P E R S O N A L I T Y ┆

Nonjudgmental ;; Most of what other people do with their lives doesn't directly affect him, so he's not liable to anger over it. Laike never thought it made any sense to judge someone based on their actions; he'd rather judge the action and its outcomes, and try to help the person find a better behavioral choice for the future. Thus, if his friends and acquaintances are up to no good, he doesn't judge them for it, and won't ever appraise a person as unworthy no matter their deeds. People are people, and they shouldn't have to be classified as good or bad.

Calm ;; Maybe it's because getting emotional takes genuine effort, and Laike is averse to effort, but he's seldom piqued. Failing exams may elicit lukewarm broodiness, but he never bursts into tears about it. Being yelled at brings about mild discomfort, not anger in equal measure or despair. His even keel can be helpful and grounding, and assures through its constancy that he won't act unpredictably.

Caring ;; As much as he doesn't let on to giving a damn (because affecting giving a damn is just, so much energy), Laike cares about the people he's gotten mixed up with. He likes to hear about what's going on in their lives, and if he can, help them smile a little more. He doesn't want to hurt or cross them, and wants to abide their wishes as much as he wants to lay on the couch all day.

Lazy ;; In a perfect world, Laike would sleep for 18 hours, eat already prepared food without getting out of bed, and play videogames without having to touch a controller. But no part of his family would afford this laconic boy his lazy luxuries. Laike has a deep abiding appreciation for doing as little as possible, and his drive to have no drive has crippled him in any socially productive pursuits. Instead of going to college, he's working a part time job because he's too lazy to apply himself. He never followed his parents' wishes to learn an instrument because that's too much effort. He'd rather be napping.

Shy ;; He isn't one to approach others, and often his eyes are glued to the floor while others are speaking. He slouches, sits in corners, and leans against objects to blend in with the scenery. When people broach uncomfortable subjects, Laike makes up excuses to avoid the conversation altogether and exits the scene. He'll go along with anything the other person says to avoid confrontation. He has a hard time saying more than a few words at once, partly due to effort, partly due to his shyness.

Pouty ;; When Laike doesn't get his way, he broods. He gets huffy, complains, and does whatever he can to either avoid the thing that caused him to brood, or avoid the person that stopped him from getting his way. While he might get a little haughty and spicy, any sort of physical confrontation is strictly out of the question. He usually gives up his act after about a week, if only because brooding demands a lot of energy.

H O B B I E S ┆

Flowers ;; Flowers are a meditative task -- one without much physical labor involved. Laike has been growing flowers since his early teens, thanks to his grandmother's mischievous involvement in his life, and he's gotten good enough at it to not kill the flowers anymore. His favorites to keep are orchids, and they're often the ones that get cycled through his street-facing window (because he must show them off to strangers). He wants to learn bouquet arrangement, but that sounds like effort... Ikebana too, but also, effort... So he keeps to growing them.

Video games ;; Mostly a Dead Cells and Soulsborne fan, he's interested in games that are genuinely frustrating or difficult. He'll stream, usually on Mondays in the late afternoon, but generally prefers to play without other people watching him. He will play with other people in the case of Overwatch, League of Legends, or FFXIV. As seldom as he admits it, his favorite game times are with other Twitch personalities regardless of fame, whether the game is in his wheelhouse or not. His Twitch channel is drowninginthelaike.

Naps ;; Laike used to nap in class, but now he naps in cars. Usually he convinces (or begs) other people to drive him around so he could get that cat nap in -- especially since his work won't let him nap at the register during slow hours (they want him to clean and it's preposterous). Couches are fair game too, and they don't have to be owned by him. Quick cat naps are the best naps, but when he's in a comfortable place, napping for hours is just as good. He'd sleep his life away if he could.

All families are the same in their happiness, but unique in their unhappiness.

Sister ;; 阴沉河, Yinchen He. Laike's brilliant, driven younger sister. She's emotionally grounded, mature, and always ready to give advice. She wants to be a hematologist.
Father ;; 阴沉毅, Yinchen Yi. He tries to live up to his name, but is soft with Laike. Didn't have a lot to do with raising the kids. An architect by trade.
Mother ;; 刘蕾, Liu Lei. A spitfire in her youth, but she's mellowed out to be a supportive parent. She takes after her mom.
Grandmother ;; 长孙莲, Zhangsun Lian. Mischievous thing, people misjudge her by her age and she gets up to no good. Taught Laike how to tend flowers.

The interstice is more of a shadow realm and not an actual location. The target is unhurt, unseen, and untouchable. When the time expires, the target will return to reality within a 10' radius of Niter.
