Prologue & Setpost

Prologue (Optional):

With a General's reach in draining, the security officer quickly fell before he laid eyes on the pair of Generals. The lit one motioned to the other to standby, then opened the double doors to the immaculate Farnsworth Building.

"Help," he told the secretary, though his voice was only halfway full of urgency, "I'm on fire."

The secretary, feeling shocked, stood up and approached him. She couldn't fully understand what she saw. She wanted to help him. She wanted to tell him to stop, drop, and roll. She wanted to call him an ambulance. It was all she could do to gape.

A boy stood at the opposite edge of the desk. He and the secretary were having a disagreement on whether one Anita Bath worked in the building, and if they were getting their #6 from Jimmy John's that day. In the commotion, he turned and watched. He watched the boy on fire walk up to the older, slovenly secretary. He watched the boy reach for her. Reach through her. He watched the boy pull something from her chest. He watched her fall. He watched the boy eat the gem that came from her chest. He watched the fires climb higher. He backed up until his heels touched the wall, and he clutched his bag full of sub sandwich to his stomach.

He watched a man in black and blue arrive, spear in one hand and cat on the other shoulder. He watched the man press his spear sidelong against the burning boy's lack of stomach. The tassel caught fire, and the cat changed shoulders between them. They exchanged words he didn't understand. The black-and-blue man vanished.

The boy on fire took him by the neck with speed he couldn't process. His hands burned, his breath smelled like char. The boy said to evacuate everyone if he didn't want to burn. He didn't, so he nodded sheepishly.

---

The black-and-blue man appeared on the top floor, spear at the ready. At first, no one noticed him. At first, each of the cubicle occupants were on calls, filling the large room with a cacophony of their voices. The black-and-blue man told everyone to leave if they didn't want to get hurt. Their response was mixed.

Some froze. Some disconnected their calls out of consternation. One threw a stapler at the man, who deflected it with the haft of his spear. One screamed. Some followed orders and left, taking their bags with them. But most of the room sat still, hypnotized by this strange midday spectacle.

A bald man sat behind the black-and-blue man, in a cubicle covered with pictures of dogs. He reached for his cell phone, which sat next to his keyboard, which sat next to a framed photo of a Maltese. As he took his phone off the lock screen, the digital click of his typing alerted the black-and-blue man. Before he touched the first digit of 9-1-1, a spear went through his forearm. He stared at the weapon, confused, until the pain set in when it pulled away.

People saw he was serious. People started getting out of their seats and moving for the stairs, for the elevators. The black-and-blue man held his burning spear up to one of the smoke detectors. It started shrieking. Sprinklers activated, wetting down thousands of papers and ruining their ink.

---

The cat was satisfied with basking in the heat of its new ride. Warmth and comfort made the job of aura suppression easier. The smell of barbecue, however, left him hungry.

The cat watched their timid Jimmy John's delivery driver enter one of the call centers. He heard the stutters coming from the driver's throat -- small fits and starts that no human could hear. Then he managed, in conversational volume, to ask everyone if they could please leave. The cat licked his chops. This kid wasn't doing so hot, comparison intended.

The cat was right. Everyone ignored him. They had work to do.

A boy on fire was harder to ignore. He strolled briskly, touching everything he could find and resting his hands on stacks of paper until they burned. He stepped on a desk, and the woman using it dropped her pencil. He stood on a narrow corner where four cubicles met, and the smoke from his body tripped the sprinkler system. While water sprayed over them, the cat hid under half of the burning boy's split cape.

People were startled out of their calls. They stood and looked at each other over the thin blue backing of their cubicles. They saw fire. They saw a Jimmy John's delivery driver waving them toward an exit. They knew what to do.

---

They each knew what to do. While the black-and-blue man went down, the burning boy and the cat went up. They met in the middle.

This floor was the same as any other. Small fires begat sprinkler action. People stood up, people asked each other what was going on. Someone made a startled observation of the fires. Someone else struck the burning boy in the back of the head with a fire extinguisher and opened the nozzle at him.

The burning boy was dazed, sputtering, and struggled to collect himself. He gathered to his feet while the cat shrieked his protests in the boy's ear. He was covered in some kind of white chemical. He felt sick.

The cat lost his focus to the sudden attack. What the cat saw was a Page, and she was poised over them with the extinguisher in hand. He leapt for her before she could trigger her weapon again. He landed on the shaft of a spear that extended from her stomach. The man in black-and-blue held the spear. Then he held her starseed, too.

The spear had gone out, extinguished by the chemicals clutching to the cat's body. The cat leapt back onto the man's shoulder and began furiously cleaning himself off. The man withdrew his spear from the inert Page.

The burning boy, still dazed, drained the rest of their delivery driver's nervous energy. Duty done, the three rejoined and vanished from the space, where sprinklers drowned every floor.

Setpost:

It's May 17th. The early hours of the afternoon posed the sun high in the sky, half-hidden by clouds, with shadows cast sharp in one moment and diffuse in the next. Traffic throttled the street as overlapping lunch hours of various offices sent people out to their favorite lunch spots. In the middle of this, the Farnsworth building stood tall, pristine, and uninterrupted.

It's ten floors' worth of brutalist building, made of light tan concrete, and black mirrored glass that covered most of each surface. A pair of old double doors stood intimidatingly between the building's innards and the general public. A security guard loitered there, mostly looking at his phone. Around back, a single door existed for employees to exit back into an undersized parking lot.

Apart from its main street, the Farnsworth building was surrounded by myriad alleyways, most designed for walkers and delivery drivers, with a smattering of gates that formed artificial dead-ends. Other structures were built in the same era to the same or slightly smaller height.

While no smoke has escaped the Farnsworth, people have begun to filter out both ends. For those watching the roof, two Generals (Benitoite, Faustite) and a Mauvian (Epsilon) have materialized atop the building.

The two are joined by a third (Scheelite), and fifteen youma are pulled from the Rift. Agents and corrupted senshi alike recognize this as the queue to begin.

Rules & FAQ

Quote:
Rules:

1.) Respect each other.
2.) Have fun.
3.) Please don't post for your Negaverse character in this ORP if you do not want them to participate. They will be ordered to join, and they must be General or above to ignore orders and do what they want without repercussion.
4.) Have questions? Please ask! I'm available on here or Discord -- Strickenized #7375.

tl;dr / All Characters:

If your character is Order or Order-leaning, they're free to do whatever they want. No, really -- that's the perk of being Order. They can engage any officer of their choosing, try to save civilians, form a tactical plan to foil the goings-on, the sky's the limit (within reason). No space laser tactical nukes unless your character's done the footwork and you've gone through the mods.

If your character is DMC and not Negaverse sympathetic, they may do as they please. Attack Order, attack the Negaverse, drain their target civilians, protect civilians, the sky's the limit (within reason).

If your character is DMC and Negaverse sympathetic, they are free to fight Order or come help officers on the sly. Faustite hates the DMC, so please bear that in mind if your character chooses to introduce themselves and formally join the operation.

Negaverse Only:
Quote:
If your character is Negaverse, please check the quote list for a refresher on where they're stationed and any optional dice prompts. If your character missed the meeting ORP and is now showing up to the fun, assume they are on standby and consider using the optional for everyone else dice prompts.

There are optional dicerolls for this event, which will generate prompts for you! These are in case there's no one around for your character to interact with. If you do not want to use dice rolls, please play as though the operation is largely going as planned with some minor setbacks starting to swerve off course. Please note that, even if you use dice rolls, your characters' actions will have bearing on how this ORP ends. You can always work together with other people on a prompt, if you like and it makes sense to do so.

If you are using dice roll prompts and a character confronts yours, please prioritize the other player over the dice rolls! If you are in the middle of a two-part prompt and a character confronts yours, please roll the second part in your next post and resolve the prompt at the top, then focus on the other character.

Quote:
Energy and Starseed Scores:

If using dice roll prompts, you will notice that some of the prompts mention energy and starseed scores. These will not adversely affect your character in any way, and starseed scores are completely optional per character preference. There is no OOC reward for getting a high score -- and I have not cleared an IC reward with staff -- but your character will look great in front of their peers if they make a killing on starseeds or energy!

If you are not using dice prompts but would like your character to continue draining energy or taking starseeds, please roll 1d5. If gathering energy, the number equates to the energy score your character receives (e.g. if a 5 is rolled, your character gains +5 energy). If gathering starseeds, rolling 1-2 nets 0 starseeds and 3-5 nets 1 starseed.

Still not sure about the scores? Feel free to contact me! They're completely optional, so if you don't feel like keeping track, don't worry about it!

Damage and Fights:

There's no number tracking for damage. However, your character can still get too damaged to continue the operation.

If using dice rolls, if your character gets moderate damage twice, they become too damaged to continue the operation. They can get an evac by Scheelite, which works as the character's exit, or they can radio Faustite for a different exit or the possibility to continue.
If your character receives mild damage 3x, or 2x mild damage and 1x moderate damage, they become too damaged to continue the operation. Follow the above instructions.

If fighting a PC, you can either decide yourselves how the battle will go, OR roll 1d10. If evens, Order wins. If odds, Chaos wins. Whoever wins walks away with moderate damage. If you're deciding yourselves, you can also decide if the winner takes any damage, and if so, how much damage they take.

Prompts & Instructions

Click the spoiler, find your name, and any instructions or prompts for your character/s will be displayed!

Demy-Stardust
Scheelite:
Keep close to the heart of the operation and keep watch over its participant officers. Should any call for an evac or look ready to fall, you're on it. RP this as you like or roll 1d4.

  1. While you watch the streets, you notice a youma that doesn't seem to be chasing a civilian, and doesn't seem to have an agent attached to it. Upon second glance, you know it's not a youma that you summoned. You know Benitoite and Faustite hadn't summoned this youma, either, so either it's a straggler or there's a Captain who lost track of their personal youma. No harm done, though; it can still be put to use.

You can ignore it and focus your thoughts elsewhere, or you can confront the youma. If you do, it seems receptive to your instruction; you can tell it to join the others, resulting in an overall increase in energy productivity (+5% total energy score), send it after one of the straggling Order arrivals (+1 to starseed score), or send it to help a nearby agent (+5 to energy score as a token of their appreciation).
  2. An officer nervously calls out over the comms -- they have an as-yet-unspecified problem, and they nervously request that you contact them on a private channel. In doing so, you carefully and patiently pry the pertinent information from this skittish recruit. Were they hurt? Did something happen to their youma? Are they lost? No, no, and no.

After a full minute, you learn that the officer followed their instructions. They ran after a youma, didn't get attacked by said youma, and drained the target civilian. But they accidentally drained that civilian to unconsciousness. They just couldn't control it, they said. They need help dealing with it, they said.

What do you do? Quote Strickenized with a response.
  3. Inevitably, isolated skirmishes have broken out over the course of the operation. Whether the officers were ambushed, or they were simply a target out of bad luck, you couldn't say. One of these skirmishes occurs while the other high ranking officers are tied up in their own affairs, and it's close enough that it falls under your purview.

As you get closer, you get a view of the fight, and it's looking bad for both sides: The offending Squire is covered in blood and limping from a deep slash in their left thigh, and they've a smattering of superficial cuts that nicked through their Jovian attire; and the officer is swaying under the heavy influence of pain. A second look confirms it -- broken arm, broken nose.

Experience tells you that the Squire can be starseeded without too much trouble. Experience also tells you that the Captain is in immediate need of medical attention before they lapse into shock.

Which choice will you make? If you take out the Squire, gain +1 starseed to your starseed score. If you save the Captain but leave the Squire, gain +10 energy to your energy score from the Captain's gratefulness.
  4. That call you've been dreading all afternoon has arrived -- someone urgently needs help. Instinct kicks in and you're gone from your home base and onto the next building by the time this officer relays their message to you. It's a grimly familiar tale: this Super was following orders and got ambushed by the enemy. They tell you to find them in one of the more distant sections of the draining operation.

And it wasn't the rescue you expected it to be. The corrupt Super is face down on the pavement, clearly still alive, but a White Moon Eternal has their pretty soldier boot leveraged on the middle of the officer's back. They tell you that they defeated one of your cronies, and tell you to call off the operation or else they'll defeat the rest. They must think you're in charge.

If you attack, roll 1d3. If 1 or 2, you win, but sustain moderate damage. If 3, you lose.
If you parley, quote Strickenized for a response.

Epsilon:
Where everyone else has a hands-on mission, yours takes place online -- and it's every bit as important as the rest of the operation. The cameras need to be hacked and people's cell phones must be jammed so no one is filming the Negaverse in action. RP this as you like, or roll 1d4.

  1. An Order character spots the pair of you on the rooftop and beelines for your location. A second stage by feel, they're terribly quick, and will reach you before you finish what you're doing. You're aware of the orders -- call if you're spotted -- and you know you can ask your partner or call Cybele, Kamacite, or Faustite for assistance.

Provided you have the time to do so.

If you choose to fight alone, roll 1d3. If 1, you win, but with moderate damage. If 2-3, you lose.
If you choose to fight with your partner, roll 1d3. If 1, you win, but with moderate damage. If 2, you win without damage. If 3, you lose.
If you fight with your partner and call for assistance, roll 1d3. If 1, you win, but with moderate damage. If 2, you win without damage. If 3, you win without damage and come away with something extra (+10 to energy score or +1 to starseed score).
  2. You keep taking down the building's cameras but someone keeps setting them back up. It's become a high-stakes whack-a-mole game at this rate, and you're getting tired of it. You can backtrace who it is and hack them directly, or you can ask your partner to go in and cut the wires to some of the cameras. You think, with all the commotion about, they should have enough cover to do so.

If you hack them back, roll 1d5. If evens, they've succeeded and temporarily shut down your terminal. If odds, you succeed and shut down their terminal. In the meantime, however, more cameras have come online.
If you ask your partner to cut wires, the partner rolls 1d5. If evens, they manage to cut some wires but are intercepted by a senshi. They escape, but with mild damage. If odds, they cut a decent number of cameras and escape without notice. Your rival is still able to get cameras online, but they have fewer to manage.
  3. All's going well on the digital end of things, and you're set to leave it alone for a minute. What do you step out to do? Do you go for a coffee and/or smoke break? Play some video games on your Switch? Join the operation for a minute and drain one of the civilians? Find a Negaverse friend and help them out for a few minutes? Something else?
  4. Uh-oh. One of the youma has decided to scale the building in search for a snack, and discovered one Lieutenant and one Mauvian in the process. You know you don't have enough gym badges to order it around, and neither do most of your on-call contacts (Kamacite, Cybele). There's two of you though, so if it has to be dealt with by yourselves, you think the pair of you can take it on.

If you fight it alone, roll 1d3. If 1-2, you win, but sustain mild damage. If 3, you win, but sustain moderate damage.
If you call Kamacite or Cybele (or any corrupted senshi), the youma is dusted without damage to any member.
If you call Faustite (or any captain+ agent), the youma is rerouted to a different part of the operation.

guine

Kamacite:
Where Scheelite is watching for officers' wellbeing and Cybele is looking for intruders, you are staying vigilant for conflict within. Should any civilian become an Order member, or anyone slip past Cybele, they're in your territory. RP this as you like, or roll 1d4.

  1. One of the draining personnel sounded off over the comms; they'd chased after one of the retreating civilians, only to find that they're a senshi -- a more powerful one than the officer. For now, the officer sounds panicked. They're not firm in their combat training, being of one of the less combat-focused branches, and this senshi isn't one for peaceful negotiations. Their comm line cuts short with a burst of static, but not before the officer gives their approximate location.

Once you arrive, the officer will be imminently defeated, and the senshi has backup. You can (1) evac the officer and retreat, (2) face off with the two supers alone, or (3) fight them with assistance (Kamacite, Faustite, or Cybele).

If 1, you recover the officer, but their energy is lost (+0 to energy score).
If 2, roll 1-3 on your next post. If 1-2, you win, but sustain moderate damage. If 3, you lose.
If 3, roll 1-3 on your next post. If 1, you win without sustaining damage. If 2, you win without damage and gain a little extra (+10 to energy score or +1 to starseed score). If 3, you win but sustain moderate damage.
  2. A smattering of enemy energy signatures have surrounded an officer in the distance. None feels like they're winking out yet. The officer is clearly within the confines of the draining operation, but has not called for help nor moved in any way. You know from the isolated flurries of auric activity that a fight could break out in another section at any moment, so investigating might prove troublesome.

Still, something about it gives you a bad feeling. What do you do? Quote Strickenized with your response. (( Strickenized / Faustite is exempt from this prompt. ))
  3. As you wait for a call to action, you do the math in your head: three Generals can together pull fifteen youma from the Rift. Why, then, are you counting more than fifteen youma on the field? Perhaps you wonder if the collection of Chaos signatures called them or if their long history with Senshi pulled them from the deep. Whatever the reason, they've become a nuisance to the operation, and sometimes even a danger.

For Kamacite: You have the opportunity to use your magic and disorient the youma, which will block off an exit for civilians as the youma stumble around. Nearby officers and you will be able to drain these civilians for a boost in overall energy score (+5% of total, calculated by Strickenized).
Or, you can wait for more to gather. (( If this prompt is rolled again, gain +10% boost in overall energy score. ))

For Faustite: You have the opportunity to intercept the youma and order them to intercept the enemy. Nearby officers will be able to incapacitate the enemies for a boost in overall starseed score (+3 to total).
Or, you can wait for more to gather. (( If this prompt is rolled again, gain +5 to overall starseed score. ))
  4. As part of the eyes and ears, you while away the time by watching some of the agents at work down below. One agent, ever dutiful and adherent, pursues the aura of a youma that skittered into a dead end. The officer corners the person, catches their arm, starts the draining process. But their intended victim pulls a pen from their bag and holds it aloft, swathing themselves in sparkles and rays. When their transformation sequence ends, the officer now faces one pissed off corrupted senshi.

They kick off a yelling match, and the senshi looks well prepared to start using magic on an ally. Do you intervene? Do you let it happen? Something else? Quote Strickenized with your response.

Taenite:
Your assigned role is to funnel civilians away from the building and send youma after them. Chambersite commands the collection of 15 youma summoned by the Generals while Taenite and Cymophane use skills and magic to herd the civilians at the exits. You can RP this as you like, or roll 1d6.

  1. A civilian runs from the building, sees you, and asks for help. You see, her purse is still in there, with her wallet and car keys and cell phone, and she's afraid the fire department won't respond in time for her to save her things. She insists her entire life is about to burn.

What do you do? Do you follow your orders? Drain her (+5 to energy score), starseed her (+1 to starseed score), something else?
  2. Another civilian exits the building and sees you. They must recognize something about you or your uniform, because they freeze for a moment, staring, before they try to take off down a side alley. What do you do? Quote Strickenized with your response.
  3. There's more than just the handfuls of youma that the Generals summoned -- and these interlopers are taking a hungry fancy to you. One stares you down, roars, and begins to charge.

You can work with your allies (Taenite, Cymophane, Chambersite, Kamacite, or Faustite) to deal with the youma and avoid injury, or you can take it on yourself and sustain some damage. ((If using teamwork, please quote the relevant party so they know!))
  4. You knew this might happen eventually, but you had hoped against hope that it wouldn't. One of the enemy walks out of the building, and they're equal to you in rank. You know you have to engage them, both for your own safety and for the safety of your fellow officers. You can either fight them alone, or with your comrades.

If you choose to fight them alone, roll 1d3. If 1 or 2, you win, but sustain moderate damage. If 3, you lose. ((Quote Demy-Stardust for Scheelite to evac your character.))
If you choose to fight them with a comrade (Taenite, Cymophane, Chambersite, Kamacite or Faustite), roll 1d3. If 1, you win without taking damage. If 2, you win without taking damage and make out with a little extra (+10 to energy score or +1 to starseed score). If 3, you win, but sustain moderate damage.

((If your character sustains moderate damage twice, your character will become too damaged to adequately perform their duties. Quote Demy-Stardust for Scheelite to evac them, or quote Strickenized to relay the events to Faustite. The former will be an exit for your character, and the latter will either be an exit in a different way or an opportunity to continue participating.))
  5. One of your comrades that was defending the perimeter took a bad fall -- right into the path you were using to funnel the civilians. They seem pretty hurt, which signifies a burgeoning Order presence. What do you do? Quote Strickenized with your response.
  6. What a dream -- everything is proceeding as planned. You even manage to scalp energy off of some civilians as they pass by (+10 to energy score). You couldn't have asked for your position to go any smoother than this.

LittleLilyKitty

Cora, Turquoise:
Faustite gave you orders to stay on standby until the youma are released. Now that they've chased civilians from the building and into the labyrinthine alleyways of Destiny City, it's up to you to rendezvous with that youma and drain or starseed their target. If anyone tries to stop you, you know who to call. RP this as you like, or roll 1d6.

  1. You follow one of the youma to find a civilian that's paralyzed with fear. They stare at you, terror blatant in their eyes, as they're trying to find a way out of one of Destiny City's famous dead-ends without getting mauled by an unfathomable beast. They manage a pleading 'help' yelled in your direction.

What do you do? Do you drain them (+5 to orb score)? Starseed them (+1 to starseed score)? Walk away?
  2. You follow another youma and find one of the feisty civilians, who's having at the youma with whatever they found on hand. The youma seems cowed, and is on the losing end of this impromptu battle. Whoever this person is, they've got a great pair of lungs, because they won't stop yelling obscenities at your nonhuman comrade.

You can walk away or approach the person. If you choose to approach, roll 1d2. If 1, you successfully drain the person (+7 to orb score or +1 to starseed score). If 2, you attempt to drain them, but they manage to hit you and break your concentration (+0 to orb score or starseed score).
  3. You follow a youma, only to discover that the poor, dumb thing actually lost its prey. What do you do? Quote Strickenized with your response.
  4. You couldn't have asked for this to go better. Each civilian you tracked down was either too distracted to notice you or too ready to give up their energy in exchange for their lives. Gain +10 to energy score OR +5 to energy and +1 to starseed scores OR +2 to starseed score.
  5. Trouble finally found you. You face down an ornery Order aura of the same rank as you. They quickly find you in the labyrinthine alleyways and staggered rooftops of the city, and confront you for the crimes you're committing. Battle seems inescapable.

You can either engage them alone or alongside allies (Kamacite, Cybele or Faustite).
If alone, roll 1d3. If 1 or 2, you win, but sustain moderate damage. If 3, you lose. (Quote Demy-Stardust for Scheelite to evac your character.)
If with allies, roll 1d3. If 1, you win without injury. If 2, you win without injury and walk away with a little extra (+5 to energy score or +1 to starseed score). If 3, you win but sustain moderate damage.

((If your character sustains moderate damage twice, your character will become too damaged to adequately perform your duties. Quote Demy-Stardust for Scheelite to evac you, or quote Strickenized to relay the events to Faustite. The former will be an exit for your character, and the latter will either be an exit in a different way or an opportunity to continue participating.))
  6. You follow a youma signature, but once you find it, there's no civilian to be found. It doesn't seem to be one of the youma the Generals summoned, either -- this one seems furious and unwilling to yield to orders. You'll have to fight it, escape, or bribe it.

If you fight it, roll 1d3. If 1 or 2, you sustain mild damage, but win. If 3, the youma gets its claws into you, but you get through the fight with moderate damage.
If you escape, subtract 5 energy or 1 starseed from your score. You had to use something for a distraction.
If you bribe it, subtract 10 energy or 2 starseeds from your count. Multiply all future energy gains by 1.5. ((This option is only usable once in the ORP per character.))

((If your character sustains mild damage 3 times or moderate damage twice, they will become too damaged to reasonably participate in the mission. Quote Demy-Stardust for Scheelite to evac them, or quote Strickenized to relay the events to Faustite. The former will be an exit for your character, and the latter will either be an exit in a different way or an opportunity to continue participating.))

Faustite has no further instructions. You may assist where able (and use the prompt table for that role if using dice rolls), or come up with your own plans.

Miyamoto:

Chambersite:

Eveite (she was at the meeting, but no pressure):

Cybele:
Stalk the perimeter for any interlopers. You have leave to engage where necessary. RP this as you like or roll 1d4.

  1. You can feel it further out -- a group of Order signatures. They creep toward the operation, probably expecting that no one in the operation is paying attention to them. If you concentrate, you can count four in total, though you can only get sights on two of them. Two signatures -- the two you can't see -- wink out, and the other two press forward, presumably to engage the operation.

Even though two of the signatures vanished, you can guess that they're lying in wait to ambush someone, and that the two who pressed forward are supposed to lure some hapless officers back. None of the four felt high-ranked, either.

You can try to find and confront the two vanished signatures, or you can do something about the pair that stayed powered up, or you can do something else entirely. Quote Strickenized with your response.
  2. You feel two skirmishes break out simultaneously, each on opposite ends of the operation. That isn't so much a problem for teleportation, but you know that resolving one means critical time will have passed before you can teleport to the other.

The nearer one feels like two low-level Order on one mid-level Chaos. You might guess that Order found one of the draining officers. If you resolve this one first, you will find that the agent is actually a latecomer who has arrived to provide backup to the operation. Your assistance will net the operation +5% to overall energy score (Strickenized will calculate at the end). However, when you turn your attention to the second skirmish, you will find that the pair of Captains who had been starseeding were incapacitated and had their bounties stolen (-5 to overall starseed score).

The further one feels like a two-on-two. Two Captains, a Super and a Squire. Upon approach, you find that the Squire has wrested a bounty of starseeds from one of the Captains, and the pair of Captains have been focused on this Squire. This opened them up to attacks from the Super, who keeps barraging them with spells as fast as she can cast them. If you intercede and resolve the conflict, your assistance will net the operation +5 to overall starseed score (Strickenized will calculate at the end). However, when you turn your attention to the second skirmish, you will find that a few of the draining officers have been incapacitated (-5% to overall energy score).
  3. You've surveyed the area twice, now, and haven't seen any more attackers break through. The frontlines are finally clear, and you have a moment to take stock of yourself. Do you need more energy? Do you have enough spells left? Could you use a pick-me-up?

A civilian running through one of the narrow alleyways catches your eye; they managed to slip their youma. You could take a minute to drain them while the coast is clear and have a boost for later. (+5 to energy score or +1 to starseed score). It could help out in a pinch.

Or, you can use some of your stocked energy to perk yourself up. (-5 to energy score, replenish 1 use of basic magic).
  4. What started as a fight with one tenacious Super became a much longer fight with a Super and a Knight. Worse yet, the Knight has a buff ability that synergizes with the Super's magic attacks. You've been at this fight for a while, now, and the damage is mounting, and your muscles are sore and yearning to give out. You know there's a whole operation out there that's exposed for the time being, but you know nothing good will come of leaving this pair alone.

The Super's tenacity stems from a revelation -- the Super recognizes you. They must.

You know you have to do something different, but your choices are limited.

You can retreat, if Scheelite calls you or bodily hauls you back from the fight (communicate with Demy-Stardust).
You can call for backup, by pulling from Kamacite or Faustite.
Or you can keep fighting on your own, by rolling 1d5. If evens, you sustain mild damage and may reroll. If odds, you incapacitate the Super and sustain mild damage. If the Super gets knocked out, roll another 1d5 with the same rules for the Knight.

Faustite:

[Rolling for Nega trio: Paracelsian, Nambulite, Cafetite]

Captain Paracelsian - Prompt 2

What the hell was all this?

Paracelsian had missed the briefing for whatever this was, but he got an order from someone to stand by until youma were released from a certain location. It sounded like messy business, the kind that he ordinarily would refuse to countenance. If he received any proof that civilians were unnecessarily harmed, and he had a feeling that he would, he was going to have words with the orchestrator when he could. Running around the city rampantly killing civilians was not his style in the least. In fact, it ran completely counter to his overall goals. Unfortunately, he was in no position to entirely refuse orders for a plan he'd only half-heard about (if that), so he would obey in his own way.

He followed a youma he'd spotted running down the street, and briefly lost track of it... only to find it being completely pummeled by some madwoman with an uncanny grasp on improvised weapons. She was using pipes, rocks, a stiletto heel, she even slammed it into the wall a few times with a bizarrely well-aimed body slam... and she did all this while calling the beast names that Paracelsian had no idea existed as valid permutations. Figuring that the youma was a loss, he decided that he ought to at least try and get the woman to safety. Even if this one didn't get her, the next one might.

(Rolling to drain next post!)

Lt. Cafetite - Prompt 3

Cafetite had a vague inkling that her "adoptive" Captain was hiding information from her. How would she have missed that such a big operation was going down? The instructions to wait on standby came out of nowhere, and she felt extremely lucky that she didn't have cafe work today. She was able to power up and head right over to the epicenter of where everything was.

She was a bit unsure of what exactly to do, but she figured that the youma may have been given specific guidance on paths to follow, so looking for one was a good place to start. As she searched, she happened upon a youma that looked like a giant Pomeranian with spikes in its fur. It was in the dead end of an alley, sniffing around and looking as confused as a youma of its kind could look. Unable to resist the evil spiked fluffer, Cafetite approached it carefully, talking quietly to avoid upsetting it. "Hi, pupper," she crooned. "What are you looking for? Which way did it go? Can you show me?" Granted, as she was a Lieutenant it probably wouldn't care much about what she was saying, but it was worth a shot.

Lieutenant Nambulite - Prompt 3

Nambulite was just about giddy to see some action. There was going to be Chaos, which meant there would be regular chaos, which probably meant there would be loot... probably. Maybe he'd even get a starseed today! He wasn't sure why he hadn't heard something big was about to go down, but he wasn't going to think too hard about it or look a gift horse in the mouth. He was going to come out swinging, and he was going to get as much as he could out of it!

So he ran down the streets of Destiny City near the center of the strike, cackling like a madman the whole time. It was like running with the bulls, except it was running with the youma. At one point, though, he spotted a stray youma strolling out of an alley with a surprising nonchalance. There was no one behind it or in front of it, and he saw nothing in the alley the youma had exited out of. He doubted this bat-rat-fink-looking youma could have eaten a corpse whole, so clearly the youma had lost its target. Or, somehow, it just didn't care and was farting around. Could youma even do that? Nambulite walked right past the beast and tried to beckon it to come to him. "C'mon! I don't know what corner of the rift they pulled you out of, but we're both gonna pull our weight today!"

Strickenized

Squire Pendour

Even Pendour's awful encounters with the Negaverse had been personal. The night she'd lost the eye, and even the chaos of last summer's ambush had all had people seeking out her, or her friends, because of something she'd done, or because of the Order magic that she had.

She'd heard rumors of seemingly random attacks on buildings in broad daylight, but she hadn't seen it, not really.

Not until now.

The weather was nice enough that she was walking through the business district, on the way home from a meeting with a client when she saw someone dressed head to toe in black. Aren't they hot, she wondered at first. It was edging towards summer now, and the sun was strong, and the air was sticky.

Her gaze followed the person down the street, and she realized what she was looking at at about the same time that she heard the muffled fire alarms.

She ducked into an alleyway to power up, and the Chaos hit her all at once then, like the air pressure drop before a thunderstorm. Although, like with those storms, it took her a while to actually see the lightning. The agent she'd spotted was out of sight by the time she was back on the street. All she saw was a smallish youma, one that seemed to be made mostly of sludge, chasing after a woman and gaining on her.

Well, that was no good. With her Squire speed, she could easily outrun it, even carrying someone, and so she dashed forward, scooping up the civillian and murmuring some reassurances while she continued out of reach.

Corrupt Eternal Cybele- Prompt 4

In the days after the meeting, Cybele had spent some time wondering how useful the task she'd been given was. She would be wandering the perimeter, looking for intrusions, which was fine, but being as the attack on the building was scheduled for midafternoon while Order tended to patrol at night, she wasn't sure what kind of resistance they were going to encounter. As an Eternal, she was very efficient at gathering energy. She'd thought that that might be what she ended up doing, if things were quiet.

It turned out that five minutes in, she was fighting for her life.

She'd come across a Super who had stopped to stare at her, wide eyed, the way that people who recognized had done in the past. Unlike the others, though, who had backed down and gone kinder once they saw the old Cybele in her, this girl's lips twisted into a snarl after only a second, and she threw out some sort of light magic that burned Cybele's skin and eyes before she had time to react.

Cybele snarled back, adrenaline quickly rising. This was what she'd been meant to be doing, ever since she'd been recruited.

They traded blows. The girl had a desperate sort of determination on her side, but Cybele had training, and strength, and once she had a chance to get her magic off, focus. She could feel the senshi wearing down, and getting sloppy with her punched, and Cybele had almost gotten a grab on her starseed when the Knight showed up.

He waved his staff in the air, and suddenly the spark in the girl's eye glinted just as bright as before, while Cybele could still feel the bruises she's acquired, especially as her own magic flickered and faded, leaving the world in its normal, slightly muffled state.

Cybele glanced between the two of them, only having time to doge the next two attacks without getting in any punches of her own.

She thought about the communicator pen, hooked onto her ribbons just in case.

She thought about someone else coming face to face with this senshi who fought like someone ready to kill, or the Knight who was powerful and hard to read. She thought about them going after someone who had more to loose, and she did not like that thought.

A fist connected with her stomach. She stumbled backwards, breathless. If she went down, she thought, they'd go after someone else, instead.

She stumbled backwards father still, ducking into an alleyway for a few extra seconds of cover. She unhooked the pen and lifted it to her lips.

"This is Cybele. North side. Requesting backup," she said, tone calm even as she heard the footsteps approaching again.

Captain Paracelsian - Prompt 2, Part 2

"Hold still!" Paracelsian shouted, dashing towards the woman. That seemed to startle her enough to get her to fumble the debris that she was planning to whack the youma with next. With his Captain speed, he was behind her in no time, and he grabbed her to start the draining process. "I'm getting you out of here," he muttered. "Apologies for taking without permission, but this is a better fate than running out of energy on the next one to come for you. Trust me." The woman either nodded or drooped as she was drained (or both), and soon she slumped in his arms. The youma, meanwhile, had scuttled off to find a better target to pester and hopefully not get whupped by.

As Paracelsian left the alley with the woman in tow, he spotted a blur of blue-teal and got a flash of a Squire aura. Even as she was fleeing, seemingly with her own rescue in hand, he had a damn good feeling as to who it was. "Pen-" He blurted out the first syllable of her name. Well, he hadn't lied when he said he'd never forget her name. He'd never forget the name of the Knight who'd pestered him so hard about the potential futility of his ideals and of staying with the Negaverse. Bet she was laughing at him now, given the fact that someone was leading a potentially very bloody operation, and he hadn't been able to stop it. That stung. Still, he needed her over here, as she presented an opportunity of sorts. "You, Squire, over here, now!"

He didn't quite want to bark at her like that, but time was of the essence.

Paracelsian gets +7 orb score!

Capt. Chambersite (Prompt 4)

He had already healed from the attack from the General, so luckily he wasn't sporting a pink border around his lips anymore, but it had made him grumpy to go and continue the task. Still, it was a way to get energy and see what he could do as a Captain when it came to commanding Youma, so he decided to take the chance to see if he could improve anything on his end. He was not doing this for the General.

Unfortunately during all of the chaos they had managed to attract some Order characters, and even some DMS from what he could tell. He didn't know if the latter were there for energy as well or for some other reason, but they were not worth paying attention to. It was the others he had to worry about.

And while he had been able to route civilians and command the Youma for a bit, he was very soon interrupted by some Super Senshi who had decided to catch him on a bad day.

"Yeah, you're going to regret this buddy..." He said, before he summoned his dagger and threw it at the other.

Lt. Eveite (prompt 4)

She had managed to get into the systems before the attack had started and found their weaknesses. The phones were harder due to the individual systems being used, but weren't of too much concern considering that the fire was blocking a lot of video that could have been used.

No, the main problem was that she wasn't being allowed to DO HER ASSIGNMENT. For whatever reason whatever Youma there were weren't being completely controlled by any Captains and Generals and one had managed to scale the building while she and another Lieutenant were on the roof. The other had been there for lookout, but it didn't help when one of their own creatures decided to attack their own. The other lieutenant was pushed to the side and was having to spend some time trying to get back up. And unfortunately that meant that Eveite had to leave her laptops for a bit to be able to beat the Youma back.

How was she going to do it though? She didn't know, all she knew was that her weapons were useless unless...

She threw one at the Youma, just for a quick distraction!

Cymophane

Cymophane thought he had a pretty simple assignment. Stand by the exit, herd civilians, take energy and starseeds when able, that sort of thing. He assumed it should be easy. While he didn’t necessarily like the idea of harming civilians, collecting energy wasn’t that big of an ask. They would recover from that, so long as they managed to escape the area alive.

He did what he could to make sure they had that chance. A dead civilian was a useless civilian, right?

Unfortunately, things didn’t quite go as smoothly as he was expecting. Yes, civilians rushed out of the building, and yes, he herded them along, snatching a bit of energy here and there as he did so, smiling his usual bright smile to lull a few into a false sense of security, but then a Senshi walked out of the building.

Not a Senshi like him. It was one of the White Moon, their outfit full of pristine white and made of fluttery fabric, very sweet looking, until Cymophane caught the furious expression on their face.

“Hi,” Cymophane greeted them with a smile and a jaunty wave. “Do you work here?”

He would have to engage. The Senshi was no stronger than him, at least, so even if this was his first real battle against the forces of the White Moon, at least they were evenly matched.

“Hey, Tae!” he called around the corner to his companion, stationed near the other door. “You want to help with this one or should I take them alone?”

Eternal Corrupted Kamacite

With the operation underway, Kamacite took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. He was keeping an eye on things as much as he could, carefully monitoring the auras around him in case any White Moon decided to join the fight, and keeping an ear open for any calls for help.

Which came sooner than he would have liked.

“Kamacite responding. On my way, Cybele,” he said into his own communicator pen before tucking it back into his robes and teleporting to her location.

He’d cut his hair short before the operation. It would grow back, of course, but he didn’t want to give any White Moon an additional advantage over him. His flowing robes were loose enough that he could slip out of them if they were grabbed, but his hair had caused him problems in the past. Now his hair was in a ponytail that reached just above his shoulders, so it still stayed out of his eyes.

When he arrived, he didn’t see Cybele immediately, but saw the Super Senshi and Knight that were apparently giving her trouble.

A little too late.

The two were already in pursuit of the other Eternal, and Kamacite teleported a little too close for him to be able to appropriately use his magic, but he could stall them. He aimed a kick to the Super’s stomach, but the Knight must have swung a weapon at him that would surely leave him with bruised ribs, and Kamacite stumbled into the alley wall. But in doing so he at least got a glimpse of Cybele, who was still alive at least.

Corrupted Taenite

Did someone lock the door from the inside, because not many civilians were coming through his door, for some reason. They all seemed to be favoring Cymophane’s exit, which was fine, but he was bored with just drawing energy from a few civilians here and there.

So when Cymophane called for the chance to assist, Taenite jumped at the opportunity.

“What’ve we got?” he grinned as he took one last look at his exit and figured the youma around would help with the herding, and turned to focus his attention on Cymophane and the Senshi in white.

“Oh, these guys starseeds are supposed to be much more valuable than civilians,” Taenite said to his companion, not caring if the Senshi heard.

Sailor Perdita

With the figure skating season over and her sophomore year at DCU successfully completed, Haven had a few weeks to relax before her summer courses started. On this glorious May afternoon, she was out with Peter with the intention of grabbing a quick lunch, which turned into a long lunch when they started whispering over the table, engaged in one of their usual conversations about their youma research. They had a lot to say on the subject, even if most of it pertained to things they’d already discussed many times before.

They were on an idle walk after, wandering around as they chatted, with no real destination and nothing in particular planned for the rest of the afternoon, when the sounds of people in distress filled their ears. There was screaming, and fire alarms going off, and… was that a youma?

Haven grabbed Peter’s arm and drew him to a stop.

“Trouble up ahead,” she said, though the commotion was rather obvious and he probably already noticed.

She motioned down a side street, to a dark alley tucked out of the way. Once concealed by the shadows of two buildings, Haven slipped her pen out of her bag and powered up.

As Sailor Perdita, she was no longer a twenty-year-old Chibi, but of full-fledged Senshi.

If only it hadn’t taken seven years.

Of course, now that she was powered, she could sense several auras. More than several, actually.

“That can’t be good,” she said.
