Anything interesting that happened in his life seemed to stem from his close relationship with Eritha, a young female Shifter born into the same tribe. He was never outgoing or adventurous or displayed much ability to make and keep close friends, but he had her; an excitable, wacky, dedicated, loud, constantly beaming girl that dragged him on all her escapades. Whether he agreed wholeheartedly with her exploits or not, he enjoyed their time together.
Despite how Eritha left his life at a young age, Lerin adopted small, budding slivers of her personality. Once she was gone, he was astounded by how much he relied on, even needed her friendship. She attracted people like flies (both good and bad) due to her outgoing and companionable nature. In an attempt to remedy his own loneliness, Lerin gives his attention to just about everyone, speaks to everyone as if he knows them personally, and displays affection for people he's hardly attached to, even going so far as to touch/hug them (he is usually polite enough to at least seek permission first). He's painfully casual with everyone, and gives compliments and assurances out like candy, just as his companion did before him.
While he has many acquaintances and knows many names, even this openly affectionate attitude doesn't warrant him many lifetime friends. He isn't outwardly closed, or anything of that nature, but his uncertainty and hesitance and overall lack of commitment to truly care about and need someone else, as he needed Eritha, seeps into his thoughts and actions and others seem to have a way of noticing. He isn't ignored, hated, mistreated, or spoken ill of; he simply is currently incapable of formulating long-lasting, working bonds.
Despite this, he tries his best to be 'versatile' in all things. He is open to seeing others' opinions, and has never had a great desire to actively confront people he believes are wrong. What doesn't bend, breaks. But Lerin tends to 'bend' too much, and often loses sight of his own opinion with faced with a more vocal adversary. He tends to be ridiculously easy to sway in matters that may even seem important to him. While he prefers compromising and finding a solution that fits all parties, oftentimes he'd rather surrender his own position sooner than get into an even mildly heated argument. He isn't afraid of being wrong or overly concerned about consequences, but it does tend to be much easier and end on a happier note when he gives up without a fuss.
Otherwise, Lerin is creative, adaptable, and full of wonder. He's spent his life high in the canopy of the Juaharan rainforest, where the plants and sky and creatures are colored so vibrantly that his aspirations can't help but soar. So even when he is on his own, he maintains a hopeful, bright demeanor. Description: Prentice Lerin's skin tone and eye color shift with the rising moon. During the day, his skin is a dark greyish blue, nearly black, and his eyes are light grey. But at night, when the moon rises, his skin turns a pale, silvery blue, and his eyes turn a darker shade of grey. Lerin's blue crystal scales are predominately on his cheeks, but there's a smattering along his collar bones and the tops of his thighs, as well. His hair is a shade of deep midnight (nearly black) and quite long, even at this young stage! It is naturally white, but Lerin's clan has a tradition of dying their hair dark to be more in touch with the night sky. His hair drops roughly to his bum. It's long, thick, and straight and has a tendency to pool down his front, rather than down his back. He doesn't have any bangs, so to keep it manageable, he has one braid on each side that both meet in the back of his head. The tail at the end of his braids is still quite long. He is rather tall for his age, and surprisingly curvaceous for his gender. Clothing is up to artist interpretation, but he has a tendency to go shirtless (or wears a very skimpy shirt), no shoes, and maybe a sarong over a pair of pants that cinch at his calves. He also wears an assortment of necklaces, bracelets, anklets, and earrings. Colors should definitely include a deep rainforest-y green, creams, browns, and faint orange accents. He wears a large (roughly fist-sized, if not a bit bigger), dried orange flower in his hair. A gift from his closest childhood friend that moved away. Now he has no one. Beast Charmer Lerin is progressing into his late-teens, and as such, is developing a little more toning, particularly around his biceps and thighs. He's started wearing his hair up to keep it more manageable in the face of his animal companions. Other things, like his fingers are less fortunate. His kinfa companion, Tandoori, is growing alongside him. She nips (playfully, of course) at whatever she can reach at to get his attention, leaving Lerin littered in small cuts that he usually wraps in bandages to keep from getting infected. Coloration-wise, he remains the same as Prentice. Dark hair, skin that shifts from dark blue-grey during the day to pale silver at night, changing eyes, and blue crystals. While his clothing is adapted to be more travel-ready, he still wears the orange flower in his hair, as always. Beast Tamer TBD Speech Color: #5171c2 Theme Song: Gotta Be Somebody - Nickelback

H I S T O R Y
Lerin lives in a small, nameless Shifter settlement deep in Jauhar's jungles with his mother and father. His parents... are not the best suited for each other. They feel obligated to stay together (separating would be breaking the vows they made to their gods), but they have a tendency to break into arguments very quickly. Quite frequently these arguments escalate into screaming bouts of rage. Needless to say, Lerin prefers to avoid this, so he doesn't have a close relationship with either of his parents.
Instead, he found solace in his closest friend, a girl about his age named Eritha. Eritha was rambunctious, fun, creative, and adventurous, and she pulled Lerin into all her activities. The two were fast friends. His more giving personality balanced hers nicely. But, as they were preparing to begin their training, Eritha's parents thought it would be best if she was trained in a larger settlement, with more full-blooded shifters to oversee their daughter's progress. The family moved away. But not before Eritha, with her bold, cheery attitude gave Lerin a bright orange flower and told him to remember her, because when she returned, she'd be strong enough to take them on even grander adventures.
Lerin was lost without her. He takes her flower with him everywhere, and whenever he feels particularly alone or nervous, he rubs its petals. Whatever adventurous attitude she implanted in him has decided to manifest in his desires to capture and tame wild animals. If he trains them well enough, they won't leave him, after all. While he gets along swimmingly and openly with everyone else of his tribe, he never tries to get as close to them as he was to Eritha.
After he stumbled upon an injured baby kinfa in the woods, Lerin vows to become stronger, so that he may tame and fight alongside the creatures of the world. His mission becomes a bit harder with the war between the Obans waging. His mother managed to convince him that it would be best if they surrendered together... Fortunately, their lands are reclaimed by the Resistance, and Lerin is allowed to continue with his daily, mundane life.
For a time, that was acceptable, but after being repeatedly exposed to Earthling cruelty toward animals, Lerin decides to set off for further study. His travels may take him away from home, but it wasn't as if he was doing much good for anyone there, anyway.
And it seems his adventures won't be solo, anyway. The young Oban girl, Ziari joins him (or he joins her, more accurately), and the two set off to brave the world.

P L O T S
o1. Meeting his eventual lover, Ziari
-- After spending a couple weeks together in no one's company but their own, Lerin and Zi sit in the treetop canopies of Neued and discuss the journey from here. Lerin agrees that he'd like to be a part of Ziari's traveling experience, instead of returning home, and the two share their first kiss with kinfa looking on. -- Ziari wishes to become better at the art of beast taming and seeks out a tutor. Lerin is less interested in the battle aspect of the endeavor, but he is always open to learning the interesting facts his girlfriend brings home. -- They will eventually travel from Neued, through Tale, and toward Sauti. If the time is right, they may even be traveling with two little extra bundles. <3
o2. Familiar taming
-- As he travels, Lerin intends to befriend a creature from every environment in order to further hone his skills and make himself more useful. Unfortunately, he isn't adept at fighting and would prefer to go about it peacefully... -- Makui, the father of the radaku litter that Lerin has been observing, seems to have followed him from his village to Neued. The radaku is elusive in terms of companionship, and seems to have no desire to be touched, but he is ever vigilent and watchful of Lerin and the Shifter's soon-to-exist hybrid pups. -- Laurus, the creepy crawlie Perzi that Lerin encountered during his meeting with Kian, might be willing to be bribed into joining him (and ceasing his antics with the natives) for bribes of food and attention.
o3. Baby bonding
-- RPs with his woman and their children will be oncoming once babies have been decided upon.

Code: ☒=Hates, ¤=Dislikes, ❤=Acquaintance, ❤=Friend, ❤=Close Friend, ❤=Mate, ❤=Family
Alkidike ❤ Dyakida: A blind Alkidike artisan, played by DraconicFeline. 'I admit that I had my reservations about being approached... Er, approaching an Alkidike. I know they harbor no sympathies for my people, but I expect they never will if we don't ever communicate with one another. I... must be a little shallow. I felt safer approaching Dyakida, since she's... blind. I'm sure her sisters find she is a great warrior, but I could hardly see it in her at all... We've met a few times and are not on expressly unfavorable terms' ❤ Lanwezi: A young Alkidike, played by Echo Danger. 'meeting'
Earthling: Shifter ❤ Chalcedony: An older male Shifter, played by Orpheus Solon. 'I didn't get a chance to speak with him, as we were sort of in a rush to escape the Oban camp. This man happened to be one of the 'rescuers.' He was certainly... large. And very capable of picking people straight off the ground, apparently. I don't think I could ever be so bold as he was, though I'm not sure if I would ever want to be. There was a Fire woman that he 'took' with us... It felt very... hostage-like to me. I could never be a part of that.' ❤ Rayolun: An adult male Shifter, played by robot kitten. 'I spoke with him briefly, but... I don't think we'd get along splendidly with much more interaction. He only taunted and questioned that poor man while we were in the Oban camp, and we were in such a poor spot that something a little more comforting might have been more fruitful. I don't have much patience for people like him, I think. He seemed upbeat enough, but very negative concerning our situation... Maybe it is just the poor timing of our meeting.' ❤ Senja: An adult female Shifter that Lerin met while she was pregnant, played by robot kitten. 'We spoke only briefly, but she seems alright. Escape was important to her so that she could go home and raise and care for her family. Her reasons are understandable. I will not begrudge her that. Once the battle was over, we met again. She seemed to be in better spirits, and we got along rather well. I think she wanted to help me discover what I should do with myself, but... Well, there isn't much to that. I am no one of importance to anyone, and I have nothing that drives me.'
Earthling: Leaf ❤ Ujana: A curvaceous Leaf girl, played by Painted Moose. '(N/A - Met during NRP battle - Outcome: ???)'
Earthling: Wind ❤ Nuawahn: An adult Wind male, played by DraconicFeline. 'Poor guy was really torn up during the battle... I dunno what they did or said to him to make him act so... strangely, but it was the first thing I saw that gave me weariness of the Obans. Not that any of us were treated like royalty, but this boy was exceptionally destroyed. He wasn't very keen on telling anyone how to help him, so I'm afraid I likely didn't improve matters... But neither did anyone else, trying to get him into more trouble. Hopefully he's alright after all this...'
Earthling: Ice ❤ Ethelfleade: A young Ice female, played by Nilah44. 'I find it hard to believe that such a young woman can find so much passion to fight for a place that she doesn't have anyone of importance in... Her words were... inspiring, even if I can't fully grasp them, myself. For an Ice Earthling, she had so much fire and spirit... We didn't speak at length, as she had other matters to attend to, and I wasn't interested in getting into trouble for talking to her, but perhaps one day I can get to know more about her...' ❤ Liira: A cynical Ice lass, played by kaname423. '(N/A - Met during NRP battle - Outcome: Win)'
Earthling: Fire ❤ Shalvesta: A young Fire female, played by Scarlett Arbuckle. 'We didn't speak. She was merely taken as a captive when we made our escape. I feel bad for her, but I wasn't going to be the one to speak out against taking her... In the end, she made it out alright, anyway, though I'm not entirely sure what her goal during this 'rescue mission' was. She might have been... betraying her people? I couldn't tell, but I'm not so sure if the Obans were fine with that or not, so... I can only hope she's still safe.' ❤ Ziari: Lerin's new traveling companion, played by Tangled Puppet. 'If I was anything like my family, I wouldn't have had the chance to know and love this woman. Ziari and I crossed paths in my village, which turned out to be rather unpleasant for her, I imagine, as the Shifters there don't believe in friendly relations with those of other species. But her kindness and boldness spoke to me and gave me the courage to leave my home and travel with her. I'd been waiting for someone to come out of the past, but... perhaps my future lies with a new companion, rather than an old one.'
Earthling: Water Name: description, played by controller. 'feels'
Earthling: Yaeli Name: description, played by controller. 'feels'
Elaria Name: description, played by controller. 'feels'
Earthling: Lightning Name: description, played by controller. 'feels'
Earthling: Geian Name: description, played by controller. 'feels'
Hybrids ❤ Ikuri: A young Shifter/Ice hybrid, played by a pet dino (Ikuri has since been retired and changed owners). 'We spoke only for a minute before she departed. She seemed very nice and was quite beautiful, despite her hybrid heritage. I could hardly even tell, myself, beside that her ears were a bit long. She even had the patience to endure Doori's antics. It would've been nice to hold up a conversation with such a lovely woman for a little longer... But perhaps it is just me that sends people away so quickly. I must not be very interesting.' ❤ Kian: An older Shifter/Ice hybrid, played by Sabra Knight. 'Our conversation didn't last long, and that's probably for the best, since this man (whose name I never actually learned) seemed to be growing more and more impatient with me by the second. He was after a little perzi, which don't belong in Jauhar, of course. But it was so small, and doing so little that I found myself arguing against him bothering it. I'm not sure what he would've done if he'd caught it, but I'm sure it's better off free.'
Familiars ❤ Makui: A wild teal radaku that Lerin saved from Oban poachers. 'I probably ought to have left him alone, after our initial encounter. It was obvious Makui was feral and very likely to remain that way. Despite my helping him, he has no fondness for earthlings. But I followed him, anyway. He has a family. A small pack of pups, and for weeks upon weeks I watched and observed them. Makui watched me too, but he was always careful not to let me get too close. I don't think he considers me a friend so much as he considers me a curiosity. Which is fair, since I feel about the same toward him.' ❤ Peyla: A lovely shimmering sprite owned by Dyakida, played by DraconicFeline. 'Peyla is an adorable sprite with a mind and heart of her own. Sprites seem... different than other familiars somehow. I could really tell her emotions and her thoughts. She even had an appreciation for the finer things, like my hairpin flower... Somehow, seeing her just gave me all the more reason to trust her Alkidike companion. I think Peyla likes me at least a little, too. She recognizes me when we see each other.' ❤ Tandoori: An orange and brown baby kinfa that Lerin found in the woods. 'This poor creature was abandoned by her previous owner after her wing tore apart pretty gruesomely. I don't know who left her behind, but I do know that they were utterly stupid. There was no way to know at first, if I would have the skills to save her, but... We managed. Tandoori is wonderfully sweet, very well-trained, loyal, and adorable to boot. I doubt she'll ever fly again, and I wouldn't toss her into any fights, but she is a great companion, and has stayed by my side unflinchingly since then.'
My NPCs ❤ Caiaphus: Lerin's father. Short Description: Tall and thin, Caiaphus isn't particularly threatening to behold. How he and his wife got together in the first place isn't a well-known story, but they are together now, and per the rules of their tribe, they will stay that way, regardless of if the couple is happy or not. Caiaphus has taken on a more nocturnal schedule to avoid his wife. Like Lerin, he's the more acquiescent of the pair, and prefers to avoid arguing, if he can help it. He has crystals along his collarbones and the short, dyed black hair of his tribe. 'I don't talk to my dad too much. He's kind of an annoying guy, what with the way he worries over everything under the sun. I know he means well, for both me and my mum (as well as he can mean for her, given the circumstances), but because of their bickering, I'm not especially inclined to communicate with either of them. We're all on different sleep cycles, so that helps. But if I'm being honest, I still much prefer my father to my mother. He tries his hardest with the life he's been given.' ❤ Eritha: A Shifter girl originally a member of Lerin's tribe. Short Description: Eritha is a young girl with a chipper grin and wide eyes of innocence. She has wavy black hair and a short, curvy stature. Though she was born in Lerin's village and raised there for several years (long enough for him to love and cherish her as his best friend), she moved away when they were still young and has never looked back, despite the promise she made to Lerin that she would return for him so that they could continue to go on adventures together. 'We were very close in our youth. At least, I was close to her- closer than with anyone else. She was the bravest and boldest girl I'd ever known, and I was delighted to be a part of her excitement. When she moved, I didn't make 'real' friends, anymore, just acquaintances. I didn't want to get that close to anyone again. I met Eritha again in Neued. But, as it turns out... she had forgotten me. It stung, of course, but I suppose that's what happens once you've been separated for so long. I shouldn't have been so hung up on her, when I could be doing my best to enjoy what I have now.' ❤ Fyila: Lerin's mother. Short Description: Fyila is a bold, rash woman. Though she was born and raised in her village and understands the rules the tribe has adopted concerning religion, outsiders, and commitment, she has chosen to forsake those teachings (in secret, of course) and has taken a lover that is not her own husband. Lerin is the only one who knows of this, and she treats him like a traitor for it, even if he hasn't yet done anything to offend her. Her more argumentative nature is at odds with both her son and husband, allowing her to walk all over them. 'My mother and I... did not get along especially well, even before I discovered her secret. She was always a bit too impatient with me, and she rarely takes anyone else's feelings into consideration. I know she is unhappy with the state of her life, and she seems to consider that mine and my father's fault. It is understandable, even if it is unpleasant. Because I don't wish to hurt her or upset her further, I don't have any intention of telling anyone that she is sleeping with someone else. Although I... I really do think my father should be made aware of it...' ❤ Sepherene: A Shifter girl that is a member of Lerin's tribe. Short Description: Sepherene is a slim woman that displays very little body curvature. She has shoulder-length black hair with a narrow face. Though she is only a few months older than Lerin, her warrior skills have progressed much more quickly than his, and she's frequently taken on hunts as a result. She is not often interested in letting Lerin join her parties, and she is a generally pretty rude in telling him as much. 'Mmm, she's easy to be around, since we're so close in age and our schedules aren't so different, but it's obvious that she doesn't want me butting in between her and her close friends. That's fine. I really only want to join her hunts so that I may study the animals she battles... I'm a little jealous that she was able to dive into her training whole-heartedly, but at the same time, it's good that some of us can do that at all.' ❤ Tansa: A merchant of Lerin's village. Short Description: Tansa is an old, gruff woman that has spent her whole life upholding the teachings and beliefs of her tribe (like many born in the village). She is jaded and mistrusting of outsiders and has a way of treating them poorly because of it. When the Fire female, Ziari was introduced to her and in need of medicine, Tansa held no compassion for the lonely girl. Rather than help her with the good she needed, she hiked the price of the medicine up unreasonably high and didn't seem too distraught about it. 'Have I admitted yet to not being very close to anyone in my village? Particularly those of a heightened age, like Tansa. So many of them have closed minds and a low tolerance for change and progress. I don't mind change, and sometimes it is necessary, since if we keep this attitude up, we'll have more enemies than friends... I'd say we have no friends at all right now, as no one from my village ever wants to expand their horizons that far...'
