LegendarySolo or RP Format Counts as 5 RP growth Points Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7It all started as rumors...strange traits that appeared after certain Earthlings and Alkdikes went on a sort of...spiritual journey. Some would disappear for days before returning with horns, or feathers down their arms, or claws in place of their hands. Others apparently would fall off a cliff only to fly their way to freedom, disappearing in the clouds and never seen again. Those were the stories that were hard to believe...but these days...more were seeing these traits first hand.
Forked tongues, fuzzy antennae, spikes across their skin.
Legendary people who were blessed by the gods themselves.
No one quite knows why individuals are blessed, or when they can expect it, or even what they might get in terms of this unique trait. But it's gotten regular enough that rumors and gossip is starting to spread around. Younglings are daydreaming of traits they might some day get - though not guaranteed. And some are fearing the implications of why they might get such a thing.
Uncertainty is a dangerous think - it can lead to excitement and anticipation, but it also can lead to unfound fears. Especially when the uncertainty is around something completely and utterly out of one's control.
[ Lately more and more Tendajians are being blessed with Legendary Traits. There still is no rhyme or reason around why one is selected, outside of them being older and experienced. In this prompt, explore how your character feels about Legendary traits. Maybe they cross paths with someone with such traits, or maybe they are listening to rumors. Or maybe they are hoping for what their future traits might be (right or wrong). Have fun exploring this concept in character solo or with friends. ]

[ Amarone 1 ]
They say that when someone is in love, they change. Maybe it's a softness about them, or they become more loving. Either way, it's obvious when a lovesick Earthling is pining after their one true someone. At least it would be, if you weren't Amarone. Maybe it was her energy, which was always there. Or maybe it was the fact that the little things she did were not so different than the big things. Or that the experiment of a new relationship was something she approached with such zealousness, such energy, that she always appeared in love in the first place. No matter what it was, the relationship didn't seem to phase the petite windling who examined it with as much fervor as she did the rest of her life.
Today, the newly minted couple was a little further inland exploring the rivers of Kahikina. Amarone knew eventually they would head through the swamps to the reclusive isle of the Elidae, but for now she wanted to learn more about how those of the river acted compared to those of the deep sea. Did they need to acclimate if they changed? Did they need to stay immersed? Did the salt waters versus the fresh change anything? And most importantly, was there an opportunity to invent something to make their lives better overall?
Well, she might have thought about that, had she not caught sight of a Kaha'iko with long Antennae similar but different than the Aishans.
"Niabi....look!" She shouted a bit too loudly, the attention focused on her as she nearly gaped at the willowy woman, "Is that...an Aishan mixed with a Kahikinan?"

[Niabi 1]
Niabi’s thoughts were interrupted by the sudden excitement from her partner. Her eyebrows lifted in doubt as she followed Amarone’s line of sight. “I… highly doubt that’s possible.” She said in a low voice, trying to continue the conversation but without drawing attention to themselves. “I feel like we would have heard about hybrids if they had happened here.” Niabi assumed word would have gotten out, there would be excitement or buzzing or something among the Sisters. She had been gone a while but not that long.
“Do you think it’s just a Kahikinan? Do they have antennae as well?” It was just the one Kahikinan with antennae, but it was strange. It didn’t look like Aishan antennae though, they were pretty noticeably different.

The fact that she caught the attention of many of the residents of the riverlands, including the Kaha'iko in question, didn't phase Amarone at all. In fact, she simply turned her attention to her partner with laser focus, ignoring the glares and gapes that she was quite used to these days.
Her brows furrowed at the thought, "Are the local Aishans here those colors..." She swore she saw an Elidae or two, but maybe she didn't think too much about it.
Turning back toward the Kaha'iko, she pursed her lips and wondered if they should just ask.
"I've only seen that one with antennae...maybe they grow in late?" She swore she heard of such things in the past...strange dreams that resulted in feathers or horns sprouting out of an Earthling. But it wasn't her research focus at the time, so she didn't care much for the thing.

[Niabi 2]
Niabi tried her best to discreetly look at the Kaha’iko again. “No… I’ve never seen one, but I’ve heard they are different colors than that. There are yellows involved.” She did her best to think about the gossip she had heard in Jauhar and Chibale and what the other Sisters were saying. It was true, there was blue in the new cousin race here on Kahikina, but they weren’t… so blue. And silver. She didn’t think she heard anything about silver. This Kahikinan was different than anything she had heard of before.
Niabi nodded her head slowly. “Yes, maybe they grow in late.” She agreed. Niabi was coming to rather enjoy these conversations with Amarone. She liked the thinking and questioning and hypothesizing that came with being the wind earthling’s guard, then friend, then… well more now. “Do you think it’s something that they all acquire as they grow older?” She asked Amarone.

The smaller earthling began to hum to herself, her eyes narrowing as she looked deeper at the Kaha'iko. At this point, the stranger definitely noticed their looking and speculating, but instead of anger they seemed to be smirking to themselves.
"If they did, I imagine we'd see them walking around everywhere with such traits...this feels different..."
Nodding, and slamming her clenched fist on her palm, she moved to adjust her goggles and raise her shoulders, "The best way to finding an answer in this case is a field study - come on, let's go ask!"

Niabi’s eyes widened at Amarone’s lack of subtly. But she could see the wind earthling’s mind was not only already made up, but she was already moving in the kahikinan’s direction. She inhaled a quick breath before following Amarone’s lead. “Alright.” She almost whispered to Amarone.
The Kahikinan already noticed them and didn’t seem like they cared about the looks, so the questions probably wouldn’t be taken offensively… maybe.

The windling did not realize her partner's discomfort, though not intentionally. It was simply her scientific mind taking control. But she didn't jump on the tall Kahikinan, instead she seemed to skid to a stop with bright eyes and a brighter smile pointing up toward the creature.
"Hello! I hope you don't mind me asking you a few questions, you see I'm new around here, first time in Kahikinan and all that. Me and my partner here have been exploring the area, and I couldn't help but notice how much you stood out. I was curious if you wouldn't mind letting us know why you might have such interesting traits. Would you happen to be part Aishan?"
It seemed like she didn't breathe once during the entire conversation, and the Kaha'iko appeared amused. They glanced at Niabi, before looking back down toward Amarone.
"I am from the riverlands, pure blood and all, little Earthling." They said with a soft chuckle, "If you are referring to my antennae, they are unique to me as well. Something that seemed to grow during the darkest night of the year. We do speak of it in legends, but it is rare for one of my kind to have such traits."
Amarone gaped and gasped like a youngling participating in storytime, her eyes wide as she turned toward Niabi with a giddy laugh.

[Niabi 4]
Niabi was comfortable taking a back seat to the conversation and letting Amarone do most of the talking. She watched the little wind earthling speed through what seemed like every question in her brain before finally stopping and the Kahikinan responding with poise and a soothing rhythm in their voice, unfazed by Amarone’s inquisitive nature.
“I’ve heard of such things happening with Aishans as well, though not exactly the same.” Niabi responded while gesturing to the Kaha’iko’s antennae. There was something, though she wasn’t sure of the timing of it all, that happened to select Aishans as well. She turned to Amarone, waiting to see if she had any more questions for the Kahikinan or if they were going to politely part ways.

Letting out a long hum at Niabi's addition to the conversation, trying to think if she had seen any such things in her travels. She had to admit that she didn't notice any earthlings sprout up antennae, unless of course they were hybrids. She shrugged a bit, "The only thing I've seen is eye and crystal color change, but that's from potions and not just...time of year."
Turning back to the stranger, she prodded on, "You said traits...do they look different depending on the Kahikinan?"
The patient Kaha'iko waited and nodded, "Indeed, some have antennae like me...and some stories are of other traits. Shimmering markings, their markings growing. We believe it's a sign from Noelani, a gift for making a great contribution to our people."

[Niabi 5]
Niabi thought back on the years before, it seemed a stretch but she did recall seeing peddlers pushing potions that would change the colors of things that shouldn’t be able to change color. It was a lifetime ago, but she remembered thinking back then that she didn’t understand the idea of it. It was unnatural and went against Aisha. Though, not that it mattered to the earthlings. They could take that up with their gods.
Niabi nodded to the Kahikinan with their explanation. “It is interesting. You said it was rare to happen, does it only happen to your kind?” She asked further. They thought it a gift from Noelani - Niabi was assuming it was a god of theirs - but they didn’t all share the same gods as far as she knew.

"I've heard others outside of our lands have such unique traits, but have never seen it myself in all my years... Was the simple response and shrug, before the stranger's attention was diverted and they said a soft farewell. It was more than enough conversation for Amarone to be pondering thoughtfully over, and she turned back to Niabi.
"Well I was hoping maybe they were a hybrid...we have Aishans and Earthlings, but it would have been nice to see an Aishan and Kahikinan..." She pouted, "We've never really talked about how Aisha is able to prouduce hybrids, growing up it was such a mystery..."

Niabi shrugged at Amarone as the Kaha’iko receded from the conversation. “They say that the new trees can’t produce any hybrids, so it’s not surprising they weren’t Aishan descended.” She answered Amarone.
She was surprised that Amarone was talking about the way that hybrids are produced. It wasn’t something that Niabi had thought about questioning, it was just a given to her. She had known hybrids for as long as she had lived. Her closest friend growing up was an alkidike leaf hybrid. “Maybe one day we can talk more about it and see if there’s anything still to learn. Though I doubt you’ll be able to study it like you normally would.” She joked to Amarone. The only way Amarone was going to get onto the island and see any part of the process herself was if she were to have a hybrid herself.
The idea of having hybrids gave Niabi pause, it was something she hadn’t gotten far enough to consider with Amarone, their relationship still felt so fresh. But she supposed it was something they would talk about sooner or later. She looked at the wind earthling and felt something inside of her shift, like possibilities had opened.

[ Amarone 7 ]
She pouted at the loss of a new discovery, but the quirk in her lips didn't linger long. She was quite content to learn something new about this culture and possibly explore it more in the future. It would be fun to see if they could find any additional legendary Earthlings or Aishans on their travels, and to learn more about how they might appear differently from one and another. If it happened at all - quite a discovery to make.
Her expression shifted to something more relaxed as she tilted her head and looked up at her companion. Stepping closer, she crossed her arms and lifted her chin in defiance, though it was playful indeed, "It sounds as if you doubt my determination, Niabi!" She said with a grin, before uncrossing her arms and tapping her cheek with a finger in thought.
"A good study requires hands-on experience." She added slowly, "And while I don't consider myself someone who would chase the idea of hybrids, I admit that it does sound fun to explore such adventures with you...maybe once our travels calm down? I've always wanted to open my own workshop some day, a nice place to settle down and tinker..."
She chittered a bit to herself about the opportunity, before adding, "Always could make sure there's room for a family." With a shrug at the comment, she leaned forward to take Niabi's hands in her own, "Whatever you'd like, I'm just happy to be with you and experience so many new things along the way!"

[Niabi 7]
Niabi listened to Amarone and felt a smile spread across her lips. ‘Hands-on experience’. It sounded as if Amarone was also interested in having a family, and even though the idea had only just now come to Niabi, it didn’t mean that they had to rush into things. They would have to finish traveling first, get back to Aisha, and ask Her for blooms. It would take a while.
‘I think we should.” She said aloud in the midst of her thinking. “Start a family I mean. We would need to go back to Aisha, but I think I would love to share that kind of a life with you.” She took the wind earthling’s hands in hers and leaned down for a kiss. “It would be quite an experience to have.” She laughed to Amarone, using her verbiage back at her. An experience, and a very large step forward for Niabi.
