Nasir had just barely heard about Zac and Detective Mercer's reappearance when he got a text from the other young man. They had talked earlier, over the phone and in person, about the room Wil and him had available but it had not been a solid plan. He pulled into the parking lot of the police department, not even ten minutes after getting off the phone with Zac. The car was put into park, the ignition off, as he opened the driver side door. When Nasir had found out that Zac was not staying at his home for the night he had immediately just offered to have him go ahead and move in now if he wanted. Not that he knew why the other young man was not staying at his home with Detective Mercer (learning that Zac was practically the man's via the news had been something) but he would never not help. That included picking someone up late at night so they could move in.

Zac looked – tired. Maybe that was how people looked if they had been lost in the woods for seven days, He had a duffle slung over his shoulder and there was a slender white foot sticking up over one shoulder. It might take a moment to realize but the truth behind the random appendage was at least less gruesome than what Zac had seen with so many others in Other Ashdown. This particular foot was attached; its owner was just using his Hood as a hammock. He waved a hand at Nasir with a slightly shy expression. He’d not done anything remotely close to this since the days when he had moved in with Detective Mercer, first unofficially, then rather formally with his mother’s blessing. “Hey… thank you got picking me up. I really appreciate it.” He said shrugging to make sure that his duffle didn’t continue it’s slide off his shoulder. ‘Detective Dad’ was still inside, having spared Zac further questions by letting him go. But he still spared a glance back over his shoulder with a soft sigh. “I am wiped.” He admitted “I … I really do appreciate this.” He added again.

Nasir was blinking a few times, trying to figure out the white paw, until he realized - as he got closer - that there was an entire cat attached and it was in Zac's hoodie. "It's no problem!" He smiled, warm and friendly. Glancing towards the department doors, he looked again to Zac. The other young man looked tired, a bit thin, and definitely in need of sleep. Maybe warm food. Hot cocoa, crossed his mind. Perhaps that would be good. "You ... well, you were lost and it looks like you haven't even slept ..." Nasir did not think twice about holding his hand out to take Zac's duffle and throw it over his own shoulder to carry it. "No appreciation needed! If you're hungry, I've got some things I can warm up for you when we get to the house." A warm brown eye glanced towards Zac. "Hot cocoa if you'd like as well!" He was heading them back to his car, keys pulled out and the button pushed for the trunk to open up.

“Um… I forget if I asked but…Cat’s are ok…right?” Zac asked hesitating. Food…still sounded amazing. He’d eaten some earlier of course but, there was something so much better about being home and eating. “…Food um, food sounds amazing, I brought some tea in my Bag if you or anyone else likes it?” His hoodie…squirmed and a cat’s head, peeped out over Zac’s shoulder and gave a small curious chirp. “Um…yeah, cat in my Hood Is Mogget, he’s … he’s really good I promise. I won’t let him stink up anything and uh… yeah, he’s really good about not shredding things. Just… mind your um, mind your cereal milk. He followed to the trunk to cautiously rest his bag against it, waiting to hear (probably again) if cats were okay. Allergies would suck.

"Cats are totally fine," Nasir did not miss a beat, that duffel scooped up and put into the trunk. When Mogget gave that curious chirp, he was leaning forward to wiggle fingers at him in greeting. "Any food allergies I need about? So I can know as I do most of the cooking at the house." He glanced up from Mogget. "... and totally welcome to add the tea to the house selection. I buy from that new place that opened up in town!" Nasir was warm eyes and a warm smile all the time. "Also if he likes cereal milk, that's not a problem."

"No, no food allergies but if I fake an allergy to Brussel sprouts and Liver can we fake it?" It was a semi serious joke, he'd even tried 'blood pudding' to be fair, which was also really not as bad as he thought it was going to be from the name... but yeah... he could just not get around the idea of liver, and well... Brussel sprouts were... not... his thing, at all. "I um... I know how to cook a few things so I can pitch in on that front at least? and I have some teas from over the pudd... from England." he said correcting himself because he almost said it the way Jeremiah would have. "That new place, it looked really good though." He admitted. "... I heard the candy shop does some kinda mixer with them... product swap or something?" He wasn't so much into sweets for himself but.. he DID know that a certain someone liked them.

"So no organ meats or brussel sprouts?" Nasir chuckled. "I can remember that. Just let me know if there's anything else you prefer to not eat, I'll spare you." The almost saying across the pond had his lips twitching up into a smile. Mostly because he had, on the occasion, heard it said by Detective Mercer while he was at Darlene's and drinking with husband ( they had to be married, had to be). "You can help, if you like, I've actually been teaching Vesper to cook when she's around." Nasir paused. "You'll be sharing the floor with Vespertine, hopefully you don't mind. She's an art student like Wil." Except not. "Oh it's amazing. The tea selection was great and I actually bake a few things for the candy shop sometimes!" Nasir forever helping. He wiggled his fingers one more time at Mogget before he was placing a hand against Zac's back and pushing him towards the passenger side. "Get in so we can get back to the house. Before you collapse." The car beeped, the doors unlocking.

"I mean... I'm ok with things like...gizzards in gravy but...LIVER" He said with an rather over the top shudder, he did start slightly at the hand on his back but did go with it... sliding carefully into the car as not to jostle his own passenger. "I'm not going to collapse." He added, slightly defensive but... he was tired. The idea of a good BED and hopefully a night sleep that didn't have him dreaming about disjointed libraries and disembodied feet would be... really nice. "What do you make for the candy store?" He asked as soon as Nasir was settled, and during which time Mogget was crawling down over his shoulder, a production of stretched out limbs sliding down Zac's chest and catching on fabric that formed the front pocket of his hoodie, followed by a cautious back foot plant on his shoulder, and a rather targeted final landing on Zac's lap that had him making a small pained sound, one however that said he was on some level accustomed to this treatment from the cat, and perhaps should have helped the cat to his lap rather than making conversation.

"Is it the iron taste? Some people cannot stand it." Nasir was honestly curious. One of the things he liked to do was find out what people did not like about foods and then see if he could work around it. Not that he really had a lot of guinea pigs (he did, that was a lie). "Sorry," he replied as he got into the car and started it up. An amused glance was given towards Mogget. "You do look very drained." His head turned to look behind him as he was backing up to pull out, one brown eye cutting to look back at Zac. The pained noise got a look but it also looked like it was an old game to the cat. "Ah, sometimes cakes and pies? Pastries too. When I have the chance." The things the owner could do with decorating them was kind of amazing. Nasir could do some of it but he did not have that art skill for it.

"Mogget... would you settle?" He demanded of the cat before answering, Mogget was having none of it mind you, it was a new vehicle, and a newer person and it was terribly interesting! "It.. its something between the smell and the texture and the taste." He admitted. "And yes ... I tried it in the ...milk and that was just..." he shook his head. he'd have to admit he was tired enough that he was too tired to find the words. He rubbed at his eyes before glancing over impressed. "Are you the one who did those um... She did that window display that was like... all the chocolate animals including that...whale I have no idea where the form came from for that but that was huge. But um... did you do that crazy cake? She had this egg cake with the hollow in middle like one of those sugar eggs."

"No worries, it makes sense to me what you're saying," Nasir's lips twitched up into another smile at Mogget as he squirmed. For a moment, with just one hand on the wheel, he wiggled his fingers at the cat until he would sniff and follow them. "You can come over. Just stick to the shoulders, okay?" he spoke to Mogget like he was a person, obviously. "I'm trying to drive." It was apparently all Mogget needed because next moment he was out of Zac's lap and climbing up the driver's seat and settling into the space between Nasir's neck and the headrest. His tail curled against Nasir's chest as Mogget started to nose at the man's hair. There were so many interesting smells! Also there were things in his hair. Mogget was giving the barrettes and clips that held Nasir's hair in place a very serious inspection. "I helped with that," Nasir admitted there might have been a blush but it was hidden in the dark, "and it took a couple tries to get them to look right. The cake?" He blinked. "Ohhh! Yes, that one! I did that! Sometimes she'll help with the forms or I'll get Wil to help me. I can bake and cook but art is not something I am good at."

“Wow…” Zac said after a moment, thinking back to the display that he had brought up. “You guys work well together.” He said admiringly. “… Man… He really likes you.” He added after a moment, he had to admit he was feeling VERY… awkward with social anything right now. “So um… how did you like that uh…that fog.” He said. He didn’t remember seeing Nasir in the ‘other’ town so… fog was the only safe topic. After all, he’d - as far as the public was concerned been lost in it, and the woods. “I had a hard time seeing um, trees for as thick as it was, and that was pretty challenging given uh…yeah.” He felt awful lying but, maybe he could just be a bit vague.

Mogget was trying to catch this one sparkly barrette in Nasir's hair, daintily getting a claw under it and tugging enough that ... There! It was free! It was, of all things, a cupcake hairclip. ... that smelled like cinnamon. Nasir was laughing at that then blowing air at the piece of hair that fell into his eyes. "I like working on projects with other people, especially when it comes to cooking. Especially since school is all ..." A small huff. "Not cooking." Not with his major. He glanced over at the mentioning of the fog and the hard time that Zac had. "Ah, ended up staying the night at Darlene's with some others. Wil was there too." Honestly he had not wanted to leave the other young man alone, not after that questionable reading that he had given. The one that had been bad, bad, and then more bad. "I can only imagine it was worse to be in it and lost in it."

Mogget set forth, to do his enterprising best to eat the hair clip. The small clicking sounds as his teeth clacked against plastic and metal “I don’t suppose you play chess?” he questioned, though he could at least play when he was at the bookstore. Still, it would be nice if his new, temporary housemates could play as well. “As for the um… lost it was…” He trailed off and gave a small shrug. “…Strange, it was really ….” He fished for words that wouldn’t be a real lie. “Sounds were creepy, like you didn’t know what made them even if they seemed mundane. Scream like sounds and… ambient noises, Trying to get anywhere was guess work and you just had to hope you weren’t going in a circle. “

Nasir seemed completely unphased by Mogget trying to eat his hairclip but he did raise a hand to scratch at him a moment before he had both hands on the wheel again. "I actually prefer GO." Which had him looking a bit sheepish for a moment. "I'm not that great at chess but I can play a mean game of GO." It was odd, really, but he sometimes had a hard time wrapping his mind around chess but the other game he was able to play with some level of ease. "... and I get that, I really do. When we were at Darlene's there were just some things that normally would not have been creepy but then were." The turn signal was flipped on and he made a turn a few moments later. "I bet it was worse out in the forest. Even if you were with the detective." Then, because he thought about it. "... does he know you're staying with us?" Nasir had this look on his face. "He's not particularly fond of Wil."
