Starts: Now! Closes for judging:Friday December 4th 11AM Est
At first, life seemed to be... Serene. Cuauhcoatl had found the love of his life, an Usida named Ikinya, and was helping a single father care for his children as he sought for one lost in the woods, and had returned with not only her, but their mother as well. They had an adoptive Usida son growing into a fine young man, and a young women he had met while she was still but a foal, came for family and sanctuary shortly after they rescued another young stallion from possible death.
And they had a dear friend, who had agreed to acting as a surrogate mother since he and his beloved could not bear children together... And had just given birth to three children, placed lovingly by their biological mother into the enchanted baskets that would keep them safe and fed as they to the state of development lesser 'horses' were born directly into, and their Usida mother waded into the middle of the three baskets, happily thanking their friend for the gift she had given them.
However, that was when things began to change.
While their biological mother was a good mare, and only had the best of intentions, she stole away in the night during a thunderstorm with one of the baskets, hiding it away so she could return for the others, fearing her children were to be reared believing the smaller soquili was their true mother, that the stallion she had hoped would realize it was madness to be with an Usida and would instead love her and be just friends with the other one rather then the other way around, truly was in love with Ikinya.
However, as she came for the other two, the father stood strong and protective of the other ones, pleading to know where the other was, and why she was doing this -- she wouldn't be left out of the family, she could still be with her children, they would know she was their biological mother, just as Ikinya was their adoptive mother. Kayla could be a part of their life, but they were just as much theirs as they were hers, so she could not take them away from them.
Upset, confused, and unsure of herself, knowing she wouldn't be able to get past the large angeni to 'rescue' any more of her own children, she lashed out verbally, spilling her feelings out -- That Cuauhcoatl was sick for wanting to raise her children with, not only an usida for a mother and brother, but around meat eaters such as the quarter kalona kaliska and the mutant Kalona mix of Darius "Chompy". That something was wrong, and that she'd die trying to keep the one child she had managed to save safe from his madness.
And then she fled into the darkness of the stormy night, where the stallion was grounded and would be unable to bring light to follow.
--------
The aftermath shook the small, unnamed herd to the very root. They knew Kayla was a good mare, and a kind caring soul -- with everything combined about what their group was finally broke her resolve, it was more then possible that they were not a group allowed by regular society. And to make matters worse, Mecho returned without his son from a trading trip -- Harpy's had taken Cabriole as a pet. And they were not large enough in number to rescue him.
Feeling powerless, Cuauhcoatl stayed with the remaining two baskets, he shifted into his human form and began to carve a totem, putting his heart and soul into into it, and put some of his angeni light into it as a blessing that would hopefully steer evil away.
Exiting his longhouse, he planted the tall totem into the ground, and declared their herd to be Yectenehua, which in the Nahuatl language he felt most at home with, meant "to bless".
He then shifted back to his horse form to pray that all of those who moved as members of yectenehua would remained blessed even outside the gaze of their totem, and for those who were good could find a sanctuary to call home.
With this blessing, The first Sanctuary of Yectenehua was born.
Years later, however, the small, isolated territory requiring wide detours to avoid Flock territory, either over the mountains to the desert, around the mountains and through the northern plains, or south deep into the heart of skinwalker territory, they relocated permanently to Cuauhcoatl's south western home in the peninsula and began to build. From there, aquatic members began to join their herd, happy to be treated not as freaks or curiosities, but rather equal members of the group. And the environment was purposely manipulated and worked to reflect this.
A symbol of hope and of sanctuary for those outcast from their societies for being 'strange' in appearance for for their love, as well as a home for those seeking higher learning, Yectenehua has become a place of tolerance and acceptance, and the founders soon found more children to love and care for.
But the heartache that started this place of love lingered until one day, a young mare named sapphire, damaged and hurt mentally, emotionally, and physically by her captor, was given sanctuary and nursed back to health with love and compassion. As she slowly left the broken shell she had become and regained herself, making friends in the herd and given the compassion and protection needed to feel safe, she learned from others with curious poking about how they had lost a child to fear and intolerance, taken away from them from someone they had thought of as a friend rather than raised along side with them, losing both a friend and a child while having had a seed of doubt having been planted that they'd be accepted by others or would ever safely be able to try and surrogate, content in just adopting.
With her friend, Cadence Amachi, and full of love for this pair who did so much for others with no interest in anything in return, the two decided to offer their services as surrogates. It took a little while to convince the pair to accept their offers.
(Storywise, Cadence should be pregnant and getting closer toward giving birth at the time the baskets show up. However IRL... We sort of wanted to wait till we had these baskets before making the breeding agreement, so the breeding hasn't officially started yet.)

Rules
• Should not be evil or violent • Yectenehua is an Rp based herd, Cuauh, Ikinya and their children are a fully rp'ed family unit. We'd prefer you RP and/or plot with us and other members of Yectenehua after getting them so we at least know what they're up to and can keep them involved with the herd! • No Foalnappings, permanent separation plots (running away forever, getting swept away in a storm, etc), or death plots please -- adults can move out because they fell in love, either with a soquili or a culture or a location, and in that situation they might lose contact with them and never find out they die if you choose to kill them, but as long as you're soquili is in Yectenehua, we'd prefer you not kill them, nor make them leave on bad terms for their family: NOT because we're against said plots, but because all three soquili involved in the creation of these baskets have had a hard enough time without losing ANOTHER child (having lost one to foalnapping) • Name needs to be either: Based on a Gemstone, African based (Zulu, Swahili, afrikaans, etc), Nahautl, Mayan, indigenous Mexican names, or Quechua in Origin. •
The Primary home of Yectenehua resides to the west of kawani territories, in a somewhat small peninsula guarded by the ocean and steep mountains, with only a narrow mountain pass to enter for those unable to fly high enough or climb part of the way. The land within is cut vertically with a single winding river, the river mouth dominating the tip of it.
In the middle, a small village has been formed over the years, with long houses and bath houses of sorts, food storage facilities... And, even a steam bath Swim canals set up for aquatic members to be able to join the landwalkers. Originally yectenehua formed to the northewest in the mountain valleys, and the small, single longhouse location is kept as an away station and location where flying individuals tend to be the main travelers there, since the main path toward it has since been occupied by The Flock. This location is relatively 'amphibious' and, at times, might be mistaken for a human village at a distance. However, upon closer inspection, its quite obvious it had been built by Cuauhcoatl in his human form and Handed familiars such as raccoon and squirrels with the assistance of other members. Each project is done by all members of the herd capable of assisting in some way, as well as any guests staying there for an education or to weather the winter. Some houses are built directly over ponds to allow aquatic members to warm up and stay in the village rather than migrating into the ocean for the winter or join in herd discussions.
Earthlodges have been dug out and built up to create food storage areas, and farms, gardens, and orchards continue to develop as the herd works together, some of them learning gardens for guests and youngsters to learn the basics of agriculture. Many members who stay help with the harvest and planting and tending.
There is a territory in the northwestern mountains as well, but it is only one longhouse, one steambath, and a small garden. It still has much of Cuauhcoatl's possessions from when he was alone, and it is often mostly used as a home base for flying lessons for members of the herd with the capability of flight, and as an isolated place of intensive learning and self run research.
Other Members of yectenehua include: Multiple other soquili families (including Mecho Amachi and Melody Forte and a good number of their kids), multiple singular soquili (Including Mers and Seathi), a large flock of Harpy Eagle Familiars that Xochicoatl, Cuauhcoatl's Bonded Familiar and Spirit-Sister, is leader of, as well as many other familiar members. All are treated as equals.
Ikinya is a bundle of qualities in one small package. Firstly, the heart of this mare speaks no bounds. She has a compassion for life, and everyone in it and isn't afraid to let it be known. Her love is strong, and heart large as can be for all of her family and her herd. This love evolves at time, and had allowed her to love a number of children they've adopted like they were her own, even the children of her herdmates often fall under her loving nature - Ikinya is happiest around others and spreading her ideal of kindness and affection. Yet the mare isn't all feely, Ikinya has an innate courage, stemmed from her core desire to protect her ideals. She steps up to any challenge presented to her, and despite her drawbacks at times thanks to her stature and lack of magic will give it her all till she succeeds. A gentle leader of her herd, the mare has the wisdom to know when to take charge and when to simply aid with a gentle nudge in the right direction she takes this role very seriously despite having her rock, Cuauhcoatl beside her to help if ever needed. However, Ikinya often is faced with conflict from her head and her heart; and can often hold a lot of her own needs and desires in and secretive for the good of others - a bit self sacrificing in a way. Often she breaks down privately, but all in all her happiness knows no bounds and she is only mortal - after all.
She is the Alpha of Yectenehua, leading with wisdom and grace along side her lovemate Cuauhcoatl. The pair were the first Fullsize x Mini couple, and have long since grown a legacy together. While she has no biological children of her own, they have been blessed continuously by the spirits via adoption, surrogacy, and the wishing star. She is the little mother, has been the primary caregiver to most of her children until they became of age, always having time for any of her 20 children.
Despite being the size of a large Clydesdale and being brightly colored, Cuauhcoatl is soft spoken and modest individual with a stutter that gets worse when nervous -- which tends to lead to him to stuttering when on certain subjects or meeting new people. He's an extremely gentle personality, and feels what is on the inside is what matters, not the outside.
Cuauhcoatl is an Angeni of Learning. Literally: He has command over the domain of "Learning". However, he has a relatively poor memory about a lot of things, and tends to have to hunt around for them in his head before he can remember them, often times having to relearn it several times before it finally sticking. Because of this, he does not believe in judging the sins of the parents on the heads off their children, and will judge most breeds (excluding skinwalkers), crossbreeds and mutants, no matter what their appearance, by their own behavior.
Over the years and with the development of Yectenehua starting to gather attention, his presence no longer hidden away in the valley's of the northern mountains attracting individuals who wish to expand their knowledge base, and plenty of foals in Yectenehua itself, he has taken up both role of protector of Yectenehua, but teacher to those who are willing to learn. However he still has the habit of leaving Mecho Amachi or his son Darius in charge of protecting the herd when he ventures off for his research on Generational change, Mutations, The Spirit "Blessed" breedings, and how they might effect the creation of breeds.
Sapphire is the only daughter of Airlia, who was born of Nimue and Reaper; fallen Angeni. Unfortunately for the little ball of starshine, her grandmother's mental illness has passed on to her and she has been unstable and simple her entire life. Most of their family seems to be effected in one way or another, but Sapphire was the first to try and fix it after realizing the strain it put on her parents. It landed her in a captive type situation with a bad stallion, where she wasted away mentally...finally found by Ikinya and Cuauhcoatl. It had been nearly three years since she was kidnapped as her family feared her dead, but the strange pair brought her home and nursed her back to health. She repaid their kindness by acting as a surrogate for them, for the only stallion she ever loved was 'lost' when she became a captive; leaving them with three little bundles of joy before being reunited with her family. She will visit from time to time, and give them the opportunities to come visit the other side of the family, but the foals will be spending most of their time under the loving care of Ikinya and Cuauhcoatl - just how Sapphire wants it to be for the love they showed her.
Otherwise, Sapphire is a very happy go-lucky mare, the optimist, and the loving. She used to always speak in third person, but thanks to her time in Yectenehua she has began to talk normally. There is a darkness in her family, stemming back generations, yet she seems to be unaffected; one which happens to plague others in her bloodline.
*The Darkness: While there is a very prominent darkness about Sapphire's lineage, including such things as mental illness, dark personality disorders, bloodshed & need, the "Curse" as its been called through generations; these disorders are very, very unlikely to make it into these kids. While they may or may not have omnivorous behaviors thanks to their mother's side; any other dependence on blood is too diluted to be passed on. (Only Airlia, Sapphire's mother inherited Reaper's eternally bleeding gene, and thus requires it.) While shades of grey are alright, we would like to discourage any really dark character designs; Cuauhcoatl and the herdlands are protected with his angeni powers as well as a better understanding as most mental illness, mistaken for a curse by others, would be identified and herbal remedies made to act as medicines to help control it. Please feel free to run by any ideas past myself and Mind if you have any questions.
♣Basketmates♣
Played by: Tirokio Name: Azurite Biosex: Male Gender: ??? Orientation: Currently Unknown
About: As he grows up, Azure will become a very strong willed yet kind stallion, with a focus in the research of mental illness, "curses" and the likes. Similar to his brother, his hobby has brought him closer to his roots; from the occasional visit to his bio mother's family he's taken it to heart to dig up all he can to possibly help cure what would be their great grandmother. He too is omnivorous like his brother but has no other interest in it other than for supplement of his needs.
Played by: Mindsend Name: Johari Kuhani (Swahili: Jewel Priest) Biosex: Male Gender: Cisgendered (aka: Identifies as his biological sex of Male) Orientation: Currently Unknown
About: Growing up, Johari will be fascinated with Magic, Ghosts, fortune telling, the spiritual realm, and death as part of the cycle of life and spirituality. Thirsty for more knowledge on it, he will eventually become a Shaman and researcher of the magic of various herds.
~~~♠ Is Omnivorous and will be learning to hunt and how to identify non-spirit touched animals TO hunt from his older siblings, father, and other omnivorous/carnivorous herd members. ~~~♠ Despite being a hunter, will never be able to bring himself to doing live sacrifices except in truly dire situations: Killing something for magic or to give to the spirits seems disrespectful to the spirit of the living animal and wasteful in comparison to giving part of his meal to the spirits/for magic. The only time he'd be willing to do so is in a life or death situation to attempt to feed the life energy of the Non-Spirit touched sacrifice directly into them to help them hold on long enough for help to arrive. ~~~♠ Was originally just named Johari (or Jewel) but he requested as he aged to get the full name of Johari Kuhani (Jewel Priest), to represent him better.
♣Siblings and Niblings♣ Nibling: Gender neutral term of Nieces and Nephews
Siblings Range from Clydesdale Sized Angeni to Tiny Usdia, Mers to Seathi, Soquili to Familiars. Niblings tend to be predominantly Usdia and Usdia Subbreeds.
Notes • Ekundayo was taken away by her biological mother as a basket so doesn't know anyone in her father's side of the family. • Subira and Zyanya were from the same biological mother as Ekundayo - Their surrogate mother had second thoughts after Darius was adopted and Kaliska sought sanctuary in the herd, spooked by the presence of meat eating soquili, and attempted to steal them away without alerting Ikinya and Cuauhcoatl. If she had not panicked she would have been able to raise them along side Cuauhcoatl and Ikinya. • Adom, Darius, Cuetzpaltotl, April Showers, Dove, Tomo, Zira and Kikir were adopted from other parents -- Either by being abandoned, fleeing an abusive family, disowned, or orphaned. • Teo'xihuitl, Nenetl, Jahzara, Quiyahuatl, Quiauhtzal, and Panya were baskets moved into cuauhcoatl and Ikinya's path and touched by the Wishing Star's spirit to look related to them. Whether they were orphaned, abandoned, or created from scratch by the spirit is unknown. • Bohlale seems to be a spirit child, but cant remember anything from his childhood and found them as an adult and actively searched for them.
~Boy you are Trying for~
Prompts:
Quote:
Prompt 1: Often days are filled with lessons, chores, play, and family time; considering the amount of siblings and herd mates there is always plenty to do. As you and your siblings begin to grow into your independence and figure out your calling in life you are left with choices. Your two brothers have taken a field of research of their own, following in the hoof prints of your father, the Angeni of Knowledge. What are your interests, hobbies, curiosities? Do you also wish to follow the path of knowledge, or perhaps do you follow in a more simple role? There are plenty of professions in Yectenehua, from the leader and caretaker your mother is to entertainers, hunter gatherer's, and the sorts. Everyone has a dream!
Quote:
Prompt 2: Unlike the darker colors of your siblings, your pelt is white as snow. This, you have later found out comes from previous generations of your biomother's family, a rather prominent gene. To give you and your brothers some one on one time with each parental figure, Sapphire has come to take you back to her family's homelands for the first time; as she had done with one of your brothers prior. Knowing about the darkness of the family, are you scared to go? Curious to see the origin of your striking white pelt, or are you really excited? How do you feel about your Biomother, especially being a bit of an absent figure in your life; leaving nearly most of the raising and care in the capable hooves of Ikinya and Cuauhcoatl? Sapphire tries to be present when she can, but still struggling with her own problems she is unable to truly care for your or your brothers for any extended time without plenty of help. While it has always been explained that you were a precious gift to Cuauh and Ikinya, and that your sisters Subira and Zyanya were conceived in similar means; their mother is no longer part of the picture as Sapphire is. Or, do you wish you didn't have to go at all?
Quote:
Prompt 3: As a young adult your family takes a venture to a location to study the local culture, and decide to take a bit of a stretch and explore a little on your own after having been in the same location for about a month. Meeting one of the locals, you strike up a conversation with them and make good friends with them right off the bat. After a few days of spending time with this pony you get curious and, using the fact you look different from the rest of your family, you ask them if they've heard about the Angeni of Learning and his family visiting the area. Unfortunately, it seems your new friend isn't too fond of your parent's relationship being as it is due to it being 'unnatural', or perhaps simply not understanding it. How do you react? Do you attempt to educate them and perhaps try to introduce them to your family? Do you laugh it off to keep the friendship, pretending to be unrelated to them? Do you react in anger and break the friendship immediately? Write out the scenario and how your boy reacts.
Played by: Ebonrune Name: Ichtaca (Nahuatl unisex name meaning Secret) Biosex: Male Gender (optional): Male Orientation (optional): Currently Unknown RP examples (optional): Copper Clouds Feathers and Fools About: Like Johari, Ichtaca is fascinated with magic, ghosts and the spiritual realm and seeks to learn of it, though he likely never becomes more than an apprentice in the arts at best. He's an omnivore like his siblings and is willing to hunt for his food, saying a prayer of well wishing for the soul of the animal once it's slain.
Prompt Picked: 1
Prompt Response
Ichtaca has always been aware of his physical differences, and there was a time he wished he looked like his brothers, though that was a phase he had since outgrown. Instead he tried to embrace his differences and try to fling his interests from his siblings, be truly unique in of himself. Frankly, it didn't work. He was interested instead in the spiritual world and all that seemed to come with it. He wished he could be a shaman like Johari was, but found his dedication to fully pursue the path was lacking. Perhaps it was because he still wished to be unique, or because he didn't want to be the pest brother who seemed to want to follow his sibling for less pure reasons than knowledge, but either way his hooves simply wouldn't take him that path and he didn't know if they ever would.
Hunting wasn't a problem for him, for it allowed him to be out among the spirits he was certain were all around him, be they of nature or housed within a living shape, there they were. Since he lacked Johari's dedication, he instead turned what he did know to simply showing respect for the animals he hunted. This he found was to be mostly satisfying, and so he would choose for himself to be a hunter for those of the herd that ate meat. In this he could embrace the uniqueness he still seemed to crave, be of use to his herd and satisfy his interests all at once.
Played by: AstoriaFallen Name: Sappheiros meaning "Sapphire" Biosex: Male Gender (optional): Male Orientation (optional): Asexual or Pansexual most likely. RP examples (optional): You remind me November ORP - Cold Soul Searching Greetings Picking Flowers Solo - When you wish upon a star About: Sappheiros, nicknamed Heiro, will be a herbivore, much unlike his brothers but will still help them when it comes to hunting when they need to feed those particular urges. He will likely seek to be a Protector of Herd when he is younger but realize that he has a fondness for learning as much as he can and want to be a Teacher instead.
As a foal he will be quite carefree but as he gets older and starts to understand things more he won't be as carefree and start to ask questions about everything. Not because he questions them, but because he wants to know more.
Overall he's going to be kind, but there is something within him that is searching for something, always searching and he doesn't exactly know what that is just yet. And he may never know why there is something missing.
Prompt Picked: 2
Prompt Response
Heiro had been well aware that he looked different from his parents and his siblings but he really hadn't paid it too much mind. As the three of them grew older they learned more about their biological mother's family and it was brought to their attention the nature of his coloring. This was the first time Heiro ever paid any mind to the fact he was colored differently and why that was. He had watched Sapphire come once before not too long ago and take away one of his brothers and bring him back not too long after and now it was his turn.
There were so many things he was thinking about right now. He wondered why their biological mother didn't stay around for longer, though he supposed he could understand a little bit. He loved his mother and father greatly and cherished the time he spent with Sapphire, even if it was fleeting. If he had to think about it, he was happy with the arrangement. He was well aware of their sisters circumstances and that the mother of them wasn't in the picture at all. Which he found curious but didn't question. For the three of them were well taken care of, loved and had so much to learn from the herd they called home and the homeland their mother resided. He was still far to young to understand the condition that surrounded their mother but he wanted to know more about it, and learn more about his lineage. Mainly the snowy pelt he was born with.
He wanted to learn everything he could, this much was certain. He wanted to know about his mothers side of the family and perhaps find out more about their mother's "curse". By going to where his mother lived he'd be able to get a bigger image of the whole picture that surrounded his family and perhaps a better understanding of everything. He was still young and had much to learn and he wanted to know as much as he could from whomever he could.
His azure gaze reflected back at him as he stared into the still waters and he looked at the paleness of his pelt and frowned. From what he understood only a few certain members of the family on his mothers side had white pelts. He wondered if this was a good thing or a bad thing. He shook his head then and looked up towards the sky and took in a deep breath and let it out slowly, his wings relaxing against his back. He decided then that it wouldn't matter the circumstances. He was happy to be able to see Sapphire though and meet the rest of his extended family. He was aware that his brothers omnivorous behavior came from that side of the family and he wondered how they would view him since he didn't partake in that particular habit. He had no problems helping with finding animals for them, but it wasn't something he needed to do himself.
He sighed once more and turned away from the water and began to head back to where they resided and decided that overall he was curious about the adventure he was about to take with Sapphire. Once he had that thought in his head a million questions started to form and he realized then that he wanted to do this and he was going to learn a great deal. He figured he'd talk to his brother and find out from him what he had learned from his visit and that would perhaps put the rest of his nervousness at ease.
Played by: Infinities Name: Chimaltizatl Biosex: Male Gender: Male Orientation: TBD RP examples: About:
Chimaltizatl was selected as his name because it brings in multiple aspects of this stallion's parentage. It is an Aztec word, which I hope meets the requirements, which was used for Gypsum. Gypsum is a mineral/gemstone (for his mother) with multiple uses, including making plaster, chalk, and alabaster is a form of Gypsum, bringing in reference to his color. Chimaltizatl will be an omnivore like his brothers, who chooses to live as a 'vegetarian' as much as possible. Chimaltizatl has great respect for his parents making their physical differences work, and his heart will long for such a love when he is ready. Ikinya is his mother, no matter his biology, and he is very grateful to Sapphire for giving him the chance to be raised in such a large, loving family. He has a lively personality and a gentle soul, but healing was not the way for him. His mind longs for adventure; though not to leave, just to learn more about the world around him. A bit of a troublemaker and adventurer as a child, he collects stories and knows quite a few nooks and crannies in the Yectenehua lands. No adventure will take him from home for long, however, even if he leaves home from time to time because his heart lies firmly in one place- family.
Prompt Picked: 2
Prompt Response
Huffing, Chimaltizatl paced, his mind twisting and turning. The offer- or expectation, but he did tend to take 'offers' better- had been placed before him to go with his biological mother away from Yectenehua and to visit another side of his family. It should have been an easy decision for him to say yes and express his overwhelming excitement, but how could it be? The offer to go with Sapphire offered him so much that he wanted; Yet he had so many others who would be impacted by how he chose to react to it. Therefore he had to consider carefully, and couldn't cave in to his hasty, instinctive reaction of exuberance. What if they (they, they, his mother and father, they!) thought he somehow loved them less because when faced with this choice... Surely they knew, but...
A legitimate, approved adventure. No sneaking, no running off. A chance to see a new place, to possibly meet new people? It was so much that he desired in his life! The opportunity to see new places, the ability to answer so many questions about who some part of him was. Had this longing come from Sapphire's blood flowing in his veins, was there more that he had yet to discover? Was he like her family in more than just his pelt color? Would he have the chance to know them? To talk to them and get to know them? To collect new stories to share with his family, to tell his shorter-legged or wingless siblings, niblings, and... his mother, Ikinya. The thought of enjoying and being able to share such an adventure! To answer the questions that sometimes plagued him.
Even more than that, this adventure would be a chance to get to know the mare who had borne him and then given him away. It was a move that struck him in its open-heartedness. It had hurt him, as a younger foal, to think himself unwanted, once he realized some of the details of his family circumstances. But... wasn't it greater love and kindness of spirit to give to those who could not? Both love towards he and his brothers, and towards his parents. There were depths to this simple act that were more and more obvious as they were further searched. For her generous spirit alone, Sapphire deserved to be more than just a stranger who had given him life. She deserved him to remain as open-minded and open-hearted as she must have been to have given life to Ikinya and Cuauhcoatl's children.
There was no reason not to be eager about the trip, though cautious. Still, he had to know- he had to know that he had his mother's blessing before he went. That, for him, was the most important. To know that no matter how far he roamed, or who with, or what he learned, his mother would be there on his return with her eyes and heart full of love for her son.
While being raised, he realized that the world around him can be a dark and dangerous place, and that frightened him to the point that he decided the only way to live would be by the sword. He looked around for someone to train him in such a way, even going so far as to asking his father for aid. He is polite to those around him, treating everyone with respect. He is almost always asking people if they need his assistance, or if they would like him to go and fetch someone for them that could help better. He wants to ensure that everyone is safe and happy in the herd. He is somewhat headstrong, even going so far as to pushing himself to the point of breaking in terms of training. He wants nothing more than to ensure his family’s safety against anything that could pose a possible threat. Though he still tries ot keep an open mind, considering their herd's culture. He knows that he has to accept those around him, even if he doesn't feel like he can as quickly as his parents do or other of the herd. [ Note: Finding a Trainer can be part of his main plot points/RP moments ] xxxxx He enjoys long walks on the beach, drinking from cool streams, and listening to stories. xxxxx Being the son of the Angeni of Learning gave him the thrill to learn all he could about whatever interests him; meaning he could find a flower fascinating, and want to know everything about it. xxxxx He accepts everyone around him for who they are; little or big. He believes that love is love, and should not be judged based on gender, size, or species. A Kalona can be a gentle soul, and an Usdia could be someone bent on destroying their happiness. xxxxx Traveling with the family was fun; far too much fun, honestly. It was something that Mwanga had enjoyed most growing up. Though now, now that he was a little more grown, it made him anxious. He knew that people could be dangerous; knew that they could hurt those he cared about. And despite all that, he went with his mother and father and brothers, and wandered out to explore someplace local that had a slightly different culture than their own herdlands. xxxxx It was there that he had met another stallion, roughly his own age. At first, he took everything with a grain of salt, and he dared the other stallion to try and get close. But after talking to him, and learning his life story, Mwanga accepted him a little more. He learned to trust, and had fun with him, exploring the area and learning about how his family was raised. He figured out just what it meant for them to live out here. xxxxx As they talked and talked, they became friends. Mwanga enjoyed the company of Dante more than he thought he would. And he wandered and ventured around with him. It was then that he observed something quite odd. All of the pairings were male and female, and all of them were between similar size Soquili. None were like his mother and father; and when he asked a different local about it, they seemed to sneer and turn their nose away. Confused, Mwanga approached Dante and asked him if he’d heard of his herd, and the Angeni and Usdia that ran it. xxxxx Dante pursed his lips, frowning. “Well uh… Yea. I have. It’s a little weird. I mean… they can’t even… you know? I don’t really understand or like their methods. It’s just weird… So weird.” xxxxx Mwanga frowned at that, his eyebrows pulling together as he stared at the other stallion. He’d never heard of it like that before. He’d never thought that what his parents had together was weird. They were in love, they were close and best friends and great parents. Why in the world would someone think of them as weird? They were a family. He wanted to snarl, to stomp his hoof and snap that Dante just needed to be quiet and stop thinking of his family as weird! xxxxx “I see… I must go. Sorry.” xxxxx Always the gentleman.
xxxxx Mwanga didn’t know what he was going to do. He liked Dante, he did. Dante was usually very sweet, and nice. He was so open. But this subject seemed to be a tough spot for the entire area they were visiting. He approached his parents with the problem, confusion in his eyes. He didn’t like the thought of upsetting his mother or father, but he had to understand. He had to know what they thought, and know how he should handle the situation with his friend. So, he asked to speak to his parents, and once they were someplace a little quieter, away from his brothers, he asked what to do. xxxxx They listened quietly, with open minds. And after hearing the dilemma, explained to Mwanga that not all people were open to their kind of family. That not everyone would be accepting of it, and they would be met with sneers and hate. But, they had to be strong. No matter what anyone thought about their relationship or their family, they were happy, and that was all that would matter. Mwanga didn’t understand how they could brush it off so easily. But he accepted their thoughts, and moved on to his own. xxxxx Mwanga moved back to where Dante was, knowing he would need to talk to him about it. He expressed his concerns. He stated that his family was how they were, how they were always going to be. That his mother was an Usdia, and his father an Angeni, and it didn’t matter that they were never going to have children of their own, or that they were going to be seen with uncertainty and discrimination. They were a family, and if Dante couldn’t accept that, then Mwanga couldn’t be friends with him. Because blood always came before water, and his parents, siblings, adopted siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles, everyone. They were his family. And no one could tear them apart. xxxxx Dante was quiet during this moment, and once he thought for a minute, he decided that he could try and accept it. If it meant learning a little more, and finding out just what happiness could be like with such a family, he agreed. Mwanga was happy that he was wiling to, at the very least, try and have an open mind. He took his friend to the place where his family was staying in the area. He happily introduced Dante to his family, and settled to ensure that Dante didn’t become a threat to his unusual and happy family.
He doesn't share the omnivore traits his brothers have, and he finds this fascinating. He's particularly fascinated by the "darkness" that apparently curses his biological mother's side. He feels he is somewhat afflicted by this darkness, not in any evil sort of way, but he has a hard time feeling the sort of happiness and joy his adoptive mother feels. He is introspective and retreats into himself often, feeling disconnected from the world. He has a hard time truly connecting with others, though he desperately desires exactly that. He sometimes worries that perhaps he is broken, that maybe something is wrong with him.
He is a gentle soul, and while he isn't the most talkative fellow he is generally kind and willing to help anyone who needs it. He can't walk past someone struggling with something without stopping to help. He doesn't think about it or even think himself particularly generous, though others might disagree. Sometimes he is sarcastic when someone gets him to be more talkative, though never in a cruel or unkind way. He's highly intelligent and uses humor to express his disassociation with life and those around him. He's a guarded individual, never wanting anyone to see his inner emotions - or lack thereof. He often feels numb or far away, out of touch with his feelings. (He suffers from depression but doesn't quite grasp that as yet)
Prompt Picked: Prompt 2
Angelsite had spent weeks preparing for this journey. He had devoured any snippet of information regarding this side of his family he could get his hooves on, memorized every story brought to the herd from outsiders. He still felt woefully under-informed, but was abuzz with excitement nonetheless. Not that he showed that excitement on the outside, no. He was far too guarded for that. Still, he felt the thrill of the unknown coursing through him like electricity.
He didn't particularly care about the familial aspect of it all. He didn't wish to seek out any sort of relationship with these relations; his adoptive mother and family were more than enough for him. He WAS, however, very interested in seeing what traits were passed on genetically and where his and his brothers' traits might have come from. He had a particular desire to examine and study those in the line that had been "cursed" to see what sorts of afflictions they had and to what degree they passed on through the generations. Yes, he was quite thrilled for the opportunity.
He glanced at his biological mother Sapphire as they made their preparations and felt a small twinge of doubt hovering beneath the surface. It struck him suddenly and profoundly that he did not know this mare, not truly and yet fully half of his genetics came form her. There was a sadness he did not realize he had drifting through him like a cold breeze, causing him to shudder slightly. He knew there should be something between them, some connection, yet she had played so little role in his life he saw her more of a subject to be studied than anything else. Was this trip an opportunity to change that? Did he want that?
No. He didn't consciously think the word but there it was rising to the forefront of his mind unbidden, a feeling more than a word. Nothing positive could come from trying to make Sapphire into anything more than she is - for either of them. He was firm in this knowledge and it steadied him. He turned from her to finish his preparations for the journey, his excitement tempered by doubts and nerves, but no less compelling than before. He would meet these biological family members, he would study them, and then he would come home to his real family.
Given this he also is overly sensitive to others’ behavior. He is likely to sense if something is wrong with someone. In his own way he finds other soquili the most interesting, and curious to learn more about them. Why they do what they do. I could see him being very “Pavlov” as a foal. Since he is usually observing, one would assume that he is quiet though that far be the case. Once you ask about one of his interests, he gets excitable and the passion within comes out. He comes off as distant, but is very touchey/feely with those he is close too. Like his brothers he will be omnivorous, though meat won’t be an integral part of his diet.
The day had started off wonderfully, at least to Zuberi it had. The sun was bright, the air was warm, and the sky was clear. Travelling always seemed to lift the young stallion’s spirits though after a while all he wanted was home. Today was not one of those days, so with a smile he decided to explore on his own. He had been there long enough to not get lost, and not long after his walk he had come across another about his age. The other introduced himself as “Leilan” and Zuberi did as well. After light conversation, the pair seemed to have hit it off. It wasn’t until Zuberi’s family was brought up that it took a twisted turn.
Leilan looked at Zuberi with a judgement that he wasn’t used to. “I don’t mean to be blunt, but why is it you are so different from your family?” Zuberi tried not to look shocked, but the question seemed to have come out of left field for him. “Well,” he hesitated. “You know of my father, and our family visiting the area?” Leilan nodded, “Yeah, that’s what I don’t get…is why he’s with the usdia. That’s not natural.” Normally, Zuberi was a well composed individual but he could start to feel his heart start to race faster. His cheeks growing warm, and an intensity building in his eyes. “She’s my mother,” he cut him off before he could say anything else. “I have a biological mother, my mother and my father,” his tone dangerously protective. He took a breath, “It can be confusing to someone who is an outside, I would suppose.” Leilan snorted, “It’s not so much confusing, as it is just wrong.” The last words of the stallion seemed to pierce his chest. The other stallion continued, “I mean, look at it this way, your mother and father aren’t meant to be biologically speaking.”
Zuberi shook his head, “That’s true, however you don’t get to choose who you fall in love with,” his tone was very ‘how are you not getting this’. “Just because it’s a bond that’s uncommon does not make it unnatural. I have an awesome family,” he admitted, his tone softening. “They love me, I love them and this is just how we are. And it works,” he took a deep breath. “And I don’t want that to become a wedge, since you seem nice. Perhaps an inside perspective would help you see?” The other stallion seemed a bit weary, “Okay,” he responded. Zuberi smiled, though his anxiety seemed to be getting higher. Leilan was rather blunt, Zuberi was hoping for the best though. The topic was dropped and they moved on to a lighter subject, Zuberi talking about his family and what they were like as they walked back towards where he had left them.
Please feel free to look these up, I'm currently only on a tablet until the computer I ordered online on a Black Friday deal arrives and I'm pretty much due to leave town to spend the week with family right after it arrives. I do have some rps that I love but because I've been without a computer for almost two years I haven't rped much in that time. Now that I know I'll have a keyboard again, I'm looking forward to hopping back into rp with both feet.
About: Ekundayo is called Dayo for short (Dayo is a name meaning joy on it's own). Dayo concentrates on the now, on joy and love, giving it in full abundance. He loves everyone and tells them often, trying to explain the amazing things he sees in them so they can love themselves. This isn't sexual. Unless someone is fairly blunt about their intrest, he likely will never notice, just accepting that they love each other as all beings should. He isn't nive, he just doesn't get caught up in the physical aspects of it all. To him the greatest joy comes from true acceptance and love. He does his best to see people as they are and accept them for the wonderful and unique individual they are. He doesn't think anything formal about it, he isn't trying to remove curses or heal mental wounds. He just wants to share the joy of life. Ekundayo is a bit flighty. Not because he doesn't care, but because everything interests him. And he will happily take anyone along for the ride as he revels in life. He doesn't really thing about omnivore or herbavore, he just is, taking life as it comes. He can eat meat, he doesn't avoid it, but he doesn't let it define him. Dayo lives very much in the now, having figured out that dwelling on the past or worrying about the future weighs the soul and restrains the mind. To really know joy, you have to accept all of who you are, then be willing to put it all aside and just be.
Prompt Picked: Prompt 1
Ekundayo bounds towards the day's lesson. What would they be learning today? Tracking had been fun, even if it lead to hunting. Hunting wasn't bad, it was just so serious and came with all these moral questions. Learning with father was nice too. He was always patent. Though not always interesting. Following little mother around learning how to organize things . . . Well, not really fun or interesting, except when she just cared and love on folks. That was something amazing to watch and learn. She just loved, though she sometimes loved from behind a tough little wall. And biomom . . . Well, she was great when she visited, she had all these shadows in her past, but she worked past them and loved everyone to.
Gathering with his brothers, Ekundayo listens as they declair what they want to do with their lives, the things they want to study. It seemed nice. And they both had so much passion about what they wanted to do. It wasn't until the expecting silence got long that Dayo quit grinning proudly at them and realized they were waiting for something.
"Oh, me. Well, I don't know. That sounds like it will be great fun and all, but I'm not really wanting to study with eather of you. I mean, I'd be happy to listen to what you're learning cause I love you and I'm interested in you being happy and stuff, but that's not really my thing."
With a shrug and another grin he leaves it at that. Of course no one pushed, that wasn't the way of his family. But over the weeks he couldn't help but notice how the conversations went. His brothers talked about their passions, what they were learning. And then they waited to hear from him. At first his explanations of the way a beatle's wings folded up and the buzzing sound the made, or his stories about the strange mtal thing he had found, or even his discourse on the shapes of the coulds was met with interest. But it quickly became apparent he wasn't studying anything in particular, or really even anything useful. He just wandered where he wanted and studied whatever caught his facination that day.
Ekundayo knew that it was expected he would find his place, the thing he wanted to do. But there wasn't any one thing he wanted to do. Aside from just be there with his family. He happily joined in whenever anyone needed something, often before they asked, just seeing a need for an extra hoof and sliding in to give it without a word or expectation. He spent half his day just wandering around checking in on his family, and all the herd was family, even if they were only visiting. Sometimes he just glanced at someone with a smile, seeing they were content with what they were doing. Other times he stopped to chat, to ask about what was bothering them. And other times he just brought whatever he knew they needed, from a flower to brighten their day (or meal) to the wood they were likely to have to stop and gather, to a tidbit of gleened knowledge.
Mostly he just made sure they knew they were loved. Dayo could often be followed by listening to him as he wandered about. Things like, 'tell the spirits hi for me Johari' or 'smiles are great medicine, Tirokio, I feel better already' or 'love you father' or 'awesome job little mother', or 'looking good Subira', or 'have an awesome day Teo'xihuitl'. And is was never a doubt that he was being sincere, he just exudes joy and love. And while he might get a little giggle at surprising someone occasionally, he's always careful that he doesn't startle someone doing something dangerous or delicate. Mostly he just hopes to bring a smile to their faces.
Of course, that hovering wonder about what he planned to do with his life never quite went away. It didn't bother him except that he knew they worried for him. Finally he took himself away one day, just wandering out alone to think.
Laying down in some tall grass he idlly munched as he thought. What did he want to do? How much mattered, really mattered, and how much was just expectation? And could he do what he wanted here?
That last was easily answered. Dayo belonged here, with his family. And he never doubted that they loved and accepted him and would no matter what he decided. So . . . What did he want to do?
It took all of that day and well into the night for him to puzzle together that answer. Which was surprising given that he really just wanted to do what he had been doing. He didn't need a special job or skill or calling. He just needed his family. And he needed to know he could help them. With whatever they needed, a strong back or a shoulder to cry on. He needed to love them for who they are and make sure they each knew how important and special they were.
When he got up to go home, re realized he had been hearing his family for a while without really hearing them. Stopping to listen, he could hear them call his name. They sounded worried?! That's when he noticed how high the moon was. He had been thinking a long time. Taking a deep breath, he calls out as loud as he can, "I am Ekundayo and I love you all too!" With a giggle he bounds towards home to tell his family who he wants to be.
Played by: Of The Epidemic Name: Theluji Lulu (Snow Pearl) Biosex: Male Gender (optional): Gender Fluid Orientation (optional): Undecided RP examples (optional):[X] | [X] About:
Lulu, as a foal, is shy, soft spoken, and calm. His voice is like the soft treble of rain against leaves. Sharp eyes show a clear intellect, but he shows a lack of assertiveness. His admiration for his siblings is only dwarfed by that for his father and mother. He has an understandable aversion to confrontation and, at times, comes across as almost skittish. Unlike his siblings he can’t stand meat, not that he’d ever judge someone that does eat it, but it made him sick when he tried.
The start of his life is a happy one; he’s of course raised well, but he wonders at just what his path with be in life. Both his brothers seem to know from quite the young age what it is exactly that they want. He won’t find his true calling until much later, but wanting to make himself useful he spends his time at his mother’s side, learning the politics of life and generally being a dignitary of sorts. While he has an interest in mental disorders, it’s not his calling, and unfortunately neither is being a politician.
As he grows, Lulu learns to come out of his shell, especially when it’s in the interest of helping others. He’s at his best when he is counseling someone else. It’s this that gives him a peek at what his true calling is. As a young stallion, he finds another young stallion who won’t speak; he’s terrified, and refuses to sleep. Nothing appears to be physically wrong with him, and while they can’t be sure, mentally he seems fine enough. No violent outbursts, no talking to himself, just this unending vow of silence.
Lulu spends endless hours, days, months with this male. Working with him, he takes the stallion under his wing and makes it his personal duty to help. He’s the first to get the stallion to talk, a deeply rewarding achievement that makes the long hours, sweat and tears well beyond worth it. Lulu has never felt so fulfilled, so right, so complete. With time, he eventually leads the stallion out of the darkness that had consumed him and back to the light. It is discovered the trauma the young stallion faced that turned him towards the path he’d taken.
Lulu has never been so alive, and the drive he once saw in his brother’s eyes now shines in his. He seeks to be that rock for those that are suffering, the first line of defense against the evils they thought they had to face alone. He’ll devote his life to helping those that have seen the darkest parts of the world survive it. It won’t stop there though, he wishes to learn what causes these tragedies. Why does hate even exist, why do good people do bad things. When they exit their basket a foal is good, untouched, so it must be that they are raised to be this way. He refuses to believe anyone is born evil, barring walkers of course.
Lulu finds his role, finds his path and it sets a fire in his soul. While he will always be a soft spoken, gentle, faithfully compassionate and understanding individual, the one meek exterior is replaced by someone who has purpose. While he’ll always abhor violence, he will no longer shy away from a struggle or tough situation. His need to protect those he takes under his wing is strong, and deep.
Lulu shifted slightly, his hooves kicking up some dirt as he rested his head on his mother’s back, Ikinya. His brother had recently returned from his trip with their birth mother Sapphire. He had returned unharmed and with curious stories, but Lulu still wasn’t entirely sure he wanted to go. His feathers quivered under the warmth of the sun’s rays, a vast contrast to the chill he was feeling in his chest. It wasn’t that Lulu didn’t love his mother, quite the contrary actually; he loved Sapphire very much, even if she wasn’t around all that often. He still loved her dearly, she was his mother after all. She’d given him life, which was a precious gift.
The young colt was more worried about not having anyone to hide behind, or talk to, and a number of other things. He wasn’t an especially brave sort like his brother, nor was he overly adventurous. He didn’t much imagine Sapphire would let anyone be mean to him, but what if they were anyway? He’d heard about the mental disabilities that not only his mother suffered, but many of her family members. He’d be lying if he didn’t admit a part of him worried about it.
Still, he was luckier than his older sisters, who’d been conceived in much the same fashion as he and his basket mates. Their birth mother never visited, so they didn’t have the joy of having two mothers that loved them. Sometimes he worried about them not having two mothers; while he was aware it was normal, a part of him sort of felt secretly that it was normal. Though admittedly normal, he supposed, was relative.
The sound of hoofbeats brought him from his stupor, making his wings quiver a bit more, forcing him to tuck them close to his sides to keep it from showing. A small part of it was probably excitement, but a much larger part was nervous energy. The image of Sapphire slowly came into view, and once she was close enough he found his head perking up all on its own accord. Rubbing his face against his mother Ikinya, he pranced over to tuck under Sapphire’s legs, not even bothering to wait for the mare to come to a complete stop.
It was one of his favorite places. He’d done it often with Ikinya before he’d grown too big, and now he preferred to just drape across his tiny mommy, while hiding under his larger one. While the adults talked, Lulu lazed rather pleasantly between his three parents. There wasn’t anything quite like being snuggled between the three. He might have dozed off, because when he was woken next it was time to go. He tried very hard not to make it a teary goodbye, but he couldn’t help tucking under Ikinya’s head once more before setting off with his biomother.
The trip honestly wasn’t that eventful, and once they had breached the dense ring of forest what he found was something similar to his home… err.. his other home? Lulu shook his head watching the various members of the family, finding that this was, indeed, where he got his striking white pelt. There were so many white pelts floating around that, in a way, his mother Sapphire was actually the odd one out.
It caused a slight laugh to escape him. While he’d been expecting something much darker, what he found was something warm and inviting. His great grandmother Nimue was indeed afflicted with something, but he found her to be pleasing company. She never forced him to speak, content to sit with him in silence. He found many didn’t force him to talk when he’d rather stay silent. None were mean and all were quite happy to cuddle him if he wanted it. The fear that had coiled unwelcome in his chest eased and fluttered away, and by the end of the trip he was sad to go. Though he missed his parents, a part of him found this other family a place he loved to be as well.
Lulu hoped that he’d get to come and see them again soon, though he knew it was a bit of a strain on everyone and he still had another brother that needed the chance to meet his extended family. From then on, Lulu decided the trips to visit his birth mother’s family were a time of excitement, and he always got double the love when he got home. It was a win win sort of situation in the end.
Prompt Response
"Prompt 2: Unlike the darker colors of your siblings, your pelt is white as snow. This, you have later found out comes from previous generations of your biomother's family, a rather prominent gene. To give you and your brothers some one on one time with each parental figure, Sapphire has come to take you back to her family's homelands for the first time; as she had done with one of your brothers prior. Knowing about the darkness of the family, are you scared to go? Curious to see the origin of your striking white pelt, or are you really excited? How do you feel about your Biomother, especially being a bit of an absent figure in your life; leaving nearly most of the raising and care in the capable hooves of Ikinya and Cuauhcoatl? Sapphire tries to be present when she can, but still struggling with her own problems she is unable to truly care for your or your brothers for any extended time without plenty of help. While it has always been explained that you were a precious gift to Cuauh and Ikinya, and that your sisters Subira and Zyanya were conceived in similar means; their mother is no longer part of the picture as Sapphire is. Or, do you wish you didn't have to go at all?"
Dendritic loved his lighter colors of his pelt, but always felt as if an outcast in comparison to his siblings and Biomother. Today was the day his Biomother would come by to take him to the lands of her birth. Shuddering at the thought of the darkness that looms around the family. Fearing the darkness of the family would only create unnecessary paranoia of other things in the world around him.
Played by: ~Twilight...Angel~ Name: Nahuatl (meaning "four waters" in Aztec) Biosex: Male Gender (optional): Male Orientation (optional): Will love whomever and whatever suits his fancy
About: Nahuatl is like his siblings in many ways really, enjoying learning and taking in Knowledge about various things in the world. Or course this only seems natural considering one of the main influences in their lives is the Angeni of Knowledge himself. Though he enjoys learning about all things in the world, the one thing that draws his attention the most is anything to do with water. Fish and plants that live in the water are the most interesting things he has EVER seen! And this includes other Soquili that live in the water as well. Interviewing the members of the herd, just to simply learn how one can possibly LIVE under this liquid that seems so... deadly in a way, but beautiful in others! They even bring him various bits of coral and other things to inspect on his own. It brings him the most joy when he can discover something he deems as new! Even if it's something that Mers and Seathi end up seeing everyday, he just gets so exctied about it he can't contain himself! Beyond his love of the Ocean and anything to do with water, Nahuatl is an endless ball of energy and love. Always willing to go out of his way and stop his own doings to help those in need, or even his own siblings if they need it. There is no shortage to what he would do for another. Some may think that this is something to take advantage of, but no one should be so quick to judge. Though he has a willingness to help, he is not stupid by any stretch of the imagination. Never agreeing to do something that would take advantage of another, or bring harm. Even if that is not the intent that shows, he seems to have a bit of a sense with these things. It's strange at first, but most who are around him get used to it. It also helps that no one he lives with within his family herd really feel the need to hurt each other either, so home life is simple and full of helping hooves! Though he is sweet and helpful, there can be times when he gets a bit... Huffy. This isn't something he does on purpose, but he can get irritated if too much is asked of him. Mostly if it is the same Soquili asking over and over. Even the sweet little darling he is can only take so much after all! Though no one will ever need to worry about him losing his temper. Being huffy simply means he might sulk a bit. Raising his voice is simply not in his nature. He is purely calm and tranquil, like the ocean itself. In terms of what he eats, he is an Omnivore. Though will often eat fish, since he feels like he has a connection with them. Always offering his own kind of prayer over anything he catches from the waters he has grown to love so completely.
Some Plot Ideas: The Oceans Song: This will be the first time Nahuatl discovers something about the waters where things live. He will end up beyond excited and have to show it to all of his siblings! And potentially his parents... And any other relative that lives anywhere near him... Easily excited is a word that describes him completely and utterly. This will set off his lifelong love with the Ocean and everything within it! Live & Love: Nahuatl wants to learn why everyone is so different. Why some of his brothers and sisters look so much different from others. It's such a mystery only for the fact that he's seen other families, ones who all are the same in appearence. He knows that it might be something hard to explain... But he wants to learn! Part of Your World: Getting to be part of the Ocean itself would be something BEYOND exciting to Nahuatl. He often pretends to be in the Ocean itself, even if he can't actually be a creature of the Sea itself, he enjoys swimming about and pretending. This has allowed him to make friends with lots of sea creatures who enjoy playing along with him in turn. This is all just one big play! Learning Something New: Though it's not something he is against by any means, Nahuatl is taking some time to learn new things about his siblings offers instead of his own. Learning and growing is an important part of who he is, even if it's not going to be something that he will continue to study. And besides, learning more about his siblings hobbies will allow him to spend more time with each of them! Which is very important when you are a part of a family unit. Beautiful!: Nahuatl has a crush. It's simple puppy love, but he can't get enough of this other! It's silly how much they have invaded his thoughts and feelings. Even his love of the Ocean can't seem to get these thoughts out of his head! This is something he will eventually overcome, but he gets a lifelong friend from the experience! Which is important in order to learn and expand even further! And, maybe one day, he will grow old enough to love.
Prompt Picked:Prompt 3: As a young adult your family takes a venture to a location to study the local culture, and decide to take a bit of a stretch and explore a little on your own after having been in the same location for about a month. Meeting one of the locals, you strike up a conversation with them and make good friends with them right off the bat. After a few days of spending time with this pony you get curious and, using the fact you look different from the rest of your family, you ask them if they've heard about the Angeni of Learning and his family visiting the area. Unfortunately, it seems your new friend isn't too fond of your parent's relationship being as it is due to it being 'unnatural', or perhaps simply not understanding it. How do you react? Do you attempt to educate them and perhaps try to introduce them to your family? Do you laugh it off to keep the friendship, pretending to be unrelated to them? Do you react in anger and break the friendship immediately? Write out the scenario and how your boy reacts. Prompt Response
This was not really something he had been expecting to come out of his new friend at all. Though he did, in fact, know that there were plenty of Soquili who did not approve of his parents or families way of life, he couldn't understand why that was. Not in the least bit. Nahuatl's face screwed up in a confused manner and decided it would be best to find out more information.
"Why should it be considered unnatural? They love each other. And our family has been made better for this love." His face screwed up again as he waited for his new friend to respond.
"One of your parents is big and the other is small. That's just not right."
Thinking on this response, he decided to try and explain this to make them understand. It was important that this new friend of his understood what made his family no different from their own. "You think it's strange simply because of the size difference. Which isn't very... astute of you, or your family. I'm sure that this is simply how you were raised, since such things would mold how you view the world itself." He crocked his head a bit, "But you should understand, though my parents can't have children of their own, they have many. They have been blessed many times and have helped others who are seen as different, needing a home of their own."
The other looked at Nahuatl with a bit of interest. Certainly what was going on in their head got their gears turning. Got them to start thinking about it all in another point of view. "So... You get love from your family? It's not some weird... thing. Like your mother isn't some weirdo? Or your father?"
This last comment made Nahuatl giggle a little bit. He had almost forgotten he was talking to another child until this remark had made it past their mouth. "Of COURSE it's nothing like that! They are just as nice as your parents. Or any of the rest of the relatives you might have! My family simply has those of all shapes and sizes. And isn't limited to certain breeds or colors, unlike your own where your family insists that anything that is not themselves is strange." He nodded to his friend, hoping that they would understand what they were trying to get through to them. "In all actuality, love is love, no matter who is doing the loving!" With this his smile and eyes widened with an even more brilliant thought, "You HAVE to come back with me! Come and meet my mother and father!" He wiggled with excitement, "My mother would LOVE to meet you! She might even get us some treats!" His eyes gleamed as his friend seemed to get excited about it as well.
With that, he and his friend hopped along to make their way to Nahuatl's parents. To head to show his new friend what true love and caring looks like!
About: Itzamatul takes a lot after his father in terms of personality. He is quiet and kind, and more than a little prone to shyness and anxiety. He gets very anxious in social situations involving people he isn't familiar with, and sometimes he gets so tongue-tied that he falls silent entirely. This wouldn't be much of a problem if he stayed with his home herd, however, Itzamatul's ambitions take him far afield.
Since foalhood, he's had a fascination with maps, geography, and the shape of the world. He stared at his father's globe and eventually begged a raccoon crafter to make him one of his own. The more he grew, the more he poured over maps. The more he poured over maps, the more he realized how incomplete many of them were. He was appalled by this, feeling that there could never be an accurate account of species and cultures if no one even know the shape of the place they lived in.
Itzamatul's calling to be a cartographer emerged from this realization. He feels that he can make a real difference by improving maps, even for seemingly small things like recording where streams are in a forest (the better to guide thirsty herds to drink!). He started with the area around the herd, but soon realized that he'd have to go further away from home if he wanted to have an impact.
Accompanying him on his journey is his friend, a raccoon skilled with pen and ink that can record their findings. Itzamatul flies around with his raccoon companion, improving maps and returning home as often as he's able to, so he can share his findings. Of course, since Itza can be a bundle of anxiety and doesn't do well with new people, this isn't an easy journey for him. He tends to have a high level of stress while out and about, and sometimes even falls into panic attacks when faced with large groups of strangers. He's ashamed of this and thinks poorly of himself for it, though the truth is that he is very brave to be constantly facing his fears in this way.
Though his major drive is cartography, he secretly is very romantic and as an adult will long for a partner of his own. Given his anxieties, he is pessimistic about his chances of being able to secure a partner even if he found someone he adores. When he falls in love, he's going to fall hard, even if the person doesn't love him back...
And of course, what his family and raccoon partner know is that the best way to get Itza to open up in a social situation is to get him excited and talking about maps and cartography!
Itzamatul hid, shaking, in the hollowed out shell of a dead tree. He didn't want to go! Sapphire, his birth mother, was due to arrive soon. As far as he knew, she might already be there, waiting to take him away on a journey to meet her family. He'd seen Johari go off on this same expedition and knew that his brother had come to no harm, but that didn't make it any easier.
Sniffling, he looked at the white fur covering one of his forelegs. He'd been told that he inherited his coloring from Sapphire's family. He hadn't thought about it much when he first found out, but now it took on a more sinister edge for the frightened foal.
He'd heard stories, mostly from people that hadn't known he was listening. He'd heard that Sapphire's family was cursed, and that some were even cruel. He'd woken up thrashing the night before, dreaming of being kidnapped by a monster and becoming one himself. He wasn't sure what scared him more, the idea of meeting a new family, or that he might somehow share in whatever haunted them. He gave his head a desperate shake. He wasn't going to go. That was the only solution. He was going to hide in his tree until Sapphire went away and he could go back to his real family.
"Itza?" He heard a call in the distance. Another call soon followed. He swallowed with trepidation. It was his parents. They'd come to take him away and let Sapphire kidnap him to a herd of strangers.
Their calls continued. The familiarity of their voices cut through his blind panic and his clouded mind began to clear. Even if he didn't know Sapphire's family, he did know Sapphire. She was kind to them, and Itza usually looked forward to her arrival. He looked at his white fur again, slowly reconsidering. If Sapphire was all right... maybe the rest of her family was too? He couldn't imagine any of his three parents sending him off somewhere that he might get hurt...
He took a deep breath and squeezed a last few frightened tears from his eyes. Slowly, he edged out of his hiding place. He still didn't want to go but knew that Sapphire wouldn't let any harm come to him. He slowly began to walk in the direction of the calling voices, forcing himself forward despite his anxiety.
He still was tense with anxiety but grew more accepting of the idea with every nervous thought. If Johari could do it and be all right, maybe he could too. With one last tremble, he walked in the direction of the calling voices. Maybe, just maybe, things were going to turn out all right.
