|
The Fly Family History
Many generations ago, in lands far away there lived two small groups of Soquili. They were primitive creatures. But as their lines spread they soon developed their own traditions and customs.
The lines ran strong with special markings. Lines beneath the eyes and two distinct markings of a skull with one group and an eye with the other. They believed these markings to be marks of the gods. And any who were born without them could never hold rank.
After much generational feuding between these two groups, new leaders came about. Stronger and wiser. With knowledge of the ages long since past.
Upon one star lit night, the leaders of these groups soon came together beneath the darkened sky. A secret meeting that left many of the Soquili who ranked among these groups in the dark. And there they made a plan.
At this time Dragonfly and Damselfly were just young foals. Both raised with heavy influences of their separate groups' traditions. And on that fateful morning after the meeting of the group's leaders it was announced that the two would come together and create a herd that was one of the two. A new herd that would adopt both group's traditions and beliefs and uphold them to the utmost integrity.
And as they grew, they were often kept together. Seen as the new leaders of this herd they had to be protected at all times. Not to mention at least get along. The young Dragonfly was quite assertive while Damselfly was very demure. Which the elders saw as a working combination. The new herd would have the strength and gentleness that it deserved as leaders.
Years had passed and soon the two had become adults. But they had not taken their places as heads of this new herd just yet. There would be no joining until both leaders of each group were dead. And just as mysteriously as that, one day both leaders had been found dead. There was no real cause announced as to how they had died. And everyone had been left in the dark.
The elders of the groups soon rained in Dragonfly and Damselfly as the new leaders. And the groups merged into one. Which prospered. Their traditions and beliefs held to the fullest extent. And their numbers grew.
It wasn't long after that Dragonfly and Damselfly soon sired two children. Firefly and Snakefly were their given names. Snakefly would be the heir to the herd upon his father's passing. But it would be a long time before then as Dragonfly was still fairly young and healthy himself.
As their children grew, they were surrounded by traditions. It was drilled into their heads and their paths in life were laid out before them.
But as Firefly grew, she came to hate the life of the herd. The traditions and strict rules that she had to follow. And so in the dead of night when the herd was sleeping, she slipped away. Not a word to anyone. No good byes. Nothing. She left her life and headed far far away. Finally finding her way to the Soquili lands and finding a secluded place deep in the woods to live and hide in case others were sent from the herd to find her.
And in these lands she soon found love. Creating her own family with the dappled love of her life, Sibalto. And from that her own line began and grew. Far away from the oppressive ideals of her father's herd.
Though the distance and peace from her previous life was not to last. Not long after her children had grown did Dragonfly soon make his apperance in the Soquili lands. Finally tracking down Firefly one day while she was out walking with her daughter Dafina. He attacked her. Injuring his daughter and calling her a failure. A mistake and utter disgrace to the herd. But, Dafina had at least one of the markings of their traditions. The lines going down her cheeks. And so as Firefly lay helpless on the ground, Dragonfly stole her away. Taking her back to his herd that he had brought to the other side of the mountains. There he would take his granddaughter through the mountain pass and she would join with his herd. Taking her mother's place.
But not soon after all this had happened, Ramus, a good friend of Dafina's had come across Firefly. And the dark mare told him what had happened. Both had parted ways as Ramus went to track down Dragonfly. Coming across him several times in the process and being beat down by the older stallion in every attempt he tried to reclaim Dafina.
Upon one fateful day, Firefly had come together once again with Ramus after a feverish search for her mate was fruitless. The black stallion Rahu had been with Ramus and the three of them took off to where Dragonfly had been taking Dafina. And as soon as they reached him the fight began. Ramus took on Dragonfly. The fight seemed more one sided then ever. But a small tip that Firefly had given Ramus before the fight began aided in his eventual success.
A quick strike to one of Dragonfly's back knees that had sustained a previous injury and never fully healed downed the stallion. And as quick as the wind the trio took off with Dafina. Leaving the herd behind. As well as Dragonfly who writhed on the ground.
Dafina was free to live her life again. Out from under the watchful eye and strict ways of her grandfather. Grateful for Ramus coming to her rescue, she soon developed strong feelings for him. And soon they expressed their feelings to one another. Their expressions soon harbored new life and the family line grew once more. Two daughters and a son. Darma, Dafius and Rafius.
But it was not only Dafina who was extending the family line either. Imrikalto, Firefly and Sibalto's eldest son soon started a family of his own with the alicorn Athena. Producing two grandons. Ashrialto and Kato.
After the fray with Ramus, Dragonfly had left his herd in a craze. Even with his injuries he was intent on finding the brown stallion. To break him and hurt him in the worst way possible. No strangers came to his land, to his herd and made a mockery of him.
His son, Snakefly had not long soon after taken off to find his father. Leaving his mother and the others of the herd behind.
And soon even Damselfly left the herd. Leaving a few of the younger stallions that Dragonfly and herself trusted in charge until their return. Seeking out her mate and hoping that perhaps luck would be in her favor and she would find her long lost daughter as well.
Another line in the family was born as Dafius soon came into term with the wind stallion, Alfie. Two baskets were born and at the current time everyone is waiting eagerly to see what kind of foals will be emerging from these baskets.

Bio: Having lead his herd across the mountains from his homeland to the Soquili lands, Dragonfly has been in search of his run away daughter, Firefly. His heard has its own line of traditions which have been practiced for years, before he was even a twinkle in his own father's eye.
When Firefly ran away from her destiny, he felt hurt and angry. No one had ever defied him as long as he had been herd leader. And he takes his job, his herd and its traditions VERY seriously.

Bio: Darma has never had a care in the world. Ever since she was born she's never really worried about anything serious. And why should she? She has a warm and loving family that takes care of her. As well as an awesome sister who is always around when she needs her.
Though sometimes she can be pretty naive about the world around her that never gets her down. In fact, rarely anything ever gets her down. She's always got a bright smile on her face and a happy spring in her step. Darma might not have gotten all the brains in the family, but she sure got the spirit. Others just seem drawn to her for some reason because of her happy go lucky spirit. And why wouldn't they be? She believes that if everyone could just forget their cares and worries the world would be a much easier place to live in. Its not all about finding that one person in life who makes you happy. You need to make yourself happy first and foremost because you never know when that person will come along. So turn that frown upside down!
