They were still packing, and she didn't know why. Why did it take them so long to get ready? Sure her mom how to finish a few things, but it shouldn't take that long. As much as she loved her father dearly, she felt that it might be his fault they hadn't left yet. It didn't seem as if he was too excited about them going. Ikuri on the other hand was so excited! To go to Zena, to take Loxy to see others of his kind. She couldn't think of anything more exciting.

Today she was wandering about Ast, trying to buy some spices for her father's tea. They normally had a ton at home but it seemed as if there was a shortage lately. Twirling her hair Ikuri looked through the merchants shops, trying to see which ones her father would like best.

Lerin strolled along through the stalls. Tandoori perched on his shoulder, nibbling on the strands of the Shifter's long, dark hair. He could say he was out here to find more bandages for the kinfa's wing. After he'd found the sad, defeated, muddy bird, he'd taken him to one of his tribe's healers. Doori had been ripped up pretty badly and abandoned to the wilderness, and Lerin knew next to nothing of caring for injuries. The healer had fixed the bird's wing as best he could, and then informed the younger male that he'd need to keep a close eye on his new companion and change his bandages regularly.

So Lerin was looking for bandages. And not half-hoping that the heartless individual that had left Tandoori in the wild would recognize the bird and approach him. Lerin wasn't much for fighting, but he sure wouldn't mind giving someone a stern talking to regarding animal welfare.

Something moved out of the corner of his eye. But, here in the populated market, Lerin thought nothing of it. He was about to continue on when the weight of his companion left his shoulder. "Doori, are you-? Eek! Stop!" He squealed in alarm as the kinfa landed (quite ungracefully) along another girl's shoulder. She must have seen the other Shifter's hair being twirled about and leaped to nibble on it.

"Yes, a few of those as well as some of those please." Ikuri said to the merchant as she pointed out what spices she thought her father would like. He would be so proud of her, that she was sure. She was about to leave when all of a sudden there was extra weight on her shoulder. She yelped in surprise as the kinfa landed. She laughed at the small thing. He was all bandaged up.

"Well hello there lovely, where did you come from?" she asked as she went to play with the bird. Looking around she noticed someone who she assumed had the bird before it landed on her shoulder. "Does he belong to you?" she asked with a smile. Before she could forget she paid the merchant and put the spices in her bag. Than she turned towards Lerin once again.

Tandoori wasn't heavy, not that heavy anyways, but he was a weight that she wasn't use to and it was very awkward for her.

Lerin winced as the girl yelped. In his mind, they were just a few moments away from a riot exploding. The girl would shriek and toss his new companion to the ground, where Tandoori would be completely powerless to stop anyone from hurting her for 'attacking' the young Shifter... Instead, the next noises were only those of Doori cooing softly as the girl fluffed at her feathers.

Lerin was quick to approach and very carefully pluck Tandoori from the girl's shoulders. "Yes, I'm very sorry!" he said in alarm, holding the bird close to his chest as he dipped his head in apology. "She's very friendly and didn't mean any harm." He straightened then, and his blue-grey gaze found the other Shifter's eyes. "She was probably just mesmerized by such a beautiful young woman." Tandoori chirped, as if in agreement. As his companion settled, Lerin slowly loosed his hold until the kinfa could clamber unsteadily back up his arm to perch on his shoulder.

As she was so cute and fluffy. It almost made Ikuri want one herself, but no she was good with just Loxy for now. Plus with her mother getting another companion she knew that bringing more animals home would just make the whole house a zoo. No, she would stick to just Loxy for now.

As the kinfa was returned to her rightful owner Ikuri smiled, blushing momentarily at his words. Oh her sister would know better what to do in a situation like this. "Why thank you, and don't worry about it. She's just beautiful. If you don't mind me asking what happened to her wing?" she looked like she had been pretty hurt, hopefully not from the other Shifter's carelessness. No he seemed to care for the bird, than again she wasn't the best at reading people.

"Oh I'm so rude, my name is Ikuri." she said holding out her hand.

Tandoori hopped a bit on Lerin's shoulder, fluttering her one good wing indignantly at being taken away from this new girl with the pretty, shimmering hair. Lerin hushed her with a pat on the head. He couldn't help but grin at the other girl's words, feeling like it was a personal compliment to himself. He had been the one to scoop the kinfa up and give her a good cleaning, after all... "Honestly? I'm not entirely sure," he admitted on a murmur. "Doori was floundering about in the mud when I found her. But she'd just so precious and friendly, I can't help but think she was someone's pet beforehand." The kinfa puffed up her chest as she recognized her name.

The Shifter squeaked in alarm at the offered hand. Ikuri called herself rude, but Lerin wasn't any better! Ugh! He'd encroached on her space (well, Doori had, in any case) first, so it definitely should've been him to give his name! he chuckled awkwardly. "I'd hardly call you rude, when I'm the one who can't keep a hold of my pets." He reached out to shake her hand. "And my name is Lerin. This is Tandoori." He gestured to the brightly colored bird at his shoulder.
