Firefly had not the patience to wait. She had searched for her mate or any sign of her sons for days. But she was wearing thin.
Having picked up on her father's trail, she set off. Many days had passed until she finally caught up to them. Keeping to the shadows and less traveled trails to hide her presence.
Dragonfly had wandered away momentarily one day and she had tried to approach the herd, searching for Dafina the best she could. But she had been stopped by a couple of stallions. Driven away by their harsh nips and sharp hooves.
But it hadn't broken her spirit. Or her hopes. She still had faith that possibly that young stallion she had met not too long ago would come. And possibly with others to help. Perhaps he was able to track Sibalto down.
She lingered in the shadows once more. Dark red eyes peering at each herd members face. Trying to find the familiar one of her daughter. Once Dragonfly had returned from dealing with Ramus, he had been informed of Firefly's presence and approach. Now he kept a weary eye and a tight guard around his herd and Dafina.
She was up to something. Scheming something. He knew it.
The old stallion might of found great displeasure in his daughter's actions, but he knew what things she could do. She was of his own blood after all. And smart.
Perhaps he had taught her too well.
Dragonfly watched his heard upon a small hill as they grazed around him. Scanning the edges of the field in which they had been lingering in for any movement. Be it enemies or his own flesh and blood or even someone he expected to come sooner or later.
He had to give Ramus some credit. The young stallion did have drive and even winded him momentarily at their last meeting. It made him think.
But soon his worries would be over. If he could get his herd to the mountain pass they would be gone from these lands forever. It was spring and it would be clear of snow.
He just needed to drive them faster. Dafina had been kept under close watch by a group of stallions that her grandfather had appointed himself. Apparently one of them was her uncle. Though she barely knew much about him and he rarely spoke.
Though she did take some comfort at night when she was allowed to sleep with the other mares. One of which her own grandmother. The older mare assured her that everything would be ok.
But it wasn't.
This wasn't the life Dafina wanted. But ultimately it seemed like the only choice she was going to be given. Even her grandmother's words did little to sooth her.
Many days she thought about her family. Her father, mother. Imri and Ferrao. Ramus....
She had over heard Dragonfly speaking about him once he had returned from his little away time. Or at least she believed it was Ramus he had been talking about with the other stallions amongst the herd. They were told to keep a look out for a stallion who kept being a nuisance to her grandfather.
Dafina hoped. Some nights she prayed that it was her friend. Other days she spent day dreaming of him coming to rescue her. But those thoughts where instantly shoved to the back of her mind after enough time.
It all seemed so hopeless. But that small spark in the back of her heart still flickered. Even as they grew closer to the mountain pass that she knew would lead this herd away from everything she knew.
Everything she loved.

Rahu had taken great displeasure in having to track his damn grandson down. it was because Aruna was worried over Ramus that she had 'forced' him to go and find him. having finaly tracked his foolish grandson down, he was even more displeased in hearign what he had been up too. " your being a fool but since your dear old grandmother wants you kept safe i suppose im forced to keep an eye on you specialy after what you started."
Ramus only gave a cheeky grin that furthered his grandfathers annoyance. oh he had not expected to see his grandfather so soon but it seemed that couldnt be avoided. it was one thing to have his grandfathers displeasure it was another when his father found out. going on the search he hoped to run into firefly before he ran into Dragonfly, specialy with his grandfather trailing right behind, who had voiced his annoyance. little did he know his grandfather already knew who firefly was.

She paced.
It seemed like she always paced now. Always moving. Rarely resting.
Firefly felt dragged down. Run through the mud then out through a ringer. But of course thats the way she felt. She was a mother. And her child had been taken from her. Tossed into a world the mare thought she had left behind but it indeed did catch up with her.
Her nose caught a scent in the wind and her head instantly turned towards it. It was familiar and there were...two of them. But neither were of her family.
They were moving straight towards the herd.
She moved quick and quite. Almost cat like as she went to intercept them. To stop them from giving away that they were there.
But she hesitated for a moment. Stopping in her tracks as she thought. Perhaps it would be better to let them go. No, she had to stop them. If it was that young stallion like she thought it was and he had brought help. Sending them straight into the lion's den would not be a very good option.

Rahu clamped down on Ramus' ear to make him stop as he wondered if Ramus was even tellign him the whole story. " we are not going no where atlest not til you tell me everything. i beleive you left some things out and im not having it Ramus." glaring at ramus he made him follow him more into the trees to be more hidded for now atlest. " now spit it out." ofcourse he wasnt beign loud but he was being rather demanding.
Ramus' eyes grew wide as his grandfather bite his ear and then questioned him. damn it he never asked for him to come along and he purposly tryed to not tell him everything as he knew he would get even more angry. " damn it fine" grumbling and tryign not to be loud he started to fill in the whole story.

Firefly's ears perked forward.
There was only so far her nose would take her and the sound of approaching hoof beats grew silent.
They must of stopped.
She leaned her head forward just a bit, listening closely. The sounds of quiet whispers getting a bit louder as she continued to walk. Her long tail trailed behind her, moving slowly back and forth as she let her ears lead her.
"Hello?" The mare called out quietly. Not wanting to alert anyone of Dragonfly's herd who might be out on patrol.

Rahu's ears flicked back as he heard the quiet hello. it seemed someoen else besides them was sneeking about, but he couldnt place where he had heard the voice once before. shakign his head, he gave a low growl. " you better show yourself before i make you show yourself. i got no tolerace at this point in time." right now he was boilign angery with Ramus and didnt want to deal with someoen else at this point.
Ramus had his ears flicked back and was silent. he knew better than to get on any more his of grandfathers bad side at this point. oh he perked a bit when he realized he reconized the voice but decided to keep silent for now atlest to save himself from getign a swift kick in the rear from his grandfather.

She knew that voice.
It was so long ago that it was hard to remember the name to which it belonged. But she knew it.
Following the threat that had come her way, she came upon the two stallions. Eyes falling upon Ramus. A soft and relieved smile came to her lips. But as her eyes moved to the darker stallion, her eyebrows furrowed.
"Rahu..." Her voice was low as her ears flicked back for a moment. Never in a million years would she have thought that she would run across him again.
And what exactly was he doing here with the other?

" well well look at whom we got here." Rahu gave a smirk but then narrowed his eyes. " i'd love to hear what your up to." as his eyes glanced at Ramus he could see he reconized her and he had caught the moment where she had reconized ramus. tail flicking, he kept his voice even and low as he knew others had to be around.
Ramus was happy to see dafina's mother but things changed quickly when she noticed his gradnfather. looking from one to the other, he wondered just how they knew one another.

"Unfortunately the same can't be said for me." She did not smirk. She did not retort. There were far more things important than dealing with Rahu at the moment.
Turning her attention to Ramus, her eyes seemed clearer now. "They're just beyond there." Her head swing lightly in the direction not too far in front of them all at that moment. "I see you were unable to find my mate....or my sons. I myself had no luck in doing so either."

Rahu puposly block Ramus adn gave a low rumbling chuckle. " so much has seems to have happened the last time we have met for the both of us. but i have to get involded here when it comes to my grandson being a stupid fool trying to get into the middle of someone elses family fued." eyeing her, he now wondered what she would respond with now that she knew she would have to deal with him because of his relation to ramus.
Ramus sighed as his grandfather kept at it. wrinkling his nose, he moved around his grandfather and bite his ear. " must we have to go threw this all grandfather?" snorting, he moved out of the way as his grandfather snapped at him. " i'm not here to argue all day." and there was the death glare from his grandfather, which ment he was in for it the minute they where done here.

"Perhaps he is involved because he has other reasons. Reasons that I'm sure you could never understand." For a moment, Rahu reminded Firefly of her own father.
Eerily too similar in fact.
Taking a step forward, Firefly gained a second win. Feeling a small spark of strength she hadn't in months. "Why should you control what he does? Why should you dictate what his heart tells him? Because he sprung your own blood line? No." Her ears perked upward, eyebrows furrowing deeply as her eyes locked on the black stallion. "If you are not going to help him with what he wishes to do then stand aside. It may be part of my family feud, but he put himself in it of his own free will. He made that conscious decision for someone he cares about."
She glanced at Ramus out of the corner of her eye. Searching for any reaction from him. Firefly may have been older, but she could still see things as plain as day. The years and family had not clouded her judgment. "You would not have tried if you did not care for her. My daughter." It was less of a question and more of a statement.

Rahu was not at all pleased with what was going on. " i was asked to find him and make sure he wasnt being a stupid fool which it seems he is being as i heard all of what he has done." his eyes narrowed in a glare but he did nothing more than that. " controling him, to keep him from being stupid yes specialy when its over some mare."
Ramus rolled his eyes at his grandfather. " i shouldnt have to have myself watched after even if grandma is worryed." he then gave a sigh. " i can make decisons for myself and learn from any mistakes." catching Fireflys glance he then gave a nod to her. " i guess maybe thats why i gone so far to help her out." givign a embaressed grin, he gave his grandfather a shove. " im tired of arguing and listenign to it as its not what im here for."
Rahu growled and snaped at ramus. " well then dont come whining to me Ramus. i sure hope this is worth your time."

"A fool maybe in your eyes. But you wouldn't understand what is right in front of your own eyes, Rahu. You might say you do, but I doubt it. If you were at risk of loosing someone close to you, would you do the same thing? Would you put aside your foolish stallion pride?" Her nostrils flared lightly as she gave a quick flick of her tail.
She turned to Ramus once more. "I think you've done a fine job Rahu with this boy. But you need to let him go and stop pestering him like some mother hen. You need to let the past go. He doesn't want to fight. He only wants to help." Another soft smile graced her lips as she gave a wink to Ramus. "I'm tired of fighting as well. But I am hopeful that it is my last one. If your with us then fine. If your going to stand her like a little colt throwing a temper tantrum because you don't get your way then do so."
Firefly turned away from him. If he could not move on from the past at least a little and put aside his in digressions then that was his problem.
And she pitied him a bit for it.
"It won't be easy. There are many of them and few of us. But if you can get Dragonfly alone one on one you may have more of a chance."

Rahu just rolled his eyes and wasnt about to answer the question of if he where at risk of losing someone close if he would put aside his pride. not going to contiune arguing, he kept silent because this would just drag on and it was only an annoyance.
" i wouldn't go that far seeign as my grandma only wanted him to look after me cause she was worried, plus if it wasnt my grandfather coming after me it would be my father. which im not sure which is worse." giving a smirk, he felt he was ready for the challange to come. " i beleive Dragonfly will want another one on one seeing as i been such a pain in his rear by having challanged him more than once."
Rahu grumbled out only one thing before walking in the direction they would have to take. "as i said before i hope its worth your trouble Ramus."

Deep down inside, Firefly was actually a bit grateful that Rahu decided to join them. Though she wasn't quite sure if he would be more help than trouble.
Time would tell.
She would have rather it of been Sibalto, but that just didn't happen. The mare almost kicked up her heels if it weren't for the fact that now they had another objective to focus on.
Her father and his herd.
Glancing at Rahu then back to Ramus she shook her head lightly. "I doubt anyone is worse than your grandfather." She gave a small laugh. It had been a long time since she last laughed and it almost felt alien to her.
Quietly now, she followed after Rahu. Making sure that Ramus kept up. Everything was laying on his shoulders now. She would try to help the best she could. How she knew she could.
Firefly knew the laws of the herd in and out. Her pace quickened as she pulled ahead of Rahu a bit. Destination set, she was determined to get there and get this started, ended and go home as soon as possible. Glancing back at the two, she gave a slight twitch of her ear before heading off again.
Hope and luck were all they had now.
