(This is a PRP between UniWingdFox playing Samnie and Mehira & Fatal Irony playing Leilan) It had been a few weeks since the little black and white mare had met and later became friends with a Kelpi. At first it seemed like the aquatic mare was on edge as if ready for an attack to come her way at any moment. Now, however, Samnie could tell that her new friend had really relaxed when she would meet up with her at the lake's bank. It thrilled her to no end to have someone so close that she need not worry about being so alone. After all, most of the time this adult Usdia would have been home alone hoping her little herd mates would come back for a visit as she worried greatly about them. The worry still nagged in her mind, but having a friend whom she could converse with really helped to keep her from going insane with said worry.
Little Samnie smiled as she happily hopped into the gently lapping water at the lake's start. "Mehira!" she called out, eagerness lacing through her tone. "I'm ready for our play date!" Yes, they even had play dates which was unavoidable since the tiny mare acted just like a puppy. Sometimes you could even swear her tail was wagging in excitement.
For this play date though, she did not simply wait at the bank as per usual. Instead, she jumped out and into the deeper water making a big loud splash. Today the two had planned to play mostly in the lake itself for multiple reasons. One reason being that Mehira was not pleased with how slow Samnie was in the water versus how she was on land, and Samnie is a very fast little female. Another reason for this change was to add a new level of excitment and fun to their frequent play times. The blue eyed mare had been all to happy to oblige in this fun new game.
Samnie swam out a little bit farther from the bank making it hard to tell she was not a young foal. Once there she spotted her friend's familiar cream and red splotched coat. Of course she would meet her before going out too far! The small land mare giggled out loud as she was splashed by Mehira but she did not fall for the distraction dodged the first attempt to pull her down. This would be their game today. The aqua mare trying to distract her land friend so that she could pull her down, and the land mare trying to dodge her aquatic friends tricks. Of course, it was not long before the black and white coated female was caught and pulled under real quick with a very loud yelp.

The red eyed mare was gracefully swimming toward the center of the lake she called home with her snot just barely staying above the surface. Her ears, that were also above the water line, were twitching as if listening out for something or someone. Which they were indeed as their owner was waiting for her first and so far only friend to alert her that she was ready for their now habitual play date. Not that anyone could see it, but the female started to smile at the thought of her friend. It had been nearly a month now since the two had met when the Kelpi first moved from one side of the large body of water to the other. At the beginning she was curious and cautious of the little mare named Samnie. Too many a time had she been greeted by new land dwellers by being viciously attacked. This time however, the new land pony showed nothing but curiosity of her own and eagerness to get to know the aqua mare. Mehira soon found herself opening up to the smaller mare. Much to her delight, Samnie in turn opened up as well. They ended they day with promises to meet up again.
Indeed they did, which is why when she heard her name hollered out that was then followed up by a large splash, she took a deep breath and dove into the water heading toward the direction she knew her friend would head. After all it would not be good for the barely bigger than a foal female to travel too far into the deep side of the lake. The creamy coated water mare did not try to greet her friend, but simply went right into their game. Once she was close enough to Samnie, Mehira struck by flipping her finned tail out just enough to send a splash wave toward the black and white land dweller. Her first attempt to snag and pull the smaller one was met by defeat as her companion dodged out of the way. If the spotted mare was not mistaken she could have sworn she heard some giggling. Oh, it would not do to be outwitted by someone who very much lacked when it came to swimming and moving in the lake.
Thinking fast, Mehira moved quickly in a tight circle around the hooves of the wading Usdia. Her tail fin tickled the tiny legs before she lashed it up and down across the black back of their owner. It was all really fast and she smirked when she heard the loud yelp as she splashed her buddy into the water. Of course the Kelpi had no way of knowing that their harmless game could look like something entirely different from the shoreline.

The stallion had found the day to be particularly pleasant. The sun had broken through the clouds, clearing away the recent rains. It had been so damp and dreary for the last week, and he was eager to stretch his legs again. He'd been cramped up in a cave with his mate, waiting for the rains to pass. She'd been as eager as he to get out and stretch, though for her it was a matter of "airing out her wings", as she tended to put it. He expected she'd be out most of the day, soaring among the clouds.
He didn't begrudge her the ability to fly, of course. He was perfectly happy here on the solid ground. He stomped his hoof for emphasis on his next step, laughing lightly under his breath. No, he didn't need wings, and he didn't need to leave the ground to fly. He grinned wide and broke into a wild run, the wind whipping back his mane, his tail flying madly behind him. He couldn't hear even his own breath above the sound of the rushing air and steady thrumming of his hooves. THIS was flying. This was all he would ever need of the experience.
He darted here and there, ducking under branches and leaping over roots. He moved with near-abandon, the gracefulness of his unicorn heritage lending him the impossible-seeming way in which he navigated the woods.
He slowed as the trees grew further apart and smaller, the bushes and grass beneath him giving way to sand and rocks. He felt the sun hotly on his face and back. He was panting a bit, the adrenaline causing the blood to pound in his ears, but he enjoyed the feeling of being so alive.
Suddenly, however, his heart skipped a beat as he heard a scream and a splash. His eyes darted across the water, the lake near at hand. He spotted the area where the water was disturbed and ran for it, no thoughts at all to his own safety. He had no idea what he was up against as he plunged into the surf, water spraying everywhere. He saw a glimmer of fins, a flash of black. There were clearly two forms, and one appeared to be a kelpi!
He'd heard tales of kelpi that would drown others under the waves, but hadn't given the stories much credit. After all, some of his cousins were kelpi! There was no time to consider the possibilities at the moment, however. Now was the time for action!
He plunged his face into the waves, kicking off the bit of sand at the bottom and propelled himself forward as fast as he could toward the larger of the two forms, the one with fins. He's try to drive it away if he could, hoping the smaller one would get away in the commotion.

The tiny mare was just having so much fun! Oh boy was this just a wonderful idea for a game! Being mindful of the fact that she was under water, the Usida female smiled at her friend before moving away from her so that she could surface for some much needed air. Before she even had the chance though, a figure started to bare down on them. She of course did not notice as this unknown, to either of them, pony barreled into their fun play time almost as if trying to attack them. This caused such a frenzy that it sent Samnie a little deeper down into the water. The smaller mare was not sure what was going on but knew she should try to get back to her friend. She swam as fast as her short legs would let her and yet it seemed like she gained little on them. All she could do was watch for a moment and try to get her strength up to seperate the other mare and the male currently keeping them seperate.
Anger the normally playful and peaceful female did not feel swelled up from deep inside her. How dare this male just come into the lake and attack her friend. How dare he turn their normal fun playing into this big mess of confusion. Just how dare he! The anger bubbled over and she put all her effort into launching herself at the two of them. All the thoughts of her own saftey and needs left her with just her rage leading her dicission. In this rage induced effort of hers to get over to where Mehira was strugling with the stallion, she was knocked hard on the head.
Although it did not seem intentional, it did cause a small bump to start forming on her head just by her left ear and for her vision to start to falter. Samnie blinked a couple of times trying to restore her vision to clearer level. When that was not working she then tried to shake her head in hopes that it would work. This, of course, was a bad idea as instead of clearing her vision it gave her a massive throbing headache centered around the bump and spreading outward. Not only that, but her vision started to turn black around the edges very quickly. Forgetting where she was, the small land based pony gasped only to have her lungs fill with water. It did not take long for her to fully lose not only her vision, but her conciousness as well. No longer having control of herself or her actions the tiny mare started to descend into the depths of the lake.

Mehira could not disguise the mirth she felt at how wonderfully their play date was going. It was really rather refreshing to be around her smaller companion. Knowing her friend would resurface so that she might catch her breath, the Kelpi started to shift away. It was then when she noted the presence of another in the water. Unfortunately there was nary enough time for a response before the stallion was between them. The aquatic female barred her sharp teeth at him ready to attack if the need so arose. Her tail was swishing violently from side to side. This was the first time anything had ever gone so far to attack her.
Distracted as she was by the stranger, she did not notice Samnie as she was moving toward them. Nor had she noticed the tiny female had been thrown so far from her. All of her attention was on the assailant. Being that she felt so threatened, she launched herself at him. In doing so she twirled herself around moving to strike him with her tail. Even if she was not trying to fully harm him, she definitely felt her connect with something. That was when she saw her friend was still in the water with them. Instantly the Usida became her only concern.
Mehira bodily shoved past the stallion swimming fast to get to her now descending companion. Worry was etched all over her face. 'Why did this have to happen with her here?' She thought to herself. 'Please be ok.' The water based mare caught her friend and turned to swim back to the surface first. Once she had her above water then she would hurry along to the shore. Hopefully the male would not seek to keep attacking her.

There was such a flurry of motion that Leilan was at once overwhelmed and disoriented. Water was not at all his element, and he felt suddenly foolish to charge the aquatic soquili on her home turf. His worry was solely on the usdia behind him, but he couldn't keep an eye on her as the kelpi attacked. He barely had the time to turn in the water, narrowly avoiding the swing of the mighty tail. How was it possible for her to move so fast? He was struggling against the current and felt like he was trying to move in honey. His limbs felt weighted down and heavy, his mane and tail dragging him towards the bottom. He had little time to think on that as he was sent spinning and struggling against the momentum caused by the kelpi knocking him aside. He turned as fast as he could as the kelpi barreled through him to get to her prey, but his mane swarmed his face and he couldn't see to swipe at her or stop her. He swam after the two, shaking his mane from his eyes as best he could, his heart sinking as he thought about his failure to save the diminutive mare.
His confusion set in as he saw the kelpi not attack, but lift the usdia in the water, as though trying to save her. He blinked owlishly at them, eyes blurry in the water but still quite certain he was not seeing an attack. He rushed as quickly as he could to follow the two to shore, noticing the usdia's lack of consciousness. Something had gone seriously wrong here, and clearly she was in need of help. He had a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach as he surfaced and gasped for air before submerging again to swim faster towards the kelpi and usdia in trouble.
They had already made the shore as Leilan broke free of the waves and approached, panting from his struggles. He ignored the kelpi, shoving her out of the way as he bent to study the usdia. She had a bad knot on her head and seemed not to be breathing. He placed a hoof to her chest, positioning it carefully and began pressing with as much force as he dared on such a small subject until the water poured out of her mouth and she began sputtering. He lowered his head and closed his eyes, hovering his horn over her bump and concentrating on the healing powers he was gifted with. He may not have as much power as a full unicorn, but he could at least help here. He should be able to reverse the effects of drowning and reduce the swelling on her head, if not heal it outright.
