Personality She feels empowered due to her heritage and is very proud to be an Alkidike. While she is usually enjoyable to be around there are sometimes when she can be quite snippy with others. In general her overall outlook is a happy one but she does have some bad traits too. She can sometimes be short tempered if the right buttons are pushed. While seven times out of ten she will try to walk away there are a few times where she will think being rude will cure all. Speaking ill of her family, friends or even her race can gain someone her ire. Most of her outlook on the rest of the world's races comes from the teachings of her mother. While she was not taught to hate, she usually stereotypes others unless given a reason to see them differently. For better or worse. Since she wasn't born before or during the war she again learned about the Obans from her mother. While she is biased and sees them more in a bad light than good, she still applies the theory that if shown a different side they might not be so bad.
Regarding her relationship with her elderly mother, she feels that her family unit is normal. Much like others she has a doting mother and a normal childhood. Since her mother loves her so much V'demhe doesn't feel as though she is missing out on anything. Though it has made her into a bit of a spoiled brat. Being an only child to a mother that caters to her, she sometimes will pout or throw a small tantrum when she doesn't get something she wants. While they don't last long they can sometimes draw attention since she will yell and stomp her feet.

V'demhe was gifted to her mother in her older ages. Years spent trying to find a partner to have a daughter with had prevented her from seeking a babe sooner. When finally she realized her standards were too high she sought out the blessing of Aisha to have a child in her image. Upon receiving the lotus that held her precious daughter she placed a necklace around it; a sign that it was loved and wanted. In her dotage V'demhe's mother would rock the lotus before going to sleep and would always make sure the coloring of the petals was pristine. When finally her child was introduced into the world, the necklace that had been placed around the pod was then placed at V'demhe's neck.
She was very much spoiled by her mother and it sometimes shows. While her mother knows she shouldn't overly dote on her child, she cannot help it. It is this spoiled behavior that led to V'demhe leaving the safety of the isles on her own when she was just a youngling. Feeling that she was strong and independent enough to make the trip on her own, she never considered to let her mother know where it was she was going. It was on this adventure that she met a very pretty colored Alkidike mixed girl. One she is determined to have come home with her.
After she grew and met the hybrid girl again she thought she had developed deeper feelings for her and confessed them. V'demhe was let down gently and the two remained friends. Since she was on her own personal mission to find a decent place for her mother and her to live on the mainlands she explored Jauhar. As she searched she soon came upon a youngling that was playing in the jungle alone. Knowing how dangerous it could be she took it upon herself to escort the young Matorian home.
This was her first meeting with Virain. After she returned him home to his worried mother she thought she would never see him again...
Life threw her a curve ball when she was sent on a mission by the elders to deliver a child that was gifted to a sickly Alkidike sister. However, the child was of mixed descent and was in danger from the extremists that had flourished in her tribe. V'demhe had a choice to make in life to either hand the defenseless youngling over or to protect her. To the aspiring Amazon the choice was an easy one to make. She protected the baby. In doing so she gained herself some scorn as well as deep wounds.
Wounds that would heal due to the help of her hybrid friend. Dem had passed on from prentice to blade but was laid up at the healers house from her own stubbornness. And here it was that fate decided to toss another curve. The child she had walked home had grown and Aisha saw fit to cross her path with his.
Fondness was something she was familiar with. Liking someone based on their actions and personality was easy for her. But this feeling caught her off guard and she soon realized that she was different from her sisters in another way. V'demhe had fallen for someone outside her tribe, sure, but the fact was that person was a male. Now with her feelings revealed yet again she hopes to find some calm before the boiling storm. A storm that would cause her to have to raise hand and weapon against her own.
Dem fought in the battle against the extremists, though she did her utmost to not hurt anyone. There was even a brief time when she tried to speak to the young mystic, Aselia, and show her that understanding was more becoming than hate. Things did not work out the way she hoped and she watched as some of her sisters were shipped away into exile. They had been sent to an island that had been recently re-discovered though it was already inhabited. A strange looking earthling tribe was there. One with olive skin and glowing eyes. Enough to perk one's curiosity.
Hope was not lost, however, as V'demhe explored her new feelings for the water tribesman, Virain. As it turned out she felt more than just a little attracted to him. Before too long she was introducing him to her earthly and spiritual mothers, as well as seeking a child with him by her side as her mate.

Alkidike
Long, pointed ears, black, bug-like eyes, and antennae characterize this completely female species. Their skin is a consistent pale yellow blending into green extremities, with blue markings. They loom above most Earthlings, standing at around a head taller than most. Their antennae are much like those belonging to an insect's. They're long and flexible, but not muscular; although they can twitch and be moved slightly, they are not strong enough to be maneuvered to any great degrees. They are, however, capable of picking up trace vibrations in the environment, which is what makes the Alkidikes such excellent hunters.
This unique band of sisters originates from Chibale Island. At the center of the island is Aisha, the shimmering, brilliantly blue tree from whose rich, pink, lotus-like flowers every Alkidike is born. A strong-willed tribe of warriors and mystics, they consider themselves to be the oldest species and, thus, have deemed it their duty to explore the entirety of Tendaji.
Although they return to Chibale to breed and perform spiritual rites, the Alkidikes have settled in Jauhar, the rainforest on the mainland. They primarily dwell within the smooth, violet trunks of the tallest, straightest, most awe-inspiring emergent trees in the region. Entrances to their vertical homes are often hidden underground amongst the trees’ deep, intricate networks of roots. The Alkidikes can travel easily through their trees, allowing them to access the upper canopy, where food is particularly abundant.
These women feel entitled to the land and do not appreciate having to share their home with the Shifters. A tension has been created through this dissension that has turned Jauhar into a bloody battle field on more than one occasion.
Religion: The Alkidikes worship the great tree Aisha as their mother and creator. While they might recognize other deities as the creators of other species, they find the pantheons of the other tribes to be foolish. They believe Aisha to be the supreme ruler. After all, she is a living, tangible part of Tendaji from which every one of their people is born. To them, this alone is enough proof of their racial superiority and entitlement to the entirety of Tendaji, not just Jauhar.
Government: The Alkidikes are run by a group of matriarchs, the Elders. There is no set number of Elders, nor is there a specific age at which one may obtain this rank; Alkidike women obtain this status by proving themselves as leaders within the tribe. Every so often, an Alkidike will show great spiritual promise. These few are the only ones not required to follow the warrior path. Although the Elders have a say, the tribe looks to their spiritual leader and mystic (currently Eshe) for guidance in dire situations or in things on which the Elders disagree.
