The sun was high in the air already, and the heat was almost too unbearable for Niabi today. She finally could get away from the village without feeling like she was sneaking around, hiding from the others her age who should be in training. Today was a day of rest.

Even the elders in her village noted that it was too hot to have any practice matches today and it was like a blessing. Now if she could only get away from the heavy, oppresive heat. The humidity in the air had her clothing sticking to her in ways she almost couldn't tolerate. But she had a spot she knew of where she can fix that.

She moved quickly and as sure-footed as she was able to manage, and made her way to her spot that she knew so well already. It was the edge of a small outlet for a river and the way the water moved in rotation with the edges before exiting back into the stream was wonderful. On some occassions it could actually put Niabi to sleep.

She looked around furtively before moving back a shrub and stepping into her space. It was closed off from the rest of Tendaji, like her personal sanctuary and it was nice. She knew no one could possiby be watching or looking for her here, and layed her clothing on a rock near the edge of the water before lowering her bare self into the swirl of water.

Blaaaaaah, it was so hot. Normally, Kaalnia was a fan of heat, but today she was definitely not the hottest thing in the jungle. Today, everything was just too hot for her to be strutting around like the hot stuff she was. Mainly, Kaalnia wanted to lie down and not move for a few hours, but lying down meant that the heat just hung around her like some obnoxious blanket, so she needed a way to make the heat go away.
And then she had the perfect idea- A swim! That would cool her down, it would be fun, and if she lay down wet, she'd stay nice and cool. Normally, she would also have thought about the chance of seeing hot Alkidike (or, more interesting yet, earthling) babes at the river, but it was way too hot for even Kaalnia to think of girls. Besides, she had this great isolated spot she liked to use in a small lagoon off of an inlet of the river that had nice calm waters and a relaxing current. It was surrounded by scented trees and smooth rocks, and she was pretty sure she had it to herself.

She flopped on the lagoon's bank and dangled hr hands in the water. "urgh... So hot..." she muttered unhappily to herself as she pulled herself towards the cool water. She didn't even care that she still had her clothes on, because it was just so miserably hot and she just wanted the nice cool water.

She was so distracted by the heat that she hadn't even noticed the naked woman a little bit further up the inlet.

Niabi had sunk up to her neck, her hair wrapped up in a piece of cloth she had brought with her and had just closed her eyes when she heard a splash and some murmuring down the inlet. Oh no! Her eyes flew open and she looked toward the source of the noise. Not another person! Hopefully not an earthling either; though it was hard to tell what would be worse at this point. She was completely nude for Aisha's sake!

Her eyes landed on the source of the noise and she groaned. It was an Alkidike. Why couldn't it have just been a noisy spitorog? She lowered her head further into the water, sinking in to her eye balls and scooted herself further back from the person. Any further back and she would have to start going into the main river chanel. Swell.

She had to rethink her plan of action. Maybe she could reach for her clothes and dress before she was noticed... She stretched her arm out and reached her fingertips for her clothes, but it was no good. She couldn't keep completely covered and still reach for her clothes. Darn. She tried to shimmy her way up the ledge, trying to quietly get her clothing, but before she could even manage -- splash! Niabi had slipped on a smooth rock in the water and was back into the depths of the inlet, completely covered in water and creating a pretty loud ruckus. She came up from the water sputtering and coughing. The other Alkidike was sure to see her now, she could already feel her cheeks getting hotter.

Kaalnia had wiggled her way into the water like some sort of turtle and was just starting to float around, barely moving- thats how bad it was. Nice water. Cool water. Make the heat go away. Thats it. Nobody was around to see her as anything other than the sexy and suave beast she was. Right now, her hotness wouldn't stand out anyway. She needed to play it cool. Cooooool. Fuuuuuck it was so hot.

She looked up at the splash and sputter. Normally, this would have been a lucky day for her- alone with a lovely naked Alkidike whose clothes she could playfully swipe. But Fuuuuuuck it was hot. It was just too hot to be hot.
Still, it meant that someone could see her, and that made her self conscious enough to flail her way into an upright position in the water. She blinked at Niabi.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

Niabi couldn't help but to feel even more embarrassed as the seconds ticked by. Her sputtering wasn't in any way graceful, cute, proper; it was more along the lines of a flailing mess. She was already sitting up again, back to her chin in water, hoping for some sort of cover, and coughed once more, clearing the remaining water from her lungs. Bleck, the water here wasn't exactly tasty. She had dredged up a cloud of muck from the bottom with her flailing.

Her cheeks felt even hotter as the Alkidike addressed her. "I-I'm o-okay." She stuttered out in a voice meeker than a nondwa. Today was not going well for her.

She couldn't decide what to even do now. Did she stay naked and play it off as no big deal, or did she leave the water, where the other girl was sure to see her and maybe even laugh? Should she ask her to turn around? She decided that if she could just play it off, maybe she wouldn't seem like such a failure. She crossed her arms and tried to relax in the water. "H-hot day t-today..."

Small talk was definitely not Niabi's thing.

Kaalnia was a little worried when the other Alkidike started coughing. She managed to push herself further upright and wake up a bit. That would be uncool to lounge around if a sister was actually in trouble.
She started to move closer, "Are ya sure about that?" she asked, concerned. But they seemed to be okay. Meek, too. Maybe they were awed by her awesomeness. Or it was just hot today. Or both Kaalnia decided, relaxing a bit. It was a good thing she didn't have to rescue the other alkidike from something because it really was too hot to move. Not that she wouldn't but still. Ugh.

"Yup. Hot." she agreed, letting herself sink back into the water. "Water's nice"
Normally Kaalnia loved to talk, but right now, the water was, indeed, really really nice.

Niabi nodded briefly at Kaalnia's reply. The water was nice compared to the air around them. She would no doubt linger longer than she should and then feel disappointed when she finally had to leave. Maybe she would just stay all day, only leaving to grab some food.

She squeezed her arms around herself, bringing her attention back to the fact that she was naked and with someone she just sputtered like an idiot in front of. Play it cool, she reminded herself. She needed to seem like she wasn't a complete failure. "Mhm. W-water is nice." She coughed once more, clearing the water that was left from her lungs and hopefully the taste from her mouth. "...Mmm... so... erm... hi? I'm Niabi." She brought her legs up to her chest, curled into a ball in the water. Her hair was soaked by now and would take forever to dry off in this monstrously humid heat. She pinched a piece and tried to squeeze the water out.

Kaalnia leaned against the riverbank. Since the other one seemed to be okay, she didnt see any reason to move closer. Mainly because it was too much effort.
It was not, however, any effort to sink a bit. She knew she shouldn't get her hair wet but her scalp felt worse of all. Ugggh.
She dunked herself in.
"Oh yeah. Nice and cool... I'm Kaalnia." she said, briefly remembering that introductions were in order. She frowned lazily at her now soaking hair.
"Oh maaaaaan, I needed that but my hair is going to be a pain to dry." she remarked, waving a sopping piece limply, "But worth it."

Niabi smiled slightly to Kaalnia. "I-I was just th-thinking the same thing." She squeezes the piece she held in her fingers again and watched the water practically pour out.

Her eyes darted back and forth. The longer she sat here, the more uncomfortable she was that she was nude. She coughed a little, clearing her throat and preparing herself for the embarrassing thing she would have to ask next. "Ummm... d-do you mind... t-turning around?" She squeezed her arms across her knees, pulling herself into a tighter ball. "I... d-didn't think that I would see anyone... and um..."

She couldn't bring herself to say the rest. She looked down at herself before looking back up at Kaalnia, hoping she would get the hint.

"Huh?"
Kaalnia looked at Niabi, not quite understanding. Turn around...? Why?
Taking hints had never been one of Kaalnia's stronger points, and it was especially hard in this insane heat. Fortunately, though, the heat did have a benefit- for Niabi anyway: It dulled Kaalnia's normally energetic behavior and made her less likely to notice the whole nudity thing.
"Ugh, this hair!" she said, squeezing at it again, "Be right back, okay?" she said, climbing out of the pool for a moment and drippingly scampering over to where she had entered, her things lying forgotten. She rubbed at her head with a mercifully dry cloth before wrapping her hair up.
Mother Aisha... she exclaimed mentally, I look either ridiculous or awesome She wasn't sure which.
The whole process had taken a little bit and, purely incidentally, she was looking away the whole time.
Finally, after some shoving and shaping of the now slightly less damp hair against itself and the cloth, she turned back towards Niabi with a somewhat weaker-than-usual grin.
"Well, what do you think?" she called out.

Niabi gave a small half-smile to Kaalnia as the girl complained about her hair and left the water before sighing in relief. Kaalnia was turned away, so Niabi could possibly have enough time to get her clothes back on and get back in the water like it was no big deal. Kaalnia must have been pretty air-headed to have not gotten the clues Niabi was trying to give her and she had to wonder what Kaalnia could possibly be thinking Niabi was trying to imply otherwise.

She quickly climbed out of the pool as quietly as she could so the splashing wouldn't alert Kaalnia to something being wrong, and grabbed her clothes before throwing them on herself and slipping back into the water. She winced as her clothes quickly became submersed and soaked in all of the wet. It was something Niabi was hoping to avoid when she had first come to her special spot. She grimaced slightly at the thought of her day off being spoiled, but quickly regained face. It was something that couldn't possibly be helped and it definitely wasn't Kaalnia's fault. Niabi didn't own this spot any more than anyone else did.

Kaalnia turned back around with a ridiculous looking wrap on her head. Perhaps if she had had a mirror, or used the water to look at herself, she could have made something pretty decent out of it, but Niabi smiled to her anyways. It was keeping Kaalnia happy enough, so why should Niabi spoil the fun? "I-it looks g-good." She held her smile, but couldn't control it anymore and burst into a short laugh. "M-maybe you should look into the water?" Niabi suggested.

Air headed was a perfect description for anything Kaalnia did. Its just that the air in her head was more like fog right now. Or sludge.

Kaalnia blinked at the other alkidike. There was something different about her, but what was it? Oh hell, she couldn't figure it out right now.

"It loks good, huh?" she tilted her head quizzically, "What about the water...?" she took a look at her own rippled reflection and winced. She'd made a mess of her hair, and it would be a real pain to untangle. Did she mention how much she hated days like this? She was sure she had.

She slumped briefly, then laughed. "Hey maybe this will catch on. New style- hair completely felted into one big wrapped mass. You never know."
Oh who was she kidding. "You wouldn't happen to be any good with hair?" she asked, glancing askance at her reflection.

Niabi felt much better with her clothing back on. Even though she was sure the other Alkidike - and most people for that matter - probably found her strange, she could at least now concentrate on what the other girl was saying instead of focusing on covering herself in the murky water. She tugged on her bottom to situate it right before answering Kaalnia. "W-well... I um... wouldn't count on it?" She laughed a little, joking with the girl.

She lifted herself out of the water and wrung out her clothes a little. "I... think I can help you. My m-mother knows more about hair than I do..." She moved to sit on a nearby rock, gently patting the space in front of her. "If... if you want to sit here..." Niabi thought that she could help fix Kaalnia's hair. At least untangle it. She did do some of the little girls' hair around her house. Especially when the younglings decided they wanted to go swimming.

Strange was probably better than obnoxious, which was likely what most sisters thought of Kaalnia. Fortunately, today, it was too much effort to be a pain in the a**. Plus, she was pretty embarrassed. Her hair really looked awful, and it was starting to pull. She supported it a bit to keep it from pulling as she made her way over and sat down.
"That'd be great, thanks." she said, smiling sheepishly.

Niabi smiled to Kaalnia as she took her seat in front of Niabi. She had to first assess what the damage was. "I'm going to t-take out the wrap, so you might want to k-keep holding it up for a little while still." She removed the wrap with delicate fingers and probed at the hair in front of her.

It was definitely a tangled mess, but when you're used to dealing with little girls' hair Kaalnia would almost be considered easy. Easy-ish. Niabi was still nervous enough that her fingers continued to shake until she started to work. She started with the bottom, moving her fingers through and weaving in and out of the dreads until they started to come loose from each other and hang down as they should. Her fingers were light and she tried not to pull too hard. She would hate to hurt Kaalnia.

"Is that any better?" Niabi spoke quietly, still concentrating on the hair, but she was almost halfway done at this point.
