Hobbies:
Painting || Taiki loves to paint. It's really his true passion in life, and if he could, he would be an art major, not a business major. Every piece of art in the home he shares with his mother was created by him, and when she's in the proper state of mind to think so, his mother is extremely proud of his art. His father would ideally see him give it up, but it makes him happy, so he allows it.
Japanese Folklore || Taiki absolutely loves Japanese folk traditions. He is extremely invested in his culture and heritage, and it bleeds into quite a lot of what he does, especially his art. He can recite back ancient and modern tales, and most of his paintings are of scenes, places, or creatures from folklore (which means a lot of them end up quite creepy.)
Naginatajutsu || Although in modern times the naginata is more traditionally a woman's weapon, Taiki learned to use it from his mother and found that he was exceptionally good at it, even at a young age. Before moving to the US, he took lessons in the traditional art of wielding one, and he still practices regularly today - although it is a little more difficult to find someone to teach him here, so he is primarily practicing independent study.
Cooking || Somewhat by necessity, Taiki has become an excellent cook, particularly in traditional Japanese foods. Since his mother is often in no state to feed them, he had to learn to do it himself, and he found that he rather enjoyed doing it. He's especially fond of doing stylistic little tricks with his food - he'll be the one to make it "cute" because why not?
Virtues:
Unflappable || Almost nothing shakes Taiki's calm. He is able to stay focused and cool even if everyone around him is absolutely losing it. This means that he is extremely good under pressure, and he would never let himself panic in front of other people. Why freak out, when all it'll do is cause more problems?
Detached || Taiki is fully able to separate himself from his emotions about a situation. It is at least partially a defense mechanism, to prevent himself from being hurt, and it's a big contributor to his ability to stay calm in any situation. It's not necessarily that he doesn't care, it's that he doesn't let that get ahead of him, and people admire his ability to resolve things calmly and not worry about letting feelings get in the way.
Dutiful || Although if he had a choice, Taiki would rather choose being an artist, he is dedicated to his duty as a good son. It means that he tries his hardest, and if he is given any kind of responsibility, he puts himself into the work 100%. Nothing is ever half-done with Taiki, because to do something halfway is to disgrace what work you did do.
Flaws:
Cold || Even though he is warmer on the inside, Taiki's cold exterior is all most people get to see. His lack of emotional displays or emotional involvement in situations can often be very offputting - and is partially cultural, but also is simply Taiki's way of keeping people out. He is well aware that his coldness often makes people uncomfortable, he just doesn't particularly care.
Distant || People do not get close to Taiki. He tends to keep them at arms' length, another defense mechanism. He simply doesn't trust people enough to let them get close to him. While he is not often rude, his calculated politeness is often a wall to keep people out. This is often frustrating to people, because they eternally feel like they don't know anything about him and that he is constantly pushing them away.
Self-Sacrificing || Taiki has very little concern for his own needs. His responsibilities are more important than taking care of himself, which often means that he will put his responsibilities to other people first. It also means that he goes without food or sleep, sometimes for several days, if he needs to get something done. This is absolutely not good for his health.

Challenge: "Are you afraid of your ghosts?"

A very simple paper lantern, with a fitting design and a strange flickering purple not-flame inside. It is not hot to the touch and the "fire" never spreads.
Squire:
A lantern on a stick, with the same flickering purple "flame"
Magic: Aokigahara Squire holds up his lantern, and the flame inside becomes brighter, bathing a six foot radius around him in an eerie purple light. Anyone within the radius, including Aokigahara himself, will hallucinate gruesome ghostly shapes - essentially ghosts that look like they died VERY violently- grabbing on them and trying to get their attention, and hear the sound of ghostly voices begging for help. These pleas will generally be nonspecific - "help me, help me please!" or "avenge me!" or the like, but it is generally fairly unsettling, though exact reactions are up to the player. Aokigahara can channel for up to 30 seconds at this stage.
Knight:

Magic: Aokigahara Knight taps the end of his staff on the ground, and around him, a ten-foot radius is bathed in an eerie purple light. Anyone within the radius, including Aokigahara himself, will hallucinate gruesome ghostly shapes - essentially ghosts that look like they died VERY violently - grabbing on them and trying to get their attention, and hear the sound of ghostly voices begging for help. However, at this stage, if the affected character has ever killed in cold blood, instead of pleas for help, they will hear accusations and condemnations from the dead - "murderer!" "monster!", things of that nature. This is generally at least unsettling, but exact reactions are up to the player! Aokigahara can channel for up to 45 seconds at this stage.
Summons: A nine-tailed kitsune with silver fur.
Magic: The fox can create up to nine blue-purple kitsunebi, which fly off in different directions and serve as a lure to draw people away from Aokigahara and his allies.

Inquisitor's Hairsticks
Physical Description: A pair of elegant, decorated silver hairsticks, Visual!
Benefit/Boost - For ten minutes a day, Aokigahara can channel the magic of the hairsticks - they will float in front of him and if anyone in a conversation with Aokigahara tells a lie, they cross like dowsing rods.
Scroll of Remembrance
Physical Description: A scroll case, containing a single scroll, with a pen and inkwell attached to the side.
Magic: The scroll is linked to stone monuments on Aokigahara's Wonder; any name written on the scroll can be engraved on one of the monuments simply by touching the scroll to it. This then wipes the scroll clean and allows for new names to be collected.

Aokigahara is a vast clearing in the center of a great dark forest, accessible only by a single lamp-lit path. (Leaving the path and wandering too far into the forest itself will result in becoming hopelessly lost.) It includes several buildings that served as residences for the Knight and the acolytes, but the primary features are a grand Shinto-styled temple and an extremely expansive graveyard.
The primary purpose of the Wonder Aokigahara was as a graveyard for the unnamed, unwanted, and unclaimed dead - those who would receive an improper, disrespectful, or no burial on their homeworlds. The temple/shrine is dedicated to honoring the dead buried there.
Aokigahara Knight’s primary duty, besides tending to the shrine and the graveyard, was to ensure the souls buried there were at rest. This often involved hunting down answers about their deaths, and Aoki was often called the Inquisitor for his duty as a solver of suspicious deaths.
