This is a PRP between these two soquili (Fatal Irony and Pandora Talie)

Pandora Talie

The colorful mare stood amidst the only thing she could possibly blend in with - a huge field of flowers. She marveled at the myriad display of colors and scents all around her. The plants reached to her knees and she felt thoroughly engulfed by their beauty. She breathed in happily, savoring the mixture of their different scents in the air. She closed her eyes, listening to the gentle breeze, the calls of the birds at the edge of the nearby woods, to the quiet humming of the bees as they flitted here and there between the blooms.

The sun was bright and almost too warm against her hide, but the breeze made up for it somewhat. She didn't mind being a littler overly warm. Not on a day like today, where the flowers were in full bloom and the world was so full of life! She could stand here all day, enjoying it for every moment.

Except she couldn't possibly stand still, of course. The energetic mare never wanted to be too still for too long. Her legs were already itching to go, she felt her muscles crying out for a race. More than she loved the colors, scents, and sounds of spring - she loved to run.

She was not a winged mare. She would never know the feel of the clouds or see the world as the birds do. She did not envy those that could, however, because she knew they could never run as she did or feel the wind rushing past as she did, or the ground pounding beneath her hooves like a pulse. They did not have that knowledge.

She grinned at the thought and like a shot was off, racing around in lazy circles around the field, disturbing its inhabitants. She laughed jubilantly as she went, tearing off one way and then the next. What could spoil such a lovely day? She raced off in one direction and then the next, zigzagging around the field until she'd started to become winded.

She slowed to a stop and looked around at the chaos she had wrought around her. There was pollen and bits of flower and grass lingering in the air from her passing, the bees and other insects had taken flight and were only just beginning to land once more and set about their work.

She laughed again, enjoying the mark she had left on the world. Someone would pass this spot, and know that she had lived.

She realized she was near the edge of the woods again and started to walk along its edge in the shadows, enjoying the respite from the glaring sun. There were more sounds to absorb here, many more animals that were active in the area. She peered through the leaves, trying to see what was lurking in the woods.

Fatal Irony

Shining through treetops, caressed by a light spring wind, the mid-day sun creates dancing patterns of light on the detritus making up the forest floor. A large brown stallion grazes on isolated patches of fresh green growth, breaking though the previous season's leavings. A distant sound attracts his attention.

Branches crunch underfoot, his coat of green leaves rustle as he trots towards the laughter. A small songbird flutters down from the tree tops and takes roost on one of his velvet antlers. “My word, someone is having a jolly time.” He speaks softly to his little friend who chirps back as if answering him. “Lets go see if we can find them.”

The Cerynei stallion steps out into the field, his eyes squint from the bright light. He takes a quick glance across the vast area but sees nothing of interest. A grey rabbit bounds out of the long grass to meet him. “Why hullo there, little one.” Nostalion tips his head down and nuzzles the creature on its head. The furry animal wiggles its nose and hops away then back indicating for Nostalion to follow.

Chasing the swift little rabbit, along the treeline, the stallion finds himself in the presence of a pink mare.

She was startled at the sudden appearance of a creature that seemed a living tree, looming up over here at the side of the forest. It took her a moment of blinking owlishly at him against the light before she realized he was a stallion and not some monster from the depths of the forest come to eat her. Feeling a bit abashed at her rude staring she flushed darkly and gave him a meek smile. "Where did YOU come from?"

She cocked her head at him curiously, unsure what he was exactly. She'd met a fair few different soquili types in her years and travels, and many who were eccentric in appearance. Yet she'd never once met a soquili such as the one that stood before her, deer-like with large antlers adorning his head. She tried not to stare impolitely, but she was intensely curious about things she didn't know and she wanted to know all about what new creature this was.

Perhaps she had lived in relative solitude too long, her mate traveling most of the time and her children all grown. She hadn't really gotten out much to socialize or discover new things, and she felt that perhaps she was missing out on a lot in her isolation.

"My name is Glitter, by the way. I don't mean to be rude. I just wasn't expecting company. Not that it's not welcome!" She flashed him a warm grin, still flushing slightly in embarrassment.

Fatal Irony

With an inquisitive expression and great amount of hesitation, the leafy stallion slowly circled around the pink mare. He had to make, at least, a cursory analysis of the stranger who has unexpectedly appeared in his domain.

“I am Nostalion.” The deer-like stallion plainly stated, hooves still idly pacing in the fresh, green, and slightly damp grass. “And, I am a member of the Cerynei breed of Soquili.” The stallion explains, at length, “My ancestors arose from the trees themselves, our antlers from the very branches above.” He ceases his circling canter and throws his head back.

“Glitter, eh?” He returns her smile, “You will have to excuse me for my caution. Although it may seem inhospitable of me and wholly undue for a gentle lady such as yourself, I have had… trouble, in the past with strangers.” His mind, momentarily, spirals down to a dark place, before snapping back to the beautiful day and friendly stranger.

Nostalion takes a deep bow and a proportionate breath, “I apologize if I have made you uncomfortable. You are obviously not my enemy and I wholeheartedly welcome you here, in my home, Glitter.”

She rose an eyebrow as he circled her, whipping her head around in order to keep watch on his peculiar movements. She shifted uncomfortably under the scrutiny, her heartbeat quickening as she wondered if he was intending to attack her... or worse. She relaxed as he settled before her once more, welcoming her to his home.

She considered his caution and couldn't quite disagree. She had nearly come to an untimely end due to her own lack of caution in approaching strangers, but she wouldn't dwell on that now. She still liked to think that most soquili were basically good, so she preferred to be trusting. Besides, her swift hooves could carry her away from any real trouble.

She snapped herself back to the present as she heard an unfamiliar word. "Cerynei?" She cocked her head to the side. "I don't know what a cerynei is, but if they all look as you do, then they are quite a lovely race." She wondered if all of them resembled trees or if they were various in their traits.

"I'm sorry for intruding on your home," she added as an afterthought. "I get distracted in my wanderings and sometimes don't pay attention to where I'm going." That, too, has gotten her into trouble at times. "I have to say you've picked an ideal spot to settle. The flowers, the trees, the beautiful sky! I can't believe how wonderful it is here!"

Fatal Irony

“Thank you,” Nostalion tries to suppress the rush of pride he experiences at her compliment. His kin are known for their grace.

He shakes his shaggy head and mane, “there is no need for you to apologize. It was I that acted uncouth, on account of my suspicious nature. You have every right to go where you will, in peace.”

Still looking at the mare, he inquires, “what breed are you then?” Now that his caution has waned, Nostalion looks at her with curiosity. Specifically, he admires her short, pink, spiral shaped horn.

He has never wandered very far from the Big Oak Grove and, although he has seen plenty of horns, in his time, never has he spotted a horn such as hers.

“My mate, Lihi, a Kirin, has a single, curved horn but quite different then yours”

As a young child, he had heard tales of a group of one horned Soquili with magic powers and begins to wonder if she belongs to that particular band. Fancy that, magic powers, he thinks.

Glitter was quite certain that she had never been asked such a question before in her life, and for a moment she was struck silent by it. She blinked a few times rapidly in succession, then regained her bearings. "I've never met a kirin and know very little about them. I, myself, am a Unicorn. At least, half of one. The pure ones I hear have feline-type tails. Can you imagine?" Her voice was full of laughter and wonder as she pictured what a pure unicorn might look like. "Still, being only half a unicorn I can heal fairly decently." Not as strongly as even a half-breed with a larger tail, she thought sadly, but she needn't share that with this stranger. "Are there any special powers or traits to cerynei?"

“The Kirin are an interesting sort,” Nostalion grins, closing his eyes, and picturing his mate, “They also possess the ability to heal.” He gestures to her horn, “by pressing their horns against the body… acupressure, I think they call it?”

“Us Cerynei don’t manifest any powers, really.” The stallion throws his head back. “Typically, however, my breed does feature lighter muscling and smaller builds, enabling us to leap significantly higher than most soquili.”

“What about your family?” He inquires, “Are they all healers?” Nostalion finds himself thinking about his own family. He silently mourns his mother and wonders what ever happened to his father.

“I must apologize, again; am I bothering you with these personal questions?”

She was fascinated by the new information she was receiving, having a love of learning. At his question she had a rush of memories of her family flood through her mind. She hadn't seen many of them in a long time, and she knew there were branches of the family tree she'd never met at all. She often marveled at that, feeling pride at being a part of something so large.

"I don't know if all of them are healers, but a great number of them are. Well, they're at least part unicorn anyway. I don't know if all of them bothered to take the time to practice their powers. My parents were both unicorns, all of my siblings are as well. Though from there things get a bit hazy! My family is vast and varied." She smiled at the thought of them all and made a mental note to visit her kids and grandkids soon. "Do you have a large family?"

PMing you plot idea ^^

Glitter’s benign inquiry stings. Although family is also very important to Nostalion, much of his past is just too painful, and, as if to add insult to injury, his attempts to start a family of his own has been unsuccessful, so far.

“Not yet,” Nostalion chuckles half-heartedly. He has been brooding over this for some time, now. Is it me? Is all of this somehow my fault?

His mate has been in poor spirits lately… Suddenly, he has an idea. “Say, Glitter what do your kin typically do to raise one another’s spirits when they’re feeling down?” The stallion perks up a little, “I have been thinking about getting my partner a gift.” He actually has several ideas percolating in his mind at this point; but, he is indecisive.

The mare recognized the frustration on the stallion's face, having seen its reflection in her mate's own eyes. Despite the two having bred before, there was still a great deal of anxiety brooding as the two tried unsuccessfully for another brood. She felt for Nostalion, truly, but also knew it was better to perhaps take his mind off of it than to inquire further. Just as she was about to suggest some activity to distract him, he asked for her help.

A wide smile tore across her colorful face. She loved to help others, and to bring smile to their faces. This was exactly the sort of thing she was born to! "Does your partner like flowers by any chance? I know it can seem a bit overdone, but I personally love to get flowers when I'm down. I also happen to know to location of some particularly lovely ones!"

Fatal Irony

Nostalion returns her smile, “that sounds like a great idea, who doesn’t like flowers?! I mean, if it isn’t any trouble for you...” The big stallion idly disturbs the earth with a forehoof. It occurs to him that he may be causing his new friend some inconvenience. He hasn’t had to rely on anyone for some time now, having enjoying a relatively isolated life in the big oak grove.

The grove has occasional visitors, most of whom seek it’s legendary apple orchards, and it’s a wonder more don’t stick around. Perhaps it’s the neighbours. The stallion’s gaze wanders as he is lost in thought.

Her mind was already racing, thinking about all of the lovely sights they would see on the way to the flowers. It was a lovely trail, if slightly dangerous. The cerynei looked like he could handle the thin cliffs they would walk across. She shrugged the concern off and looked back at him as he spoke. "Trouble? No, my dear, you are quite the opposite! I was finding myself bored and in need of adventure. This is just the thing! It's not too far, but the going might be a little rough in spots." Of course what would an adventure be without a little danger? She was already buzzing with excitement, shifting from hoof to hoof in anticipation.

Fatal Irony

Danger… I don’t think I’ll ever be able to joke about that, Nostalion broods. He shakes his head and replies “Rough going hasn't stopped me yet... one moment, please.”

The stallion produces a little wooden whistle from his leafy mane and presses to his mouth. A large brown bird wearing a leaf-shaped pendant flies out from the treetops to answer his call. “Iona, my good friend, could you be so kind as to tell Lihi that I'm leaving the grove for a bit. I’ll be back soon; it’s an urgent matter but not to worry. Thank you very much.”

Iona replies with her broken speech before flying off, “Nossss-taa-lee-ooon-Gro-ove Goone-baack-sooonn-Urrr-gent-Noo-Woo-reee...”

He turns back to Glitter, “lead on fair lady!”
