Name: Niabi (Means: "Fawn Spared By The Hunter" )
Race: Alkidike
Gender: Female
Personality: Niabi is quiet to a fault and dislikes all sort of confrontation. This tentativeness keeps her secluded from the others most of the time, and she tends to not make many friends, though not by her choosing.
Her seclusion from the others has her reaching out for odd choices in friends. She's open-minded and doesn't turn anyone away for their appearance or demeanor and lives by the mottos "Beggers can't be choosers" and "There's good in everybody".
In order to make friends with others, Niabi has to be adaptive to the circumstances and she goes along with things as they come and makes the best of all situations. Yaholo tends to put himself and her into precarious situations and she has to use ingenuity to solve the mess that they're currently in.
Growth: After Niabi's encounter with the bug mages she's secluded herself from most others. Her timidness has faded and in its place is a sense of distrust in anything not Alkidike. After such a vicious attack, who knows what someone who isn't her Sister is capable of. Her demeanor is now solemn and the bows and weapons she used to disdain are now her lifeline and defense.
History: Niabi was a strange child. For an Alkidike, she's incredibly quiet and withdrawn, non-confrontational, and can easily be overlooked. When she was younger, she used to have nightmares about holding weapons, knowing that some day she would have to actually take up fighting and join the other women. There is literally no other choice for her as an Alkidike though, so while she will learn to use the weapon, she would prefer to never be put to the test with one.
Being so quiet from such a young age has alienated her from other girls her age, and as she's grown older she's had to come to terms with the others girls not wanting to be around her much. They tend to ignore her and make fun of her for being so timid and what they assume is her lack of pride for being an Alkidike. She reaches to others who know nothing about her to make friends with and have a clean slate. Her choice in friends brings consequences to her home life though. There are eyes and ears all over the forest and whenever Niabi makes a new friend her mothers tend to know before she even gets home that night.
Her mothers, Tawiah and Esosa, constantly give her grief for her choice in friends and can't understand why she won't just make friends with the other Alkidike girls around them. This started from an early age, and continues to this day, though they have the best intentions in their hearts and Niabi knows this. They would love for Niabi to meet another Alkidike woman that she can settle down with and have plenty of children together.
Quirks:
|| Niabi keeps her hair clean and untangled at all times.
|| Niabi often likes to be by herself and gets lost in thought. She'll pull and twist on her hair when too far into thought.
|| Niabi enjoys swimming and cooling off in water and spends a lot of time hanging around water sources.
|| Niabi - go figure - is afraid of fire after encounter with the bug mages. Not ordinary fire but any fire created by magic.
|| She'll squint when she's trying to figure something out in her head.
|| When confronted with violence, Niabi's nervousness has her antennae vibrating.
|| Niabi is intrigued by the deep oceans and what's in them.
|| She has difficulty speaking to strangers.
