What is a Runic Weapon? - Hunters over the course of time may acquire permission to access or use various sorts of Runic Weapons. Runic weapons are on a permission usage basis only: that means after a certain mission, or after they have been used a certain amount of times, they need to be returned back to the weapons master. Hunters can acquire access or permission to use the weapon either default through a mission or by completing training exercises showing their competency levels. Once again, Runic weapons are on a usage basis, meaning after 1 use, they need to be brought back to be recharged. Think of them like borrowed items or weapons. - Runic weapons are not meant to be used outside of missions. They can be practiced with in sparring in some cases, but will need to be recharged when done. Runic Weapons in Battle: - Runic Weapons can be used in battle in substitute for a normal weapon-based attack. This also helps Hunters who are in a tight situation: it is always good to keep one or two Runic weapons handy with the Hunter at all times during a mission. - When runic weapon in battle, please list in OOC brackets underneath your HP tally/ damage tally the name of Runic weapon you are using and the effect it does. Think of this similar to using a charged ability. - Like charged and regular abilities, you cannot attack twice in one turn. You can EITHER use your Runic weapon, a melee attack, OR your charged ability on that turn. Runic weapon abilities take up one of your character's turns. - Certain bosses are particularly weak to specific Runic weapons: GM notification will be posted in the rules if this situation applies! - NEW 06/06/15 exclaim You can use EITHER TWO basic runic weapons OR ONE advanced/standard Runic Weapon AND one of the special runic weapon unlocks. You CANNOT use two standard OR two advanced runic weapons (or one standard/one advanced). exclaim Runic weapons in regular RPS: - Runic weapons can also be applied to non-battle situations. They can act as data storage devices/ trackers/ seekers/ and even trapping nets. Please make sure to read what the weapon can icly do before attempting this, and it is usually not a good idea to use runic weapons on the Island for sparring. Runic Weapons in Metaplot Events: - Sometimes Runic Weapons will have special functions in orps/metaplots. - When a learned ability is activated in a metaplot /ORP, there will be notice given regarding its special effect in the event rules. Please don't use non-battle learned abilities otherwise. - Sometimes a Runic Weapon that has never been introduced before might show up useable in battle so please check in the basic metaplot rules to see which learned abilities have been activated and what they possibly might do - OTHERWISE activated Runic Weapons (unused) can obviously, still be used in metaplot battles unless stated otherwiseRunic Weapon categories:- Runic Weapons fall in different categories. Some are simple to handle and easy to use, others can be rather devastating if put in the wrong hands. Trainees and Hunters need clearance before using any of the stronger type of weapons. - Basic Runic Weapons: can be used by anyone. They have no additional requirements but you can only check out one of these weapons at a time - Standard Runic Weapons: Intermediate Trainees and Hunters must train to be given permission to use each type of Standard Runic weapon. These weapons are slightly more dangerous, and only one of these weapons can be checked out at a time. See the requirements below for each weapon. - Advanced Runic Weapons: Only full fledged Hunters are allowed permission to use Advanced Runic weapons, and only one weapon can be checked out at a time. See the requirements below for each weapon. - Please note: there are no pre-requisites to use each type of weapon, just a simple fulfillment for the weapon anyone is training for. - Some weapons overlap in requirements for example, "Basic Weapon A" requires passing the A class exercise 5 times, and "Advanced Weapon A" requires passing the A class exercise 10 times, you'll have to take it 5 times for for basic weapon A and then 10 times again for advanced weapon A. - You can only carry a max of two Runic Weapons at any given one, and only one from each category. Some Runic Weapons come in sets. When can my Hunter officially use this learned ability?- If your student has fulfilled the requirements needed for that Runic Weapon, simply post below using the Runic Weapon Permissions Grant Form After you have posted with proof of the rps/ quota needed, then your Hunter is officially able to use that ability!
