Losing everything he loved had reinforced that idea. Extremely dispirited and depressed, he was so consumed by his dark thoughts that he nearly gave into them so as not to feel anymore. As an adult, he comes to accept his life. He is not cursed, but he is being hunted. He's honest, and helpful. But quiet in some ways--he's about to be pushed into doing more, willing or not. Never willing to be a leader, he's forced with having to make life or death decisions at crucial moments. Ultimately, it pushes him to become a leader. He's dependable, loyal, kind, skilled, and many other qualities that help him to protect others from having the same thing happen to them that happened to him. He renews his vow at the loss of his beloved. He has to find purpose through this pain. Quirks/Character Traits: ✶ Has a fondness for anything Feline and acts quite feline in nature himself. ✶ He drinks blood, when he needs a quick fix Diavolos aka Sippy offers his blood as payment for an old debt. Karloff never kills for blood. ✶ Hates skinwalkers, especially Baraccus whom he blames for the "death" of Ailbhe and all he holds dear. ✶ Champion of the weak and is raising his own army to combat against it. ✶ Has a strangely normal friendship with Haxan who is vastly different than him. Backstory: Mysterious events were transpiring on the day of Karloff’s birth---the Blood Moon Carnival was in town. What made it odder still was that the cosmos had deemed it fit for the Blood Moon Carnival to be there on a blood moon, or maybe that was the only way it could come? However, it’s affect on a certain family would prove devastating. Karl was born to a loving and doting family who had long hoped for a blessed child. When Karl was born, he was perfect in their sight. Their whole life and world revolved around their tiny perfect new member….but it was not long before the curse of the blood moon became evident on him. While his father went to hunt, Karl and his mother were napping in their forest cave. It was warm and cozy, bedded with straw. Firelight danced on the walls as wonderful visions occupied Karl’s head. During the middle of one of these dreams, the nightmare began. For a long time Karloff remembered things as follows (RP development reflects his discovering of the truth): At first, Karl didn’t realize that this was anything more than some distorted nightmare, some looming danger that may or may never come. His eyes flickered open and shut, drowsy…But when the terror became evident, he was wide awake and helpless. Too young, too weak… When it was over, his father arrived to find the walls splayed with blood in some pattern faintly reminiscent of paint thrown on a wall. The mother of his son was dead. His son…was his son no longer. Karl felt the searing pain, when he woke up. He didn’t remember much yet and wouldn’t for a long time. He just remembered blinding pain when he awoke, and the warm, sticky wet feeling on his face. He saw his father’s face, pain wracked and then furious. Not understanding when his father left so abruptly, he thought he would return shortly to help, to take care of him, to--something. But his father, Klaus, did not return. For three days, Karl sat within the cave waiting, until he realized he was alone. He was completely alone. Over time, Karloff realize that his subconscious had blocked what really happened. His mother had been murdered by Barracuss, and it was Karloff himself, in an effort to save his father Klaus from the waiting Barracus, that yelled at his father to leave or he would kill him like had killed his mother. Baraccus had held him for a long time, until one night he escaped the caves and made it to freedom. Karloff does not remember any of this until adulthood. When he does, he swear to protect his family from Baraccus at all costs. *** After he buried his mother, he discovered the extent of his injuries when he took a sip of water from an unfrozen stream. His face was scarred, hideous…It didn’t particularly bother him, until he met some other Soquili who mocked him and cast him out from their lands. He was a child, but they made fun of him for his deformity and blamed him for his mother’s death. For weeks, he kept away from anyone else. He became reclusive, disassociated from life. He renamed himself, taking on the name of Karloff---the face of monsters. He thought about what was of left him, and he decided that he would follow the path to become a cursed skin walker. If he was a monster, if he was so evil, then he should take on it’s form. It would bring on a sweet release, he wouldn’t ever feel guilty again. No one would mock him. But until that time, he would wear the costume of one to hide his deformities.

The Continuing Story...
Karloff finds himself grown and discovering that he had too much humanity to wish to lose it forever (courtesy of Terra Stryker), he sought out a path of redemption, understanding and to answer the questions he desperately needed to know.
But he was plagued by another curse. One night, the bite he received burned into his skin, he felt strange at first. But something, he had felt long before resurfaced. The thirst for blood.
However, he refuses to take the life of anyone. He despises the taste of flesh he has to sink his teeth through to reach the blood. In short, he only allows himself the willing victims.
This occurred in a very strange companion--Diavlos the Raccoon. Mischievous by nature, and tormenting of Karloff he has proven himself as a "lucky charm."
Since Karloff has allowed him to remain with him, despite the annoying little fellow's general self, he has experienced less animosity and bad luck---the only reason Diavlos is allowed to stay.
Frequently, he uses Diavlos, who doesn't seem to mind too much, as blood bank or as Diavlos likes to call himself--"The Walking Sippy Cup." The two have since formed a strong bond.

Karloff has fallen in love with Ailbhe and has started a life with her and taking in the basket, Lucian, who's mother Jessamine cannot care for him. However, his early memories of the event of his mother's death are being entirely rewritten and a dangerous old foe has resurfaced.
For the first time in his life, he remembers the true events that transpired on the night his mother died--how Barraccus, the pure walker was the one who killed his mother and forced Karloff to run his father away or that he would kill him.
With these memories resurfaces the threat of Barraccus, that he will take everything Karloff loves for as long as he lives. It is because of this that Karloff decides to finally accept his leadership roll and do whatever it takes to bring down Barraccus once and for all.

After an attack on his family, Karloff believes that Ailbhe is dead killed by Barracus. With the love of his life gone, Karloff is desolate and trying to find not only redemption but revenge.

Meaning of (name): Combination of D&D literature, revised. One of the words was the name of a serpentine kingdom, and the other one of the deities they worshipped. Aliases: Semmy Date Found: May 28, 2010/ Won November 24, 2010 Found: User Run Co-Own ContestDate of Maxing: January 1, 2012 Temper: Covetous (having or showing a great desire to possess something, typically something belonging to someone else.) Breed: Kirin/Kalona Mutant Breed Appearance: Thunderhawk Serpent Height: 15.2 hands. Personality: Semmy is a covetous creature. What she wants, she wants and she won't stop until she gets it. She is keen as a dragon on anything gold and thinks highly of those she thinks are dragons. Since her falling out with the harpies, she disdains them and views most as enemies to herself. Semmy though is not without kindness. She will protect the things she cares for fiercely despite the risk for her life and she is generous with things that she does not have an obsessive love for. She is very set in her ways, and will only change them if she feels like it. She admires loyalty. Even though she fell out with the Flock, she believes males are to be owned and bred with, with them having little say on the matter. They're for breeding purposes only, and must be equals to her in the way of wings. She's not going to sire any ground-walkers.... Semmy has a toxic bite that causes partial paralysis where the bite occurs, it can vary greatly with it's potency (basically whoever she RP with decides how much they want the effect to be). Backstory: Semuan-Ya Vasszuraj was born to a herd of Thunderhawk Serpents. However, there were not many of them and soon what was left of the herd disbanded and it's inhabitants scattered to the winds. Semuan-Ya looking for a clan of some sorts joined the Harpies where she was ill-suited to stay. After fighting amongst her sisters, she left to find her own way injured and furious. Drawn to treasure and dragons, Semmy searches for them relentlessly.

The Continuing Story...
After a falling out with a Flock member that left her maimed and close to death, Semmy stumbled along using sheer force of will to live. Over the days of delirium, of her her wounds festering she decided she would make the Flock pay. Whether that ever comes to fruition or not is another story.
Meeting Raivis the dragonfly, she mistook him for a dragon--someone strong to sire children with. She'll be disappointed to say the least when she realizes her mistake. |

Meaning of (name): Bedford- named after Bedford Falls, the small town from It's a Wonderful LifeAliases: Bed, Ford, Date Found: 12/25/10 Found: Christmas Plush Conversion  Date of Maxing: February 1, 2012 Temper: Perseverence Breed: Ceryeni Breed Appearance: Ceryeni Height: 16 Personality: A selfless, starry-eyed dreamer. Adventurous in thought, with a mind to go places. However, his self-doubt and eventually responsibilities will keep him from doing so for awhile. He has an aversion to corruption and those who demean others. Bedford also experiences deafness or at least partial deafness in his right ear (far ear) Quirks/Character Traits: ✶ Deafness in his right ear from an accident sustained as a foal ✶ Brought Acacia to Arden to have her healed and co-raised her with Arden. ✶ Fell in love almost immediately with Xing-Xing ✶ Hates the mud and being separated from those he loves ✶ Family, love, and honour mean everything to him but is in direct juxtaposition with his idea of freedom. The Continuing Story...
His first and only true adventure was finding the foal Acacia after a devastating forest fire..She was close to death. Hurrying, he found the healer Arden who did everything in his power and more to save the foal. For awhile, Bedford was left to care for her while Arden went to retrieve some healing items.
Miracuolousy Acacia was healed, but Bedford always suspected something supernatural had occurred. Working together, they formed a bond of friendship to raise the foal since they were both bachelors.
He has remained neutral in the arguments that plague Acacia and Arden and is often the voice of true wisdom.
As for other adventures, life had different plans in store for him. He would never leave the lands he was born in, and he would never have grand and epic adventures like he planned. Instead, he would meet the mare he fell madly in love with and have a reason to stay, to raise a family.
At first, he imagined he'd experience disappointment and maybe some bitterness, not at his family, but for failing to accomplish any of his dreams. However, He fell in love with Xing-Xing and realized that family is with you and shares your beliefs. Together, they could roam the world and have a family together. |
