Prompt
Tendaji is filled with a wide array of wildlife, some friendly and some a bit dangerous. It's rare that an inhabitant of the world will spend a day without encountering a wild creature in passing, be it from hunting, traveling, or even taking care of a pet. The creatures of this world only seem to add to the colorful experiences that Earthlings, Aishans, and Kahikinans have each and every day.
[ For this prompt, we want you to pick one (or more) fauna in Tendaji and have your character encounter them in some way. Maybe it's catching a new pet, or animal watching, or maybe it's a hunting trip. Take some time to explore the flora and fauna thread and create a story around your character's experience with the creature(s). ]

Amarone was traveling through the forests of Jauhar, heading south and toward the border with Oba. She was on her way toward Matori, determined to catch a ship east to Kahikina. After she landed in Sauti she heard that ships were heading out from Belrea, but found little concern with the mix-up. After all, everything was an adventure for the spunky Wind girl, and she didn't mind exploring and finding inspiration in the world around her.
As she traveled through Jauhar, she saw a path into the woods. Excited to check out the famous trees that were used for a seemingly endless supply of wood, Amarone had little awareness of the danger she was walking into. She did a good job of sticking to the footpath, but nearby webs were waiting for a traveler who might trip and fall, dangerous creatures well known to be avoided waiting for her to step into their trap.

Niabi walked through the tall trees of the Jauhar forests. She had spent so much time in Chibale she had almost forgotten what it had felt like to be so far from Aisha's seemingly endless roots. She had been gone for over six years now, keeping to only herself and her fellow Sisters. The retreat had been long needed and she felt a little more like herself after gathering her wits.
She was still familiar enough with Jauhar, and more than familiar with the giant menzuri that lurked there, that she could see the looming silvery webs blending into the cast shadows and dim lighting of the forest floors and how to avoid them, but she could also see a younger wind girl who looked oblivious to the web she was about to stumble across.
Niabi felt a moment of hesitation, not quite sure if she should intervene before it was necessary, but her conscience got the better of her. She couldn't let this girl walk into a trap, regardless of whether she was an earthling or not. "Stop! Don't take another step." She called out, working closer to where the girl was on her path.

Amarone stilled at the shout, her muscles tensing as her aqua eyes darted around. She didn't dare breathe, wondering if she walked into one of the dens of a bandit or even the Alkidike sisters who guarded this land. After a moment, she caught the sounds of Niabi moving through the brush, and decided that turning wasn't quite a step.
So she spun in place, a little breathless and eyes wide as she looked at the tall woman before her.
"Am I about to step into quicksand? Or maybe into some sort of hunting trap...oh that would be interesting, I've always wanted to study the tools of the Alkidike sisters...I hear while they aren't the most scientific, they are the most effective in the jungle..." She was rambling, her face an expression of excitement as she moved a little in palce.

Niabi quickly closed the gap between the two of them as the earthling girl continued to ramble on about whatever it was that seemed to pop into her head. ”You could call it a hunting trap I suppose.” the older alkidike woman responded with a tilt of her head. It wouldn’t be far from the truth. ”Menzuri webs.” She pointed toward the glistening web directly in their path.
”I don’t suppose you’re looking to give yourself up to a painful death today?” She quipped. She didn’t usually have this kind of an attitude with her Sisters and it surprised her a little that she was using this tone with an earthling, but it was an instant reaction for her. She supposed her feelings toward outsiders were deeper rooted than she thought.

"Menzuri...menzuri..." Amarone echoed like a parrot, before trailing off as if in thought, "OH, an arachnid?" Amarone wasn't the most versed in the animal kingdom, but webs did make the most sense to be a spider-like creature.
At the question, the blonde shook her head with a wide eyed giggle, "Oh no, I have too much I need to do before I can let myself sleep."
Rubbing her hands together, she looked at the web before turning back to the Alkidike, "Do you sisters use the web for anything...maybe a trap...or to hold things in place? You sometimes live in trees, yes? Maybe it's a tool to cement your floors together...it seems quite sticky..."

The word ‘arachnid’ wasn’t one that was familiar with Niabi. ”I’m not sure what an arachnid is, but a menzuri is large and venomous. If you’re caught in a web there’s next to no saving you after that.” She elaborated. ”Their fangs will make quick work of an earthling.”
The wind earthling was strange to say the least. She laughed at the idea of death, and Niabi didn’t quite know what to make of it. It had her off guard enough that she dropped most of the attitude she had left toward the girl. ”Noo...” she trailed off. This girl must be very new to Jauhar if she thought the menzuri web was useful for anything other than a warning sign. ”No, they are too sticky to gather and the menzuri are too quick to the vibrations. I’ve never seen anyone try to collect web, but it’s common knowledge that it would be foolish to try.” She had her hands on her hips and her brows furrowed. What a strange person to be asking about the webs, with no hint of fear or hesitation in her voice.

Amarone let out a hum, moving to fiddle with her goggles for a moment in consideration, "Surely such a substance would have some novel use...in the right environment one might be able to collect and study it to determine a solution..."
She looked over at the web again, a long moment of silence as if considering if she herself was the right person in the right environment, before tuning back toward the Alkidike and smiling brightly.
"Another day, perhaps. I do thank you for stepping in and informing me of such a fascinating defense mechanism. The name's Amarone, inventor extraordinaire. You may not know me now, but you will eventually!"
With that, she held out her hand to shake.

Niabi had the feeling that the girl had almost forgotten Niabi was even there, talking to herself and seeming to try to figure out a solution to a problem Niabi was sure had no fix. Amarone held out her hand for a shake and Niabi tentatively took it. ”Niabi.” She answered the girl.
”Not to be rude, but what is... someone like you... doing walking alone in the forests of Jauhar?” She asked, wagging her hand as she stumbled on ‘someone like you’. She meant a wind earthling, but it could have also meant someone with her demeanor, or someone of her profession she supposed. All three fit.
”Are you lost?”

"Niiabi" She echoed slowly, sounding out the words before smiling brightly at the Alkidike before her as she let go of her hand, "Oh, you're not rude at all! It's a bit hard to hurt my feelings..."
Her smile was a bit of a grin at this point as she considered the question and how she got there.
"Well, you see...I'm actually just passing through. I'm on my way to the docks in Matori so I can go to the new Island...Kahikina. I'd really like to see if I can provide them anything to help them better travel to Tendaji, you know? But then I saw this path, and remembered the trees here and how they seem to always have wood and never run out, and I just HAD to see it for myself first hand!"
Scratching her head a moment, she moved to fiddle with her wrench on her belt, "I don't think I'm lost...it's hard to be lost when you don't really have a destination?"
Blinking her aqua eyes up at the taller girl, she finished with a smile and a shrug, "I just want to add value to the world, one invention at a time."

Niabi thought on the girl’s words. It was a noble idea, trying to make the world better, in whatever way that one could manage it. It resonated with Niabi, and her curiosity in the wind earthling grew the longer she spoke with the girl.
”Kahikina is a long way to go alone. You’re not traveling with anyone?” She asked Amarone. If this earthling was as spaced out as she seemed to be all the time Niabi had no doubts that she would get into more trouble by herself on the way to Matori. And she didn’t even know what kind of dangers or trouble the new continent brought.
There was a new tree in Kahikina. Something she had heard about through the other Sisters on Chibale. Niabi’s thoughts shifted to the cousins that had brought about the new tree. It was the elaria, but there was talk that these cousins didn’t want the segregated ways of the extremists. Niabi wasn’t one to just believe all of the gossip she heard, but it was curious to her. She had been hidden away on Chibale for so long, maybe it was time to travel again.

Amarone smiled a little bit at the Alkidike, pleased with the fact that she seemed to get along so well with the other. In fact, it was refreshing to meet someone so different, yet patient and interested in the same things as she. At least interest must be what it meant when the other wasn't running away. Maybe Niabi was a bit of a scholar in her own way.
"Oh, I'm traveling with a caravan, but they are in such a rush and not keen to catch the sights. I usually forge my own path until we make camp..."
Amarone paused a moment, before shaking her head, "I'm always warned about dangers, but so far I've been able to keep out of trouble..."
Taking a deep breath, Amarone's aqua eyes examined Niabi again, "Have you been to Kahikina yet?"

So she was with a group. That was a bit reassuring at least. Niabi wasn’t quite sure why she was suddenly so invested in this earthling’s safety, but she did feel relief in hearing that much. Though it sounded like she wasn’t with the group all that often.
”I have not. I have been on… a respite… until recently.” She told the younger woman. It wasn’t quite the truth but wasn’t quite a lie either. She had been on Chibale for years now, though it was more in hiding than for relaxation.
”I don’t feel quite well leaving you alone to wander into menzuri webs at your leisure. I believe you may need a guide, at least through Jauhar.” She started saying. It would be better if she was traveling with someone, and Niabi could guarantee her safety through familiar territory.

A bright smile crossed Amarone's features as she looked up at the taller woman, nodding eagerly at the offer with ease and trust.
"Oh yes, don't want to end up on the wrong side of a web...even if they seem curiously valuable for other tools..." Shaking her head and the thoughts away, she let out a laugh, "Well, Niabi. I don't think I could ask for a better guide. And if things go well, maybe you can continue to join me as I head to Kahikina. I did hear some curious rumors about another Aishan camp out there...but that's not my focus..."
She trailed off into some rambles of something or another, turning on her heel to head away from the webs, before looking over her shoulder back at Niabi.
"I don't know what it is, but I have a feeling that this meeting is going to have positive results!" Laughing a bit again, she waved for the girl to follow as she chirped into a long conversation about her other traveling companions.

Niabi watched in almost amazement as Amarone just launched into conversation and the ease she had to just… continue to talk. It was almost impressive. But it was settled, she would join this wind earthling through Jauhar.
Amarone offered Kahikina and Niabi lifted her eyebrows in surprise. Well, that was still to be seen, but at this point nothing was off the table.
She settled into a stride behind the wind earthling, following her lead and listening to whatever it was she wanted to talk about now. She didn’t know if the results would be positive, but they would be something remarkable at least, Niabi just had a feeling.
