Hyperborea walked along the streets under the glow of street lamps. The glowing transcendent knight was about to finish up her patrol when she felt the small ping of a Saturn page's aura.
She decided to check out the aura in case the page was new and needed direction. So she headed towards the owner of the aura.
She found the page, his uniform seemed to have a Japanese style to it. "Bonsoir." She called out to the knight.

The bright aura of a Transcendent Knight was a deeply comforting thing. Aokigahara had not felt it often, but he knew it as soon as he did - and so when she arrived, while he didn't greet her with a bright smile or excessive cheer, he did give her a polite bow and something approaching a small smile.
"Hajimemashite," he said, since she had seen fit to greet him in her native language - it felt an appropriate response to greet her in his. "I do not think we have met before. I am Aokigahara, of Saturn."

She returned the page's bow with a small curtsy of her own. She didn't speak Japanese but she knew enough from watching anime to at least understand his greeting. She gave him a friendly smile.
"Hyperborea, Transcendent knight of the Cosmos and leader of the Heralds of Peace." She introduced herself after him.
"We have not, I wanted to see if you needed any assistance or anything. I remember it being difficult as a page. How long have you been powered?" She asked curious.

It was always nice to find someone willing to be polite. Aoki found himself smiling a bit more, relaxing slightly in this obviously young Knight's presence. He was beginning to think people like he and Scholomance were outliers; so many of the people he had seen fighting were so young.
She was a full Knight, so there was no reason to assume she was anything but fully competent, and so he tried to ignore the faint instinctive desire to take mild insult at the idea that he needed help. Especially since she introduced herself as a leader.
"I've been a Page for about eight months - I like to imagine I know what I'm doing, but it is difficult, yes." No magic, only a mildly useful weapon, and there were people who could and wanted to kill him. "I don't think I've heard of the Heralds of Peace before. Are they all Knights?"

"If you have any questions I can try to answer them." She offered, though if he had been powered for eight months he probably already had a good grasp on things. She did wonder why his wonder hadn't promoted him yet, did he not power up often. She was curious but she felt like asking would be rude so she refrained.
She smiled, she was happy to talk about her brigade. "We're pretty new, and yeah we're all knights. We want to try to end the fighting here on earth and restore the wonders to what they were before the fall of the silver millennium."

"Ah, one question - not so much informative, merely curiosity. Have you experienced any sort of strange phenomena on your Wonder?" She was obviously fairly experienced, age aside, and she might have heretofore unexpected insights into the behavior of Wonders.
Not that he was feeling particularly eager to explain the increasing severity of the haunting on Aokigahara - but perhaps she wouldn't press too much about why he was asking.
He considered her statement of goals, and his own work at restoring his Wonder. "That sounds admirable. I have been...working to restore my Wonder, but the process is slow."

"hmm." She considered his question for a moment. "Well there used to be a miasma from some corpses that was polluting my wonder and blocking its flow of magic. I used my code piece to burn away the miasma and in doing so I almost lost myself to cosmos. For a brief moment I became one with the entirety of my wonder. That is how I got these marks." She said motioning to her transcendence lines.
"Are experiencing memories, if so don't worry that's normal. It just means you're a reincarnated knight and you are remembering your last life there." She offered figuring that was what he was talking about.
"The damage done to all the wonders in the past is great but with time and effort they will heal. That's part of why I formed the Heralds, I believe we knights can do so much more together than we can acomplish alone." She said earnestly.

Well. That certainly qualified as strange. Not the kind of strange he was thinking of, but...up there. Aokigahara just huffed out a small "oh," because, really, how else did one respond to "I played with forces far beyond my control but it's fine, I'm fine."
He found himself vaguely worried about this child's safety.
"Ah, I'm aware of the memories, I've had those - that isn't quite what I meant," he admitted. "I...gather, from speaking to others, that the specific things I have experienced are a rare, possibly unique phenomena." He shrugged, briefly. "My Wonder is an ancient graveyard. As sometimes happens with such spaces, it appears to be haunted." Be as casual as possible. That would hopefully result in fewer questions. "Perhaps as a result of a thousand years of damage and neglect, or perhaps it was always that way, I cannot say for certain."

Hyperborea never really gave much thought to the dangers of her messing around with her code piece, after all it had worked and she was still alive and well. Better for it even, since it transcended her, she definitely would do it again given the chance.
"Hmm. I wonder if it is like ancestral haunting." She mused to herself for a moment before she realized Aokigahara might not know what she was talking about. "If you're a descended knight like I am you're ancestors starseed can remain on your wonder and their ghost can remain there. I wonder if something similar is happening on your wonder, perhaps the people of Saturn buried their dead with their starseeds a thousand years ago." She theorized.
"Or if that isn't case perhaps it is a side effect of something being wrong with your wonder, just like how my wonder's magic was messed up by the corpses on it perhaps something similar is happening at Aokigahara." She offered as an alternate possibility.

"Another Knight suggested the same possibility," Aokigahara acknowledged. "Short of digging up some several hundred corpses, though, I'm not quite sure how to confirm it or what to do if it is the case." How did one move on a whole graveyard's worth of starseeds?
Not easily, obviously.
"I'm not even sure what it was for - you'll pardon me for guessing, but an ordinary graveyard does not strike me as the sort of place to require a Knight, even if it is a fairly large one." He knew what Aokigahara was on Earth, had even visited, but clearly Saturn was not the same. "I wish I had more than bits and flashes of recollection of my past life. It would be...much easier, that way."

"I would offer to consult with my ancestor but it seems like a long shot that a Cosmos knight would know the purpose of a Saturn wonder. But I do agree wonders tend to have greater purpose to them." She thought of how her own wonder was meant to direct starseeds to the cauldron.
Then an idea struck her. "Forgive me if I'm being presumptious but would you be interested in joining my Heralds. Perhaps together we can figure out what is happening with your wonder and if something is messed up we can work together to fix it." She offered.

Aokigahara hummed and nodded. "A long shot, I agree. I suspect this will be something I have to discover for myself." Perhaps that would be part of his rite of passage, and the understanding would come with time. It was his Wonder, after all, best that he suss out at least some of his secrets by himself.
Her offer was a tempting one. Operating mostly alone had gotten him nowhere in eight months. A team would be...welcome.
"I would like that," he admitted. "How many do the Heralds number?"

"We're still a small group, only a handful so far. But hopefully with time our ranks will fill." She answered honestly. She had a bright smile happy to have another comrade in arms.
She offered her hand out to him. "I'm glad to have you join my team Aokigahara of Saturn. Please if you ever have need simply call me and I'll come as fast as possible." She assured him.

Aokigahara nodded, taking Hyperborea's hand. A small beginning, it seemed, but one that could be built upon.
"I will. Thank you, Hyperborea of the Cosmos."
To be part of something that mattered. That sounded wonderful.
