There was something about the gleam of a starseed, Sakuraiite thought, that made them feel especially precious. Especially starseeds removed from someone with magical powers. It had been all luck, really--she'd gotten to ambush the strange Senshi with his curled, draconic horns, and now he lay in a heap at her feet, as she turned over his starseed between her fingers. A soft green, threaded through with brass, glowing brightly between her fingers.
Probably she should sling his unconscious body over her shoulder and bring him back for interrogation, see what secrets might be prized from a strange, inhuman Senshi, like the ones in the database.
But for the moment, she just wanted to enjoy the sight of his starseed. No different than the ones that she'd seen from ordinary humans. Perhaps a bit brighter. At a soul level, it seemed, they were all the same.

Monoceros exhaled softly, watching his breath fog the air and then dissipate into the cold night. It felt... good. Really, really good to be out here, doing this sort of thing again. Only this time, he was doing it from the right side. Actually accomplishing things for the good of Earth, instead of... feeding the thing that wanted to consume it all. Right now, Metallia couldn't just eat Earth, but she'd reach that stage eventually if they weren't careful. If they ever stopped fighting the good fight... he didn't want to think about it. He sensed an aura nearby—two? Oh no—and he rushed over, weaving through the alleys to find— A half youma, staring at a starseed in her hands, and an unconcious senshi on the ground. Reacting without thinking, he flicked his hand forward and shouted, "Quill Flash!" Noir Songbird A burst of porcupine quills flies from Sailor Monoceros's hand, which can cause shallow scratches and/or minor puncture wounds. Any attempt to remove the quills before they vanish will cause sharp, pinpointed pain in the area; however, they don't sink in much deeper than skin-level. A user can choose to have this attack cause permanent damage or the injury will fade when the magic expires. This attack will last 20 seconds and can be used three times per battle.

Sakuraiite yelped. The attack came out of nowhere, as far as she was concerned--and it hurt, striking her right in the arm, sharp needles that sunk into her flesh. Still, it could have been worse--there were Senshi with all kinds of awful emotion magic, Knights that made her...think about things. Have feelings. A terrible state of affairs that she wanted to avoid.
Her fingers flexed. Her sparkly little prize slipped from between them, unbeknownst to her, as she staggered backwards and away from the body of the Senshi she had meant to haul away. Instead, now, her attention was on whoever had attacked her--and she zeroed in on the prime suspect.
"You!" She snarled at the chubby Senshi in his furry little skirt. "How dare you!"
She continued to ignore the unconscious Senshi on the ground. No point in worrying about him. He would most certainly die soon enough.
She stormed over towards the Senshi, glaring at him with ice in her eyes.
"I'll take your starseed, too!"Daedalus had never had a hand on his starseed before.
He'd hardly known what to do, when it happened--he'd been wandering, patrolling as usual, and he hadn't heard anyone coming up behind him. Hadn't really realized how close the Captain's aura was. Not until a cold spike of fear seized him, and he didn't react quickly enough--there was a hand throguh his back, and an instant later, everything was black.
He'd only had a moment to wonder--after all this time, was he going to die here? Like this? Through his own bad luck and lack of paying attention? It didn't seem fair, but then--the universe was very rarely fair. Perhaps it only made sense. Survived for a thousand years, only to die when hope was finally within reach.
How unlucky for him.
And yet, it seemed that something in the universe was on his side after all, because when the Captian dropped her precious, glimmering cargo, it fell next to the unconscious body of the starseed's owner. And as magic was, the little star wanted to return to its home--and so it floated bakc into Daedalus's chest, and he jolted upright with a gasp.
He was awake. He was alive. And the Captain was stalkignh er way over to an unfamiliar Senshi, who was probably responsible for Daedalus being that way.
He didn't even think about it. He called his magic to hand, gasped "Progress Forward," and--
Nothing. Maybe he was still dizzy. Still weak from having his soul fondled by a monster in a distorted, almost-human skin. Or maybe it was one of the unfair, frustrating disruptions that his magic seemed to have on the regular. But either way, right when he needed it--nothing.
s**t. He really hoped that the other Senshi could hold the Captain's attention for a moment, while he got himself together.

What a rush! His magic flowed forward, stabbing into the half youma's arm, and he felt good. Powerful. Like he could actually protect people. He smirked with confidence, swishing his little skirt a bit as she snarled and spun to face him, dropping the starseed in the process—he trusted it would return to where it belonged, that was how these things were meant to go, after all. No need in worrying about it. Magic was just like that. He shifted his stance forward as she stalked over, still feeling confident and powerful, even as she seemed quite miffed. Pissed, really. He didn't expect her to get a hand on his own starseed. Not tonight, anyway. He had another spell up his sleeve, after all. One spell for going long, and another for close quarters, and here she was, stalking right up within range of the second spell. "Oh, I don't think so," he said casually. "Quill Burst!" Noir Songbird Sailor Monoceros leaps up to the bad guy, getting close, before letting loose a burst of quills from his entire body. (Allies beware!) The Burst is less aim-controlled than the Flash, but more intense. These quills will likely puncture more deeply from being close up and attempts to remove the quills before disappearance will cause a sharp, hot pain where the quill is pinned, and a more dull ache in the surrounding area, making the muscles more sore. A user can choose to have this attack cause permanent damage or the injury will fade when the magic expires. This attack will last about 30 seconds and can be used twice per battle.

It hurt. Everything hurt. Of all the things Sakuraiite had expected out of her night, she had not expected to get impaled with a thousand porcupine quills. This was--this was miserable, undignified, agonizing. And she wanted to to stop. Wanted it to be over. Wanted to get out of there.
"You--I hate--" She snarled, like it was anytihng like an effective threat for her to spit half-finished invectives. But, he was close to her, and she was petty--she ripped one of the porcupine quills out of her own arm, yelping in pain as she did, and swung it down to stab into his.
Was it worth it? Probably not. But it was a little bit of resistance that she could put up, and it was a distraction, for her other hand to grab at him and start drawing some energy into herself. Make the pain stop, make it slow down, make it--
Anything but more of this--Good. The Captain seemed entirely focused on the other Senshi; that meant there was plenty of time for Daedalus to get to his feet and catch his breath. His magic still, somehow, felt out of reach, but that was okay, he would figure it out. Maybe he just needed to not be at imminent risk of death (which was sort of an annoying situation to be in when his magic was supposed to be for defending himself and others, all things considered, but hey.)
And anyway, he had plenty of training with fighting with things other than magic. So instead of trying to throw another spell, he raced in, and slammed his fist into the Captain's back. He just needed to knock the wind out of her, and maybe, faced with two people on her level, she'd do the smart thing and run.Quote: Touch of Decay: Sakuraiite grabs hold of someone, and they feel as if their energy is being drained. This happens at a much faster rate than actual Negaverse energy draining, and does not produce an energy orb for Sakuraiite to turn in; instead, the energy transfers directly to her, and will heal minor injuries and give her a small boost that lasts for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, the affected target will feel somewhat less drained, but at player choice, some fatigue may linger. Sakuraiite can use this ability twice per battle.

Good. She could hate him all she wanted. It meant he was doing his job right. He hadn't felt so alive in so long. Even as she stabbed him with one of his own quills. It was only moments before the quill itself faded, anyway, and he could take a little bit of pain. That was nothing compared to ensuring a fellow senshi's safety, to him. Even when she started to energy drain him, his confidence didn't waver one bit. He'd noticed the other senshi standing, and he knew that he'd be rescued in turn. He slumped with the drain, the tiredness slamming into him like a train. It nearly hurt, how fast it went. He couldn't focus enough to use another of his spells again, not when the drain was so powerful. His eyes drooped. They wouldn't stay open any longer... His knees buckled and gave out. And still, he knew he would be safe. He didn't worry.

Well. This was not exactly a situation that Sakuraiite wanted to be in. It seemed that the Senshi whose starseed she had taken was back on his feet--less than idea, all around. Even if the one she'd drained from was on his knees, that didn't mean he wouldn't weake back up when her magic ended, and for that whole time, she'd have another very awake, very angry Senshi on her hands.
So, all things considered, there seemed only one option.
An expeditious teleport to get her the hell out of there. It seemed that, faced with two Senshi on her level and able and willing to fight, the Captain was not willing to stick around. Still, Daedalus wasn't sure what she'd done to the man who had saved him--and so he was quick to run over and catch him, and help keep him upright.
"There we go, you're alright," he reassured. "Thank you. I don't want to guess what would have happened to me, if not for you."

Monoceros felt a bit better when Sakuraiite teleported away. Not enough, but just a bit. Enough to not blurt something stupid when the pretty dragon senshi guy caught him as he started to fully keel over. He smiled up at him, though, feeling quite pleased with himself. "'S what we do, innit," he slurred, faceplanting into Daedalus' shoulder. He couldn't stay awake a moment longer. The night caught up with him and he winked out, drooling against a stranger's shoulder.
