After the hectic event that was a "family" meal at her house, V'demhe offered to walk the young boy back to his boat. In fact, the Alkidike had told the others that they had to clean up after dinner and then tidy the house just so she could have another moment with Xewai. She had a favor she wanted to ask of him and in order to do so she needed to speak with him privately. "Come on, Xewai, lets walk." Her tone was gentle and she held her hand out for him. Dem only hoped that he got the hint so that she wouldn't have to pick him up and drag him out. The time it had taken everyone to eat had given her time to really think about the things she learned about the boy and his.. group. Now she just hoped they would be able to help her with one small thing.

Xewai was a greedy young boy when it came to food, especially food that was cooked by a mom. He never really knew the love of a mother (in his mind he had something greater), so when he could find someone willing to treat him like their own, he relished in it. But only too soon was the experience over, and he was now saying his goodbyes to everyone. Everyone got a hug, every kid, starting with Masika. She was special though, so once he went around, and ended up back at her, she got another, longer hug with a promise to see her again.
He hadn't been expecting V'demhe to offer her hand for the walk out. Of course he willingly took it, smiling and waving to the gang over his shoulder before exiting the house.
"Thank you again, Miss V'demhe! It was SOOO tasty! I'm sure as soon as I get home I'm going to go to bed so warm and cozy with such a full belly!"

She waited for him to say his goodbyes then nodded as he spoke to her on the way out the door. Once they were out of range of the others she let go of his hand to place her own on his shoulder. "I am glad you enjoyed the meal." V'demhe was at least pleased that the boy had gotten a good meal. "Xewai.. I wanted to walk you back to your boat because I have a favor to ask." From there she went silent and waited to see his reaction.

Xewai wasn't sure what to make of the situation as the mood seemed to change once they were a bit away from the home she lived him. It didn't quite frighten him, but there was something off about it. Then Dem spoke once more and it made sense.
"Of course, Miss V'demhe! What is the favor? As long as it doesn't involve stealing, murder, or generally hurting people, I can see what I can do." Xewai had once too often said he'd do anything for a person, and he was NOT a liar. But of course it didn't go well... So now he'd wait and see what he could do after adding those restrictions. He wasn't about to steal from some poor merchant again... That was awful!

She didn't really need those restrictions, since she wasn't going to ask that anyways. If V'demhe needed any of that done she would do it herself. Still, her head gave a small nod before she continued. "I just need you and your.. group.. to find someone for me." The Alkidike made sure to look at the boy with a very serious expression. "You cannot tell anyone about it either." If nothing came of the search then she didn't want anyone to get their hopes up. Dealing with a heartbroken child was not something she wanted.

V'demhe was one of the last people Xewai would have guessed needed his own help. She seemed so strong, so able to to do anything she set her mind to that the very thought that she required assistance left him in awe. But by her expression alone, he knew that she had truth to her words, and that she truly needed assistance.
"I understand..." His own expression changed to one of the utmost seriousness, well, as much as he could given who he was. He truly took this job seriously, because it wasn't about him and his duty, it was about the person with the request. They were far more important than he was at this very moment.
It took but a moment for him to reach to the pouches on his hip and pull out a small piece of parchment and a charcoal pencil. He couldn't do this without information. "I need a name, an appearance, their age, their last known location, their occupation at the time, if they had one, any close friends they may have had in the area, any potential enemies, what their plans had been before you lost contact... And any other information that you may deem important. The more you can give, the better chance we have finding them."
He paused for a moment, considering his next words carefully. This was always the hardest part for him... "If we find them, what would you like us to tell them? And would you want to know if they perished or not?"

Her dark eyes watched as he took out a paper and charcoal to take notes. V'demhe frowned then and reached out to cover his hand that held the writing utensil. With a small shake of her head she did her best to not appear as though she were anything but upset. "There isn't much to give." With a glance back toward her home the alkidike takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. "The child in there, Valharii, she is the product of a slave mother and owner father." Granted the girl called Dem her mother now. "I would adopt her as my own, fully, but I need to know what happened to her mother. If her mother lives then Valharii can return to her. If not.. then I will raise her as my own." She hoped that by now the boy understood what it was she was asking. "I would give Valharii what is best." Even if it meant that she had to give the beautiful girl up.

Though Xewai's fingers were ready to move as soon as she started speaking, he had not expected for her own to come over and stop him before he even began. Then she spoke and he could feel his own heart sink down to his feet, and his ears drooped down just a bit, knowing that the situation would be impossible to resolve.
"Miss V'demhe... There are so many people in our world who have that same situation... There have been countless requests similar to yours, people searching for their mother or father, but... But there is no information to go on. Even my own story is similar, but I do have names... But for this, we have nothing, nothing at all..." The young waterling felt horrible giving her such a response, but it was truth.
"How long have you had her? Did she come with any tokens from her family? If that is something, then we can search... But if too much time has passed, there may not even be anyone searching for her.. Miss V'demhe, if I could be so bold... It really would just be best to adopt her as your own. She would not be happy to have known such love and kindness as you have provided, then have that taken away in favor of someone claiming to be her parents. She loves you and wants you. So... Let her stay happy that way. That is what is best."

She nodded her head as he spoke freely to her. V'demhe did understand. But she had to try. "That might be what is best for her, but for myself.. I need to know." The woman couldn't adopt a child if their mother was looking for them. In her eyes it was like stealing. So the Alkidike took her hand off Xewai's and looked at his pencil. "She speaks in her sleep. Her mother's name was... is.. Wyina." Dem had gotten that much out of the sleeping girl while she had been trying to soothe her. Though at the time she had thought that Valharii was awake and upset due to a dream. "I found Valharii in the east quarter near the arenas." V'demhe hoped that the girl had been from that area. Or at least there would be someone there that knew her.

"I will do my best, Miss V'demhe... But please, Do not think on it too much. She IS your child. Don't make her feel like anything less." Xewai quickly jotted down the notes, the name... The location. Not many people escaped the Arena.. He wouldn't say that out loud though.
"Is there anything else, Miss? Do you have anything else you'd like me to do?" He didn't want to lave her side just yet. Thing thing she wanted to do, who she was looking for.. Who else could she even talk to about it? Maybe her mate, but would he understand?
Xewai did the only thing he could think of... He took V'demhe's hand in his own and squeezed it tight, smiling up to her with that same, goofy smile he always had.
"I am here for you! And I will be for as long as you need me!"

The fact that Xewai thought that she would treat Valharii like anything other than one of her own was insulting. Not that she said as much or even let it show on her face. He was new to the way she worked so she couldn't hold it against him. The task she wanted him to do was simply for the benefit of herself but she would also share with the child if she learned that the girl's mother lived. "No, nothing else for now. Just keep it quiet I don't want the kids to know before anything is known." If there was anything to know. As Xeway said he was there for her she smiled at him and chuckled. "Thank you, that is very kind."

Xewai was the first to admit he didn't have the slightest idea that went through a parent's mind. But he knew what it was like to be that sad, lonely child who lost their mom and dad.
It honestly didn't take all that long for him to reach his canoe, and it was just as he left it, covered in sand and smelling of fish. Not a very pleasant smell, that was to be certain. He would have to remember to clean his fishing net properly when the sun rose once more.
"I will do what I can, Miss V'demhe.. Maybe the next time I see you I'll have some proper information for you."

When they reached the canoe she wrinkled her nose a little and shook her head. "I think you need to clean your boat." V'demhe chuckled at him. Looking him over she took a breath. "Be careful. If you can't get the information safely then don't worry about it." She smiled at him. Dem didn't want him to risk injury to get what she wanted.

"Hehe... Yeah, it kinda got smelly in the sun, but don't worry, I'll clean it up in the morning!" With that, he began to push his boat back into the water. He'd actually have to wade pretty deep in order to get it over the lazily breaking waves, but that was no biggie! He had done it many times before.
"Don't you worry, Miss V'demhe! I have been doing this for years and years and YEARS. If I can't find any information, no one would be able to!"
Heras Box GEESH I HAD TO DIG TO FIND THIS, SORRY!

Kapoodles XD Poods forgot about me! T^T She watched as he pushed the boat into the waves. Dem wanted to shake her head and just look away but instead she couldn't help but laugh at him. Moving into the water, not caring about if her clothes got wet or not, she helped him to move the canoe past the breaking waves. "Just remember not to let anyone know you are doing this for me, Xewai." It would be cruel of her to get anyone's hopes up. So she wanted this to be as secretive as possible.
