The bar operated at regular hours regardless of weather. Darlene's had been open until 2am and with March Madness bringing in small groups of college students to watch the games and drink, the no travel ban had ended up a real inconvenience to anyone who didn't want to walk home alone.

Borr himself stayed overnight and offered the bar to those who may want to sleep. The booths were comfortable enough and he'd found blankets. The cooks were there, and a waitress or two, as well as a couple customers and stragglers who had come to hang out and just didn't want to be alone.

In the morning, the smell of breakfast filled the place and when Borr (who didn't sleep much due to his need to look out for everyone) roused himself to let the dogs out, he came to the realization that the fog hadn't gone anywhere.

He stood at the front windows, looking out, Dummy and Knucklehead on either side of him, and hand stroking his beard in concern.

PRETTY MUCH ANYBODY!!

This RP could venture out from the bar, but anyone who wants to stop by, come for brunch, or wander past is welcome to join the group! Anyone who may have come by last night and stayed over is also welcome !! (including employees ;D )

Nasir had been there since his shift the previous night. With March Madness going the wings, along with some other staples of the Darlene's menu, were flying out of the kitchen. Never mind that they had more business as usual. The young man was stupidly grateful that Dhan had been hired because he was pretty amazing when it came to helping him with cooking.

He had worried briefly about Wil until somewhere in the earlier part of the evening his friend had showed up and claimed the couch. With the heavy fog over the town and the readings that Wil had given not that long ago, a sense of unease had settled. Nasir did not want him by himself, some of the worry that had knotted in his chest eased.

Eventually the kitchen closed and the cook had made sure Dhan had a place to sleep with a blanket (because with this kind of fog no one was leaving Darlene's, it just wasn't safe) before he was prodding Wil over on the couch in the breakroom. Shifting and squirming, he slept there until sometime in the morning he woke up to start cooking breakfast for those that had stayed overnight.

For the moment the food was finished, staying warm until it was time to serve, and he headed out of the kitchen to find Borr. Idly he was popping a barrette out of his hair only to slide it back into place to make sure hair wasn't in his eyes. "Still worse than pea soup out there?" he asked, coming up beside the old man and glancing out the windows.

Yeah. Really damn terrible out there.

Stuffed into a back corner booth with a pile of towels under her head, wrapped in a blanket like an Asian burrito, was Emelina. Sleeping overnight at work was not really her favorite thing on her list of favorite things. It was also not at all on the list, but she'd made do. Certainly it felt safer to be surrounded by people she trusted and worked with every day than lost out in the fog somewhere. Alone.

Hearing movement the brunette lifted her head, curls at all-odd angles from the way she'd slept, brown eyes were slitted against the pale morning light. "S'matter?" Sitting up, the blanket was rearranged before the waitress hopped from the booth to come stand at the window, rubbing at her eyes, before looking very unhappy.

"Why's it still there? Doesn't make sense."

"Can't see more'n a few feet in front of you." Borr was smoothing his fingers over and over down the hair on his bottom lip, "Dummy walked into the hydrant before he could see it."

A heavy hand fell to the rottweiler's head, who panted goofily and eagerly rose for pets.

"Which means driving ban is still on," He looked at the young man and woman with him, "One of you wanna turn on the TV? Low... don't wake anyone up. See what they news has to say?"

Dhan reached under the bar for the remote and flicked on the TV, turning the volume down so it was just barely audible. On the TV, a harried-looking newswoman wearing yesterday's suit was giving updates on the fog.

"This just in: multiple reports of persons having disappeared from their homes in Ashdown. We now have Officer Brandt live on Skype to tell us more about this breaking story..."

Dhan frowned. "I hope my dad is alright."

"I don't think I have ever seen it stick around like this," Nasir glanced towards the fog then down to one of the dogs to scratch at their head.

With the sound of the news report, the man was biting at his lip a moment. Not quite sure how he felt about hearing there were more missing people. His mind kept flickering back to Wil trying to tell fortunes and -

- it was bunk. Right?

"That doesn't sound good, but I'm sure your family is alright, Dhan," he murmured. "I, ah, got some breakfast ready. " Dark eyes glanced towards Emelina. "Also some cinnamon buns for you." He grinned slightly.

"Wouldn't be bad for everyone to call home." Borr glanced around. It seemed like people were stirring.

The two old regulars, the one's Borr called 1 and 2, were sitting up in their booth and shuffling over to the bar. "No beer this early-" He pointed at them, "Not for you two anyway."

The bar owner glanced up at the TV and the frazzled reporter, "Don't think they left the station either. We weren't the only ones who stayed in."

Borr took a deep breath, his barrel chest filling and growing and he seemed to double in width before he let it out through his nostrils. "Let's eat some food, see if anyone comes by, and reassess."

Dhan wasn't the only one worried about his family; Meli's parents could generally take care of themselves but, arguably, so could most of the people currently missing. Pulling her blanket tighter around her body she looked as if a hug was badly needed...or a cinnamon roll. Turning a grateful smile onto Nasir she immediately turned towards the kitchen where the sounds of the refrigerators and other appliances would drown out the television.

No doubt they would be running the news of missing people and too-thick fog over and over, two things the waitress did not at all want to think about. Still, with a plated roll in hand, licking her fingers to remove the icing that had clung there, she was nice enough to stick her head back through the swinging door. "Let me know if you need help serving, Borr. Keeping busy's one of the best things to do right now."

Plunking on a bar stool she immediately hefted the roll and proceeded to cover her face in icing, cinnamon sugar, and bliss.

The smell of breakfast cooking and the sounds of people talking woke Ken up from where he was sleeping in one of the booths. It had been really nice of them to let them stay there for the night, especially with the fog. It had been super thick and he hadn't been looking forward to the walk back to campus.

It hadn't been the worst night's sleep he had ever had either.

He yawned, and then sat up, glancing around the bar. He wasn't the only one awake, and he took a moment to check his phone. He had several messages from his mom, and Ken rolled his eyes, but answered that he was fine. That he was safe and not out in the fog. He supposed that he couldn't blame her for being worried, not with all the disappearances lately.

He slid out of the booth, and then stretched, his back cracking as he did. He probably should head back to campus now that it was daytime, but if he was honest with himself, he kind of didn't want to be alone. Maybe he'd just hang out here for a while longer. Plus the breakfast was bound to be better than what he'd get on campus.

He took a quick trip to the bathroom, and then made his way over to the bar. "Is there someplace you'd like the blankets to be put?"

He really should have gone home and stayed there after leaving the fire station, but with the fog and the driving ban, it felt like the world was closing in and staying home would have driven him to restless insanity.

Instead, Rylan had found his way to Darlene's for a pint and a bite and found himself hunkering down in the bar, unwilling to leave the unlikely group of friends he'd found there.

They were all worrying about the same thing, after all. The fog, the disappearances. Nobody seemed to have any halfway decent explanations for it all.

Rylan had barely slept, but as the staff and other patrons of Darlene's began to wake, him found himself too watchful and jazzed to attempt to nap. He wished he was at the station, ready to spring into action if a call came in.

"What do you make of all this?" He said, striking up conversation as Ken slid up to the bar. Mostly to get out of his own head. He could imagine a hundred different ways accidents could happen in weather like this.

"Thanks-" Borr looked behind him at the man offering help with the blankets, "Pile them up in one of the booths and when everyone's up and going I'll pack them away."

Borr was moving back towards the kitchen. With more people waking up it would be good to get breakfast around. On the house obviously.

"You eat, little lady." Meli was given a little pat on the shoulder as he went past. In a few moments the owner was out with several plates balanced on his large arms and he was sliding plates to all the waking patrons.

Nasir was a few steps behind Borr with more plates of food (he even dropped off another cinnamon roll to Meli because he was terrible enabler). "I can help Borr for a little bit, Meli," he reinforced. "I can probably manage to not drop plates for that long."

With that he was turning to pass out the plates he had. It was little bit of everything. Sausage, bacon, eggs and pancakes. Plates were set out in front of Ken and Rylan. "I've got some fresh orange juice as well if you two would like that." Nasir had a smile on his face, one that was so honest and an attempt to bring up the mood.

Definitely the kind of guy that did not want people stressing out and would help if he could.

"Just let me know."

Rylan smiled gratefully at Nasir, and waved his thanks to Borr. The smell of hot food wafted up from the plates, seeming like the most comforting thing in the world. In times like these, there was nothing like a hearty, familiar breakfast to ease the nerves.

"Expect this means the fog will lift when all this... weird business clears up," he said, both to Ken and to Nasir as he half-listened to the police report on the TV. "I hope, anyway."

Rylan was good at fighting threats that he could see, things that he could beat back with his hands. He didn't know how to fix troubles that came from nowhere, couldn't save people who were simply not there.

"Don't I feel useless, sitting here, not able to do anything about... well, any of this," he added. "So. If you need any help with the plates, or the juice, please let me know. Anything I can do to help."

"I'm not really sure what to think," he answered. "At first I thought that the kids were just runaways, but now with the fog?" Fog didn't normally behave like this.

He heard Borr's answer, and he nodded. "Got it." He'd fold them up too, in a bit, so it'd be easier for them to be put away.

Before he could continue his train of thought, Nasir had brought out plates, setting them down in front of him and Rylan. His stomach grumbled. "Thanks." He smiled. "Orange juice would be great." Caffeine could come later.

"The sooner the better," Ken said. "I don't mind the not driving thing, but it's just unnerving not being able to see more than a bit in front of you." Weird was probably a really good word for all of this, especially the fog. Normally it'd be gone by this point, no matter how thick it might have been. There might be a reasonable explanation, but if there was one, Ken didn't know it.

He was not a meteorologist, no matter how interesting meteors were.

"I'm pretty good at doing dishes," Ken added. Having something to do might just be a bit helpful. His mind jumped to his unfinished paper, but even if he was on campus, he doubted that he'd be working on it. He was way to unfocused for that.

"You guys have any thoughts on what's behind this?" He had a couple ideas, but most of them sounded like he had spent way too much time on the internet. "I'd think that maybe there was a large storm causing all this fog, but you'd think the news would have brought that up if it was."

"Don't worry about that," Nasir grinned at both Ken and Rylan. "Just enjoy the breakfast and let us worry about the rest." If they still wanted to help clean up later then he would take the help then but for now he wanted people to enjoy breakfast.

The young man was gone in a moment, back with a carafe of orange juice and a couple glasses that were set down on the tablet for them. "Coffee in a bit for anyone who wants it." He paused, thinking of the missing Detective Mercer and then Zac Bantock. "Tea too, if anyone prefers that."

Honestly Nasir was keeping himself busy. It was easier than thinking about all the terrible fortunes that Wil had kept turning up over the previous week. That there was something else going on they did not understand. Which reminded him he needed to check on the other in a bit and bring him breakfast as well.
