Shedrawn was finally growing used to his little firelizard crawling all over his torso. He had recently decided to invest in thicker shirts the next time he could go shopping. The little claw marks were unacttractive and stung like you wouldn't believe. Alas, Isdrayon did love to crawl all over him, acting like he was exploring a new continent each time he went around. Lucky for Shedrawn he wasn't very heavy yet and didn't pull his shirt overly far down, so Shedrawn could wait for a while until he could get stiffer fabric. After spending an entire night, literally, looking for the bronze flit he wouldn't leave Shedrawn's shirt, never mind his side. So at least he couldn't complain about that. Shedrawn was going to raid the kitchen's for breakfast for himself and his newly acquired flit and on still sore feet walked over to the area where all the wonderfully enticing smell were coming from.

Wykla had gotten up early that morning to a loud, insistant croon. She knew right where to go to get a ration for a hungry flit. Thus she entered the kitchens with a bronze on her shoulder and a green on her arm. The girl smiled as the flit leaned toward the plates of food as they passed.
"No, there is something better for you over here." A bowl filled with small meat chunks for two flits rested beside the bowl with her cereal and cup of klah. She fed the flits with one hand while snatching bites with the other.
Boeal took a bit of meat and chewed. A young man coming over with a baby bronze got his attention. He crooned to the other.

Isdrayon swiveled his head as Shedrawn walked toward the place in the kitchen where firelizard scraps were kept so he could request some. He thought nothing of it until a stopstopstop feeling cae to him, he jerked, immediately looking around for whatever could be more important then food to a hungry, baby firelizard. " I thought you were hungry?" he asked. LookLook was the answer. All Shedrawn could see were normal things, a rider and his hatchling a girl with a green and a bronze firelizard, a few of the cooks, (who were now staring slightly at his odd behavior.) "What?" he asked.
In answer Isdrayon, perched on his shoulder currently leaned over slightly and stretched his neck out as far as he could, right in the other bronze firelizard's direction, a perfect scaly arrow. Shedrawn glanced at the girl who he remembered as Wykla, the blue Kameth's rider. A pretty dragon, Shedrawn thought, remembering the hatching.

Hearing her boy calling out, Wykla looked around. She noticed a boy coming with a young flit on his shoulder. Had he been at the Hatching? Wykla thought he might. Her arm waved, "Hey! Get your boy a bowl and come sit down over here."
She went back to filling the two flits bellies. Boreal was very calm about it and often let the baby green have two or three bites in a row. Wykla was amused by how caring he was, but decided she should have excepted that.
When he came over she nodded. Politely she waited until he'd given the bronze his first few bites. "He looks like he hatched within the last couple of days." It was her way of probing.

" He was from Boreal and Cheer's clutch, I think those were their names, I was a little excited," Shedrawn blushed as he stuffed the little firelizards face. "He has already led me on a merry chase, I was up all night looking for him and he was asleep in the storerooms." Shedrawn laughed, and jerked his fingers back quickly least they be mistaken for a lump of meat while he wasn't paying attention. he refilled his stash and waited for Isdrayon to chew. Shedrwn pulled out a chair and settled down beside the friendly rider, "great job at the hatching, by the way, Kameth is quite lovely. Who are these two?" Shedrawn curiosly indicated the two firelizards.

Wykla nodded. She was right! The little flit was from the same clutch as her girl. Her lips quirked as she listened to the flit's endeavors. "Sounds like he'll be a real handful. You'll need to keep an eye on him. I'm glad you found him safe and sound."
"Thanks, I think he is too. I don't believe I know your name." She couldn't recall running into him. The young girl gave a mischievous grin. "This little green is Fescues, who came from the same clutch as yours, and this boy is Boreal." Her teeth flashed as she waited for him to make the connection.

(DING!) "Boreal?? Oh cool. You did that on purpose!" he gave her a pouty look, reserved for the worst offenders. " My name is Shedrawn, I was at the last hatching. I came from the Harperhall." The green firelizard was a pale blueish green that reminded him of the ocean right before a storm, " I have never seen a firelizard close to that color, its intriguing. Out of curiosity, how did you come across Boreal in the first place? he seems to have a lovely temperament, and quite intelligent too as he knew Isdrayon was his." Shedrawn's eyebrows knitted together, this was interesting stuff. He took a break from stuffing his firelizard to stuff himself with a fat roll he had got from one of the cooks who took pity on him.

Wykla laughed. "Ok, so maybe I did. Nice to meet you Shedrawn. You already seem to know me, but I'm Wykla." She popped a couple more pieces of meat into the two flits. A gentle prob toward Kameth proved she'd fed him enough this morning; he was contentedly by the fire sleeping off his latest meal.
"Oh, a friend and I were out late one night hunting a 'lizard clutch. We stumbled across it just as they were hatching. In fact, she Impressed the gold of the clutch." Wykla rubbed her cheek against the bronze head making him croon happily. "He is. Boreal is just a sweet heart through and through. Plus he'll do stuff for me. I've trained him."
Seeing him trying to eat, she offered a piece of meat to Isdrayon. Fescues gave a squeak of protest.

"That was lucky to find a gold clutch in the sand," Shedrawn remarked. He mumbled a heartfelt thanks to Wykla as she momentarily distracted the bronze, who looked at Shedrawn for confirmation, before he accepted the chunk of meat from Wykla. The bronze apparently satisfied Shedrawn didn't mind what with the roll shoved into his mouth, then daintily (out of character for him at feeding time) took the proffered chunk of meat from Wykla. Shedrawn swallowed and took up the feeding again.

"Actually it wasn't in the sands. We think the queen moved sand up onto the rocky out cropping over yonder to keep people away from her clutch. She got a tip off from a rider who'd seen the nest." Wykla grinned as the bronze accepted the meat. To sooth her chittering green, she fed and petted her.
"He seems like a nice boy. I'm glad you got him." She nudged Fescues' belly then petted her when she cheeped for more. "Oh, I think you're full enough. Any more and you'll pop." Wykla cuddled the green until she dozed off.

"I've never herd of them putting the nest on a cliff, ingenious as long as the eggs stay warm. A smart queen makes a good clutch and I'm so very glad she did." Shedrawn could est more of a roll now as Isdrayon's scarfing had slowed down, and SHedrawn decided he was about done, one more peace so he could remove the rest of the meat from the glutton's sight. "He is a nice boy , and I will happily say I will never be bored, EVER again with him around." Shedrawn innocently looked at the flitt who was now searching half heartedly for the food. "It grew wings and flew away," he told the flit. Did not Shedrawn could just barely hold onto the smile, and it managed to curl the sides of his mouth just the tiniest bit. So he looked t Wykla again. "Where is your blue? You would think he would be here demanding to be fed just like these ones." Shedrawn inquired.

Wykla snickered and pointed toward the fire. "Look close. See that blue lump? Yeah, its him. I fed him early and a lot. He'll sleep it off most of the morning so I could focus on getting these two fed." She scratched Boreal's eyeridge making him croon with delight. His eyes whirled a happy blue.
"Having practice with Boreal really helped. With him being grown he isn't nearly so demanding. So while I feed Kameth, I give the really tiny pieces to her and it helps take the edge off." Wykla seemed pleased with her tactic. She wasn't overwhelmed by their hunger. Things would get easier still as Fescues grew and Kameth could feed himself.
She started to eat heartily now that all her friends had been taken care of. After this would come bathing and oiling. That was chore that would only get bigger. At least now she'd have two helpers instead of just one. Being short did have disadvantages.

"Really?" Shedrawn grinned. "I'll have to remember that tactic, it's a good plan, with what seem to be excellent results." He complimented her. "So do you need some help oiling everybody? I have to do Isdrayon anyway and I would love to get some experience with a dragon." Shedrawn inputed. Isdrayon raised his head at the word "oiling." It was his second favorite part of the morning besides eating of course. And he trilled in anticipation of the BRONZE worship ritual. Sending happy bronze thoughts to Shedrawn. Oiling!

"Yup. It doesn't matter nearly so much with an adult flit," Wykla pointed to Boreal perched on her shoulder. "But I didn't expect her while I had Kameth. It works out quite well as long as she gets enough tiny bits to help hold her over." Maybe her method would some day help Shedrawn.
She pondered his question as she finished off her breakfast and klah. When she did it alone, having all three to do, sometimes she didn't finish until noon. It would be nice to get a bath and get clean herself before lunch.
"If you'd like to help I wouldn't say no. I really need help with bathing. Kameth has such large wings." She giggled as the baby bronze trilled and Boreal hummed. It seemed they both liked it. "Do you want to change first?" The sooner she started the faster she might get done. Boreal was awake so she'd start with him.

"I'll help, and these are my grubby clothes, so I'm all set on that front, but i do have to go grab my oil." Oil! "It's a good thing adult flitts are not so hungry all the time, although when he wakes me up, he can keep a handle on it, until he sees or smells it, then he is toast. That is why i remove it from his line of view." Shedrawn chuckled. "It reduces temptation." He excused himself from Wykla's presence and dashed of to get his oil.
Isdrayon seemed to like the presence of Wykla, the other flit, and his father because he slithered onto the table when Shedrawn stood. And it took him a while to realize his had left (blames the full stomach) then he squeaked and took of after him. Finding him he latched onto Shedrawn's back snuggly. And wouldn't let go until Shedrawn returned to the trio.
