Mary, Mary, quite contrary. How does your garden grow? Mary smiled to herself, feeling the blood run down her face. It was time to plant the seeds. Pretty well literally. She had work to do, children to help. She came out of her grave a Goddess. Her children would not be quite as blessed, but as each pulled free of the loam on their own, as each faced the moment of realization, that no one was going to help them, they would grow strong. They could only rely upon themselves, her children. It was a lesson she never tired of teaching.
Her mirror floated behind her, waiting, ready. She knew her drill. She watched for her children, and would come upon them, each alone and unaware. They never saw her coming until she was ready for them. Mary Mary, time to make the garden grow.

 Bedford was looking for Acacia. She was after all, partly his responsibility. He knew that she hated for him to look after her, that she was fine on her own. But time and time again, she had proven that notion wrong. She wasn't able to care for herself as well as she thought or else she wouldn't get in trouble all the time. After she hadn't shown up at their meeting yesterday, an agreed time that she would set aside her independence to see Arden and him, he had worried. She had always been there no matter how mad or otherwise. She was always there...unless something was wrong. He was too concerned with wondering if she was okay, rather than watching the trap closing in around him.

Mary slid her mirror around to stand before Bedford as she moved silently up behind him, a flick of her tail sending the responsive Taphos into the bushes. She slid up behind him, and waited for her awesome presence to be noted.

Bedford stopped as the glinting reflection beamed back at him. His first instinct was to turn, and he looked behind himself to find the bloody body there. His first thought was, what had she done to Acacia. He tried to steady his breathing, but he couldn't help the quaver in his throat. "You...what did you do to my friend?"

He was friends with one of the feather heads? Or did he mean some one else? Hard to be sure, but she was a Goddess, she could not show that doubt before a mere mortal. "I am here for you, child." Let us just say she did not sound comforting.

"Here for me?" He could feel the cold hollowness of it as he fell on his ear. "What do you mean...here for me?" His heart started thudding loudly in his his ears.

"I don't want your blessing!" He backed up a step, feeling his heart thudding heavily. "I don't want anything to do with you, and I won't fall to my knees." He turned to leave.

She moved so that she was in his way, the mirror moving to flank him. "It is not wise to disrespect a Goddess. We give few chances to beg for forgiveness."

Bedford bit back the the angry retort. Something in him was waking up, telling him not to challenge her. It was time he heeded that voice. "What...do you want with me?" He spoke calmer.
