 Nasir Vasile
KIND-HEARTED COOK With a love for cooking, Nasir finds himself at home in a kitchen. In there he can make food for those he cares for and help ensure that they never go hungry. It's all just another way to help him look out and take care of others. From the rowdiest biker to the hopeless student, Nasir will help if he can.
VAGABOND HEART From a family that believed in communal living as well as never being stationary for too long, Nasir never stayed in one place more than a year and sometimes for as little as a month. It has left him without a true sense of home even if he has a strong belief in family (as his family is large and welcoming and will always take care of you if you need it). As he got older he found that while he cared greatly for his family, not having one place to call home or even that many belongings weighed on him greatly.
At one point his family settled briefly in Ashdown. Here he discovered that he was nothing like other people his age. It bothered him because for as diverse as his upbringing was, it left him feeling very closed off from the possible social bonds outside of his family. He saw the chance to break out on his own when they decided to leave and he did not want to. More than old enough to be out on his own, with plenty in the town to keep him occupied (including going to college which was a big deal for him), he quickly found a place that he could stay and, maybe, call a true home.
Nasir worked as a cook of varying degree in various restaurants all around Ashdown to help pay for college (along with college loans, pls help him) and is currently still attending.
It still weighs on him sometimes the way that he was raised. Sometimes his friendliness and openness is odd, especially when it comes to strangers. He finds himself at home in large groups despite preferring smaller one on one sessions. Not that this stops him from reaching out and forming friendships (but sometimes he does get tired from too much socializing). Never mind that the young man can definitely smooth things over with the great food he can make. Need snacks for that party? Talk to Nasir and he might be able to help you out!
JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR
(dreamer power) When it comes to the kitchen, Nasir always seems to have just what he needs on hand to finish the dish he's cooking. Even when he thought he was going to run out, there's just enough to get it out to the table and be amazing. (The food being amazing has nothing to do with his dreamer power, he's just a great cook.)
EMPATHIC HEART
(riser power) When making physical contact with someone and having an intent to help them, Nasir is able to ease the emotional burdern of the person he is touching. This manifests as Nasir actually taking some part of the person's emotional state into himself, feeling it as if it was his own (and likewise having to process the sudden emotional spike). For the person he is helping this can offer a moment to see past their emotions and find a brief peace.
HELLO MY OLD HEART
(beyonder power) Nasir's abilities as an empath have grown. Now not only able to sense and feel the emotions of others as if they were his own, he's also able to hear the associated thoughts of an emotional state if he focuses on an individual. This manifests as an echo of the person's voice that only he hears, sharing something tied to the emotional state they are in. (Player permission caveat in place.)
SQUIRRELY CONNECTION
(warg riser power) Now that he's a Riser, Nasir's able to communicate with his familiar Trouble. Not that Trouble really is that great of conversationalist or that he focuses on anything for very long but Nasir is thrilled he can communicate with him all the same.
TROUBLE AWARENESS
(warg beyonder power) Nasir is able to sense Trouble's presence up to five miles away and across the divide between the worlds. This comes with a knowledge of Trouble's general state of being as well as the ability to draw energy from his familiar. Trouble makes a pretty damn good spy now when Nasir has the need.
IT'S A WIDGET
(spring challenge month power) You now have a small possession which, when played with, proves immeasurably distracting to the people around you. "Possession" is not a euphemism. In Nasir's case, this is currently a set of Baoding balls that is both musical, soothing, and distracting.
FAIRY TRAILS
(bonus power) With a specific set of hand gestures, a destination in mind that he's familiar with, and intent, Nasir is able to create a sparkly trail of glow that leads him to where he wants to go.
 ANYTHING ELSE?
- early twenties, 5'11", mixed middle-eastern descent, whiskey brown eyes, black hair, with an influence album here. his face cast is miles frank (a model and drummer apparently). nasir, of course, tends to NOT BE SCRUFFY like miles does.
- the new cook at darlene's and it's his first real chance to showcase his ability to cook
- has kind of found a home with helping around darlene's and working with borr. ttly makes him feel better about staying.
- let me tell you, this man can cook. he is amazing. you have no idea.
- might eventually decide to go off to a real culinary school but until then happy with working towards a math degree so he can one day run his own restaurant.
- most likely to give you a free meal if you're down on your luck
- is roommates with wil azevedo. who also makes his time here well worth it.
- currently living in a house off campus with wil azevedo (boyfriend) and alexis tucker (bff).
- is well aware that most would say that wil takes advantage of him. will just ignore any comments regardless. nasir is not stupid, he's well aware, but somethings just are and the friendship with wil is one of those things. |
