 It had been several days past since the dark mare had ventured from the trees. The summer's heat was horrid, what with her dark coat. Black just seemed to attract it better than any other color.
But there was salvation on the horizon. Firefly had found herself a nice little pond, surrounded by large shady trees that cast dark shadows upon the grass.
Making her way out of the darkness of the forest, dark red eyes set on the cool, crystal water that sparkled beneath that beating sunlight. It seemed like this summer was never going to end. Flicking an ear, the motion sent the feathers attached behind it fluttering against her neck. She stepped carefully out onto the moistened bank and with what seemed like one fluid motion she slipped carefully into the water. It was deep enough to submerse her body up to where it nearly came over her back.
Not much thought went into how wet her feathers would be. The call of the cold water enticed her too much and she needed it's soothing touch upon her skin. Closing her eyes, she relaxed while standing there. Her head and neck poking through the water's surface as her coat soaked up whatever liquid it could get.

When Tashika removed the bridle Sibalto had been grateful to be free of it and his saddle... It was far too warm to be racing about like he usually did, or be carrying stuff for Tashika. Eager to search for his mate, he trotted slowly through the shadey woods, thinking it wisest to visit all the places she might swim.
Knowing his dark coated lady, he was sure that on a sunny, warm day like this the first thing she would want to do was cool off... Which didn't sound too bad to him either...
Her scent wove through the woods as he neared the pool she was wading in, and he picked up his pace. Silver body slipping through the emerald wall of trees, he slowly moved to the water's edge and whickered a greeting.
"Good afternoon, my dark lady." He rumbled in his charming voice, which these days seemed reserved exclusively for this mare.

Firefly's head instantly turned around as she heard the familiar voice of her mate. Her long two toned hair floated like silk upon the surface of the water. Dark eyes locking with his as she gave a bashful smile.
"Don't you know it's not nice to sneak up on a lady when she's bathing?" With a quick flick of her tail, she splashed a bit of water up over the edge of the pond at him. "I could of been seriously filthy and you'd see me looking like a dirt covered mutt."

"Dirt and mud never looked so good, to grace a coat as fine as your's, my love." He offered with a smile as he waded into the water and splashed at her playfully.
"If you'd like me to leave Firefly, you have but to ask." He ducked his head. "I am at the Lady's command, always."

Her cheeks flushed, but she was still thankful of her black coat. It kept others from seeing such things. Wading around in circles, she eyed him with each turn about. "You just got here and are already asking if I want you to leave?" She moved closer and gave him a wet nuzzle. Long hair floating about them in the water. "I don't want you to leave, love."

Sibalto ducked his head, feigning bashfulness as he paced around the edge of the lake. Slowly he stepped into deeper water, sighing as it covered his knees, and then reached his belly. It really was a hot day...
"Well, if you wish to wade in peace my lady, you have but to order me away...." He winked at her. "But I would hope you'd like me to stay, My Lady..."
He waded into the water and nuzzled her, rumbling lovingly. "I missed you..."

Puffing out her cheeks, she eyed him curiously. "If you keep saying that I might just change my mind and send you away." Leaning her head down, she took in a mouthful of water then squirted it back out at him. Giving a cheeky grin, she let her damp hair slide across her face for a second. "I missed you, too."

Sibalto chuckled and nipped at her playfully, slipping through the water like a silver ghost. His floating strides carried him through the water effortlessly as he wove circles about his mate.
"It warms my heart to hear that, my Lady..." He smiled, nosing her mate off of her face. "Do not hide thy beautiful face my lady... You wound my heart, hiding from me..."

Her head turned slightly as she watched him do his circles around her in the water. A small smile parting her dark lips as she raised a curious eyebrow. "It amazes me how you are always in a pleasant mood, love. Does nothing phase you?" She tossed her head, trying to get the damp hair out of her face. Wet hair was so much harder to control it seemed.

Sibalto gave a shrug, comming to a stop as a strange expression -like a dark mask- passed over his face... He breathed heavily through his nostrils -the thin skin flaring red- then seemed to shiver from nose to the tip of his tail.
"Much of my past was, unpleasant, my love... I have been a different stallion than you see before you for much of my life, love... Pray that I never become that again... Even I do not like that part of me... "

Stretching out her neck, she touched noses with his gently. "That's not exactly what I meant. More like, you don't wake up in a bad mood like some or certain things don't put you in a down mood is all." Her ears flattened against her head slightly as she frowned. "I'm sorry if I upset you. I know your past was hard and I didn't mean to bring those memories up in your mind."

Sibalto shook his head and nuzzled her, nickering softly. "I do wake up grumpy, but by the time I have left the glade and am on my way to see you, I'm in a sufficiently better mood."
He winked, nipping at her playfully. "You could never upset me my dear... I'm more than happy to spend every day with you... I have yet to find anything that can dissappoint when I am with you..."

She raised a curious eyebrow at him for a moment before shaking her head. Clearing her mind of the topic at hand.
"I'm glad then." Nipping at his cheek lightly, she moved away in the water with a cheeky grin. Turning circles, letting her mane and tail float about in the water behind her as she did so. "I wouldn't want to bring back any horrible memories with my idle prattling."

Sibalto watched her, smiling faintly. "My love, I doubt any of your talk is 'idle prattle'... I am quite sure the mind behind those exquisite eyes is at least six galloping steps ahead of mine at all times... I can only hope from time to time, pity for your mate will make you merciful..."
He pranced through the shallows of the water, splashing and enjoying himself.

A small grin graced the dark mare's features as she watched him splash about. "Merciful? What is this mercy you speak of?" She moved up next to him, giving his ear a n** before prancing away. Although she was slowed just a bit by the restriction of the water as she moved back into the deeper water. Just a few more minutes in the coolness then she would come out.
