As Dafina made her way to catching up with her mother, her mind was still stuck on the little conversation she had had with Ramus before hand.
She was giddy. Happy. Excited.
To the point of almost kicking up her heels if she wasn't so tired.
The strain of living with her grandfather in his captivity had worn her out. Rarely had she ever gotten a bit of good rest while amongst the strange herd. But now with the efforts by her mom and Ramus, she was free again.
Not too long after she had left Ramus she caught up with her mother. A wide smile on her lips as she galloped up next to her. Giving Firefly a loving nuzzle. Grateful still to be free.
She was free.

The older mare's steps were light. The heavy weight of depression had quickly lifted as soon as they all had gotten away.
She herself knew that this would not be the end. But at least it was a break amongst the chaos. Her father would return, but at least they could all take a breather for the moment.
Firefly didn't have to wonder what Dafina had wanted to talk to Ramus about. She knew very well in her mind what it was about. The mare had seen it in her young daughters eyes.
It made her smile. And it reminded her that her children were growing up. They weren't the small little foals she had to protect anymore. But at least she could try and protect Dafina. Even if it was by the sidelines now.
The quick hoof beats that came up behind her made her turn her head. Dark red eyes glittering as the sight of Dafina came into view and just as quickly she nuzzled her daughter back lovingly. Licking at her ears softly and giving a gentle nicker.
"So, how'd it go?" Firefly tilted her head. Raising a slender eyebrow in question. She could tell just by the look on her daughter's face that it had gone quite well indeed.

She nudged her mother playfully. A light blush darkening her cheeks as she let a bit of her mane to fall over her eyes. "It went well I think."
It went very well in her mind. Much more than she could of expected.
Dafina remembered the first time she had met Ramus. And the few other times afterwards. How they scuffled and had their little tiffs. All in all, if she had been told that Ramus was going to rescue her from her grandfather back then. She probably wouldn't of believed it.
But he had proven her wrong. And she was happy he did. She had missed being away from him.
It was funny how two 'friends' could end up in their situation. And in the end find each other as something more after wards.

"Ah, young love. It takes me back." She laughed lightly. Giving a small shake of her head as she walked. "Sometimes it feels just like yesterday I had met your father."
Firefly might have grown in age, but her memory was like a steel trap. Of course, these memories reminded her that it had been quite some time since she had last seen her mate....
Just around the time the children had started to grow and take off on their own. It made her a little bit sad.
But now was not the time to think of sad thoughts. She had Dafina back. Well, she knew ultimately that Dafina would run off to find Ramus again. But for now she had her baby girl to herself.

Dafina's blush only deepened as her mother spoke. Her tail moved lightly behind her as she walked along side the older mare.
"M-mother!" Ducking her head slightly, she looked up at her. "We, haven't really gotten to that point. I mean...we know there are feelings there but--we haven't said that word to each other yet."
She shuffled her hooves lightly. Kicking up a bit of dirt and grass. How embarrassing really. Talking about these kinds of things with her mother seemed a little off, but she also knew that her mother knew more about this thing than she probably did.
Besides, there was no manual or certain way to go about these kinds of things.

Firefly turned a warm glance to Dafina. A subtle smile on her lips.
"Well, why not? You both obviously care about each other. If you don't jump on him now Dafina he might just wiggle away." She sighed lightly. Youngin's. They really had no clue sometimes.
But if Dafina wanted to take it slow, well she wasn't going to be the one to push. Unless Dafina was unsure? No, that couldn't of been the reason. Her daughter was strong and knew what she felt. And stood by it. There was no confusion.
So why?

She let out a small sigh of her own.
"I just...I just don't want to rush things too fast. I'm afraid that if we jump into things too quickly things will die down quickly as well. I want to relish in the fact that I--I found someone I want to spend the rest of my life with. Thats all." Lifting her head, she tilted it just a bit.
"But, should I use the word 'love' so quickly? I know I have feelings for him and he does for me but..." Dafina closed her eyes. Letting her ears relax just a bit. "I just don't want it to chase him away. I mean, he's said he will stick by me. How am I so sure?"

The mare stopped in her tracks. Her tail flicking behind her slowly in long, fluid movements.
"Dafina, love is just a word. Theres no reason to be afraid to use it. If you know deep down in the bottom of your heart and soul that you love him you should tell him. Theres only so much emotion and feelings you can put into words as you can with actions."

Opening her eyes, she raised an eyebrow at her mother. "So much feelings you can put into words as you can with actions?" That thought puzzled her just a little, but she grasped a bit of the main concept of what her mother was telling her.
She just needed to let Ramus know her true feelings before things became stagnant and he might loose interest. But, she didn't feel that would happen. It would just take a bit of biting the bullet and catching her nerv to do so. It didn't seem so hard, but the thought scared her just a bit.

Firefly smiled and nuzzled her daughter once more. Lingering for just a few more moments before she started to walk again. "Don't worry so much about it, Dafina. The time will come when you know to say what you want. Your heart won't let you down, I promise. And you will think it so silly that you were nervous before."
She cast a glance to the sky as it began to darken more. "Lets pick up the pace a bit so we can get back home before it becomes too dark." With that, she quickened her walk just a bit.
The mare really didn't want to get stuck out in the dark.

The words her mother spoke were most certainly true. Dafina knew her mom was quite wise in the ways of the heart and she always had good advice about just about anything really.
The young mare would just listen to her heart, as well as her head. When she met up with Ramus next, it would certainly be a bit nerv racking to say the least.
She picked up her step almost instantly as her mother mentioned it. Dafina was ready for a good sleep.
