Arsenolite went out on another late night excursion, feeling the need to do something. And if he was going to do something, he may as well continue impressing the Queen. He wanted so badly to please her, to ensure the safety of the future of the Negaverse, and that required so much work from him that it almost would've sucked if the end goal wasn't so tantalizingly awesome.

Suppressing a yawn, he stalked the night, feeling like a dork for talking to himself in, like... comic book talk. Or whatever that was.

It was then that he sensed the Squire aura and he smirked. Oh, good. Someone to take. If he could go from civillian starseeds to knight starseeds in a short amount of time, that would surely get him noticed again.

So he made his way forward, towards the aura, as quietly as he could manage. He wanted to try and take them by surprise as much as possible.

Aokigahara had been considering, since his recent encounters with Negaverse officers, that he might need to, perhaps, take some time to reconsider his goals. His anger over the destroyed starseed had fueled him, but he could only do so much running on hatred alone, and that was not actually, per se, a practical stance to take. There were many reasons that it might be worthwhile to extend a hand, to want to make peace with the supposed enemy--not least because not everyone had to be an enemy forever.

He thought of Yomi. Felt a jolt of guilt. What might have happened if someone hard-line had decided to attack him while he was Lapis Lazuli, and had scared him off purifying? Perhaps nothing could have kept him in the Negaverse forever, but might his exit have been delayed?

The thought was not a pleasant one, and so Aokigahara made a sort of resolution to himself to try and avoid making that sort of situation worse. He could, at least, avoid attacking without provocation, as he'd done to the Lieutenant he'd terrified into fleeing.

He walked as he contemplated, and felt the tickle of a captain's aura on his senses, and he frowned. He moved away from the center of the street and into the shadow of a tree, calling his aspect to cloak him in darkness--better to hide a moment, wait and see, before he got into a fight this time.

Arsenolite frowned as he emerged into the area that the aura was, peering into the dark. He couldn't see anyone, and he was certain they were nearby...

He nocked an arrow, keeping his bow aimed. He wouldn't be caught by surprise. Even if he was, he had an arrow ready to fly and if he was lucky, maybe he'd hit the throat of whatever son of a b***h was out here so he could take their starseed.

"Come out come out wherever you are!" he taunted, "Don't you care that I'm out to kill people tonight? Try and stop me!"

He... had no idea if they would fall for it, it just felt so obvious and cliche like a movie villain, but hey, if it did work, he got a good fight out of it.

Ah. The Lieutenant from before, except now he seemed to be a Captain, armed with a bow, and a braggart. And he was boldly declaring his intention to kill. Well, at least that meant Aokigahara didn't have to agonize or worry over what he was doing, and there was no reason for him to hesitate further.

He took advantage of his Aspect's cloaking for a few more moments, to allow himself to get closer in to this particular target. And then, he dropped it once he was well and within range to use his magic, though he didn't deploy the spell just then..

It would be less of a shock, this time, certainly, but that didn't necessarily mean it would be less effective--or, at least, Aokigahara hoped it wouldn't be. He rather wanted to see this Captain squirm as he had before, though perhaps a new rank and a new weapon would make him a little bit braver.

Too bad, if so.

"Am I to assume that your answer has change,d then? To the question I asked you the last time we met?"

If he was bragging so boldly about wanting to kill, it seemed likely that he had already taken a life.

How disgusting. How pathetic. And this--this was what the Negaverse rewarded.

Arsenolite grinned again when someone stepped out. Oh, lovely. The Squire that had terrified him so much not that long ago. Now, though, he knew what to expect from this guy's creepy magic, and he felt more like he'd be able to tolerate it. The freaky movie effects were nothing more than that, and he had his mental defenses up high. They wouldn't matter to him.

"It sure has," he said in a sing-song voice, winking roguishly, "Finally a Captain and took my first starseed. About time, right? I mean, really, it took me so long for no reason, not when I'm more powerful than them. It's not like I killed someone who volunteers at animal shelter, either. This dude sucked."

He would've shrugged, but he kept his bow aimed carefully at Aokigahara. The very second that Squire moved, he'd let his arrow fly.

"Oh?" Aokigahara said, raising his eyebrows. "Is that so? So you're the ultimate arbiter of who lives and who dies, then? The judge, jury, and executioner?"

This was likely to be very bad. An arrow could do quite a bit of damage; Aoki was not eager to see what would happen if this one tore through him. Still, he would have to stand firm, and possibly take the hit, because he suspected Arsenolite wouldn't simply let him leave.

"What do you even know about him?" Aoki asked, raising his eyebrows. "You've decided he sucked, and therefore was deserving of death--what gives you the right to decide that?"

And with that, he called on his magic, siccing the gruesome ghosts on Arsenolite once more.

Quote:
Aokigahara Squire holds up his lantern, and the flame inside becomes brighter, bathing a six foot radius around him in an eerie purple light. Anyone within the radius, including Aokigahara himself, will hallucinate gruesome ghostly shapes - essentially ghosts that look like they died VERY violently- grabbing on them and trying to get their attention, and hear the sound of ghostly voices begging for help. These pleas will generally be nonspecific - "help me, help me please!" or "avenge me!" or the like, but it is generally fairly unsettling, though exact reactions are up to the player. Aokigahara can channel for up to 30 seconds at this stage.

"One of them," Arsenolite answered, flinching a bit as the ghosts came into being. He swallowed hard, pushing down the feelings that suddenly rose up, and re-aimed.

"What gives me the right is the same thing that gives me the ability. I can, and therefore I will."

He exhaled.

The arrow whizzed through the air.

The ghosts clawed at him and he kicked them away as best he could.

The arrow sank into Aokigahara's shoulder, and he hissed in pain, knees buckling briefly, but he forced himself to stand back up. He would not show weakness in front of this monster. Absolutely not.

"Someday, someone will judge your sins as you judge others," he said, and his voice was ice cold. "I hope I'll be lucky enough to see it."

His instinct was to flee. He was not in a good position, and he could only hope that his magic would serve as enough of a distraction as he ducked back into the dark--he'd be able to stop channeling eventually and swap back to his aspect fore a slightly stealthier getaway. Or, so he hoped.

Arsenolite scowled and the ghosts vanished and he realized Aokigahara was long gone. Well, fine, he'd at least hurt him enough to send him running home or whatever.

Stupid ghosts.

He sighed, now being too tired from the experience to do much more tonight, but at least it was over with. He could go home and sleep.
