[[Follows If We Met at Midnight]]

It was definitely colder outside than in the cafe, and Aokigahara was deeply glad for his multilayered uniform. He was at least spared the majority of the chill, even on the roof.

He turned to his companion. "How exactly does this work, with two people?" He asked. "I've only been once, and that was entirely by myself." He had a myriad of potential guesses, but it was much easier to just ask someone who knew more than he did. There wasn't always shame in needing a little guidance. Besides, better to ask than to stumble around.

There would be plenty of time for embarrassing stumbling, he was sure, when he was on his Wonder and glancing over his shoulder constantly to make sure he wasn't seeing ghosts or zombies or whatever other horror movie monsters might be there.

Scholomance faced the cold air of January with as much aplomb as a man proceeding to his own execution. He did, however, keep light spirits when responding to his Page comrade's inquiries. "It's simple," he mused as one gloved finger drew to touch his own chin. His gaze strayed outward toward the horizon while he walked toward the center of the rooftop. "We just need to hold hands and jerk each other off.

"Or, more accurately, just hold hands. From my experience, physical contact is enough to take someone along with you. Well, physical or magical contact. The latter is... Less than preferable. Anyway," he broke off as he turned to face Aokigahara, gesturing toward him with an outstretched hand, "it's useful for transporting willing parties. And miscellaneous goods, if you ever want to commit to a long exploration. I took up some supplies to Scholomance not terribly long ago, and considering how much there was, I don't think there's a weight limit on how much you can take with you. I don't know if there's a limit on how many people can hitch a ride, however; that's an experiment for another time. Hopefully that answers some questions."

Destiny City was terribly cold that night, and Scholomance fostered little patience for it. He hoped the page would accept the answers given without further inquiry; he wanted a change of scenery as soon as possible, in hopes that Saturn fostered a warmer climate. His own wonder trips often confirmed stagnant air, which at least meant that wind wouldn't be clawing his body heat away from him.

Aokigahara could prove an entirely different story, however, as there were a plethora of weather patterns present on the much smaller Earth; the other Wonder may speak of high winds and constant tornadoes compared to Scholomance's deathly quietude.

Aokigahara regarded Scholomance with a raised eyebrow and not much more. He supposed there were worse things than mutual handjobs, and he suspected anyway that it was an attempt to fluster him. He moved to join the Squire in the center of the roof.

"Physical or magical contact, understood." Aoki could already imagine how magical contact might be less than preferable - casting, he imagined, was generally done on one's enemies and to accidentally drag them to a Wonder...yes. Definitely less than preferable. "So a handjob would work, but would be a little more personal than strictly necessary."

The rest was interesting, but he wasn't planning a long trip just yet, so mostly it was filed away for later consideration.

"Well." Aokigahara reached out and placed a hand on Scholomance's arm, taking a breath and reciting the pledge that would carry him to his Wonder.

In a moment, they were there, landing a few feet from the torii gate. Aokigahara had to suppress a shiver, trying not to notice how eerie the silence was. Nowhere on Earth was quiet like this, not in his experience, especially not shrines. It looked relatively unchanged, except for his own efforts at clearing the graveyard, and he wasn't sure if that was troubling or reassuring.

For all that Scholomance expected of Saturn, he didn’t explicitly assume that it had a distinct religious identity, though he was still surprised to come to face with a distinct eastern religion vibe. The torii gate was recognizable for what it was - most people knew the large red structure for its relation to Japan - but to find it on Saturn seemed impossible.

Yet here it was - evidence of Shintoism over a million miles away.

„This is different,“ Scholomance commented largely to himself. The forest was distinct from Scholomance’s own wonder for their liveliness, casting a distinct green hue all around the space. The maples known from the marsh offered not a single leaf for his indulgence, even after his continued visits to Scholomance. Perhaps these trees were somehow different, or had better access to water and favorable conditions over the long span of a thousand years. Scholomance couldn’t begin to guess. „I’m surprised you have trees here. I haven’t seen anything like that on any other part of Saturn. There’s only been… Maybe one place with living trees that I know of.“ And that wasn’t anywhere near Saturn.

„It does… Fit Saturn’s modus operandi of creepy and desolate.“ Scholomance agreed as he laced fingers against his stomach. „Foreboding and inaccessible just like all the other parts I’ve been to.“ It was, perhaps, most like Mont Blonc’s wonder in its nature-bound location with a small alcove of civilization. The graveyard itself looked far gone with weeds and destruction, leaving behind only a few markers of any worth.

„To be honest with you, I’m surprised that the corpses hadn’t surfaced after a thousand years of weather patterns. I guess you don’t have to worry about burying all the dead again.“ With a dark smile, Scholomance ushered Aokigahara forward. „Well? Don’t keep me waiting. Give me the grand tour.“

The sooner they surveyed the place, the sooner they could leave - and leaving sounded like an excellent idea.

Aokigahara's Wonder was remarkably quiet that night, compared to his first visit. As he led Scholomance around, pointing out places of interest - though carefully staying away from the honden building, because although he was fairly certain he was as close to a priest as this place had, he did not want to risk angering whatever was haunting it by bringing someone else into sacred space.

The closer they got to the graveyard, the colder Aokigahara found himself becoming. It was alarming to feel the temperature drop that way, and he found himself glancing around, waiting to see some further manifestation of the dead that clearly still lurked here.

He was, quite rationally he felt, glad to have someone there with him. Scholomance was more experienced, and was, if nothing else, a second person to confirm that this was happening and Aokigahara was not losing his mind.

By the time they were done, Aoki felt...reassured, of a sort.
He was not mad, not hallucinating, not experiencing some strange residual magic effect that applied to him and him alone.

That meant he could begin looking for ways to put whatever was here to rest.
