Aokigahara had taken note, early in his tenure as a Page, of how many mirrors there were in Destiny City. He suspected their purpose was related to the ever-mysterious Dark Mirror Court; the name was, after all, rather suggestive of a connection. He'd never had a chance to speak to one of them in-depth, though, and it was on his to-do list if he could get the damnable hair sticks he'd found at his Wonder to work.

Nothing he tried made them cooperate, but he liked having them with him, so even though he'd given up on actually getting use out of them until something changed, he'd still shoved them in his hair and decided to forget about them.

He hovered in front of the mirror he'd found not far from Phillipe's offices, and wondered briefly if he should do something about it. Then again, it was really just a mirror --

He felt a pull, and then a yank, and then he found himself, very suddenly, in an unfamiliar place, empty and gray and strange.

"Oh, hell," he said, under his breath. Fine. This was. Fine.

(It was not fine, but it had to be fine for the moment.)

He began by looking around, carefully, to see if he could spot anything even approaching an exit. He had no idea where this was, but surely if there was an in, there had to be an out.

Conversely, Slate chose to avoid mirrors. He disliked seeing how tired he looked, how haggard. How worn. He disliked the reminders of his brother in his own facial construct - his eyes slatted so, his nose a boyish caricature of his brother's more defined nose. Their jawline, while firm, was nearly identical between them. But no one would know, because no one had seen his brother in months.

So he didn't want to look at mirrors anymore.

Then, more recently, his reasoning shifted. He still disliked mirrors - he didn't mind how he looked so much anymore, but observing his reflection brought with it a sickening peculiarity. He looked different somehow, though he could never articulate why. The answer always escaped him, even as he looked it dead on. Something changed. Something so foundational and intrinsic and it left him so utterly disturbed that he couldn't yet name the deciding factor. Or maybe his similarity to his brother still had something to do with it. Slate remained so incredibly unenlightened over this problem that he simply didn't know how to think about it, how to proceed with it.

So he stopped looking in mirrors. Mostly.

There were times, of course, where he couldn't stop a quick glance. Sometimes shopkeepers posted mirrors in their shops, or he would be trying on clothes and have to take that glance to ensure a good fit, or he and Porsha visited a restauraunt that had those wall-length mirrors to make the inside look bigger. And then he'd have to see himself. And it was weird. Every time.

And this was one of those very times. Facing down a mirror, he struggled to look solely at the cut of his pants instead of at the haunting similarities dancing in his countenance. He kept looking toward his eyes, searching for some yarn of explanation, even as he forced himself to examine inseam length and fit. Finally he gave up with a sigh, turned around, leaned back toward the mirror -

and fell in.

And then he wasn't Slate anymore.

The heavy weight hanging from his head was his first clue. His clothes were his second. He was Ochre now, and this wasn't Kohl's anymore.

"What." He asked of the walls, which only changed and widened and shored up in response. A cursory look around the room confirmed not much was in it, but for a purple squire who looked just as confounded. "Uh… You don't… Know what's going on here, either? I was kinda trying on clothes and then this happened?"

Aokigahara was surprised, to say the least, when he was, very suddenly, not alone, and not alone with one of the Negaverse's Senshi on top of that. His first instinct was to be wary; Chaos was, after all, not to be played with or underestimated. This Senshi, however, didn't seem particularly dangerous; he wasn't moving to attack, and he looked more confused than anything. Which, well, Aokigahara was confused as well.

He let himself relax a little, internally, though his expression was still as bland as he could make it.

"I'm not certain," he admitted. "I was examining a mirror left outside and found myself pulled into it." He glanced around, again. Still no sign of an exit, even where his surprise companion had come from, just as there'd been no sign of his own entrance once he'd been deposited.

"Well," he said, blandly, "this is inconvenient." To say the least. There seemed to be no human hand to this, and that was less than pleasant to contemplate. If no one knew where they were....

"Have you ever encountered anything like this before?" He asked, and he hoped the answer was yes but was very, very prepared for it to be no.

Auric antithesis aside, the other occupant wasn't interested in attacking him. Just as well; Ochre wasn't sure what a battle would do for either of them in a situation like this. Then again, there were probably White Moon senshi or knights out there who were willing to fight to the death in a closed space just to be sure their adversary wasn't making it out alive somehow… Even if they died in the process. Or maybe kill their adversary and live off the meat of their corpse until they found a way out. Or were rescued, somehow, from a room with no doors and no windows and no skylights and no stairwells. Yeah, that'd work out.

"Um, I've never seen anything like this, no." Ochre folded his hands into his lengthy sleeves while he looked about for anything of note. All he found, however, was a lilting layer of smoke rolling over the walls and ceiling. Sorta like the place was burning, he supposed, but there was no fire and no smell of combustion. "But, I mean, I was looking in a mirror too. And then I ended up in the same place. So that's got to mean something? Mirrors aren't really Negaverse territory, though, so this isn't some kinda weird hush-hush operation."

If anything, he supposed, mirrors seemed like they'd be in the Dark Mirror Court's territory, with the name and all. But he hadn't exactly met enough of them to really remember that they existed. So, maybe not them.

"But, I'm not really thrilled about the idea of waiting around for a rescue, you know? Maybe we can… I dunno, find some special hidden doorway or something.

"Oh, and, I know you're a knight and I'm a Negaverse senshi, but I'm totally okay with calling a truce and not killing each other until we, you know, find a way to not be stuck here forever. Fighting in here kinda seems like a waste of time. And there's not really enough space for a real fight…" He drawled out the remainder of his sentence before yawning.

He stopped then, perking slightly. "Oh, and I'm Ochre. What should I call you?"

Aokigahara considered himself lucky - this corrupt was obviously fully willing to be forthcoming, and wasn't planning to attack him for no reason. It was startling, how reasonable the Negaverse could be once one decided to be reasonable with them. There certainly wasn't, so far in his experience, the stark lines others had insisted must be drawn.

"I've heard of a group that calls themselves the Dark Mirror Court; I suspect this might be their doing, somehow." He said. "The name is rather suggestive, after all." Perhaps they were both thinking along the same lines, since clearly neither of their factions were to blame. Unless this was some bizarre Wonder; he supposed that was theoretically possible, but the pull that drew him here had felt nothing like the Code's.

So, probably not.

"I would rather check for exits than stand around," he agreed, and the offer of a truce got a polite nod. "I suspect we would do ourselves more harm than any kind of good by fighting. Also," he said dryly, "I'm aware officers are capable of pulling starseeds, and frankly I think that gives an advantage I'm not likely to overcome." He extended a hand as an offer of peace.

"My formal title is Aokigahara of Saturn. Aoki is fine, however." A slight, actual smile crossed his face. There were, he supposed, worse people to be trapped with than a reasonably chatty Corrupted Senshi.

Ochre conceded the thought. "Yeah, they kinda fingered themselves when they named themselves Dark Mirror." He paused, considering his words. "Uh, that came out weird, but you know what I meant, right? Not like they… Not like that." Biting his tongue, he hid his bashfulness.

He was better suited to searching, regardless. he approached one of the blank walls, sighing at its indomitable mass. He pushed on it a little, then a lot, then he considered throwing his shoulder against the wall like it was a door, then decided against it. The wall wasn't a door, and if he tried movie-logic here, he might just end up breaking his own shoulder. And showing this squire that the Negaverse really had s**t-for-brains when it came to any sort of thought situation. Though, they kinda already gave that impression for all their failings in the past.

But whatever. He sorta had a reputation here.

Ochre paced along the wall with his hand trailing against its smooth surface. He relied on tactile feedback in his search for seams, yet received nothing. Even the smoke offered no great clues to exit. "You're right about the starseed thing, by the way. I mean, it goes south for pretty much everyone who gets close. But I also kinda don't like doing it?" Again, he bit his tongue.

"But I'm not finding anything. Are you?" The only discoveries made were that he was unduly bored in such close confines, and growing increasingly tired by the minute. Time spent wandering the halls seemed like time wasted. And he had enough hair to form a decent pillow should he decide to take a nap… "I mean, we could probably wait until we're rescued or something." Or I'm rescued. It'd kinda end badly for you.
