Candace was feeling...strangely better. She was even humming a happy little song as she walked across the grounds from the main building to the dorms. Maybe a little rest would do her some good, and finishing this second pint of ice cream. Oh yes, this ice cream was amazing. Candace, quit stuffing your face a minute and listen to me. Candace rolled her eyes and made a show of scooping up another spoonful of ice cream and sticking it in her mouth. I can do both at once. I'm a woman of many talents, Atropos. She told her with a chuckle, walking with the spoon hanging from her lips. What's up? Atropos sighed. While your little pow wow with Aria was touching and all you really should take it seriously. You didn't actually earn your promotion, did you. So don't be lazy. We need to rise in the ranks. I will not let you fail. Candace didn't answer, staring down at her ice cream. She couldn't fail. She had to make Aria proud. ******** what Caelius cared, or even H. He was great to play with and she did really, really want the things he offered her but she wanted Aria proud of her.

She held the ice cream in one hand and dug out her phone with the other. She would earn back her promotion. New missions, huh? That was good...very good. Alaska, huh? Ooooh! Or Mexico! Seattle didn't sound as fun and all she could think was 'Will there be sparkly vampires?' Alaska or Mexico it was! But who to bring, who to bring...

Not Jerry. Jerry could lead his own team! He deserved it. Hmm..ohhh! Would Aria like if she took a Mist with her? That sounded like a great idea! Let's see, let's see...

Lucyal
Hey Molly! Meet me in room 110 of the dorms. I've got a proposal for you. <3

Alright. Molly done. Who else...ohhh! She would love to see more of Mister Bond.

Blade Kuroda
I have a mission for you, Mister Bond. Please report to room 110. Your device shall now self destruct in 3...2...

She sent the text before she hit 1, chuckling and heading straight to her own room to wait for the two trainees. Yes, she would still be eating away at her ice cream by the time they got there. The door was left open so they could just wander in on their own.

After that last meeting, Deryk had spent some time looking over the little mission briefings that were now available. It looked like regardless, they'd get to do some traveling. And not just to Halloween. Quite frankly, he was pretty excited about that. At home, he did travel a bit here and there, but he stayed in California most of the time. It would definitely be nice to be able to see more of the world that he was help protecting.

Hearing his phone go off, he checked quickly to see that he had a text from Candace. He couldn't help but grin at the choice of wording she had.

It indeed was.

Not wasting any time, he made his way over to room 110 as instructed, stepping in to see the Mist Trainee there waiting for him. It.. looked like she was eating ice cream? Well damn. Now he wanted some.

"Bond reporting for duty! What's the mission?" he asked, not knowing if there would be others showing up.

Molly had taken a gander at the missions posted after that uh…lecture they received in the class. She felt terrible for all the intermediates that got demoted…but at the same time was thankful she didn’t get demoted…well…she was at the basic level already anyways. Thus, she needed to improve herself right? Right. Taking a gander at the missions though…she couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed. Alaska…Mexico…Seattle? They…they really could go to places like that? She hardly left the city she had been born in!

A deep frown tugged at her lips as she ruffled her curls. A lot of them she couldn’t even consider because she needed to be teamed up with an intermediate…but wait…if they all got demoted…did that mean that no one co—

Her phone went off, startling her, and upon checking it, her expression brightened. Oooh! She was being called upon by Miss Candace! More than fine with putting the mission thoughts to the back burner for now, the Mist trainee made her way back to the dorms, and upon nearing room 110, carefully poked her head around the corner, catching sight of Deryk and Candace. “O..oh hello!” She called out cheerfully. “I uh…am not interrupting anything, am I?”

Best. Ice cream. Ever. It had been a long time since she had had ice cream and it was the best thing ever to have when depressed, too. She would be okay. Everything would be alright. She'd take Molly and Deryk on a mission, they'd do a damn good job and everything would be okay. Think positively.

Deryk was the first to arrive, to which she grinned and waved him in. "Very prompt. I like it. Don't take after some of the other more lazier interme--er...trainees. I'll explain when Molly gets here." She said cheerfully, patting her bed and scooting aside. "Have a seat. I don't bite. Honest."

Thankfully it wasn't long before she spotted Molly's adorable curly-haired head poke in. She grinned again and stood, setting aside her now empty ice cream carton. "Molly~! Hi! Hmmm? Oh, no! You're just in time. Sit, sit." Candace pulled out her phone while waiting for the woman to do so, humming cheerfully. Okay, she was excited now. She could lead a team. She could do it. She would make herself proud now.

"Now. I'm sure you two have heard that because of some..unfortunate performances by a few select people, the intermediate trainees have been put under suspension, hm?" She tried not to sound bitter. It was mostly successful. "However, we're being given a chance to re-earn our promotions. We get to lead our own teams!" And there it was. Her point. "So. Molly, I'd like to make up for making you run all over the place last time. That was terrible. And Deryk, I've seen potential out of you that I want to see more of~. Would you two like to join me in..." She looked down at her phone. "Alaska ooooor Mexico~? It's up to you, and if you do decide to join me I'll let you two decide which one we investigate."

Aw yeah. She's got this.

While Deryk was trying to remember who Molly was, the girl showed up herself. Ah! It was the Mist trainee he recalled spotting at the previous meeting. He just hadn't caught her name at that time. But now he knew.

"Ah! Hi Molly. Bond. Deryk Bond is the name. Pleasure to meet you," he nodded rapidly before sitting down so that they could get a little briefing on what they were going to do. So this was being used as a means to hopefully redeem Candace. That seemed very well enough. He did like to hear that he had potential too. It made him feel good.

"Oh sweet! Mission. Mission. Let's see... Mexico weather probably better. Alaska probably less bugs. Former takes place around coastline of Cancun.. lots of area to cover. Plus need a boat. Later.. more focused in one area. I say Alaska. Plane itself may provide useful information in investigating what happened. Check last communication logs if possible. Stuff like that," the Death trainee rambled on while looking through the information of both those missions.

Now ushered into the room, Molly scurried in, and gingerly took a seat where one was available. Oh good! She wasn’t interrupting anything and hopefully she wasn’t holding anything up, either. The Mist trainee beamed at Deryk. “Hi Bon—er…Deryk!” She remembered him waving to her from the class lecture demoralizing thing. That was one good memory at least. “It is a pleasure to meet you too!”

She straightened as Candace got straight to business though, listening to the young woman intently and giving sympathizing nods of her head. As she apologized to her though, Molly waved her hands assuringly. “Ah, no need to apologize to me, Miss Candace! I’d do it all over again, honest! I thought it’d be terrible to let you go alone! AH! Not saying you aren’t capable it’s just…I wanted to make sure….Oh…” She was getting flustered, and rubbed the back of her head. She just looked oh so touched though that Candace apparently wanted to take her on a mission. “Ah! Really!? I’m honored!” She looked back and forth between Deryk and Candace. “I’m fine with whatever, honest! You just say the word!”

Candace let out a quiet squeal of delight. Deryk was still doing as she'd told him to by introducing himself properly~! Ahaha! She loved it! Maybe it was her excitement over being able to redeem herself that was making her as overly excited as she was right now. "Either way, Molly, I feel that isn't quite the best impression." Especially with how she had been scolded earlier that day for it. Candace was perfectly fine with Aria's decision, it allowed her to truly earn her place.

"Alright! Yeah, I've been to Mexico it's awesome. But I think other people might choose the Mexico mission with it being exactly as Deryk said. Better weather, it's gorgeous there, and with too many trainees there it could end badly. So Alaska it is then! ...Do you two have clothes for cold weather?" She hoped so. "Alright, you two have an hour to get ready and then we'll meet outside and head to the lighthouse to use the portal there. Sound good?" Was she doing okay? She'd never led a team for a mission like this...
PostPosted: Wed Jan 18, 2012 5:39 pm

"Yes. Have some. Had to get some with all the snow around here recently. Brr. Anyway. Will get ready. See you girls in one hour," Deryk nodded before getting on up. This was going to be exciting! He was pumped for this. Once up on his feet, he went on to head back to his room so he could get some warm clothing to wear under his hunter gear.

And when it was time, he showed up at the portal just as planned.

Oooh Miss Candace was so smart. That was brilliant! Alaska seemed like a good place to not be bothered then! “Yes ma’am!” She replied, “I have plenty of warm clothes!” As soon as the command to pack up was given, Molly scrambled out of the room and zipped to her own.

At the appointed time, Molly would arrive at the lighthouse with her coat all buttoned and her green scarf wrapped securely around her neck, along with a matching green head band to keep her ears warm and to keep the curls out of her face for her first mission. She also seemed to be toting a rather large back pack. “Hello!” She greeted the Death trainee who was already there. “I’m looking forward to working with you!”

((A 1?! Are you ******** serious. XD))

Candace was both nervous and excited. Was this how it felt to lead something like this for the first time? She actually liked this feeling! It was rather exhilarating! She just hoped she didn't mess this up; Aria hadn't given specifics in the external mission but Candace had a feeling that was because she didn't need to. In a mission like this he only failure was probably...death. She placed a hand against her stomach and frowned, for in back terribly pessimistic thoughts. No one would get hurt on her watch.

Her coat wasn't as forgiving as Molly and Deryk's but she made do, adding a hoodie and a coat underneath her hunter coat and wearing a pair of warm pants that still had leggings underneath. Candace hated the cold, really. She didn't handle it well.

To be honest Candace thought for sure she would have been arriving first, something she would have been fine with, but to her pleasant surprise the two other trainees were already there and waiting! She grinned with pride. "Hey! Impressive. Good to see you two are taking this seriously--what the.." Candace stared at the large backpack Molly was carrying, slightly dumbfounded. Why such a big bag? "Ah...supplies?" Candace also had a bag but it wasn't nearly that big. No matter, they had places to be.

Candace approached the sentry, requesting transport to Survey mission 2A and waiting patiently for the coordinates to be entered. She'd never been to this lighthouse before. It was something, huh?

Once informed the portal was ready Candace smiled and thanked the sentry, waving for Deryk and Molly to follow her before stepping through.

When she ended up on the other side she nearly fell over in the snow, catching her balance before the other two had made it over. Slippery...whoa. This was an Alaskan forest? The woman's eyes widened as she gazed upon the snow-covered forest. The crashed plane was easy to spot. "Okay, so the witnesses reported no bodies around the plane, but the seats were torn up. So be on your guard, be ready with your weapons of there's even the slightest abnormality." Candace let out a small sigh. She was nervous leading. "Let's begin.."

Candace walked closer to the plane, stepping on broken glass that crunched unhappily under her feet. Nothing unusual... "These footprints are probably just from the witnesses."

External Missions
Article Headline: Five missing in plane crash in Alaska.
*Article contents: Five people have been reported as missing, after a small plane crashed in the northern woods in Alaska, with no sign of their bodies to be found, including that of the pilot. Witnesses report that upon spotting the fallen plane, the seats were torn, as if something had dragged all the passengers out of the plane forcefully.

* MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 2A. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Each player must roll at least three times with rped reactions. Once they have "collected enough information", they can return back and submit a report in this thread.
1- 20: You search around, but don't find any obvious evidence. Just the signs of an abandoned broken plane, and footsteps around the site
21 - 40: You catch the smell of something odd - a burning sort of smell - but you can't locate where its from. The plane perhaps?
41 - 60: You decide to investigate your only lead, the abandoned plane a little more. On the inside, you notice the seats are still damp, a strange smell lingering inside. Your weapon senses the barest traces of a lingering Fear...
61 - 80: You lift up the seats of the plane, the cargo, anything inside, and find traces of thick black hair. The seats also seem to be molding.
81- 100: As you search around the plane, other than the footsteps of other investigative teams, you notice that the snow is clustered in odd clumps around the plane, almost like waves with thick and thin ridges...

((Well aren't we off to a good start?))

Alaska was definitely chilly. It was a good thing Deryk had decided to throw on a few extra layers. There was no telling how long they'd be spending at this site. Bouncing a bit in place as they arrived to the scene of the crash, he looked around. There was nothing particularly notable about the area as far as he could tell.

There was just a busted up plane as far as he could see. Though.. there had to be more to it than just that.

Right?

"See anything yet? Doesn't look like anything out of place. Not from here anyway."

Yes ma’am!” Molly chirped, holding onto the straps of her large bag securely as she then followed her fellow trainees to the light house. Where they going to take a plane to Alaska? How long would they be gone fo—

A portal?

…Was this real life?

The young woman was nearly bugged eyed as she followed Candace and Deryk through the portal. Molly sucked in a breath as the chilly, winter Alaskan air hit her fair, and her senses were overwhelemed by the sights and smells. Woah…was…was she really in Alaska? Much like Candace, she took a moment to look around, before reminding herself that she was on a mission and there were people’s lives at stake! That thought sobered Molly up, and she listened to Candace as the Mist trainee made her observations. There was something eerie to her about this plane wreckage…she’d never seen one in real life before, either.

I uh…I don’t see anything either bu—“ Molly paused, and her nose wrinkled as she seemed to catch the scent of something that wasn’t wintry or forest-y. Her brows furrowed. That…smelled like something was burning… “…Hey uh…do you guys smell that?” She pointed up at the air, as if it might help. “…Smells like something’s burning….you…think maybe someone started a fire to keep warm!?”

"Nothing just...lots of snow, lots of trees. Beautiful scenery though, right? Haha." Candace was definitely feeling in better and better spirits. She suddenly paused and opened her bag. "Ah, hang on! I've got something for you two." The woman said happily, sounding very proud of herself. She produced three headsets, putting the first one on herself and passing the other two to her team. Candace had figured it couldn't hurt to ask if they could have them and had been very pleased to hear that it was very possible. It made her happy that she wasn't failing terribly right now. Things were going well! "I want you two staying close, but should you feel the need to check something out a little further away these'll help. It's just a survey mission, so let's hope we don't have any trouble."

Candace waited for the two to put on their headsets before turning hers on. That was when she heard Molly comment on a smell, blinking and glancing her way before giving the air a sniff. Huh...it did smell like fire, huh? Or at least the remains of one. "Well...it could easily be someone at their house or campers, or hikers. But it does smell close...let's try the plane then. Maybe they're inside and no one noticed."

((Also burning scent))

Stepping a little closer, Deryk soon turned around to see what Candace had for them. Oh sweet! Headsets. Now he felt even cooler. He went ahead and put it on underneath his hood.

"Sweet, thanks. And hm?" he started while sniffing the air, "Yes. Definitely something burning. Shouldn't be plane crash. Been too long for that. Curious. Still. Worth investigating. Definitely should get closer to the aircraft."

Nodding to their lead, he started to move closer to the downed vehicle.

((81- 100: As you search around the plane, other than the footsteps of other investigative teams, you notice that the snow is clustered in odd clumps around the plane, almost like waves with thick and thin ridges...))

Molly smiled a bit. “Ah…yes…lots of beautiful scenery, ma’am!” Minus the plane crash and all. She looked over at Candace as she offered them some head sets and looked awed. “Oh, thank you!” She quickly put hers on, fidgeting with it a bit. Wow, she felt so…official!

The young woman gave a nod of her head, and trailed after the other two as they made their way closer, her brows furrowed. She stared at the trees and the debris in the snow, her brows furrowing as she tried to recall something she’d often seen on the Discovery channel. “…Um…” She started, “…I uh…don’t know if this is a good idea or not but…don’t planes usually have…black boxes?” She hesitantly offered. “…You think if we um…found it…it might help?” Did they even have the equipment to look at it out here? Molly felt stupid all of a sudden, and instead focused on the wreck as she came to a stop near an odd clump.

Her brows furrowed deeper as she tilted her head. This was really weird looking. The young woman’s hazel gaze scanned over the area, and she blinked in surprise to see that there were more of these odd clumps. “…Um…” She started again. “…I don’t know if it’s me or not, Miss Candace…but uh…the snow here is in a weird pattern…” Molly made wave motions with her gloved hands.
