Going clockwise from the gold egg
Bold 'n Gold Egg - This egg is a mellow gold colour with a bright stripe down its very center. The egg sits upright, tall and proud, royal. It seems to enjoy the perfection of its posture and an undercurrent of irritation may be detected but at who, or what, it is directed is unclear. Gold Ianath to Inaari
Half and Half Egg - Half red, half orange this egg stands proud as well. However, it has an easy sort of pride, perhaps even noble. If the egg is any indication, it will likely be a bronze or a brown.Bronze Pioth to Soldekai
Purple Spotted Egg - This egg, for all its brightness and busy patterning is quiet. It lays on its side as if distracted, pointing off to where activity always seems to accumulate. Perhaps it is curious? Its size indicates a green or a blue, perhaps a small brown. Green Filanth to Tiepet
Brown Patchy Egg - It's been noted this egg tends to move a lot, wiggling this way and that, turning from one egg to another... but touching it never seems to yield the same impression twice. Regardless, a strong wit and intelligence is easily felt from this small egg. Some have guessed it to be a green or a blue. Green Galianth to Rhilira
Grapejuice Dip Egg - This egg is dark, but settled in the center of a cluster, tilted just slightly away from the larger eggs behind it. Again, this one is proud and seems to enjoy the company of a woman's touch. It's small for an egg, almost certainly a green. Crimson Moriath to Kleos
Orange Art Splotch Egg - The shell on this one is bright and contrasting but those who draw dear note a sort of anticipation within. Awe, impatience... it's as if this one has plans for the outside. A decent size, this could be a green, a blue, or a brown. Green Zabreth to Ralale
Abstract Bowtie Egg - This egg is bright, bold, and strong. It's set forward in the bunch and seems content with that positioning. A feeling of confidence, and of being in control is almost certain to greet a curious hand. Its size indicates a green or a blue. Green Lalaith to Kentori
Teal Swirl Egg - A pretty shade of teal, this egg has refused to remain upright despite any attempts to correct it. However, it stands on its top end, bold and playful in this display. Some worry about it, others laugh. Either a green or a blue. Black Challiath to Zinzel
New Day Egg - This brilliant egg is a breath of fresh air. Calm and pleasant, it's almost like taking that first stretch in the crisp morning air after a good sleep. New days bring new promises and this one is full of such pleasantness. Probably a green or a blue. Green Zinth to Alirien
Inner Light Egg - The light green spotlight dot on this egg almost looks like it's glowing from the inside. Those who touch this egg will find it friendly and welcoming. Perhaps its shell is indicative of the dragon within? A blue or a brown, judging from the size. Blue Pumuth to Alurel
Grey Speckle Egg - This egg is, well, irate. Grumpy, it leans away from the friendly Inner Light egg and towards its neighbour... though it doesn't seem particularly happy about that egg either. Disapproving and, perhaps, set in its ways, this egg is sure to be a strong willed individual. Either a blue or a small brown. Blue Easath to Ciril
Red Slash Egg - In a word, this egg is angry. Why? Nobody really knows but something's sure got its temper up. It leans towards the Grey Speckle egg as it challenging it, and anyone else nearby. It's size belies the fierceness, however, and is almost certainly a green or a blue. Blue Fanth to Arelly
Event Horizon Egg - This egg is all shades of blue, but there are stripes of a light, stark blue cutting across the bands. It's a tiny egg, definitely a green, but despite the size there's an almost ridiculous sense of vanity about this one. It huddles with the other larger eggs, and strains to be seen for it should be seen, right? Silver Cavenath to Therion
Royal Bands Egg - Though this egg is tilted away from the Bold 'n Gold and Half and Half eggs, it isn't because of a dislike. Indeed, the Half and Half egg is resting upon the Royal Bands egg as if supported by it and the tilt enables a better view of the new queen's egg. Indeed, this dragon is content and supportive, welcoming to any touch. It's size indicates a brown or a bronze. Brown Capeth to Lothan

Feynath hadn't slept for three days now and her constant guard of her clutch was a sure sign the eggs were close to hatching. Nobody, however, expected the great dark gold to start thrumming in the midnight hours. Her calls, proud and anxious reverberated through the halls and caverns, waking dragons and the sleepy silence of a Weyr at night was quickly filled with the answering thrum as more and more dragons answered her call.
It wasn't long before the first adults began to arrive, taking up positions along the periphery of the Sands to watch the event. Feynath's clutches were known to hatch at odd times of the day but this was one of the worse ones so far... most of the Candidates were fast asleep.
Thankfully a skeleton crew was kept on hand once Feynath had begun her vigilant watch and those in charge of the Candidates went scrambling to assemble the prospective new riders. The racks of robes were pulled out and lined up in hasty precision and Eirlyn looked on with pride.
She patted her dragon's shoulder as she looked up to meet H'trel's gaze. Firieth had caught Feynath three times in a row now and the drill had become a familiar one to them. They worked well together and the fact that neither H'trel not Eirlyn spoke against the rumours of their being weyrmates only strengthened the public opinion of their capability.
Indeed, Malvren had been lucky these past few Turns. Other Weyrs on Pern, especially the Old Weyrs, were not producing as many golds and the number of duds were on the rise. Of course, for the more liberal Weyrs that meant more Atypical dragons joined their ranks but for the traditional ones... it was beginning to hurt. Already, Malvren had transferred the previous two golds that had hatched to other Weyrs after Ista and Fort had begrudgingly sent requests to the New Weyrs for golds.
The world of politics was tense, as was the norm, and Malvren seemed posed to be in a place of prestige. If lucky Feynath continued to produce queens that is.
Meanwhile, the Candidatemaster was parading around the candidate barracks, banging a large spoon against a pot in what could only be decribed as the most annoying, and loud, alarm the candidates were likely to come across. A firm believer in action, Bluerider G'ten didn't give the waking Candidates a moment to think as he bellowed, "Eggs are Hatching! Get Up and Out NOW!" time and again.

Just shortly before the Candidate master had made his entrance into the room, Azuran had been begrudgingly aroused by his flit chattering incessantly at him. "What are you going on abo-" he had started to whisper back irately when suddenly the Candidatemaster barged in, creating a large ruckus and announcing that the eggs were hatching. Oh! That explained what Drakell had been trying to wake him for. The teen quickly jumped out of bed, narrowly avoiding getting tangled in his blanket and tripping as he did so. As quickly as he could, he grabbed his robe and dressed before rushing out toward the hatching grounds. He was careful not to accidentally crash into any of the other Candidates or weyrfolk as he did so.
He could hear it clearly now, the hum which reverberated through the Weyr. Even though he had been to Hatchings before in the past, the excitement of the event never seemed to evade him. As he made it to where the Candidates were supposed to wait, a trill behind him caught his attention. "Drakell," he said with mild surprise and exasperation as the brown flit landed on his shoulder. "I'm sorry, but I don't think you can be with me for this. Go wait in the stands for a bit, ok?" The firelizard pouted a bit, but complied with the request and winked Between. He waited along with Zeren as the other Candidates dressed and gathered.

It was the humming that woke her. For a moment it filled her dreams, and hatchlings bounding towards her filled her mind... but then she was awake and dressing, hardly even aware that she had sprung out of bed. Excitement and nervousness thrummed deep in the pit of her stomach in tune with the rumbling of the dragons as she hurried alongside her fellows to the hatching sands. As soon as the signal was given Kleos stepped out with her heart hammering, and bow deeply but briefly to the mother queen as she approached the eggs to stand at her appointed position.
As the first egg cracked a smile spread across her lips, no a grin! New life; new beautiful life. People said it was best for a queen to hatch first, or at least a bronze, but to Kleos this elegant lady of a dragon was just fine. Her eyes so bright with wonder, what a mind this one must have! Who would she choose, though? She would need a bright person, one who shared her fascination with the world around her... Or perhaps she would choose an introvert, one she could draw out of her shell just as she had burst free of her own. Of course a part of her willed the hatchling green to come to her, the desire to be chosen was strong, but whether or not they were right for one another only the green could decide...
It didn't make waiting for the young dragon's judgment any easier...
Ah, not for her. Still, she managed to be happy for the dragonet and the newly Impressed rider; there were plenty more eggs to hatch yet after all.

Ashmere stifled a small yawn as she found herself walking towards the stands, she like most harpers tended to have a knack for knowing things just as they were happening. Wiping her eyes slightly with the back of her hand, she was on pins and needles for the candidates and truly she was excited even if she didn't show it outwardly. Today, for some lucky lads and lasses they would begin new lives, they would be dragonriders. She grinned wholeheartedly as she approached the area that was surrounding the hatching grounds, there was already a veil of intensity so thick she would have sliced through it with her dirk.
Getting a good spot on a higher bleacher the young harper pulled out a piece of hide and draped it across her lap, if a muse suddenly claimed her she would not allow it to flee, she owed each and every single dragonet on the sands its own song, and she fully intended to give each and everyone just that.
With eager open eyes that were now fully awake she gazed fixedly on the first of the eggs that began to show signs of movement, she could feel herself holding her breath, as she peered in awe as the egg shook several times before cracking with a small green snout. Inwardly she cooed while biting her lower lip, the sensation of watching made her feel just like a candidate, she was nervous and eager to see whom would impress the little adorable green. There were so many young ones down on the sands, the little green would surely choose well, Ashmere lightly scrawled some words about the little dragonet, she used the term 'creative', it was a word that seemed to fit perfectly.
Chuckling lightly the meek harper continued to watch, with every moment she felt more pride swell in her chest, she was glad she was part of Malvren Weyr.
