in the most expensive land-dwelling part of Civisect City.

Or, what used to be the lawnring. Visiting the Awassi hive estate is less eerie on paper than it is in person. The hive, which overlooks the sea by a sharp drop-off of cliffs, is unrecognizable from its former glory. A vast portion of the hive is still miraculously standing, even seeming alive as the wind blows through shattered windows. There is a grim certainty to how the hive sways that makes you uneasy.

The garden and lawnring itself is a unique patchwork of tragedies. Where the grass was once scorched and burnt, weeds and new growth has just started to emerge in unique patterns, stitched against grass that has been untended and left to run wild. In some places, the old lawn is waist-high, filled with strange seedlings and unique bushes. Topiaries that were once flawlessly manicured have been reclaimed by nature into huge shapes that are perhaps even more monstrous looking in appearance than if they were carved into place. They have begun to dwarf the iron gilded fence that overlooks the ocean as though trying to return.

A brawny, well-cut figure stands waiting near the scuttleway, looking with a rather arcane expression towards the hive. A long, shimmering black scuttlebuggy with an elongated wheel base is parked near by. Next to the troll sits a large black case. This must be the aforementioned supernatural specialist Glamis Harice.

Current Activities
Discussion Time!

How to Play:

Trolls may now gather outside the hive to confer with each other, trade items and discuss their next moves. This will be a free roleplay session with prompts for groups of trolls to submit whenever they are ready.

There will be two "waves" of summonings, happening consecutively IC, but simultaneously OOC to keep up the pace of the roleplay. In each "wave", one block in each Outgrowth will be targeted for a summoning. Your troll may be present at one of the blocks per wave, so they will be present for a total of two summonings. Choose wisely! The order of the summonings is as follows.

WAVE 1:
    1. Library (west)
    2. Nutrition Block (north)
    3. Armory (east)
    4. Ball Block (south)

WAVE 2:
    5. Basement (west)
    6. Dining Block (north)
    7. Training Block (east)
    8. Trophy Block (south)

Only one attempt per block may be attempted, so trolls will have to decide between themselves who will be present at the time of the seance, the location of the summoning, and which items will be used. A single guess will be cast between the group, which will either result in a success or failure.

When you have finalized your group and item composition, elect a troll in your group to post the following code. When all groups for Wave 1 have decided, the process will commence!
Trolls in seance group: [your names here]
We are attempting to summon: [name of banquet guest]
In the: [library, nutrition block, armory, ball block]
With these items: [your chosen items]
OOC Hints:
There are 7 items associated with each guest.
The location that the items were found may not be relevant to the item/its associated guest/etc.
There are 7 guests and 8 blocks. A guest will not appear in multiple blocks, but each block can summon an entity.

Recap:

Hearing tales of Erilyn Awassi’s fame, fortune, and wild parties used to be commonplace in Civisect City. It was an inevitability: if you were anybody who was anybody, your social mettle would be tested via an invite to one of their famous gatherings. Since Erilyn’s untimely demise, chatter about their lifestyle was snuffed out. Replaced by whispers and careful glances at the still-standing hive that loomed enormous and abandoned on the ocean cliffside.

The landscaping had been unattended and overgrown, while the huge skeletal remains of the hive had yet to be cleared for another shimmering socialite to come and take its place. The reason?

Paranormal activity has been on the rise in Erilyn Awassi’s mansion. Locals tell tales of screams and unidentifiable (but surely terrifying) sounds coming from within the walls of the lost home, and many fearfully report visions of phantoms and horrors beyond comprehension that emerge from even stepping foot near the site.

The effect of its nature as hotbed for ghostly activity and general reality as a fort for squatters and ne’er do’ells has raised an alarm with the Empire. As an incentive for interested military parties to clear out the rabble (corporeal and incorporeal alike), a message was sent out to attend a briefing by highly regarded supernatural specialist Glamis Harice. Naturally, the word leaked out to the media - soon, an additional incentive to the public sprung up: a reward for recording as much of the activity for research and entertainment purposes.

Signage claiming 'unique volunteering opportunities for civilians' joined the official missive for military operatives - and so, the game was afoot.

Spots limited and first-come, first-serve. An excessive amount of volunteers may cause the collapse of the foundation and result in death by crushing. Other wounds including supernatural ailments and illnesses/infections will not be covered by the Alternian Military or its associated specialists.

Quote:
=> If you would like to volunteer, answer the call. Meet with Glamis Harice outside of Erilyn Awassi’s burnt-out hive.

On a list of places Sarcel wasn't to revisit, this was easily at the top.

But as a Lieutenant, she couldn't really ignore a direct incentive directed towards the military. Ghosts were ultimately something she could care less about, but Awassi's derelict hive made her nervous (more from the memories than what could possibly lie in wait within). She wondered for a moment whether anyone else sporting rank would attend. Well, anyone else in addition to troll at her side.

"Seems as though we're the first ones here." She murmured to Nahori as she looked around, taking note of Glamis and everything else that wasn't the hive. At least she was sporting more casual attire--something more comfortable--although her military jacket still hung snugly around her shoulders. Consider it an article of comfort at this point. "Good evening, sir." She greeted her fellow blueblood with due respect, "Sarcel Cincil reporting in. I look forward to working with you." Amiable enough. She left it at that.

While Sarcel had the one up when it came to awful experiences in the Awassi mansion, Nahori felt not so far behind. Nothing significant had happened while she was inside—no deaths, anyway—but Nahori had been a young, very impressionable child then and the event stuck to her like glue. The ruckus and the gas alone were enough to scar her for sweeps.

"Seems so," she replied to Sarcel, finding it easier to mimic the statement than come up with anything on her own. The same went for the way she greeted Glamis. "Good evening..."

If nothing else, at least Nahori was standing up straight. She stood close enough to her blueblooded c/o that she felt as at ease as she could be, but at enough of a distance to be polite. These were things she learned from Guineamom. She tried to stare straight forward, as well, tried to keep her eyes from wandering, but they always found their way back to the old, empty estate. Ah, she really didn't want to go in there.

Eyzaak had heard about the weird going on during one of his trips outside the swamp. It seemed fairly promising, potential spooky happenings were just the thing to liven up a trolls night. So, he decided he would try and drag his newly acquired friend, Trevel into the mix. Trusting, of course, the purpleblood agreed.

As it turned out, it went better than expected.

The tealblood kid who was Trevel's shadow would stay home to watch his mansion, and Trevel would accompany him. Eyzaak was fine with that, he'd gotten his way after all in getting his friend to travel with him.

Only he wasn't sure what he was expecting once they got to Civisect City. Placing a hand on his hip, the young blueblood raised a brow as he glanced at Trevel. Pursuing his lips, he then shrugged as he rubbed his neck some. "Ey, do you think we will REALLY record some kinda ghosts or somethin'?" He asked the purpleblood, nudging him with his elbow as he gestured to the large Hive. Standing on the lawnring described in the missive, Eyzaak noted the place looked like s**t. There was no getting past that fact. The rundown, burnt facility was supposedly some famous trolls place. Whatever the case was, what was left was a run down old broken down dump.

Realistically, it was a perfect setup for weird stuff Eyzaak had decided upon first glance. In that sort of cliche, the stereotypical horror which he found amusing if his toothy grin wasn't evidenced enough.

Makkah Raynna

The camcorder's screen was a bit fuzzy, and she was surprised that the dusty old thing even powered on. Makkah had brought the janky old thing in hopes of capturing some genuine creepery like in her favorite horror movie, The Busthind Witch Project. Yup, she was definitely here for the opportunity of some spooky activity, and not just because she heard a certain journalist might show up to investigate any sick scoops there was to be had.

She slid one strap of her garishly bright colored backpack off her shoulder and let the other one fall right after, catching it in her hand and swinging it forward to face her. Putting the camera away, she saw the other essentials she'd packed. A make-up kit, a tattered sheet, and some fake purple blood packets. Just in case things needed to get more interesting, of course.

She zipped up her pack and tossed it back on, trotting over to the group that had formed at the entrance of the mansion. Her eyes darted across the crowd, hoping to catch a glance of anyone she recognized as she neared.

Mallok Ablonk

The greenblood approached the dilapidated estate with his usual cheery bounce. He'd decided to arrive separately from the group to make sure he'd have time to properly prepare the immaculate trail mix he'd prepared for their mansion wanderings. He saw a small group beginning to form and made his way to the man facing the crowd at the front.

”I suppose I should listen to what the ********' plan's gonna be. Wonder where the hell the rest of the crew's gotten off to?”

Glamis tipped his head to Sarcel, giving her a wave with the very tips of his gloved fingers. “Lieutenant Cincil. Glad to see some competents have arrived before the rabble. I’ve read up on you and am surprised, but pleased, that you’ve returned. Your presence here will likely spark some very unique paranormal activity.”

His gaze flitted over to Nahori, and he gave her an acknowledging nod of the head.

After a while, the rabble he’d spoken of arrived. He had expected as much - Alternian children, plucky as they were. So far a garishly dressed purpleblood and a juggalo; the kind he’d expect to see at such a…Media event. His lip twitched, and he smoothed out his moustache.

“Will your lusii be present?” He casually inquired to the two. Glamis didn’t care either way whether the wigglers lived or died, but if they were personally interested in staying pre-dead he might as well give them the benefit of a heads up.

Normally, Acteon didn't think they'd be one who was much for ghost-hunting but the more they thought about it, the more excited they got. What if they met a ghost? Could they learn to mimic the sounds of the supernatural? The blueblooded girl thought the opportunity was more than enough reason to go! And besides that, they thought about the thrills that were surely promised by ghosts, and their lusus pressured them to follow the entertainment route which promised lucrative reward if they were able to record and present evidence of the supernatural activity.

Though as it was, when they entered the lawn-ring, Steppy at their side, it seemed... underwhelming. The burnt out ruins of an old socialite's hive, overgrown weeds and a bunch of trolls they didn't care about.

Well, besides one they spotted. Good ol' Mallo! He was talking to the big blueblood, so they approached. "Hey hey, you," they said to the greenblood, giving him a firm pat on the shoulder. They looked to Glamis. "You're an expert right?" they asked, their little voice firmly their own for now. "I was wondering if you knew what a ghost sounded like? I can mimic any sound," they said proudly.

Dalema couldn't believe what she was going to do. Volunteer work never seemed interesting but, anything involving paranormal activities did! She had everything à young detective needed for this task. Flashlight, notes, pencils and homemade gadgets that'd help her record and catch anything that she'd want to catch. Her gadgets never failed! (60% of the time.)

Once she caught a glimpse of the supernatural specialist Glamis Harice, the child couldnt help but bounce in place and hop over to the adult. "I can't believe it! It's you, it's really you! Is there any troll who can take on this mystery, is you! The best supernatural specialist around!" The greenblood stood on her toes with a smile plastered on her lips. Taking her flashlight out, she asked "Can I please have your autograph?"

Psykgi Mentha

Though Psykgi was in her uniform and there officially (in her capacity as a member of the military and as a representative of the Rehab Center, because why not) the mission was more personal than anything. She looked out at the burned-out remains of the hive, the jungle-like lawnring and topiary, the suspicious shadows within...

She'd been in there, investigating a murder mystery. She'd been in there, trying to find a safe way out as questionable gas and very hot fires had left her vulnerable (well, vulnerable if Leeroi hadn't been there, of course.) She'd gotten kicked in the face by a certain greenblood - that was a memory that she wished she could sugarcoat. All in all, this place was pretty significant.

That wasn't why she cared, however. She was doing her duty... as a proud citizen of Civisect. Her city didn't need a gross-a** eyesore like this laying around, full of gog-only-knew what, and she had an officially sanctioned (and paid!) opportunity to clean it up, chase out the riffraff, and make her city an (even) better place. And by gog, she was going to get it done. Ghosts weren't her thing, but if they existed (and she wasn't one way or the other about it) they could get the ******** out too.

She pushed an unruly dyed strand of hair back into the pulled-back ponytail she (attempted) to keep it in when doing military things and approached Nahori and Sarcel.

"Sgt Mentha, reporting for duty."

Guo usually didn't get involved in the big things going on. Mostly because he was often grounded (even right now he was technically grounded. Technically) but also during those ra-ra unite for the betterment of Alternia gigs...he could playing new video game releases? He couldn't be missing that much.

Some news did manage to stir him from his apathy, though. News about the paranormal, a burnt down hive. 'Civilian volunteering'. AKA, he could stick his nose exactly where it didn't belong. And bother some ghosts. Maybe. Possibly? He'd done it before, he could probably pull it off again.

Of course Hogdad was still mad about his bogus prison stint. Yeah, it hadn't been smart and he was on some blacklists now, but he'd work it out. Honestly, the only reason Hogdad let him come was because he could volunteer and the military might notice. Or something. Whatever he BS'd to get his way.

Not that he wouldn't try to behave. He was already at the punishment pits and he had no interest in actually living there full-time.

Coming on the scene, he surveyed the mess. Hadn't been there the night it happened, you couldn't drag him to a ball where he had to behave if you tried, but he did kind of feel regret at not getting to see the results as they went down. Ohhhh well. The blueblood soon joined the growing crowd around the local celebrity.

He leaned an elbow on one of the kids, the pipsqueak who asked about ghost voices. "I know what ghosts sound like and I'm not even a pro. They're not that impressive, believe me. The real question is, can you punch a ghost?" he asked Glamis with a smile of shark-teeth.

Sephos Arbola

Sephos Arbola didn't read flyers, and he had managed not to hear about any haunted mansions, and they wouldn't have held any value for him anyway. It was just a coincidence that he was out in Civisect, in the high class areas, on his own, at the time of the gathering. Pure coincidence, the sort that was almost ridiculous, if he understood that idea.

It all started when someone he knew from his occasional Four Fronds gardening work asked him to do their second garden in Civisect. They'd offered pay, of course, but more importantly to Sephos (aside from the opportunity to plant things in aesthetically pleasing ways) they offered an opportunity for cuttings. Not that they'd said as much, but he usually took any interesting cuttings anyway and no one seemed to notice or care. He'd been to Civisect before, of course, and had found one or two places amidst it's constructed jungle of buildings and streets that he wanted to look into.

The client's second hive was in the higher-class district of Civisect. He'd planned out their garden for them, had explained it as best he could, had finished the plantings and landscape stuff he needed to do for this part of the year, somehow managed to work with and not against other trolls on their property, and had started a few cuttings (both of plants he'd found there and of the plants he'd brought with him) in the Lightseeker's greenhouse. It was good work, though he hadn't been just work. The rest of the neighborhood was inspiring, garden-wise and the seaside itself was fascinating. Especially the wilder areas and the dunes. So much water, so much sand, so much life, here and there in it.

Of particular interest was the abandoned, burned out hive overlooking a wide ocean view and a rugged cliff face. It looked so darkly wild, being consumed by the elements, and it made him think - fondly - of home. Tonight was the night he decided to go up there and take a proper look, and maybe some cuttings while he was at it. It was pleasing to see the lawnring so wild, so tall, so untamed. The grass wasn't so happy - it was the sort that really needed proper mowing for its health - but he appreciated it having its chance to grow. Shrubs and weeds were outcompeting it, though, nature taking back what it was due, and he could see the hedges looming up around it like monstrous and shadowy beasts, or a wall of pure plant. They weren't native to the seaside, specifically, but they were a hardy and aggressive mountain shrub and they were happy where they were.

Sephos took a cutting from one of them and tucked it away. He didn't have many samples of that species, after all, and it looked like something Rastin might like. As he walked around the outside a little more, he realized that there were other trolls gathering there. Surprised, he approached them.

And there he was; a Greenblood who had no idea what he was walking into.

User Image Avvisi Quills

Of course Avvisi was all over this event. I mean, who would not take advantage of this sort of opportunity! Besides, covering a big story like this? Yes, most certainly yes. So, Avvisi put on her most professional attire, rounded up some help, and set out.

Avvisi came to the location and looked around. There were far more trolls here than she would have preferred, but hey, competition was good, competition brought out the best in her. Avvisi had her basic stuff; recorder, notebook, basic camera, and her more exciting things; camera troll help, and professional microphone. Sure, her camera troll was more of a student in need of some work experience, but she would take what she could get. "Alright Carrel," Avvisi said in a chipper voice to her camera troll. "Get set up by the paranormal investigator, Glamis. Im going to scout around a bit." Of course, the paranormal investigator Glamis Harice was one of the most important people here. Also the one with the biggest crowd. It was okay tho, Avvisi knew having a camera crew and the like would give her an in.

First tho, Avvisi had friends. She walked up to Makkah and punched her lightly on the arm, winking at her. "Cant talk, doing work, excellent to see you tho!" Excellent, friend duties complete, now for her passion. The tealblood pushed through the crowd, "Excuse me, news crew coming through." She said as she pushed some trolls out of the way. She needed a clearing to get this interview under way. The tealblood nodded to her camera troll, stepping up to Glamis. "Hello, Glamis Harice, im Avvisi Quills. Im here from the Alternia News Blotter, looking for a quick interview." She gave the blueblood a T.V. quality smile. "Is it alright if i get my cameras rolling?"

Something like bile rose in Sarcel's throat, but she refused to let it show on her face. No, she wouldn't let herself read into that comment even though she knew exactly what it meant. Riling up her former childhood hero's ghost wasn't really something she was here for. On the other hand, maybe she'd get a chance to rub her new found military position in her face or something, like a take that sort of thing. Instead she winced inwardly at the thought, joking aside, scars were best left unopened.

Oh well. At least she was standing up straighter from Glamis' compliment, if nothing else. Unfortunately the number of volunteers that had amassed were... children, which was exactly what they needed roaming around Awassi's derelict hive. At least she wasn't quite at the level where she thought of them all as rabble. Trolls were excited about the prospect; Maybe she was just bitter.

Thankfully some older individuals were starting to arrive, and with it the sight of more military personnel, at least in the form of Psykgi Mentha. Sarcel had to admit, looking back at the time at Awassi's soiree compared to now, the redblood really had straightened herself out a bit. Her blueblood moirail too, at least from what she could glean.

"At east," She addressed Psykgi formally, but not sternly, "Glad to see you could make it, Sergeant" And that much was true considering the civilian population that had showed up. They were going to have their hands full keeping everyone in line, especially if it was just the three of them representing the military.

Sarcel gave another sidelong glance at Nahori. She knew the lowblood wanted to be here about as much as she did.

"I'm sure we'll be briefed... eventually. Feel free to mingle--take stock of the volunteers we're going to be working along side with." Sarcel was watching the kids as they swarmed their blueblood guide. She had nudged herself away at this point, though she was still within proximity to the rest of the group. Avvisi showing up furthered the urge to back off even further though; damn media...

User Image Static Charge

Static was glad there was finally something he could do concerning military participation. He felt so... blaw after the excitement of going out into space. Everything now just felt so... normal. At least now he had something else to focus on, something that might even help his career. He wanted to do well in the military... impress Mahmud... be a troll the brownblood could feel pride in... in... being friends with. It still felt so odd that they were maybe sorta boyfriends, like it was too good to be true. Well, here was a good distraction from feelings and the like. Static saw the crowd and hesitated on greeting the great Glamis Harice. His eyes went elsewhere and suddenly his posture straightened. Lieutenant Sarcel Cincil. Obviously one of the coolest trolls he had heard of.

Against his better judgement, the blueblood approached the Lieutenant. "Lieutenant Sarcel Cincil!" Static said with a salute. "I look forward to being under your command for this, um, this mission." The younger boy said, feeling himself start to sweat.

Trevel approached the estate with Eyzaak. Why had he agreed to accompany him? It's not like Eyzaak did anything that was actually fun or entertaining. Still, the idea of the paranormal had peaked his interest... even if this s**t wasn't real.

He looked at the estate and it's more than run down state. What an absolute mess. He noted the way the area outside looked as well as the trolls that gathered. This was all going to be a bust, ghosts aren't real.

The purpleblood looked to Eyzaak with a bored expression, "Of course not, don't be foolish." He answered, sliding his hands through his hair. "This better be more entertaining than last time." He added... last time, he had to bail his servant out of kid jail... This better be different.
