Name: Soren Blythe
Nickname: None yet
Gender/Pronoun: Cis male, he/him
Age: 1,026 1,027 Appears in his mid-to-late twenties
Birthday: April 23 works for him, by human reckoning. He never really knew his birthday on Daedalus, so picking one somewhat arbitrarily isn't a particular bother. His birth year corresponds to roughly 997 AD.
Fav. Food: Hamburgers. Hello, yes, delicious, more please.
Hated Food: This seems like the type of thing people who are accustomed to having enough to eat get to have. That said, Daedalans on the whole aren’t entirely unequipped to process fruits and vegetables, but they do have a hard time with them, so Soren prefers to avoid them.
Occupation: Works at a mechanic shop that focuses on classic cars
Hobbies:
Singing || It started with the work songs that were common in the factories and mines of his homeworld. When he became a revolutionary, it became protest anthems. Now, it’s whatever he catches on the radio or finds on the Magical Earth Internet. Soren loves to sing, regularly sings while he works, and generally likes to fill wherever he is with music.
Tinkering || Soren loves to make things, fiddle with things, and otherwise break them down to find out how they work. Modern Earth technology fascinates him, Mau tech is delightful, and if he’s idling at all, he’s probably fiddling with some tiny invention or other. He likes to always have his hands in or on something, because it makes him feel productive.
Virtues:
Passionate || Soren is full of fire and belief. When he chooses a cause, or a person, he will support them with everything he has. He always gives a hundred and ten percent, throws himself fully into things, and will not let himself back down. He’s also really good at inspiring that passion in others by word and by example; he cares, a lot, and he’s going to make you care, too.
Firebrand || Soren’s passion gives way to action, and he’s not afraid to push for what he wants. Even if it makes him enemies, even if it loses him friends, Soren will pursue what he believes is right with fervor and certainty. He refuses to back down, and this makes him a pretty powerful force to push for what he wants, and definitely impresses the people around him and inspires them to action.
Charismatic || Soren knows how to talk to people, how to reach them, and how to convince them. He’s good at being charming when he wants to be—and it’s an honest, straightforward charm. He doesn’t really lie or manipulate, just argues well and presents his positions clearly and persuasively.
Flaws:
Overworked || Soren places an incredible amount of responsibility on himself, and will push himself to and beyond his limits to fulfill those responsibilities. He is constantly overworked, regularly pushes himself too hard, and his personal relationships often suffer for it. (One of his greatest regrets is that when asked to choose between his beloved and his work, he could not make that choice.)
Undersupported || Soren does not share his burdens. The very concept is alien to him. Why should he burden other people with his responsibilities? He also tends to bury his own pain or suffering, hide any signs that he isn’t as okay as he wants to insist he is, and otherwise refuses to accept help if he thinks it might burden the person offering.
Agitator || Soren’s fiery advocacy can definitely be as much of a detriment as it is a positive. Yes, he’s bold, and determined, and certain of his course. He’s also way, way too unafraid to piss off people in power, and it’s cost him more than once. He refuses to learn any kind of lesson, though; personal sacrifice is worth it, and so he will continue agitating when he ought not to, no matter what.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Round, dark maroon
Hair: Long, iridescent-black, worn in a braid that reaches his waist. When it’s loose, messy curls
Face: Oval
Skin Tone: Pale
Body Type: At first glance, tall and slender; upon closer examination, it’s clear that he has quite solid musculature.
Clothes: Casual looks, plaids over t-shirts and jeans, often dirty
Civilian Passive Ability: Mechanical Sense: Soren has an extra sense for machines--namely, if they're broken and how to fix them. This primarily applies to mechanical problems; he has more trouble with complex modern electronics, but if it's a car engine or a mechanical music box, he can basically fix it by instinct, presuming he has the correct parts and tools.

Senshi: Eternal Sailor Daedalus, Deep Space Senshi of Progress
Challenge: “Progress belongs to those who work for it.” // “We all lift together.”
Uniform Color:
Main Color: Mint Green Secondary Color: Brown/Purple
Uniform:
See art <3
Attacks:
Sailor Scout Attack: Progress On! Daedalus speaks the name of his attack, and enemies within a 6 foot radius are suddenly overwhelmed by visions of progress of some kind—social, technological, any kind is possible. These visions are crammed into about 10 seconds, and when they fade, they leave the targets disoriented as they try to parse through what they just saw. The disorientation lingers for about 20 seconds, but can remain longer at player discretion. Daedalus can use this attack three times per battle.
Super Sailor Scout Attack: Progress Forward! Daedalus speaks the name of his attack, and enemies within an 8 foot radius are suddenly overwhelmed by visions of progress of some kind—social, technological, any kind is possible. These visions are crammed into about 10 seconds, and when they fade, they leave the targets disoriented as they try to parse through what they just saw. The disorientation lingers for about 25 seconds, but can remain longer at player discretion. Daedalus can use this attack twice per battle.
Eternal Sailor Attack: Wheels of Progress! Daedalus speaks the name of the attack, and makes a sweeping gesture, and enemies within a 15 foot radius are assaulted by visions of progress crammed into about 10 seconds; the visions this time are directly tied to the area in which the magic is cast in, and so might vary between planets or dimensions (so there would be different visions on Mercury vs on Earth vs in Negaspace), but they are always dangerous. After the visions fade, enemies are left feeling disoriented and battered, and may have moderate bruising at player discretion. The disorientation and pain last for a further 45 seconds. Daedalus can use this spell once per battle.
Transcendence Ability: Energy Giving
Deep Space Senshi:
Physical Features: Curling horns, slightly elongated canines, slit pupils, and pointed ears. All of these are cosmetic; his teeth don’t bite any harder than human teeth and his horns are blunted and confer no advantage in battle.

Planet Daedalus was, if you looked at the surface, a shimmering steampunk utopia. The planet of unfettered progress, a land of inventors and geniuses creating fantastical machines and making leaps and bounds forward, supported by a great industrial revolution. It was the Gilded Age of American capitalism come early, and on an alien world. Daedalus was resource-rich and thrived on trade and exports of manufactured goods.
And, just like the Gilded Age, the sparkly exterior and hyper-indulgence of the wealthy papered over massive inequality that left the poorest of the planet behind to work in factories and warehouses and mines with poor safety and abysmal practices. Extremely long shifts with few days off were common, which meant that fatigue worsened the already terrible conditions. Accidents and deaths happened with regularity. All of it was regularly covered up for people who visited, who were encouraged by reports of crime and danger to stay in the fancier parts of Daedalan cities, especially the capitol.

It was into Daedalus's underclass that Soren Blythe, the future Sailor Daedalus, was born. He was orphaned at a young age, and by age seven, he was working in Daedalus’s factories. By the time he was discovered as the Senshi at age fourteen, practically by chance, he had witnessed all sorts of horrors, and had himself developed a nasty cough that would continue to haunt him throughout his life—a consequence of inhaling the toxic chemicals that permeated the air of the manufacturing plants where he worked.
The fact that someone from the lower classes was the Senshi caused quite a spectacular uproar, especially since even at 14, Soren was already getting involved with the burgeoning labor movement on the world. The previous Senshi had been one of the hyper-wealthy elite, and had gladly participated in perpetuating the social conditions that allowed them to prosper at the people’s expense, and this change was quite shocking. Soren was approached many times over his life by upper-class people looking to adopt him or otherwise bring him into their world, in hopes of once again having the Senshi on their side, but he had already seen too much. Progress, Soren believed, ought to belong to everyone, not just the few who already had money and power.
So he stayed with the labor movement, and over the years, his role as the Senshi and his charisma and dedication to the work meant that he became a leading figure in the movement. He also spent time visiting other worlds, seeking allies in the fight against inequality on his own planet, and it was on one such trip that he found the love of his life, a fellow Senshi from another world. That relationship vied with his work to be the most important thing in Soren’s life, sometimes to his lover’s frustration.
When Chaos came to Daedalus, it was swift and merciless. One day, Soren was parting from his beloved after a fight over his priorities; the next, Daedalus found itself cut off from the wider universe, and Soren found his lifelong illness worsening rapidly. The planet’s environment, already beginning to degrade from exploitation and pollution, began to come apart at a rapid pace, and Soren and his group began to prepare plans for a violent overthrow of the order of the world, seeing it as perhaps the only way to save the planet from elites who were determined to play down or ignore the growing crisis.
As his illness worsened, Soren was forced to spend less and less time in the public eye. But he continued to work, and plan—and to do plenty to undermine the interests of people much more powerful than him. One of those people, a factory owner whose workers Soren had personally organized into a powerful union, decided to take matters into his own hands, and schemed to have Sailor Daedalus poisoned. Better to kill this agitator and hope that his next version was someone more pliable.
With his planet infected by Chaos and its guardian dying, the planet took action—and instead of the poison killing him, Soren was pulled into a deep, deathlike sleep, a stasis that would keep him alive and preserved, and prevent the poison from taking full effect. Thinking him dead, his comrades had him interred in the mausoleum that housed all the Senshi of Daedalus—to his benefit, because it protected him from the chaos that was unleashed around him.
News of this spread like wildfire, and eventually, the factory owner’s plan was exposed—and that was the spark that lit the match of a violent uprising. Believing their champion dead, the people of Daedalus rose up in anger—and were crushed. Anger could not match well-paid and well-trained private armies. But crushing the revolt did not slow the decline of the world. The cascade of environmental destruction, hastened by Chaos, brought plagues, disasters, and a dwindling food supply—and eventually, it brought the end.
All while the planet’s guardian slept, kept in stasis and waiting for something to awaken him.

Soren was orphaned at a young age; he forged a sort of found family with other workers and members of the Daedalan resistance.
