The wind blows over him as he nestles close to her. His sweet Ailbhe who has loved him when he could not even love himself—all that time ago, somehow she saw the good in him or maybe she just hoped it was there. It was her faith that helped him to become who he is now, to make him want to be better.
He’d faced his demons, he’d fought his wars. He had come to accept the truth of the matter. He was going to be okay, there was no desire to do evil. There was a desire for love.
For a long time, he didn’t ask himself anything else.

Yet on this night as the cold winter winds blew as he nestled to his love—he realized that there was something indefinable. It took him days to place it. After feeling lost for so long, it was hard to understand the feeling of “found.”
More and more as he greeted others, as he met Amelia Nox and others like her he came to realize that he had found something.
What was it? What feeling was this? It came upon him simply like a light caress from Ailbhe as he drifted off into sleep. He had found a purpose.

With this sense of purpose there came understanding. He had endured, he had suffered, and he was now alive and well—uniquely qualified to show others that it can be done. You can overcome. You can learn to love. You can quell the demons inside of you and force them to be silent if only you desire to. All you have to do is try the best you can, with everything you are.
Karloff would be a testament to that. Try hard enough and you can succeed, love long enough and you can find it, and have faith strong enough that nothing can break you. There will be dark times, there will be happy—but the thing that changes it all is choice.
Your choice decides your fate, it was now his job to prove that. It’s your choice that defines you, not how or where you were born or what you look like. It is who you chose to be.
