Getting Down with the Clown
The BasicsUser Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

TAMIYA: Pulled from the story of Oiwa, the famous Japanese onyro ghost story. The story follows the detestable ronin Tamiya Iemon, who eventually succumbs to madness in part due to being haunted by his wife’s ghost.
AIGUMA: Deep indigo/purple makeup used in Kabuki theatre to denote a ghost, demon or evil spirit.

        Blood Color: #3a0050

        Gender: Female

Symbol: An obelisk shape; a charm said to provide good luck and protection from evil.

Appearance: Tamiya has a theatrical appearance. She often wears heavy layers that give her an enormous amount of volume. Tied off hakama with unusual symmetrical pleats often accompany her kimono top and other vestiges. She has recently been drawn to wearing simpler, more practical geta, but will occasionally wear high wedges as it suits her. She enjoys purples and the reds of her kismesis, as well as exquisite golds and jewelry.

Her coarse hair is either let down or in a topknot or pulled back into a bun. Her horns emerge at harsh angles from the roots of her fringe. They are rather thin in appearance, and they broaden briefly near the tips before ending in a point. They resemble kanzashi hairsticks.

Most prominently featured is Tamiya's face paint. She has opted for a more elegant take on the religious facepaint worn by those of her class, and has adapted such for a fearsome and dramatic appearance. Growing up in a theatre with ghostly masks of a theatrical appearance (not to mention her lusus’ urging) has inspired her choice. Her face is painted white with purple, red and indigo colors making up the linework that accentuate her expressions dramatically.

Weapon: Tamiya wields an heirloom kiseru. It is oversized and inlaid with a golden fox pattern.

Powers: Tamiya has uncovered her disposition towards the traditional clown art used in subjugglation – powers called chucklevoodoos. She can project horrifying visions into her opponent’s conscious, which can cause panic and disorientation.

Personality

This troll lives in her own enigmatic world, by her own set of rules. Tamiya’s actions are defined by these – a superstitious set of decrees by which she judges everything. They range from words of wisdom told to her by her lusus: “Always position your recuperacoon away from the sea”, – to physical warnings: “Never strike a redblood four times exactly, or your hand will not stop” – to more general beliefs such as prophecies within dreams. Most prominently, though, is her driving belief that the dead, the spirits, and the powers that be are a constant threat to the living. She does everything in her power to appease the spirits and to will good fortune upon herself, simultaneously fearing for the highbloods who cannot see or believe in the forces of the dead and being wary of the lowblooded psychics who can (and who may have sway over them). This causes her much trepidation; she often feels as though others are out to get her or have ulterior motives against the structure of Alternia.

She is meticulous about fulfilling her obsessions, and as well she is entrenched in the gospels of the cult familiar with some of her blood-caste. She doesn’t have the typical dark whimsy of her fellow young subjugglators – she’s inescapably uptight and driven to intense seriousness about her religion. The foremost tenet of the juggalos: “follow what your heart feels” has supported her unhealthy fear of the unnatural and for her own bloodcaste against those with the power to upset balance. Speak of the Mirthful Messiahs and damning judgment drives her to be a model highblood.

Tamiya believes that the duty of highbloods is to maintain justice and order on Alternia, and strongly believes that they must prioritize the protection of their own. Highbloods pulling rank without Alternia’s goals in mind are no better than dissenting lowbloods. She looks up to the ruling class on Alternia, hoping to increase her influence on Alternia’s justice system as a prominent subjugglator and restore these high-ranking cultists as rulers of the Alternian government. Excising unnaturals is critical for Tamiya. Mutant-blooded trolls deserve immediate culling for their transgressions, and while she accepts the natural powers that lowbloods possess their mental acuity is frightening to her in the possibility of dangerous traitors and spirit-speakers.

Projecting herself onto others is something that Tamiya often struggles with. She wants to assume the good in every troll, and can be short-sighted or oblivious because of this. In a similar vein, because she assumes that trolls are on the same page with her, when they are not she refuses to understand them in a way that dehumanizes them to the point where she can no longer empathize.

Her lusus and her faith have instilled in her distrust in books and science. She is obstinate about her beliefs, and refuses to partake in arguments of her religion or against what she believes – she often throws violent outbursts in the face of disrespect. In the same vein, the way Tamiya speaks is rather jarring compared to her elegant appearance. Growing up learning the gospel has solidified a juggalo drawl into her speech, but in contrast she insists on learning and referring to trolls by their surnames rather than by their blood color – out of respect for etiquette, her fellow trolls and superstitious belief. The combination of formal and informal may be a surprising effect for those unfamiliar with her speech patterns. She can be quite a conversation partner and surprisingly amiable! Tamiya has a great respect for those who are capricious and filled with mirth. The best way to win her favor is to attempt to mirror her approach - but do so at your own risk. Mockery of her faith equates to a swift punishment.

Outside of her prominent peculiarities, Tamiya is a troll that enjoys quiet. She loves to tend to her rock garden, where she can control the elements to her liking. She also enjoys witnessing performances of all kinds, from theatre to blackrom slam poetry.

Kabukidad had great influence over his charge, and especially used this to form her into an ideal subjugglator-in-training in her childhood. He has successfully passed much of his “wisdom” about the world to her thanks to being ever-present in her youthful endeavors. In grooming Tamiya into a model highblood and cultist, Kabukidad made sure that Tamiya got out of the house to experience more trolls in the field and learn about her subjects. At first, Tamiya was inspired and grateful for her overbearing lusus’ presence, but upon making closer connections to trolls she realized that his constant solutions of violence, subjugation and death were causing her to lose herself. In trying to seek her own identity he has pinned her as a rebellious teen and has become more elusive and less involved in her life. He is confident in his teachings and considers her uncovering of her chucklevoodoos a stark success.

Strengths & Flaws

        Strengths:
        Principled:
Tamiya’s code may be a little twisted, but she follows it to a T and doesn’t paint outside the lines (in fact, some may say that she doesn’t paint at all!). Her code of honor, even at this young age, is forming into a firm set of standards which gives her clear-cut decisiveness. Likewise, it’s a perfect set of instructions for trolls to follow if they need something from Tamiya, because there is a method to her madness.

        Methodical:

The purpleblood is meticulous about her duties, and never leaves loose ends for fear of spiritual retribution or bad luck. She considers these oversights to be deadly, and takes every effort to plan out an exacting course of action for all of her plans. While she’s young and doesn’t have a sense of leadership quite yet, her work around the hive is immaculate because of this trait.

        Courteous:
Being civil to others—whether high or lowblood – has always been a skill of the young troll. She always attempts to leave a social interaction with herself on a moral high ground (using her own moral code, of course), for fear that the unrest or malintent of a troll she has wronged will return to her with karmic force. While she may not trust or be comfortable around those of lower blood caste, she makes every effort to appease and is quite charitable for this reason.

        Flaws:
        Paranoid:
Tamiya has a sneaking suspicion that something is out to get her. Her mistrust at this age comes from her fear of spirits and her much beleaguered history with the rebellion and natural disasters. She has seen the effects of dangerous mutants, abominations and dissenters and has closed off even moreso because of this, retaliating against threats with greater abandon. This puts her on edge at all times, and makes it hard for her to open up to those who don’t follow her code as exactly as she does. It also doesn’t help her obsessive compulsions to complete her rituals any, and she wastes an amazing amount of time through stress and ensuring that no one can undo or overthrow her.

        Volatile:
When something doesn’t go her way, whether it be bad luck or the desecration of one of her many laws, Tamiya is apt to throwing huge tantrums that Kabukidad never quelled when she was a child. These have evolved into violent outbursts that she rarely regrets, and being a subjugglator in training feeds her rage. Tamiya is very unstable when she’s not in her element, and is a force to be reckoned with when she goes out of control. These events exhaust her and cause her a huge amount of grief afterwards, and making amends for her actions takes up more time than her huge blow-ups.

        Obsessive:

Her many habits pile up; other trolls may find Tamiya’s constant adjusting and fretting irritating, and it eats up much of her time. If something isn’t just right, she’ll go out of her way to fix it – sometimes even getting in other troll’s business to attempt to correct him. She won’t take no for an answer if what’s at stake is retaliation from a malevolent spirit, and is obstinate about how she is in the right. It’s hard for her to resist leaving things alone in social situations, as well, and if she feels as though something is amiss she will incessantly pursue closure.

Kabukidad
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Tamiya’s lusus, Kabukidad, is a fox-like creature with a strange, humanoid form. His baggy skin and neck hole are quite uncanny, and don’t particularly seem to suit the predatory creature that he is. However, Tamiya is proud of his agility, and though he has an awkward gait, he can run on all fours very quickly and is quite adept at running up walls! His deadly nature is something that Tamiya admires.

Kabukidad has great influence over his charge, and has passed much of his “wisdom” about the world to her. He is very proud of Tamiya, and is everpresent in her endeavors, not leaving the house unless she does and following her quietly when she wishes to go out for a walk. Kabukidad is concerned that Tamiya is becoming introverted, and takes her out on many trips to become culturally aware. A young subjugglator has to know the people she keeps in line, after all. While many trolls may feel stifled by such an overbearing lusus, Tamiya doesn’t seem to mind. Kabukidad has only spoken truths to her, after all, so clearly he knows best.

Tamiya's Hive

Tamiya currently resides in Civisect City. She previously lived in a grand theatre-turned-hive near the water in Old Hemisect City prior to the battle that claimed the city. Her old hive was, in fact, detonated in front of her by rebel forces during the battle. She still has horrific memories of the event, having lost some of her hearing during close-up blasts, but in moving in with Sinter afterwards has found solace.

After moving out of Sinter's hive after a sweep, Tamiya relocated to Civisect. She owns a simple, open hive away from the City and near the water. It is clean and modern, with light, minimalistic interiors. Tamiya dearly misses the furnishings of her old hive and has begun to collect prints to fill her walls with, as well as masks that she stashes away for when she can decorate with them again. There isn't as much space in her hive as there used to be, and in addition to cutting down furniture Kabukidad has moved into an adjacent block attached to Tamiya's hive. He is not usually present, preferring to live in the surrounding coastal woods.

        Old Hive:

Tamiya and her lusus reside in Old Hemisect City, in a grand theatre-turned-hive near the water. Tamiya’s lusus found the spot a perfect place for his charge, with close proximity to the mighty Goly’b Goly’b feeding into Tamiya’s religious teachings. Her hive is kept pristine with the ordinances that she places upon herself based upon her many rituals. Each room is kept a particular way, leaving the energy open and free of nasty spirits. She takes daily care to nudge furniture (it wanders, she swears) back into position and dust, which she finds a relaxing pleasure in. It’s a good way for her to unwind, and she typically feels very comfortable in her hive. In fact, finding her in her home is a good opportunity to see a more peaceful and stable Tamiya.

Her respiteblock is equally prim and matches the rest of her hive. She has prints of flowers and elegant landscapes of Alternia artfully placed on her walls, and a variety of mats to sit and play on.

The prevalence of ghost stories and eerie spiritual unrest surrounding the place has not done any favors for Tamiya’s constitution, and while she is in Old Hemisect outside of her “purified” home, she becomes quite uptight and on edge.

Relationships
Friends, Enemies, and Acquaintances

▆▆▆SINTER HEILIG
▆▆▆▆*****
▆▆▆▆The best moirail a clown could ask for. He's the straight man to your clown act, the good cop to your bad cop.

▆▆▆LARQUE SKOPOS
▆▆▆▆****
▆▆▆▆Your bad omen and one of your best friends since you clubbed him in the head (er, cleansed him) for breaking into your hive. You care deeply for him.

▆▆▆ALEXIN FLYNNT
▆▆▆▆***
▆▆▆▆You keep getting partnered with this troll; they are pleasant, unmysterious and obedient, and you like them quite a bit.

▆▆▆REGINA MARIAN
▆▆▆▆***
▆▆▆▆You unknowingly were partnered with the Queen, then fought along side of her and even jeered at her from a dunk tank! You have respect for her, stemming from your desire to act as an enforcer of the Alternian status quo. A chuckletyrant if you've ever seen one.

▆▆▆ETSALI AZEBAN
▆▆▆▆*
▆▆▆▆Another royalist recruit you met during the Battle of OHC. She liked your make-up! Probably harmless.

▆▆▆MIACHE GAHIJI
▆▆▆▆*
▆▆▆▆Entitled and snooty - needs to listen to his lusus and stay in line! Even worse, you learned that he was a defector.

▆▆▆ODETTE CYGNET
▆▆▆▆****
▆▆▆▆Even though she was a dark corrupted force when you met her (and then cured her) she has risen from the ashes... And then she had another redemption, though you were still responsible. In any case, you're completely hopeless in your infatuation with her and you relentlessly pursue her.

▆▆▆KEIONX RUTACE
▆▆▆▆*
▆▆▆▆A brave, umbre knight. Clearly, this is what she is.

▆▆▆LEEROI FURORE
▆▆▆▆**
▆▆▆▆A disrespectful, putrid product of unwanted bucketsludge. You won't hesitate to cull Leeroi if you see him again.

▆▆▆PSYKGI MENTHA
▆▆▆▆**
▆▆▆▆Leeroi's observer. You do not trust this one due to her affiliations with "science", but she is not currently on your cull-list.

▆▆▆LUTRIN WEESIL
▆▆▆▆***
▆▆▆▆Wonderful, precious ticklenymph!! A potential follower with an aura of mirth and capriciousness. She has passed every natural test and is a goddamn miracle of nature.

▆▆▆SKELTR OSSYIN
▆▆▆▆**
▆▆▆▆A symbol of death and jolliness wrapped in a hoodie. You're wary to satisfy the needs of this bone child, but find his comfort around your faith pleasing.

▆▆▆VOSCIL TORGNY
▆▆▆▆**
▆▆▆▆She volunteered at the booth a couple of times, dunked you and seems pretty excitable! She moves a little too fast to be normal, but... She's on your list.

▆▆▆ALIFAX BUNSEM
▆▆▆▆***
▆▆▆▆Alifax is one stoic, humorless shadow-walker. His logic bores you, but at least the redblood has a stitch of duty in him.

▆▆▆FORERA SERPEN
▆▆▆▆**
▆▆▆▆Loud and crass! She has quite the highblooded, proper mouth on her and did well on the dunk tank. You appreciate her gall.

▆▆▆LUXARA SELENI
▆▆▆▆*
▆▆▆▆Should think twice about wearing her coat.

▆▆▆BYAKKO MAWIYA
▆▆▆▆***
▆▆▆▆A horrific mutant and leader of the rebellion that you intend to bring to justice for her crimes against you and the rest of Alternia. She must be stopped.

▆▆▆EOSTRE DIAZZI
▆▆▆▆***
▆▆▆▆A capable blueblood, who you have gotten more acquainted with! Though your start was rocky, she has her head in the right place. She also clearly deeply desires you, which is charming and the natural progression of getting to know you.

▆▆▆ELIDAE BONBON
▆▆▆▆***
▆▆▆▆An incredibly pleasant death sprite you encountered during the rebel ambush. She is a chortlebun with ample polka-dots, and is harmless. A good egg, especially for a yellowblood.

▆▆▆GUOULI PYRERO
▆▆▆▆*
▆▆▆▆You're currently testing this youth's juggalo mettle.

▆▆▆ADAMAZ KAROTH
▆▆▆▆**
▆▆▆▆Working with Adamaz in the Still Pools was as much of a joy as it could have been. He was dutiful and quiet. Good.

▆▆▆SARCEL CINCIL
▆▆▆▆***
▆▆▆▆An incredibly helpful blueblood who assisted you in your duties during the Royalist Banquet. She is a leader in training.

▆▆▆ERIDIA TSIFER
▆▆▆▆*
▆▆▆▆An associate of Chiara's and a troublemaker. She could be following her pumpbiscuit, so you'll stay out of that mess for now.

▆▆▆CHIARA MOTEKU
▆▆▆▆***
▆▆▆▆Kind of thinky for a clown, and ultimately self-serving. Having been grouped with her and experienced her explosive nature, you realize she needs some self-control. And that says a lot coming from a clown.

▆▆▆ZINDEL TAGINO
▆▆▆▆**
▆▆▆▆Loudmouth, typical whelp, some kind of servant of Chiara's. Yet, he managed to get an invite to the Queen's discussion. You'll see about this one.

▆▆▆KURSHA VIDARI
▆▆▆▆***
▆▆▆▆Reasonable commander, reminds you of yourself in your various exploits (oh the victories and failures...) He's got confidence and capriciousness on his side, gets s**t done, isn't afraid to put trolls in their place, and you're impressed with his gall.

▆▆▆DIDERO SALONS
▆▆▆▆*
▆▆▆▆A very important symbol of pity and your destiny. You almost clubbed him to death.

        - Tamiya is physically masculine; in an alternate universe in which she were human, she would be transgender.
        - If Pesterchum were a thing, Tamiya's chumhandle would be....uhhh pending somehow i lost her handle and quirks.
        - If Tamiya was to play sburb, her title would be the Maid of Light.
        - Tamiya's favorite flavor of Faygo is Moon Mist, and her favorite tea is red Gatorade.
