"I'm aware that you think it's a bad idea," Lerin scoffed in Tandoori's direction as the young kinfa grumbled, huffed, ruffled her feathers and fanned her wings. She shifted from foot to foot, shaking her head and narrowing her eyes and shooting him annoyed glares. "But if I haven't gotten hurt yet, it seems unlikely that it'll happen this-" She cut him off with a squawk, hopping from her perch to alight on his shoulder, capturing the tip of his nose in her beak for a brief and only mildly stinging worried n**. With a squeak of shock, Lerin tossed his head, and the bird fluttered back to the ground. Tandoori huffed, scratched her claws against the wood flooring of the hut, and trotted off to conceal herself beneath a low overhang.

The Shifter rubbed at his nose, curiously inspecting his hand for traces of blood. "Well, don't come then," he grumbled out to her, still miffed at the treatment, despite being relatively unscathed. He'd made the mistake of speaking to her about his interest in the radaku family they'd seen. Tandoori was young, but Lerin expected she was intelligent beyond her years, and shared most of his endeavors with her, if only to have someone to talk to.

However, she seemed particularly disinterested in the radaku. Her Earthling was not violent or aggressive or even well-suited to battle. He was just a boy who expected the best out of wild and untamed creatures. He was clearly stupid. As excellent predators and protective parents, those radaku would have no qualms about hurting him. Couldn't he see that? He'd managed to flee unharmed last time, but... His luck wouldn't hold forever.

Tandoori understood this.

Lerin did not.

If Makui was really interested in hurting him, than he surely would have already. But he hadn't. Seeing him again must be the universe's way of telling him that they were destined to... Well, to at least have more interaction, if nothing else. So, he made his way out, notebook in hand, and forgoing his kinfa's wishes. Tandoori stubbornly stayed behind, leaving Lerin feeling strangely barren as he leaped his way down between the tree limbs. The bird was a constantly reassuring presence on his shoulder. Without her, he felt weirdly awkward. He expected that was probably the kinfa's point; to make him uncomfortable enough that he'd return without incident.

But not today. Maybe on some less-exciting adventure, but baby radaku needed his attention, clearly. He arrived near the creatures' den, and was ridiculously excited and as giddy as a schoolgirl to see the radaku mother sitting peacefully among the tree roots. Her head was high and alert, tail curled neatly around her forelimbs as she watched over her two young. The pups were lively today, scampering on unsteady feet across the ground while swiping claws and barreling into each other. Their cries of excitement were high and squeaky, echoing through the trees like chimes.

They'd grown quickly, beautifully in the waning days; from teeny, mewling, pitiful bundles to adventurous, yapping scamps. They'd both adopted some of their mother's silvery markings, while maintaining the aqua undercoat of their father. Beautiful and interesting. How he'd like to get a closer look. Especially in some form of lighting. They didn't seem to mind the dark, but Lerin sure would enjoy a chance to see those silver markings shine. Of course, he would happily settle for being able to edge just a few paces nearer...

Silently, he reached up, collecting one of the tree's small fruits with a pluck that rattled the leaves no more than the wind would have. With a quick scan of the area, he hefted the heavy orb and tossed it into the brambles located behind the tree the mother was perched on. Hearing the heavy 'thump!' and rustle of greenery, the silver radaku snarled, lips pulling back to reveal pointed teeth as she rose. She tossed her head and sauntered off in search of the disturbance, unwilling to forgive anything that dared linger so close to her young.

Her pawsteps were light, barely alerting her pups to her departure, but the swish of a silvery tail caught the attention of one, and with a startled yip, he bounded up and off to keep up with her. Lerin frowned in disappointment as the second stood from where she'd been knocked to the ground by her brother. Her head tipped, and she barked roughly for him to return. But within only a moment, the mother and cub had departed through the trees. Lerin feared the second would follow before he had a chance to creep down, so with no small degree of stupidity, he dropped from the branch, landing in a low crouch on the forest floor.

The pup yipped in fear-shock, lurching away from Lerin's location and rearing back to warningly bare its claws at him. "Sh, sh, sh..." The Shifter coaxed, placatingly extending his arms away from himself. The youngster fumbled on its paws, unsure whether to flee or express some form of agitation. It wound up tripping over itself.

There was probably nothing that would've elicited a more girlish squeal from Lerin's throat. "You are a cute thing," he cooed, reaching out a finger for the young creature to sniff while it righted itself. It opened it's maw, but before it had the chance to snap down, Lerin tugged his hand back. Even at this young age, the radaku pup didn't seem terribly enthused at the prospect of meeting outsiders. It didn't snarled, but neither was it eager to stand to close to the Shifter lad. When the mother's commanding bark came from within the brambles, the pup bolted upright.

Grumbling, and keeping its eyes on Lerin all the while, it skirted around him, head lowered warning. The Shifter watched in amusement, eyes sparkling with delight as it turned and fled to greet its mother in the brush.
