What a lovely day this was! The sky was so blue, so deeply colored that it nearly matched the patches of lighter blue of Xewai's skin to the point where he felt like he and the sky blended together. And the sea and all her beauty just shimmered in the gentle midday sunshine.
Speaking of sunshine, Xewai found himself in his canoe today, paddling down the shoreline towards V'deme and Masika and all the other's home, hoping that he somehow managed to catch them before they were to leave to the north. After all the stress he had been through the past few weeks, it would be fantastic to see them again! The young waterling even managed to put together a gift for the family in the form of a massive bag of his home made rock candy. Having traveled to Oba in recent weeks, Xewai managed to pick up a few new sweet extracts to add to his recipe and knew fewer children more happy to try it! The bag was full of little sticks covered in all sorts of colored sugar and he took a lot of willpower not to start eating it while he paddled down the coast.
It had been just a short while since he found himself more magically inclined than he had first thought. And even shorter still when he found himself with a staff given to him by Ubeli'ae herself! He was so thrilled to share this with his dear friend and her mother. Maybe he could show off his bubbles! Or maybe he could try to start a water fight! They would have fun, he was sure of it! The breeze must have agreed with him too, since before he realized it, he was hitting the shore several dozen feet from their home. From here he could already make out V'demhe and Masika's forms outlined in the distance, and after dragging his boat further onto the shore so that it wouldn't be swept away, he tied the huge bag of candy to the end of his long staff. Hoisting the dangling bag of treats over his shoulder, Xewai made his way down the shore, waving excitedly at the mother and daughter duo.
"HEYYY!! HI GUYS!! I brought something for you!!"

After the fishing trip that he'd gone on, one that had been as eventful as it was fun, Gahiji had slipped off to go on a hunt of his own making. He hadn't gotten a good weapon to bring along with him as Kinte was so strict with guarding them, but at least he'd been able to snag himself a knife. It wasn't the best thing in the world but it would have to do. He couldn't really complain since it was something... and he was going to be the most powerful man alive one day and in his hands even a fiddly little knife would be as a great sword. Grinning a bit he trotted along, eyes scanning the area for something interesting to hunt. The one thing he wanted to hunt the most was... well, it was gone. It was probably the worst thing ever, that the giant yaotl was allowed to get away, but he'd get it next time. So instead of that, which would be the greatest prey, he supposed he'd have to settle for something else. A snaptrotter or a bushi, perhaps?
He was thinking this as he suddenly heard a voice calling out, one that caused his fin ears to twitch rapidly, and he was instantly squatting down. Moving forward on all fours he approached the sounds. Time to see wht was going on, who was out here, and if they were those that were possibly worth challenging.
A quick scan of those before him had him humming to himself. One of them was a girl he'd guess was about his age... and she didn't interest him all that much. She was young, she didn't seem to carry a weapon, she seemed to squishy. Now what about the others? The boy, a Matorian, had a staff in hand... so some sort of magic slinger? Not exactly what he saw as the sort tht he wanted to fight since he wasn't a warrior. Now what about the last one. She seemed interesting enough, a lot bigger then he was for certain. Giving a grin he started to move forward as quietly as he could toward them.

If there was anything Xewai was proud of, it was certainly his smile! Oh, and of course his reaction time. In the brief moment he had before Masika ended up in his arms, he dropped his staff and the bag of candy into the sand, safely off to the side where neither of them would trip and fall onto it. Luckily, his arms made it around her waist no problem, and instead of falling into the sand he swung her around a few times, laughing.
"It's good to see you, Miss Sunshine! And you too, Ms V'demhe!" he called out over her shoulder before setting her back in the sand. He just couldn't stop his beaming, as he pulled away to retrieve his staff and the bag from the sand.
"I brought gifts! And I wanted to show off what I've learned since I've been gone! " Xewai didn't have the same sensors that the Alks happened to have. That, and whenever the ocean was near he felt as if his senses were stifled unless he was actually in the sea. But the shoreline, where his feet touched both sea and sand... Everything just seemed so fuzzy.
"Were you two training? Training for what?"

Gahiji's ears gave another flick as he watched those before him as he moved. The big woman, she was giving orders not only to the really strange looking girls, as though he had room to talk, showing that she was the leader of this group. She was the one that held all of his interest now, finding that not even the big, toothy beasts were as interesting as she was. She seemed to command them as well meaning that she was the alpha of alphas as far as this group was concerned. The strange girl ran off to attempt to tackle the Matorian... and the magic user dropped his staff which made him that less interesting to Gahiji. Now unarmed and playing with the unarmed girl merely showed him that they were like pups to the alpha female.
His hand tightened on the hilt of the knife that he carried and instantly he went from crawling along through the hot sand to charging toward the woman. She was the one that he had to fight, every cell in his body was screaming that. Compared to the others in this group she was the only one that really held any interest to his now very focus, very battle hungry mind. It was battles like this that his lived for, that he longed for, and finally Kinte wouldn't be able to hold him back. This wouldn't be a repeat of the failed battle against that yaotl!

It wasn't until the kid who had dashed up lunched for V'demhe that Xewai was alerted to his presence. He didn't scream, nor did he shout in alarm, as there would be no point. Instead he let his bag fall to the stand and quick stepped forward as Masika tried to dash forwards to her mother. His staff was dug into the sand before her, blocking her from advancing forward.
"Don't." His words were calm, but commanding, and he placed a hand on her shoulder once she came to a full stop. "Look, he was no threat at all. Stay back, okay? Your mom is more than capable of fighting. but you, you are not, sunshine!"
Now that the other kid was subdued for the time being, Xewai stepped fully infront of Masika, his staff at the ready, approaching both V'demhe and the squished boy beneith her.
"Well... Hello there, friend! Why in the world would you attack Miss V'demhe?" Honestly, for most attacks he had witnessed, this was probably the least threatening he had witnessed. It was really just some kid, wasn't it? They even looked to be about the same age!

Gahiji was post surprised and somehow delighted as the big woman flipped him over and all but buried him in the sand with the force of her movements. He lay there for a moment, starring up at the woman with wide pink eyes, before he found himself released. He rolled up and onto his hands and knees. He looked up at her, then to the side where the other two were standing. The magic slinger seemed to be holding the other one back to keep her from getting any closer.
As the woman referred to him as 'just a child' his temper flared, with him scrambling to grab his knife once more, before he bounced back a couple steps. He shifted into a fighting stance, starring at the big woman again, "I am no child." He said, taking a step forward. He could hear the other one calling out to him, referring to him as 'friend' for some reason before asking by he would attack 'Miss V'demhe'. So that was the giant's name? Alright, so now he knew he thought to himself, glad for the information, though he wouldn't say as much. Instead he gave the woman a once over before moving again, once more lunging at her.
This was the sort of battle that he was looking for, the sort where the opponent could toss him around, because that made it all that much more exciting! His heart was thudding in his chest at the moment as adrenaline flooded his veins, making it impossible for him to stop now.
