Nasir was on his way through the park, trying to figure out which particular place Wil would be out at for this installation. His messenger bag was on his side and he was pressing his glasses up on his nose a moment. At least until he spied someone sitting on a bench, sighing dejectedly as they poked at PB&J sandwich. He waffled for a moment, briefly thinking that he should really find Wil but they looked so sad about that sandwich. He couldn't resist. He couldn't. "Hey," Nasir said as he approached. "Hi." There was definitely an air of tasty absolutely delicious things all around him as he approached the bench. It was probably because he had two bags of food on him.

Alexis just kind of looked at their sandwich with a morose expression somewhere between 'disappointment' and 'i can feel the void coming for me, it's like seven feet away'. It wasn't like they exactly disliked peanut butter -- they liked it, usually - but they'd used peanut butter that was about a week from being outdated, and they didn't even like blueberries, so god only knew why they'd made this particular sandwich. (The residual conditioning from prior datemates that said 'Alexis, please eat even if you don't want to, and do it on a regular schedule or you will die', probably. But they didn't have to be happy about it.) So when Nasir arrived, they gave an incognito sniff, perking up and trying (mostly successfully) to disguise the action. "Uh -- hey. What've you got there? It smells real good." Alexis looked again, morosely, down at their own excuse for a meal. "'m not askin' for any or any of that -- that'd be rude, just -- ugh. Sorry. It's a s**t morning to talk." They facepalmed, eyes squeezed shut in exasperation, and waited for the void to come.

"Fresh pastries I just baked and a couple roast beef sandwiches." There were drinks as well but Nasir definitely had that delicious food smell going on for a reason. He gave them an easy smile. "It's not rude at all. If you think it smells good, I'm doing something right." He seemed to shift their for a moment, watching them and their reactions. It's clear to tell that their definitely not feeling their own food and, really, that peanut butter looks old. Nasir is silent for another beat, not even hesitating in the next. "Want to try one of the pastries out? I sometimes help out at Honey Pop! and this was a new recipe I tried out." Accepted fact: Nasir would give food to anyone who looked like they could do better with it than him. He did not look like he had missed a few meals, but this person ...

Alexis shifted in their seat, giving Nasir a hesitant smile when he offered them food. "Uh, yeah, sure...! If you don't mind, I mean." They pushed the sandwich back into its' plastic bag, pushing it to the side. "What kinda fresh pastries? Uh - fruit, right? 's a dumb question, I know." Their smile turned into a self-deprecating grin, half-forced. "I eat like s**t, I don't know s**t about food."

"=I wouldn't mind the opinion of someone I've not had eat my baking before." Nasir is setting both bags done. Out of one he pulls out a small container, inside are a few small berry tarts. They were clearly made to be some kind of display piece for the store he mentioned but he had kept a few for himself and Wil. He pops open the container and offers it out to them. "It's fresh blackberries and raspberries on top." He gives them a grin and then laughs. "You're not the first person I've heard say that and probably not the last. It's really hard to know the right things to eat unless you're into that kind of thing." Either the cooking thing or being a mother hen thing or the Nasir thing. Definitely the Nasir thing. Daekie no apologies! sorry i took so long! meta + work + sick has eaten my braaaaaain.

Alexis barely keeps themself from flat-out drooling -- god, those tarts look so very, very good; especially given that they really haven't eaten yet today. (Half an energy bar doesn't count. If it doesn't taste like much of anything, it's not proper food.) "Uh, yeah-- I'd love to try 'em!" They practically snatch the container out of his hands, but take a minute to eat the tarts slowly; savoring them, giving them the proper respect they deserve. ...and a slow look up at Nasir later: "These are really good, holy s**t."

Nasir's smile widened at Alexis's reaction. He loved it when he got to see people's honest reaction to the food he made. "Thanks," he replied, reaching for one of the other bags. "You probably shouldn't just eat sweets but-" A to-go container with a roast beef sandwich was slid towards them. It was still warm. "I've got a second one, so you can have this one."

"I eat everything," Alexis shrugged dismissively, wiping their mouth of crumbs before going directly for the sandwich like a starving dog. They talked as they peeled the container open, to fill the open space. "How much food d'ya just walk around with, huh? Seems a little weird to walk around with halfway to a full meal."

"Well, that means you must try everything?" Nasir watched them as they tore into next bit. Clearly they were hungry and- Well, he could never not do the thing that involved sharing food. "Oh," he looked a little sheepish at that, scratching at the back of his head before his fingers were playing with one of the barrettes in his hair. "I actually keep snacks on me at all times? Wil is doing art installations here in the park and I bring him things to eat."

"It's good t'know I just met the second coming," Alexis said -- or it sounded like that through the mouthful, anyways; they ate like someone who had never had enough and expected it'd be taken away. It was somewhat depressing, really. "Who's Wil? 'm new in town." azuredreams tags? what the ********. what the ******** is a TAG

Nasir just chuckled, shaking his head a bit. Second coming. What? Wait, was that a religious thing? He wasn't. "Wil Azevedo, we live together. He's an art student, I'm ..." He trailed off a moment. "Mathematics." Sometimes it was weird to say that. People never expected it and Wil was the one who handled the house finances anyway. "Anyway, it's his senior project and he's putting up all these art installations around the park. Little figurines in mock wars. "When did you get into town?" Nasir actually had moved in over four years ago. Daekie lol, but it's still a good damn tag!

"Haven't met the guy," Alexis shrugged, "but probably wouldn't like him all that much. I don't do artsy." (Except for the one time they had, and it had been so good, the best relationship of their life, with a goddamn poet - but. Well. That was long in the past by this point. People moved, and people moved on.) "Eh. Late February? Couldn't give you a specific date, I'm crap at dates. But I've been here for a few months, not too long. Still couldn't say if I'm gonna be stayin'." azuredreams /DRAGS MY BLOODIED BODY INTO TOWN, FIFTEEN YEARS LATER

"You might, you never know." Most either loved or hated Wil. There really was not an inbetween. "Part of the reason why he's doing the installations is because he's wanting to bug one of the officers at the department. Especially since he got the proper permits and everything to put them up." His head tilted, looking at Alexis a moment and then nodding. "It's a good town, if you can find a place for yourself in it. I like it here." Nasir looked down at the container of food briefly. "You must've gotten here right before that fog rolled in in March, yeah?" The one that had seen him stuck at Darlene's over night. Daekie let's be POS TAGGERS TOGETHER, DAEKIE.

"I don't really work, so -" Alexis shrugged. "I didn't notice the fog all too much. But yeah, I moved here before the fog got crazy bad." They snickered at the mention of bugging the officers, though. "Not a fan of cops? I take it back, we might get along. ******** don't like me much; n' the feeling's mutual."

"I got stuck at work when it happened," he told them. Nasir leaned back, scratching at his cheek a moment. "... not so much not a fan as I'm pretty sure one of them is allergic to Wil? And, uh ... well. That doesn't exactly endear an officer to you."
