Blythe wasn't exactly thrilled about her partners interests in Runic weapons. This she made clear several times along the way. Minerva wasn't exactly thrilled about her partners jealousy, but tried to keep as much of that thought at bay. And yet, despite their squabbles and disagreements-- both weapon and master seemed interested well enough to receive the text and find themselves in an area speckled with trainees.

This was particularly true for Minerva, who had found herself feeling a bit out of the loop as of late. The woman needed to get back into the swing of things as normality took hold of the island once more.. SHE felt normal, and sticking herself in her room to read for hours was normal, but it would not work to her advantage come mission time. The text from Aria, one of the higher ups she had yet to meet, would.

Rather than sticking herself along the fringes of the gathering, Minnie made way toward the first person she recognized. "Hey Deryk~" She whispered, not wanting to disrupt whatever concentration the Mist division leader may be in. It wasn't until she was in the mix of things that the trainee noticed Gale, Candace, Wilson, Reine, a few others she couldn't quite remember having formally met before, and even Dakota standing at Wilson's side.

"Hey all." She continued with a wave before lifting onto her toes to get a better look. If it happened to be overlooked due to the start-up of things then so be it. Minnie seemed to focus her attention almost immediately onto Aria, and then the boy who offered to be her volunteer.

See? You see? That's why you should only touch us, Kouki said, huffily. We would never bite you.

It's not biting, it's... something else, I dunno, be quiet so I can listen, Madison thought back, though she had to admit that the idea of a weapon that zapped her when she touched it wasn't all that awesome. Still, she kept the thought firmly away from where Kouki might hear it. The serpent-sword didn't need to know that little bit of information.

"The chain is an excellent choice," Aria complimented. "While the chain may be considered a runic weapon, don't be afraid to consider using it in other ways. In a pinch it can be used as a rope, or as a means to weigh something down. If you can get your hands on a runic lock then it can very easily turn into a leash, or as a way to secure something."

Aria moved away from the trainee and pulled out her own weapon, the knife shimmering and transforming into a flamethrower as she continued. "As a weapon there are several different ways it can be used. If the chain's links are small enough, it is possible to wrap it around your hand as a last resort sort of brass knuckle. And depending on your weapon, it is also possible to wrap it around that. Other uses include using it as a choker, lasso or whip, however these two methods in particular require practice and physical strength."

The mist division leader shifted her stance, watching Jordan carefully. "Mind you, all that is for a normal chain. All runic weapons come with an ability. Consider them a pocket Fear attack. Unlike our weapons, however, runic weapons cannot be recharged when used against a Fear creature. Most weapons can last for one use in battle before needing to be recharged by an experienced technician. Runic chain weapons in particular can prevent an opponent from attacking as effectively as they were previously. I personally prefer to swing one end of the chain around to build momentum, then release it so that it wraps around my opponent's limbs or their weapon. Please try to use the chain against me now."

Wilson gladly returned the nod by Gale and wave by Deryk as both of the other trainees arrived. Once Aria began to speak, any words on the tip of his tongue died immediately as he turned to face the mist division leader. This was only the second time he had seen the woman, but she wasn’t so bad—then again, he still didn’t know about the whole disappearing bit—and it was nice someone was actually telling them some useful information for once. He cupped his chin in one hand while he looked around to see who would volunteer, which didn’t take too long. Wilson had noticed Dakota about to get up, and he grinned and nudged his arm. “Ready to jump into things, are you?”

A girl with white pigtails glared at Dakota as she passed and Wilson threw his friend a look. “Did you do something?” Given the moon trainee’s flirtatious behavior he wouldn’t be too surprised. He didn’t say anymore, especially when he watched Jordan pick up some chains and walk over. Wilson listened intently as Aria calmly explained. It was a fair amount of information to take in, but he figured he would be able to remember it all afterwards. He hadn’t always been the best at these kinds of things, but at least he was starting to improve in that department.

Jordan paid careful attention to Aria's explanation, nodding thoughtfully. Made sense. Not just a weapon; a versatile tool. Ferros, too, was listening, his interest sparked. Both were distracted for a brief moment as Aria summoned her weapon; it looked precisely like the one that the false Aria had carried. However, this was not the time to think about that.

When Aria instructed him to use the chain to attack her, Jordan nodded; he backed off a few steps and took hold of one end of the chain with his left hand, letting the other end hang loosely over the palm of his right hand. He spun the chain to give it momentum - like and unlike wielding Ferros, using the weight to gain speed and force - and darted to one side and then in at Aria, releasing the chain with his right hand on the upswing so that it flew out towards her weapon.

Dakota eye's flat lined as Reine passed by before turning to look at Wilson before shrugging. "She's uptight over a simple gesture, I wouldn't worry about her too much. Her kind isn't worth the aggravation anyways." Dakota smiled sweetly at her before looking back up at the demonstration.

Chama sounded downright snotty and prim at the runic weapons.

Seriously Chama, I'm not replacing you so shush.

The shock he saw from Jordan had his head c**k to the side. Was that the side effect of being a bonded FEAR hunter?

Shut up Chama! He mentally shouted, intent on watching Jordan attack Aria

As the chain came towards her weapon, Aria moved her weapon to the right and reached out with her left hand, grabbing the chain and wrapping it once around her arm before pulling. The movement was followed by a spin as if she were kicking, however her foot came up and over the chain before stomping down to pull the chain free from Jordan's hands. Aria removed her foot and yanked on the chain, pulling the runic weapon to her. "Nice shot!" Aria laughed, dismissing her weapon and sheathing the now-dagger in order to pull in the chain and loop it back into order. "Aiming for a weapon is one of the best ways to disarm the opponent. Depending on the size of the weapon, however, it may or may not be possible to hit it. In the future, I suggest trying this again with someone who is distracted. Or, alternatively, aim for their legs. Many tend to forget about their legs in combat, focusing on their torso and where their arms are."

Aria hefted the chain up and returned it to the table, nodding towards Jordan. "You may go sit down. May I have another volunteer for another weapon? There is still the dagger, gun, torch, and bandages left."

Dakota jumped up now. The demonstration had been interesting enough and after watching, he wanted to try it out now.

"Mind if I try?" He politely asked. He would've thrown a gorgeous or babe in there but this was the head of the Mist team. And a lot of hunter trainee's we're wary enough around here, he hadn't come here to flirt after all.

When things got started, Deryk just smiled in response to Minerva, then paid attention to what was being said. He couldn't help but cringe a bit at the volunteer bit. That didn't typically go too well from what he had seen before. But, Jordan turned out to be pretty alright after he was through.

At the next call for a volunteer, he shifted a little nervously. Should he go? The answer was set for him as someone else took the initiative. Relaxing from there, he fidgeted a bit with his bracer, watching to see what they'd cover next.

"Done deal," Aria smiled at the trainee, gesturing towards the table. "Pick your poison, and we'll go from there."

Shifting a step closer to Wilson, Gale folded his arms across his chest and carefully surveyed the demonstration in front of him. Jordan had chosen the chain, and though it had sent a small shock through him, it was clear that these runic weapons would give them a decent advantage in battle.

"Interesting..." Gale murmured, half to himself, half to whoever was standing near.

He lapsed into a thoughtful silence, eyebrows drawing together as Dakota was the next to volunteer.

Dakota eye'd the table with the weapons. The dagger was out instantly for him seeing as the boy had Chama still sheathed at his side.

He didn't hesitate a moment longer as his hands touched the torch, bolts of electricity shot up his arm that had him wincing a little, Chama making a small squeak before turning to Aria.

"Alright..." He held it up, looking it over.

When Aria stomped down on the chain, Jordan let go immediately; holding on would be a good way to faceplant straight into the field, and while that'd be embarrassing in training, it had the potential to be deadly in combat. Even if Ferros had been caught - in that case, though, he'd simply unsummon and resummon his weapon to regain his grip.

"Thanks, ma'am," he answered the compliment, quietly proud, and nodded to the following advice; he then returned to the group of trainees, watching as another trainee offered himself up for demonstration.

The mist division leader frowned, taking a step closer to the table. "Huh, that's odd. I could have sworn I disabled the security keys on these. At most, the only thing they were supposed to have done was a light shock..." She picked up the runic gun and stared at it, eying it before putting it back down with a sigh. "I do apologize for that. When you request a runic weapon, the weapon will not shock you." A pause. "Unless you managed to piss off the person who's dealing out the weapons, then I'd be careful if I were you."

Aria shrugged, turning and gesturing for Dakota to follow her. "Either way, I am very familiar with the torch given its similarities to my own weapon. Unlike my weapon, however, the torch functions differently. In a pinch, you can use it to start a fire or to wield metal together. It also works with the runic chain, so if you can't get a lock then as a last resort you can wield the metal links together." She reached up and tapped her goggles, adding, "However, you can seriously ******** your eyes up if you do that. Plus if you use your torch to do that, it'll run out of its charge to be useful for anything else."

"In order to use the torch the way it is intended, however..." She gestured to Dakota. "Please summon your weapon and use the torch on it. The torch will coat the weapon with a fire that will last for a bit. This works on all weapons. In the case of a weapon that uses ammunition, please apply the torch on the barrel or on the tip of it. The ammo will then catch fire when used."

She paused, then pulled out her own weapon. "If you are unsure about the torch, please feel free to apply it to my own weapon. While my own weapon is a flamethrower, the torch still does work on it." She grinned, offering a shrug, "It just gives my weapon an odd appearance for a bit, that is all."

OOC

Nyx, please roll 1d4. What you roll will be the additional damage the weapon you used it on can deal. ie, if you roll a 3 then for the next TWO turns your attacks will deal an additional 3 damage if you hit.

He didn’t look particularly convinced, but Wilson didn’t think he could squeeze the specific details out of Dakota either, so he simply let it go and continued to watch Jordan and Aria. The sun hunter swung the chains before finally releasing, the metal clinking as it wrapped around her weapon. Surprisingly, Aria laughed. She seemed pleased with the action as Wilson shifted in place, confused. His expression relaxed when she continued to talk. He was starting to like her more and more, at least more than he liked Caelius or Dr. H.

Wilson looked thoughtful as Dakota became the second volunteer in Aria’s demonstration. With the moon trainee gone, he glanced at Gale as he curiously watched Dakota get shocked when he picked up the torch. Would it be bad if he actually grinned at that? “I’m eager to see what the rest of the runic weapons can do,” he murmured to Gale.

When Aria tapped her goggles Wilson reached up for his own. Gramps, you think you’d be able to block out all that light? [Course I would!] Huffed the weapon. The image of Gramps spouting fiery gas captured his imagination and all of a sudden he was looking forward to using that torch.
