History:
Wykla never knew who her father or mother was. If she’s ever met them she didn’t know it and treated them like any other Weyrfolk. During her earlier years, Wykla was raised with the other young weyrbrats in the crèche. Unlike the others, she preferred to spend her time playing quietly. Most game she invented for herself or others were meant for being quiet. Because of this she was lost in the background and played by herself. This suited her just fine.
Once she was allowed out into the Weyr on her own the first thing she did was go exploring. Anywhere she could get to had to be found and examined. She discovered several secluded spots that she liked to call her own. When Wykla wanted to be alone these were where she went.
When Wykla was big enough she wandered to the top of the Weyr where the herdbeasts for the dragons and runners were kept. After several days of observation she picked up a brush for the runners and slipped into a stall. Luckily it was a placid mare that had no problem being brushed. The main caretaker happened by and noticed her. He didn’t say anything then, but later pulled her aside to caution her of the dangers. She enjoyed spending time quietly with the runners.
Now Wykla has just celebrated her 12th turn. Word recently circulated the Weyr that the gold had finished laying her clutch. She, like any other weyrbrat, had to go peak at the eggs. Uncertainty had filled her chest at the sight of the eggs. Would she be considered old enough to stand? To Impress?
Despite her uncertainties, the young weyrbrat was on the sands for Gold Feynath's Alpha Clutch. She watched dragonet after dragonet Impress to her fellow candidates. Wykla was not destined to find her dragon among this clutch, and received instead a scoring on her right thigh. Her recent acquaintance Ralae Impressed to Green Zabreth.
A turn older, her second chance to stand came around in Gold Ianath's Delta Clutch. Several of the candidates she knew, Jarest, Pazzult, and Mercy, all Impressed dragons. Much to her surprise, Wykla Impressed Blue Kameth.
Description:
Wykla still has some growing up to do. She’s flat chested not that she minds much right now. Very skinny and at only four feet tall she can be described as lanky or unfinished. Her clothes tend towards earth tones with an obvious favoring of black. Long pants are definitely preferred to skirts. Sturdy boots and a shirt with sleeves she can roll back complete her daily outfit.
Her skin when she doesn’t spend much time outside is an off white. Odd eyes often cause remark. One is pale sky blue while the other is a dark hazel. However, her most prized feature is her long, lustrous black hair. It cascades down her back in large waves to reach the small of her back.
Personality:
Wykla comes off as a solemn and self contained child because of her quiet nature around other people. She tends to hold herself aloft as she watches daily activity. If you catch her when she thinks she’s alone, you’ll find that tends to speak to the animals. She feels she can be more open around animals than people. They at least won’t make fun of her if they find her thoughts funny.
Her personal hobbies include daydreaming, reading, and hair vanity. Daydreams include bonding an atypical dragon and/or flit with her favorite version being a matching pair. She likes to spend hours reading about adventures of past dragonriders in the scroll room. This only helps to fuel her daydreams. If nothing else, Wykla has a hair vanity. Hers specifically. She loves to spend hours, if needed, washing, drying, and styling her hair. It must have a luminous glow and fall perfectly whether framing her face or dancing in the breeze. In short, she seems much like an airhead.
Unfortunately, reality comes back around in the form of chores. These are simply a necessary evil and must be endured. That is until she can slip away. If not watched closely, Wykla will find something else she’d rather do. Her least favorite chore involves anything in the kitchens. Because she has a tendency to do her own thing it brings down the wrath of authority. Her problem with authority is a problem in itself. She doesn’t like to obey just anyone.
When she is given an order by someone important, such as the Weyrleader, she will tend to obey almost immediately. However when the order is given by somebody not so important she tends to snub them. If she can get away with it, she’ll just walk away. Otherwise she’ll appear to do what was asked then slip off the first moment they’re not looking. When she gets caught and called out on her failure to do something she is sullen and belligerent. Often arguing back with who ever to try and get herself out of it.
Her least favorite chore is cooking and for good reason. Anything she makes or helps prepare doesn’t taste right. Even with someone right over her shoulder it always comes out wrong. At first look, Wykla doesn't appear to have any strengths. She's not particularly strong, she doesn't have a prefect gift with animals, and she certainly can't cook. On closer inspection one realizes that she has a fairly excellent mind when it comes to problem solving. This is particularly true when she’s finding ways to get out of an undesirable chore.
Extras
When asked about flits, dragons, and whers the answer is different for each. She doesn’t mind any color of flit and will rub oil on a patchy spot if asked. Dragons she feels are alright, but she has a definite preference towards atypical colors. This leads towards a favoring of atypical’s and their riders. However, when it comes to whers her response is completely negative. She doesn’t like whers at all, any color.
Wykla’s favorite time of the year is when storms come in. She loves the stormy weather along with the great heights of the cliffs. Excitement courses through her veins when she stands at the edge of the cliff. Wind gusting from an oncoming storm and laden with the smell of rain. The roar and voice of the ocean as its whipped to fury.

Name: Kameth (Fact! He is named after Kamet, the 29th highest peak on earth. Its parent mountain is Nanda Devi, in the Himalayas)

Personality: Kameth is an introverted, aloof soul, not given to extremes of emotion; he expresses affection sparingly even with his rider. This isn't to say he doesn't love his rider as much as the next dragon or that he cares nothing for others, he just sees no need to go around shouting his feelings from the mountain peaks. He loves them, he knows that, and he assumes they know it too so there's no call to go around whittering about it all the time.
This distance he puts between himself and others, however, will limit him in forming friendships unless those around him can accept him on his own terms, and not demand more affection than he wants to display. His aloofness isn't all bad though, as it makes him a very hard dragon to ruffle; Kameth's voice is one that will almost never be raised in anger, and he will not make rash decisions in the heat of the moment. This calm will also make him good at dealing with failure; if at first he doesn't succeed he'll sit back and think about it for a little while before trying again.
Kameth also places great value upon his freedom. This isn't to say he'll skip lessons and drills, he knows far too well how important they are, but he will not appreciate being told to just sit down and shut up by a leader; if he has an idea he will tell them about it, and if they don't seem to be listening he will tell them again. Kameth being Kameth this will all be done in a very calm, non confrontational way of course, but it still has the potential to get him into trouble with a superior short on patience.
The only place where Kameth's own patience will be thin is waiting to fly. Every dragon knows they belong in the sky, but for Kameth every moment he can't take wing on a whim is a moment when the world isn't right. The weyrlingmaster can expect to be asked when they will be learning to fly just about every day from day one, and Kameth's rider will have their work cut out persuading him not to try too early. He will listen to reason on the matter - reluctantly - but until he's allowed to soar in the sky there will be a deep sense of longing within this blue, especially when he looks up at others on the wing. Until that first flight he will spend as much time as he can up on the clifftops watching the clouds, waiting to be among them.
Why Me?
Wykla and Kameth are a solemn, aloof pair; each is bright enough to know they are loved by the other, so not too much ever has to be said on that score. Other people will no doubt come to feature in their lives as time passes, but if it takes a while then they have one another for quiet company. Wykla will still be able to get away with skipping the chores that Kameth doesn't think matters, but he'll see to it that they both get their duties done when it does.
Another similarity these two have is their attitude to orders; Kameth is quite happy for Wykla to ignore people who aren't all that important, and when people who are important give the pair orders they don't like, the pair of them will argue their point to the end. Finally, the fact that Kameth will not be a suffocating presence in young Wykla's life will allow her to develop on her own, rather than being molded by a dragon who needs to force their way into every little aspect of their lifemate's mind.

Boreal  This dark bronze seems to be the exact opposite of his mistress. Where Wykla is suspicious and wary, Boreal is outgoing and friendly. A happy little flit that is hard to upset. When he finds she's upset about something, he feels the best cure is a good oiling and cuddling. He is very loyal and would do anything for his girl.

Fescues  Much like her sire, Boreal, this little green is a chipper flit. Fescues loves to be treated and will work hard for them. Her diligence makes her ideal for learning commands. However, occasionally she becomes distracted and goes off course.

Journal Entries While avoiding my chores in one of my hiding holes in the back caves I met another weyrbrat. Her name is Ralae. I caught her going to peek at the eggs. We struck up a truce and went to look together. I don't know, but there was something about her. She gave me the courage to go up and ask if I could stand for the Hatching. A couple days ago Ral' took me with her to go check a flitter's nest. It turned out to be a gold's and she let us stay and watch. We both ended up Impressing a flit each. Ralae managed to get the baby gold and I got a bronze. Though I didn't know it at the time. He was so dark and it being night, he could have been a brown. It wouldn't have mattered. I love him. He is my sweet Boreal.

They let me touch the eggs! I'm not sure what to think really. I didn't get and real close attachment to any of the eggs. It was odd really. Does it mean I wont Impress? Lots of kids get attached to an egg, but only one will Impress it. I think it's just what we want to feel, not really what is. The hatching will be soon.
Hatching!
I stood for my first Hatching last night. The clutch decided to hatch in the middle of the night. I was of course feeding Boreal on the OTHER side of the weyrbowl at the time. Hush Boreal you know your a glutton. All the eggs hatched into dragons; there was even three atypicals! It was a very good clutch but I didn't find my dragon there. The girl I mentioned earlier, Ralae, did Impress, to a green. I think I'm happy for her. I'll admit I was jealous at first and kinda angry. It really wasn't her choice but the dragon's and I cant really blame her. If I had a choice I'd still like to be friends.

I met a new girl in the Weyr today. Well actually it was by the lake, and I was washing Boreal. We sat and had a nice chat while I oiled him. Her name is Mercy and she was at the last hatching too. We're going to stand together next time. It'll be nice to have someone to stand with. And she's even going to move into the bunk next to mine! The barracks have been pretty empty since the hatching.
She's been working with the healers, so that explains why I haven't seen her much before. >.< The healers would Never let me in there. I'd be sure to break something. And.... I don't want to work with ill people. Well Mercy should be done with her chores. Gotta go and help her move!

I was upset about something and came to my bunk looking for my favorite hairbrush. I was going to spend a candlemark brushing my hair and talking to Boreal. But when I got here, I couldn't find my brush anywhere! And I really looked. It turned out that no matter how hard I looked I never would have found it. A green dragonling had snuck into the barracks and taken my beautiful brush. Boreal saw her.
So, Boreal and I went looking for it. I was sure he'd recognize the dragon when he saw her and I could demand my brush back. Woe was me when I found out it was Zabreth, Ralae's green dragonette, who'd stolen my favorite brush. There was teeth marks in the handle and the black bristles were all broken or fallen out.
I was so mad at her! At them both! How could she let her take it? *sigh* But the damage to my brush was already done. Ral threatened to tell the Weyrling Master on Zabreth. I couldn't let that happen and told her so. So she promised to help me get a new Journeyman brush with her own marks and let me pick something from Zabreth's pile. But those belonged to other people didn't they? Shouldn't they be returned?
Then to my utter surprise...... Zabreth spoke to me! I couldn't believe it. She sounded almost like Ralae. I couldn't be mad with her after that. I think it'll work out. Ralae is my friend.
