User ImageEven though the sun had set some time ago the desert was still hot. The sands having retained the heat from the long summer day, there was a breeze though that offered some sense of relief. Still it was a bit stifling to feel the heat this high in the air.

King had been circling above for some time and her wings were, in truth, starting to grow weary. Her search for one of the rarer flowers of the desert was starting to look like it would go on tomorrow night as well. She had been scouring the desert just this side of the mountain range for a few nights now. It was quite the trek up out of her forest and over the mountain ridge; it left her quite winded to be doing it several times a week. The small angeni really wished she could just find a grove of the flowers and be done with it.

The wind tugged at her mane and tail as she slowly descended towards the earth. She needed to have enough energy to get back over the mountains before morning came or she’d be stuck here. That wasn’t a prospect she wanted to think about, being stuck on this side. Nocturnal as she was, even the day time under the cover of her forest left her sweltering. That blazing ball in the sky people loved so much was a terrible bully.

Her feet sunk slightly into the sand as she landed, folding her wings gently against her sides with a sigh of relief. It quickly turned to distaste as her nose crinkled, lifting up a hoof to watch as the sand clung to the grooves of her hooves. The heat that she could feel above was far worse down here, and the wind picked up particles throwing them in her face.

The mare shook her head before stepping gently, lightly, along her ears erect as she scanned for even one flower. She wasn’t sure how long she looked before the pale lavender of the petals she was looking for greeted her sight. Just as she had hoped it was quite a gathering of the desert moon flower, well more than what she truly needed but she would take extra this time. Just so that she wouldn’t be back here again next week; it would give both her and the flowers a break.

She lowered her nose into the clutch of flowers, enjoying the feelings of them brushing against her muzzle gently as she inhaled. The little angeni was unfortunately totally unaware of her surroundings at that point.

He didn’t know why he was here… didn’t know what had drawn him to this spot. Honestly, everything his body did, his mind rejected. But it was like someone else was in control; like someone was moving for him. And it drove him nuts. He could hear the way that his body moved along the sand; could hear the way that his breath came out ragged and rough in the mask he wore. He could feel the pain along his body from where wounds were still so deep that they had hurt the tissue of his core, even though the surface had healed over. And he knew that he had no control over what his body did. That was all Krieg.

”THE BLOOD WILL SOAK THROUGH THE SANDS AND BUILD CASTLES IN THEIR HONOR!”

That was pleasant…

Krieg moved forward, almost limbering with his legs swinging in different directions, or his eye flickering around wildly. His buzzax was strapped around his shoulders and back, easily removable if he needed to. And he was a sight to be seen. Tall, all bulk and muscle, his mask making him sound rough and ragged. He could feel the way his muscles contracted in the heat, and how he wanted nothing more than to rip into something. He was violent, angry and dark. But misguided. If he could have someone that would help him, someone that could guide him to the right path, then maybe he had a chance. Maybe.

But as he continued to walk, he saw something moving. He tilted his head, and stared around the area, before letting his eyes flicker toward where the movement was. His head tilted to the side, almost as if comically so, and he watched as the figures seemed to communicate and gather toward one spot. Krieg’s eye flickered over them, and then he straightened his head, his hooves aching to run forward. His short tail gave a small flick, and after a moment, he started forward, his hooves pounding on the ground like thunder. He bared his teeth under the mask and moved with a speed he rarely used. He felt himself flaring slightly under his skin, and then… then he was seeing red.

Wait. Wait you buffoon! Look ahead! There! There’s another… Be careful! You can’t hurt her, you can’t cause any damage! Yell for her to look out, do something. You can’t just let her be mauled by wolves, you can’t let her die like that! You have to scream out! Tell her to look behind her, something!

Krieg’s head twitched some as he let out a slight bellow of a noise. ”THE FANGS OF THE WRETCHED WILL TEAR FLESH FROM BONE AND BATHE IN THEIR BLOOD!” He shouted, hopefully loud enough that the pretty mare would hear his words. He ran forward, his head dipping down to where it hit a small buckle along his shoulder, and the buzzax fell. He picked it up as it started to fall, catching it in his mouth and swinging with power that seemed to be unreal to a regular horse. He grunted around the handle, swinging a wide arc. The ax spun easily, and within seconds, slit into the side of one of the wolves. It yelped and backed up, quickly turning it’s fangs on Krieg. The wolves seemed to forget that King was there all together turning toward the more dangerous male that picked a fight with them.

User ImageKing hadn’t been expecting anyone to be around, so the sound of someone screaming at her startled the mare. She shifted turning around to find not only was there another person but a pack of wolves as well. Startled but aware enough that she needed to put space between herself and the wolves she took flight. Circling low but out of the way of sharp teeth and claws, it occurred to her only once she was in the skies that the male had subsequently saved her life.

She hadn’t seen evidence of a wolf pack around here before, so it was strange to see them now. Mesmerized King hovered low watching as the large stallion managed to chase off the offending animals. Several ending up carcasses littered about, skulls and sides split open from the heavy weapon he bore. Once it seemed safe enough to land she did, and quickly, her wings still sore from earlier. That seemed the last thing on her mind however as she approached the male with some haste to check him over.

“Are you alright? Are you injured, does it hurt anywhere?” King asked carefully as she ran her muzzle along his shoulder area, smearing blood in her wake. She didn’t seem to care terribly about the fact she was staining her pretty silver mane and tail red or that her nose smudged blood as she checked his side.

It was at this point that she slowly started to realize just how large the male was, her petite form only coming up to his shoulder at best. His form was scared, she could feel and see them as she moved along his side checking for injuries. She also took note of the large, brutal looking weapon he carried, as well as the strange mask he wore. King was beyond sure she had never in her life seen someone that looked quite like this before.

She nearly ran her nose into one of the sharp bits he had attached to some string slung around his waist. King pulled her head back quickly before looking back at the male’s head. “What’s your name?”

User Image Quickly, you have to get them. You have to kill those brutal wolves before they kill her. You have to do something! Look, she got out of the way, now you just have to finish them!

Krieg tilted his head, his one eye shifting slightly to analyze the situation as best as he could in his crazed mind. He snorted out, smoke shifting from the gas mask before he grabbed hold of the buzz ax and gave it another swing. He swung the ax quickly and effortlessly. Many wolves charged, a few getting a bite in on his leg, but he quickly kicked them away or hit them hard with whatever he could. The wolves snarled and yipped, and after over half were taken down, the rest ran. They fled quickly from the scene, snarling and moving toward the cave systems not too far out. Krieg panted slightly, his eye narrowed at the corpses before he let out a small chuckle, tail giving a slight flick behind him. His hooves had made indents in the bloody sand, and he had to resist the urge to roll in it. He carefully laid the ax down onto the ground, letting it rest in the blood. ”Soak up the blood of the fallen and be stronger for later.” The girl coming up to him helped considerably.

The psycho’s eye flickered down at the girl, and he watched as she seemed to not have a fear in the world about him. Instead, she moved right up to his side, and started to quickly analyze what was wrong with him; what could be wrong with him. Krieg blinked at her, and lifted his head slightly in confusion, his ears pinning back slightly against his skull. He made a small grunted noise, before lifting one hoof up from the ground, uncertain what it was she was doing. He stared for several seconds toward the girl, before he watched as she fretted over him. His tail flicked behind him, and he had to keep himself steady in fear that she would freak out over being so close to such a bloody, crazy stallion. The stallion dipped his head slightly and huffed. ”Salt the wounds, bathe in the aftermath of the pain that proves that life is HERE AND NOW.”

… Way to go.

Krieg shook his head, his body following suit a few moments later. He lifted his leg again, and looked down at the wound that had collected there, the bites from the wolves and the way his blood started to seep out of his body. He blinked down at it, before shrugging his shoulders. He could survive. It wasn’t going to be that hard, honestly. She shifted slightly, and tilted her head toward the mare before letting his eyes flicker over her. What was she doing? She was getting all dirty…! Krieg shifted some and lifted his nose up to try and brush some of the blood from her mane, eye flickering over the tainted silver. Krieg blinked when she asked his name, and he struggled for a moment, obviously uncertain about how to respond, since he never had a direct answer. He set his jaw, and shook his head slightly, before stomping a hoof down. ”Killing really ignites earth’s glades.” He managed, cringing slightly at the weak attempt to make any sense. He was shocked when the voice in his head didn’t respond to insult him.

”Krieg… his name is Krieg…” It was a whisper through the mask, his sanity slipping through momentarily to tell the girl his name.

User ImageKing shifted slightly as the male seemed to fumble over how to answer her. He’d seemed strange before but upon his answer to her question it seemed to click into place. His mind held him trapped or so it appeared. She wasn’t sure she could do anything about that and it would likely make it difficult to communicate but she had to at least attempt right? It wouldn’t due to leave her hero here in the sands regardless of how unlikely a hero he might be. She was sure with some time they could learn to communicate, as long as one had the patience. King was so wrapped up in her own mind that she almost missed the whisper soft voice that escaped the stallion.

Her ears shot forward and her eyes widened slightly. Had she really heard that or had she imagined it? Tucking her wings into her side she took a few steps back so that she could get a better look at him. His wounds didn’t seem terrible at this point and wouldn’t require her immediate attention she decided. This however was something unique, if she had indeed heard the second voice. She wasn’t sure what else to call it, softer sounding it was almost like a different person.

“Krieg? You’re name is Krieg?” She asked with a small smile scanning over his features. King pawed the earth slightly as she thought.

”Killing really ignites earth’s glades.”

Maybe? The first letter did match up but there was no guarantee that had been on purpose. She would have to remember that for later however. It might have been his attempt to communicate, of course he’d said several strange things so maybe she was reaching a little bit.

“I’m King, it’s nice to meet you.” She seemed to shake herself out of her reprieve before glancing down at his wounds once more. Her eyes lifted to scan the horizon, she really hoped the wolves didn’t come back or worse the smell of blood drew in more dangerous predators.

“We should leave this area so I can get you bandaged up. Do you have a home nearby?” The mare asked tilting her head to the side. She shifted slightly moving closer once more at the howl of the wind across the sands. She wasn’t sure why she didn’t fear this male. She really ought to, at least if she had good sense she should, right? He was this bloody crazy desert dwelling stallion who had just hacked up some wolves… but he’d done it to save her.

He’d done nothing that seemed violent at all since then. Krieg had actually been quite gentle all things considered. Especially considering he had to be in pain right, wolf bites couldn’t feel very good after all. So maybe later she’d be called crazy for sticking around but she didn’t really care about that. What mattered right now was that she get those wounds treated so they didn’t get infected.
