The days seemed to go by in nothing more than a blur for the dark mare who wandered the forests around her home like a shadowy ghost. Many things had changed. Many things were happening. Some were sad times, others happy. Especially the news she had just received from her daughter. It actually had lifted Firefly's spirits quite a bit.
But there was one thing missing. Her mate. Through all this time he was the one person she would of liked to have spent these times with. Cried with. Shared her joy with. Though he was no where to be found. It made her sad. But she didn't just wonder about her mate, no. She often wondered how her sons were doing as well. Dafina seemed to be the only one who kept touch with her. What had happened to them all? Were they hiding for some reason? Was there some unimaginable horror going on in the world outside of her sheltered home? She didn't want to think about these things.
Coming upon a tiny little pond amongst a break in the trees, she wandered to the waters edge. Looking down into the still waters at her reflection. Long two-toned hair pooling around her as dark red eyes seemed to search her reflection's soul. Some days all she had was her reflection to rely on for company.

Feeling more world-weary than ever before, the silver stallion Sibalto moved through the forest at a slow walk. His steps uncharacteristically heavy, his heart weighted by sorrows and fears. Many days ago Tashika had needed to take a long journey, one it would not have been safe for her to walk... So he'd accompanied her... But being gone so long from his mate did his heart little good... He missed his beloved Firefly, his fiery daughter Dafina... Missed Ferraro and the ever-goodtempered Imrikalto... But Imri was away wooing his mare, and who knew where Ferraro was... So Sibalto went in search of his lady, to apologize for his absence... To learn all he had missed, for surely it was a lot. Pausing at the edge of the grove he sighed thankfully, summoning his first smile in far too long. "Firefly." Scars traced beneath the shadows of his dapples, testamates of his fight with the lurking Kalona stallion who called himself Aveshar. Aveshar who seemed to hate everything, following the spirit-haired shaman for who knew what reason... Plenty of time to think about him later. "Beloved Firefly."

She had heard it. Not once, but twice. Her name spoken softly, the wind carrying it to her ears which instantly perked up as she lifted her head quickly. Could it be?
It had been so long since she'd heard Sibalto's voice, but there was no mistaking it. It hadn't come from very far away, in fact it seemed to be fairly close to where she was. With a flick of her tail she did a three sixty, turning on her heels and quickly moved through the trees. Dark eyes searching every space around her for a glimpse of her love. Her heart beating quickly with excitement. Before long, she broke through the trees and there he stood. As handsome as she had remembered him and her heart skipped a beat. "Sibalto..." Her voice barely above a whisper.

Sibalto smiled, nodding his head slightly as he arched his neck and pranced toward her, playfully mimicing his actions of so long ago. He was glad to be with his lovely mate again, was sorry it had taken this long... At least he knew Imri was well, here was hoping Firefly could tell him the rest. "I'm sorry it has been so long, dear-heart... It was never my intention.." He said softly, nuzzling her cheek when he reached her. "I hope you did not miss me too terribly..." Even as he said it, he knew she heard the exact opposite, and grinned playfully. "Tell me I have not missed too much..."

Cocking an eyebrow she gave him a sassy look. Eyes lidding half way after he nuzzled her. "Missed you? I barely noticed you were gone." A quick wink before she tucked her head beneath his chin. Getting as close to him as she physically could. His scent, his warmth. She had missed it all during their time apart. That feeling came back like an old friend you hadn't seen for years. But this was more.
Pulling back for a moment, she looked up into his eyes. A small frown on her lips. "You've missed more than you know. But, theres just too much to talk about at once." A sly grin curled the corners of her mouth as she made a turn away from him. Giving a small flick of her long tail. "I will tell you this though. We're both getting pretty old now a days. Grandpa."

Sibalto managed a whining whinny that didn't betray too much of his inner mirth, and tried to look wounded. "Didn't even notice? Didn't even notice?! Ahh how you break my heart, love of my life!" He nuzzled her gently, smiling, happily curling around her when she snuggled close. Flicking his ears, he wondered what all could have happened in his absence, and then followed her across the glade with a playful smile. Her words took a moment or two to sink in. "I... Grandpa?" He gaped, ears flinging forward and head jerking up in surprise. One of their foals, having children of their own? "Who? When? With whom?!" There was so much he wanted to know.

She grinned, casting a small glance out of the corner of her eye. Having expected the slew of questions that were to come. "Well, I'm pretty sure you'd know if Imri was having foals. Ferrao, I haven't seen him since he left. So there's only one left." Nuzzling the side of his neck, she closed her eyes for a moment. "Dafina of course. With a nice young stallion named Ramus."
A thoughtful look washed over her face as she seemed to search the sky for an answer. "I would figure by now that they are either born already and in baskets by now or its very close to that time."

Yes, he would have known if Imri and his lady were having foals... He saw his son more than the rest of his beloved family... And Ferraro, true enough, they heard from not at all... Dafina? Dafina spent the most time with her beautiful mother... "Dafina." He whispered, resting his chin over his mate's shoulders. "My beautiful baby girl..." His heart almost broke at the thought, joy at the occassion and sorrow he had missed so much warring within him. "Beautiful Dafina a mother..." He smiled then, heart swelling. "Wondrous... Ramus, you say? Is he good enough?" Every father's question, not that he wouldn't draw his own conclusions when he met the stallion himself... But Firefly could be just as protective, and her opinion meant much. "Babies..." He laughed then, his heart soaring, prancing around his mate and nuzzling her cheeks. "It makes me miss the old days, darling... And our own foals... Our precious daughter, a mother herself!"

Turning her head slightly to look at him as he rested his chin on her shoulders, Firefly nickered lightly with a small grin. "She's not a baby anymore, love. Though perhaps to all parents they still see their children as just that." She realized how Sibalto might feel, knowing he had missed quite a bit in the lives of her and even their daughter. But things just couldn't be helped sometimes.
"Yes, I believe he is good enough. He's proven himself quite a few times to be quite good enough." The mare didn't feel much like delving into the past at the moment. And did not think it would be best to tell her mate just exactly what had gone on in his absence. She had looked for him, but could not find him. And time was dire for action. "I miss those days as well. But every parent must feel that way when their foals grow up and start families of their own. It makes one realize that they are all grown up and aren't as dependant on you to keep them safe, feed them. All those things parents do. Dafina will go through it just as I have, I'm sure." She nuzzled his nose, laughing lightly at his cheerful antics.
He was never one to let things get him down and lightened the mood whenever possible. It was just one of those things that made her love him even more. Sibalto had a wild spirit to him, even if he had come from a land where spirit like his might have been frowned upon. But it blossomed out here within him. And she was happy that the odd looking two-leggers had brought him to her.

He sighed, nipping playfully at her ears even as his gaze softened. True enough his dark Lady had a point... Imri, Dafina and Ferraro hadn't been 'babies' for a long time... But Dafina being the only girl... Well, she'd always be his princess... "I know she isn't." He sighed, sobering. "I am glad she has found someone worthy of her... I am glad she loves him enough to stay with him, to start a family... It, eases my heart to know someone will be taking care of her..." He tugged at her forelock gently, pressing his forehead to her's. "Beautiful Firefly..."

She laughed lightly. Nuzzling the side of his neck with her nose and then her cheek. Resting the side of her face against his skin and looking up at him. "I doubt Dafina will need any taking care of. Perhaps a bit of company and love yes, but she has your spirit love. She can handle herself quite well." Her long tail flicked once in a long, drawn out motion. Firefly closed her eyes as Sibalto pressed his forehead against her's. Her smile widening. "My handsome Sibalto..."
Ears perked forward as her dark red eyes slipped open half way. An almost intoxicated look upon her dark features. "So tell me love, how has Imrikalto been? It has been a very long time since I've seen him. The spirits like to keep his hooves moving it seems."

Sibalto smiled. His daughter had his spirit? He chuckled at that. Firefly was bold and fearless and could walk her own path, Dafina had those same qualities, as far as he was concerned. "Always your's... Lovely Lady." He promised.
He grinned and tugged playfully at a lock of her mane, as he'd always done. "Imri called on me near the Teepee earlier this morning... He wanted to talk to me about something... It seems he has a Lady Friend he'd like us very much to meet..."

((Ok, just uh...let me know when to toss in Firefly I guess. x3 ))
She smiled. Closing her eyes once again, listening to the sound of his voice. "And that's the way it should be." The mare said quite matter of factly, nudging a knee against his chest playfully as she gave another flick of her long two toned tail.
Ears perked forward as he mentioned a 'lady friend' of their son's. Pursing her lips, she raised an eyebrow slightly. "Ohh, so our son's finally found himself a little mare to get attached to." Firefly grinned lightly. "Perhaps you'll become a grandfather twice now." In all actuality, the mare had no clue what her son did in his life. Rarely did he keep in touch with her and all that she could know came from her mate. In all reality this unknown mare could really be 'just friends' with Imrikalto.
