This was something completely unexpected, something that had never happened before, Makoto was lost. And of all places to be lost, why did it have to be a sea of sand. Why not in a nice forest where he could easily find things to eat or drink? Of course he already knew the answer to that. He had decided just the other day to make his way to this sea of sand and create a map of it. As much as he enjoyed exploring and charting his journey, he had truly never considered what would happen if he got lost. This was, of course, ill preperation on his part. His mother had always told him to pay attention and take things he may need on his travels. He had not prepared for his journey in this place. Being as large as he was, he wasn't too hard to miss, but he wasn't sure if anyone was even around in this sand. It would be remarkable if anyone even lived in this place! How could they possibly survive.

Of course this brought back his earlier thought about how he should have prepared for what was to come. He should have brought some water at least. Kadentsu, his mother, would be very disappointed in his lack of concern for getting things ready. And considering the bit of knowledge that they had of the sea of sand. That it's really hot... and humid... So water should have been on the top of his list for sure. He shook his head. He really couldn't believe how terribly he had prepared himself. He at least should have brought along some cactus... They hold water pretty well.

As he thought about this, his mouth watered further. He really needed to find someplace to rest out of the sun soon... Or he wouldn't last much longer in this place.

User ImageShe'd lived here for years. Years and year sand years. Most of her life, really. As soon as she entered adulthood, she had traveled. Her mother and father worried, she was certain, but she wished them well, and moved on. Naja had found the desert rather quickly, and she, with much excitement, settled to mapping out the area in her mind. As she traveled, she learned places where cactus grew plentiful and places where there was water clearer than the sky. She also had hard times; times where she had no food or water. Times where she was so weak all she could do was lay in the sand and protect herself with the feathery wings on her back. And that was when she met the Amachi's... They saved her; gave her food and water, told her where it was that the best oasis' were and where and when to stop. She even learned how to see when a sandstorm was about to hit, how long it would last, and how to survive it.

Which is what Naja was doing now.

She had been staring toward the skies, watching and waiting. She felt it in her bones that something was going to go wrong. Naja's tail flicked, scattering sand slightly and making a small dent in the golden ground. Within seconds that dent was filled again and it made no difference. Her ears pinned some, wings pressing harder against her side as she watched the way the sun shifted and the sky grew a little darker. She knew that a sandstorm was going to come. And it would be a bad one. After scanning the area, and figuring out just where she was, she figured out where she needed to go. There was an oasis not far from here that had some tall trees that were bent over, and leaves that weaved between them with vines set up by some travelers. It was a perfect place to hold up from the storm. A small shelter with fresh water and vegetation. At least it would be safe there and she wouldn't get lost within the desert sea.

Naja moved quickly, sliding down a dune and heading in a slow gallop toward the oasis. Her wings stayed close to her, though she felt the sand clinging to her feathers. As she moved, she spotted something again; more aptly someone. She easily shifted forward and across the dunes until she could get within earshot of the other being. She kept advancing as she shouted toward him, hoping to get his attention fully so that she could catch him before he wandered the wrong way. She had always wished to repay the Amachi's, and the only way she could think to would be to save others as she was saved before. "Hey! Over here! A sandstorm is coming! If you follow me this way I can get you to safety before it hits!" She shouted toward the, now that she was closer, stallion that wasn't too far from where she was heading.

Makoto was breathing rather heavy now, truly unsure of what he was going to do next. The one thing he was going to refuse to do though, and that was to die out there in that sea of sand. He would be sure to survive as long as he possibly could. Suddenly, the sky seemed to start darkening. Looking up, he could feel the winds changing, the sun starting to blot out in the sky. As he took in this sight, he suddenly heard someone calling out to him. Which he thought was odd. He truly didn't think that he would find anyone out here! Never mind someplace that seemed so in the middle of no where. Looking toward the noise, he saw what he believed to be a mare. She wasn't too terribly far away either. This was good news! Though what she was saying certainly wasn't. He had heard about the sand storms that happened here. Heard about how they can suffocate you and move in in mere moments. They were scary things indeed. Though it was a strange thing to hear about. He had storm watchers where he lived check on if such a thing was common and they had said it wasn't common enough to worry about. Apparently they were wrong. And he would make sure to tell them that when he saw them next too.

Shaking his head, he made his way toward the mare who was calling out to him. He had no reason to doubt what this mare said. After all, if she knew where she was going, she must live here. And he wanted to be sure to meet someone who lived in such a place.

"Lead the way! I will follow anyone who can survive in this place."

He decided that he would follow the mare where ever it is she went. If she proved she couldn't be trusted, he knew he was large enough to take her own anyway. No matter how tired and dehydrated he may be.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Naja was surprised when the stallion so willingly agreed to follow her. Usually they stared at her funny or contemplated just plain out attacking her. Though she often met some fun story tellers. She smiled slightly at the thought, before shaking her head. No no. She needed to focus. Get to safety. Get up to the oasis and get bunkered down quickly before something went wrong. She glanced over her shoulder toward the stallion; which she could tell now. He seemed willing to follow wherever she went, and that was probably a good thing! Taking a deep breath, she surged forward, and toward where the oasis, her eyes locked ahead of her and tail skirting along the sand. If she could get them to the oasis, then she'd be fine. They'd be fine.

The mare moved quickly through the sands, obviously knowing where it was she was going. She could hear him following behind her; hear the way that he moved. She tilted her head back to peek at him once more, before moving forward and up a dune. It wasn't hard for her to climb the sand, her wings spreading a bit as she did and tilting this way and that as if to balance herself from slipping and falling back down. Once she got to the top, she could see the oasis not far from where she was. Her wings folded flat against her side, and she glanced toward where the storm was coming from. Her frown shifted farther, and she shook out her mane, before turning back toward the storm. Her eyes flickered along the sky, before she breathed out a slow sigh and shook her head. Naja turned once more toward the stallion, watching him closely.

"Hurry! We have to outrun the storm. We're almost there!" She called, tail skirting over the sands.

Being so willing to blindly follow someone was certainly not something Makoto was used to. Having been a stranger in many different places, the others he met were often hostile or downright mean. Though he was generally pretty good about keeping his cool until the other made the first move. That was something he had learned in his many travels. Keeping your cool when you were in a terrible or intense situation usually gave you the upper hand. Though his own sheer size compared to most helped out a lot too. Those who came to him with the intent to do harm usually backed down pretty fast as soon as they saw him at his full size. Plus his mother's training in posture helped him stand up as straight as possible, which added to his imposing size. Something about this mare made him decide that she wasn't a threat to him, however small. She simply seemed... Nice? Maybe that was the word for it. He was sure that he would find out more once they were to safety!

Makoto's bulk made it slow moving through the sand, having to be hunched over against it all. He wasn't as good in the sand as the mare clearly was, not as used to the heat. Even with the sun starting to blot out from the large amounts of sand, it was still so very humid. He certainly didn't have enough hydration to continue on like this for too much longer. Surly the mare knew not only where to keep safe, but where there was food and water. They certainly wouldn't make it long in any kind of storm without something to keep them going. He then wondered how safe the place that she had would be. Would it have enough shelter to guard from the winds and sand? Better yet, was the entrance far enough back that they wouldn't have to worry too much about such things? He wasn't even sure where they were going in the first place now that he thought on it.

He shook his head to clear it. Now was certainly not the time to ponder on what kind of shelter she had for them to wait out the storm. And there certainly wasn't time to stop and ask her such things. This storm was clearly moving in fast and he had no option but to trust her explicitly. In his own head he couldn't decide if his mother would be happy for his decision to go ahead and trust this mare, or if she would be incredibly disappointed in him. He would have to ask her when he saw her again. At least he would be able to tell her of the mare who saved his life. He was sure that she would be interested in that.

He thought on it a bit more, maybe this mare would be kind enough to tell him about the surrounding area. That would certainly be nice. Makoto shook his head again. He really shouldn't be letting his mind wander as much as he has been. His attention should be kept on the mare leading him to safety. Plain and simple.

Naja had to pause. She glanced around, her dark eyes flickering from one spot to another. She needed to figure out where it was she was going; where it was they were going. She couldn't get stuck in a sandstorm. And she knew this stallion behind her had never been in a desert. She could tell by the way he moved in the sand; the way his hooves seemed to slip and his frustration grew. She took a quick sweep of the sky from her high point, before frowning. They wouldn't make it to the Oasis down the way; there was no way. She did a quick sweep of the desert before her. Her eyes fell quickly on the mountain not to far from her. She analyzed the shape, before nodding. There. There was a cave there, someplace they could hunker down. And not just any cave. She grinned some, her tail flicking lightly over the sand. She glanced back toward where the stallion was, nodding her head toward him. Let him see her confident. It would help, right?

Naja moved quickly, her wings shifting here or there to help steady her on the sands. It wasn't too long before they were able to make it to the cave entrance, hidden by some rocks twice her size. She weaved her way into the hidden cave entrance, before moving quietly through the tight cave entrance. She didn't want to lose the stallion though, and knew that this would be a tight squeeze. She glanced over her shoulder for a second, searching for him in the dark, before breathing out a sigh and hoping he was close. She ducked under a low hanging rock face, and folded her wings tight so that they wouldn't brush a rock or get pocked by something sharp. Eventually, she saw the light at the end of the cave, and paused. This was her safe haven... she didn't bring people here often; but she didn't have a choice. he needed someplace safe. They both did. and anywhere else would take too long. Sighing, she nodded her head to herself, and moved forward, her tail flicking.

When the cave expanded, it seemed as though it opened up to the sky. There was a huge cave inside the mountain, with a few holes at the top where light from the sun shown through. In the center of the cave was crystal clear water, the sound of water dropping from the ceiling easily heard in the quiet. The heated stones created clean water, and it dropped to form the lovely water pond in the center. Greens flourished; trees and bushes and grass growing around the water and thriving. There was a pile of furs and silks she had bought off the Amachi clan or been gifted near the small oasis, forming a bed. She paused at the entrance, shaking off some of the sand from her wings and out of her hair, before waiting for the stallion to make his way into the wider birth of the cave. He'd need to be seen as someone who wasn't a threat first, and she was nervous he would be; after all, he was a stranger. Naja didn't even know his name yet; and that could be her own fault. But they didn't have time for introductions when the sandstorm was coming.

"Sorry for not introducing myself out there; rush and all. My name is Naja Pallida. And uh... This is my home." She stated, glancing toward the oasis with calm eyes. "We should be safe here until the storm passes." Naja moved forward, her tail flicking as she located a few torches. She cracked her hooves down against a few rocks to create a spark, before picking up the lit torch and lighting a few more around the cave to give them light when the sun would be blacked out. She stopped near the trees, eyes flickering over the stallion curiously.

Makoto watched as the mare seemed to look around nervously. He was sure that she probably knew something he didn't. Something that was probably important for them both to know, but he certainly wasn't going to sweat not knowing everything when they were so close to being trapped in a storm he only knew as dangerous. As the mare climbed up to a higher dune, Makoto shrugged off some of the sand, this stuff was certainly an annoyance in large quantities like this. He vaguely wondered what this place would be like if it didn't have all this sand. Maybe it would have been a beautiful large forest with plenty of water and animals to watch. Oh how he could only dream. This place was a tub of sand and there wasn't a thing he would ever be able to do to change that. Placing his eyes back on the mare, he watched as she seemed to grow worried. They would probably have to head elsewhere than what she thought, or the swirling winds had confused her a bit. He was sure that even those who lived out here could be turned around once in a while from the swirling sands. As he grew closer to her, she seemed to nod at him, perhaps as a way to try and reassure him that they would be alright. She must have seen a place for them to go while she was up there. Changing course, he followed her a bit more closely this time. Though he didn't want to follow too closely for fear that she might be startled off from his large size.

As they came upon the entrance to the cave, he couldn't believe what he saw. The mare seemed to disappear behind the rocks, though he could only assume it was a hidden entrance. Very clever to hide such a thing from others who were simply passing by. If you didn't know any better one would assume it was just a rock formation leading up to the side of the mountain. As he started in, he gave a bit of a snort. This was certainly going to be tight. The mare had made it seem so easy with her smaller body, though she also knew the way into the cave, so it was a good assumption that she went their often. Perhaps the entrance had even been made simply to fit the mare perfectly but to give others a hard time so no one would simply wander in unannounced.

He made his way slowly into the cave, banging his knees here and there and letting out rather large snorts once in a while. When the cave expanded, he felt like his lungs were thankful just to not be crushed into his sides for a while and he let out a sigh of relief. Then he shook out his fur, the sand was clinging to him like there was no tomorrow... And, now that he thought on it, it was probably inside of his strange cracks as well. This wasn't a pleasant thought at all... He worked hard to keep his stuffing clean inside his body.

As he sighed, his eyes finally lifted and took in the cave around him. It was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. The water all around and then the plants that flourished here were strange in a way. They almost seemed to glow because of the light given off by the small holes in the ceiling. Seeing the silks and things arranged in a portion of the cave, he figured that this must be where the mare stayed. It was strange to have to hunker down in a mares home. It made him feel like he was some kind of predator creeping into her life. He shook his head, knowing he shouldn't feel that way. They had no choice. The storm was right on their heels, he was sure of that.

Makoto watched the mare as she spoke and answered accordingly, "My name is Makoto." He bowed his head to her to show his manners, "This is a very lovely home. I'm sorry that I have to intrude on such a sacred place. Even with a storm coming, a stallion should never have to be in a mare's home." Makoto thought for a moment, "Thank you for helping me." And with that, he stood there a bit gruffly, making sure to stay straight in the presence of another. His mother had taught him that manners are important to keep in mind, even when in situations that were not the best.

Naja had to release the breath she was holding when he made it through the cave system. The whole point was to keep larger creatures out so that her haven wasn't tampered with. But when she was trying to help someone, it was not a good thing to have him get stuck. She watched as he moved forward and seemed to look at the world he had just stumbled into. Her eyes flickered over him, analyzing him. Aside from the fact he was covered in sand, he seemed to be well. She glanced over toward where the pond of water was, before moving to another area near by. It was slightly separated from the crystal clear banks with some stones. Naja lowered herself down slightly, before dipping her wing into the water. After a moment, she lifted it and beat her wing above herself, splattering water against her form. It helped to cool her off, as well as get some of the persistent sand off her pelt.

The mare turned back toward where he stood, watching him with a curious look. She smiled politely at him, her wings folding easily against her sides. Her ears swiveled for a moment, before she let out a pleasant little laugh; gentle and soft like a bird cry. "No need to apologize, Makoto. There was a storm, and it was the only choice. Besides, someone else needs to see this place before it gets buried in sand. It'll happen eventually.." She mused, before focusing on him once more. Her eyes flickered along his form, before she nodded for him to move closer in. It was no real problem, he didn't have to wait at the entrance. She shifted toward the walls, making sure some of the torches were lit. If they needed it, she pulled them from the walls and struck her hooves against stone, causing a small spark and the silk to catch fire. She put them back on the wall, and then moved toward the water once more.

"You are very welcome. I couldn't just leave you out there in the storm. The desert claims many every year." She said gently. Naja moved toward the closed off pond, before stepping into it. She carefully dipped her wings in and ensured to get all the sand out of her feathers, before shaking out her head, and dipped it into the water as well. She cleaned herself off, before pulling herself out of the pond, and shook out the excess water. "It'll get dark when the storm passes over the mountains. You should clean the sand off your pelt now before that happens. The torches help, but not enough to be able to see the sand. Especially on that color pelt. Trust me." She said, smiling. She had a similar pelt, so it was easy for her to relate. She nodded toward the pond to indicate he could use it if he liked.

Makoto stepped a bit further into the lovely cave that was her home. He was not used to seeing such things. Sure, he had met plenty of other Soquili in his life, but he has never really seen their homes. Of course half of them were rather... testy that he was anywhere near there home. But he had certainly meant to harm by it. At least not for most of them. Then the others had happily welcomed him into their community. There are a lot of kind herds out there willing to allow a wandering stallion into their midst to rest for a while. It always gave him comfort when he was able to rest surrounded by other bodies. It was a strange thing to him. He had never really grown up in a herd per say. It was just his mother, his brother, and himself. And now, most of the time, it's not even his brother. He had left on his own to find where he belonged. Which was certainly an admirable cause, if not a little lonely, especially his mother. She sends Makoto out all the time on jobs to explore and categorize all the new places he sees.

Coming back to reality, he shook himself out again. Then he focused his attention on the mare again. She was interesting to watch in the water. Cleaning herself off. He had seen plenty of mares, but none seemed so interesting. She wasn't as afraid of him as others seemed to be. Maybe she hadn't noticed the breaks in his fur? It was starting to get dark. Would her opinion of him change if she could see what he looked like? He imagined that she knew what he took like. There was no possible way she hadn't see while they were outside. He listened to her as she spoke. "Yes... I think it would be a good idea to bathe. This sand clings to the fur just like mud. It's a wonder really." He shook himself out again before walking toward the water. It was always a good idea to wash up. And he was glad that he was able to finally get some of it off of himself. Maybe he would even be able to wash a bunch of the dirt out of his cracks... The stuffing inside tended to get itchy when it was too dirty.

Slowly he worked his way into the water. Being as large as he was, he didn't want it to splash out too much. It would certainly be a bad thing if he splashed his host. Or worse ended up putting out the lights she only just lit. As he settled into the water and lightly shook. Getting the water over as much of himself as he possibly can, especially his tail and mane. The sand needed to get out of his fur in general. Gently he washed the sand out of his stuffing. Then, just as gently as he had gotten himself in, he came out of the water. As he shook the water out of himself, he attempted to be courteous of his host and not get any water on her newly dried coat.

Naja quietly watched the stallion with interest. She had noted the cracks; of course she had. But not until he was in the cave system. By then, there was no point in reacting to it. Her head tilted somewhat toward the stallion as he seemed to consider moving forward and into the water. Yes; this was what she needed to figure out. What happened to him? Why was his skin… broken. As if pieces of him were missing. Was something wrong? Did she need to ignore it or question it? Would it be rude to ask if he needed any assistance with the… whatever it was that was in his neck? Naja eventually pulled her eyes away from him as he moved toward the cleaning pond, and instead, she started to walk toward a smaller alcove. She dipped her head into the small section of the cave, and sniffed at a few different bags, before slowly grabbing one, and pulled it out and into the main dome. Her tail skirted somewhat over the ground, and her wings folded tight against her sides. Eventually, she dropped the bag, and then moved toward the water with a curious look.

”Do you need any help? I know the water is rather shallow, and without wings, getting sand off your back can be a challenge.” She smiled softly, and without waiting for an answer, dipped one of her wings into the water. She lifted it up some, letting out a small huff from the effort, before shaking her wing over him to where he could get his back wet. She repeated it a few times, before shaking her wing dry and folding it against her side once more. After a moment, she moved away from him once more and then toward the sack she had brought out. Give him some privacy. She nosed open the knot, her teeth pulling at the twill. She got the bag open, and then nosed out some fresh fruit. At least they would have something to eat. Her eyes flickered up toward the holes in the ceiling, which were slowly starting to grow darker and darker. She frowned, staring some. It was moving in quickly; which meant it was going to stay longer. The mare let out a frustrated noise, before shaking her head and let her eyes flicker away from them.

By the time she looked away, Makoto was done in the water. She blinked some, and tilted her head a bit, before smiling toward him. After a second, she moved forward and toward him once more, her wings folding easily against her back. Her tail skirted over the ground, and then she dipped her head slightly toward him, and let her eyes flicker toward the food she had brought out. ”I have food to last a few weeks… just in case. But whenever you are hungry, by all means. We might be here for a while…” She said, her voice trailing off as she lifted her eyes once more toward the ceiling.

Makoto, naturally, had no idea of the moral dilemma that was going on in Naja's head. Though it was all things that he had encountered plenty of times before. Not from just strangers either. When he was smaller, his own mother wasn't sure what to do with him. What to do with all the cracks and crevices that he contained. Or how to keep that stuffing clean. It was something that they had to learn over time. Though they had eventually learned, taking great care when they finally got it down. When she had helped him with his back it was certainly welcome. Being as large as he is, it makes it difficult to get his back to say the least. He was glad that this mare wasn't afraid of him though. It was very important for him to find those that were a bit more comfortable with him. This mare certainly seemed okay to say the least.

Carefully he watched her. Not wanting her to feel like he was staring or to be intimidated by his eyes. As he watched, he saw her pull out a bag and then open it. It was certainly a good idea to keep food stored in your home. Especially if you were to use it as a place to stay through storms. And from her expression, he was sure that they would be there a while. This didn't have to be a bad thing of course. They could simply get to know each other a bit more. Maybe all about their families or something. For sure they would be able to think of something to talk about.

As she turned to point toward the food, he smiled at the mare. She was certainly nice to go ahead and share with him. Even if she may feel she needs to. Since they were going to be stuck there until the storm passed. Smiling at the mare again, he spoke. "Thank you very much for offering. Despite my size, I honestly don't have to eat too much." He smiled and shook his head out, "If you need me to get anything ready for you though, certainly don't be afraid to ask." He bowed his head low.

As he came back up, he smiled at the mare. Now that he thought on it a bit, this would be a good time to try and ask about the sands themselves. Since he had never been there before and he was there to learn more about them. "So how long is it that you have lived out here?" Then he realized the question might be a bit abrupt and continued with, "Though you really don't have to tell me. Of course. I wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable answering any seemingly strange questions. I was just out here to try and learn more about the sands. And I thought that you might be a good person to ask." He looked about the cavern, "Since we are stuck here for now anyway. And you are welcome to ask me anything you like as well. Since I'm not sure you would get away very often or what have you." He smiled as nicely as he could, hoping that it wouldn't frighten her. Then realized he must be very self conscious like this a lot...

User ImageNaja shifted slowly forward, her body like a liquid grace along the cavern she called home. She shifted and picked things up, moving silks and furs to where they needed to be. She cleaned up some of the leaves that had fallen from the trees that were there, and set them in a pile in the side. Her eyes flickered toward the torches, and she moved over to a few to make sure that they would stay lit through the storm. Or at least not go out all at once. Her head tilted to the side, and she lifted a wing to brush the tips of her feathers against the torch. Her tail flicked behind her, and she nodded, before turning to check another, and then another. After a few moments, she paused to look toward the stallion, sending him a small smile, before continuing on in her tidying up. They couldn’t stay in a dirty, dingy dark cave, right? May as well make it a clean, dingy dark cave. She almost laughed at the thought, before turning toward the stallion once more, and moved quietly where the silks and furs were.

”Hm?” The mare tilted her head toward the side, looking toward where Makoto was, her eyes flickering over him. He didn’t eat much? But he was so large! Her wings unfurled slightly before re-folding against her back. She smiled softly and let out an almost sing-song laugh before nodding her head. ”Deal. If you promise not to be shy on eating on my behalf. I don’t think it would be wise to starve yourself, after all. Even if you don’t eat much.” She said, smiling sweetly toward him. She moved over to the furs and silks, before dipping her head to start and sort them out. She made sure that there were two piles, both of which would easily accommodate the sizes of the two in the cave. She could lay on the smaller one, and the bigger one would fit Makoto very well. At the very least they would be able to sleep without worry. Her head tilted to the side, and she nodded, before turning toward the stallion once more.

The stallion was suddenly talking about the sands, and seemed to be rambling. She smiled toward him, before moving over toward the water. She grabbed the discarded leaves, and drug them toward a circle of high rocks a little farther off. She picked up a stick near the corner, and made sure that the branch caught fire, before setting it in the ring of rocks. Within a few moments, a small fire started in the ring, and it allowed for warmth and further light to move into the cave. She lowered herself to the ground there, laying down and tilted her head toward him to address the question. ”It’s no problem, Makoto. I’ve been in the desert for most of my adult life… My parents are wanderers, and they have always wanted to explore the world around them. When we came here, I found a liking for the heat, and seemed to be able to survive the sands a lot easier than others. I suppose I found my calling here…” She said, and now she felt like she was rambling. She laughed softly, and shrugged her shoulders, before letting her eyes flicker to the fire.

Makoto watched his host carefully. It was interesting to watch this mare move so fluidly. He tail always flicking about lightly. Though he had traveled to so many places, he had never really seen a tail like that before. Or at least not exactly like that. It was strangely mesmerizing. He didn't like staring at someone so much, since he had always been taught that it was rude, but this mare seemed different to him. Maybe it was just because she had saved him from the sands outside. The sands that he suddenly became strangely aware of. The swirling that he could just make out far above their heads. He wondered a bit what it actually looked like outside in the storm.

Snapping back into reality, he watched Naja again as she continued to clean and move things around. Checking that the lights would stay on. Makoto smiled a bit at the mare, amused that he had been given permission to eat food. Or rather as much as he needed. Most didn't believe him when he mentioned not eating much and she wasn't any different. He would be sure to eat until she seemed content with it then. The extra food wouldn't kill him after all. "I'll be sure to eat my fill then. I wouldn't want someone so kind to have to worry about me after all." He shook his head a bit as she started moving furs and silks around into piles. Clearly she was making places for them to rest, but how much rest would either of them really get. Since he was a stranger in his home and he wasn't sure he would be able to sleep knowing that there was such a terrible storm going outside.

Continuing to watch, she moved about some more, this time her actions led to them getting a nice fire to keep the chill away. It had gotten a bit chilly, but he wasn't actually a good measure for if there was a chill in the air. Being strange meant he had a lot of strange things to him after all, the cracks and stuffing, not eating much, and then not really noticing chills. He tilted his head to the side as he got caught up in his thoughts again. This must seem like such a strange thing to the mare, but he was so often alone that he was used to getting lost in his thoughts. Coming out of them, he decided to lay down just as Naja started to reply to him. He really needed to focus on things beyond his thoughts.

"So you like the desert then? Personally I'm not sure I have a favorite place myself." He tilted his head, "My mother and I are both wanderers. Though she spends a lot more time at home these days, sending me out to look at different lands." Nodding a bit, he continued, "I've been all over the place. Into the swamp, to the highest mountain. It's an interesting life actually. And I've met plenty of others on my journey as well. I'm not sure if I've made friends per say, but I know that I would be welcome back to any of these places." Makoto smiled a bit as he stretched out his back legs.
