User Image
Age: 23
Orientation: Heterosexual
Height: 5'8"
Affiliation: Trainee

Appearance: Pretty much everything he's wearing currently.

Personality:
Focused- Once he sets his mind on something, he usually pushes through to try and get it done. This also applies for things he doesn't necessarily really want to do but feels obliged to do so for whatever reason. He has no problem with working hard and isn't distracted too easily.

Rational- He tries to make his decisions for what would be the best overall outcome. And if it's in an efficient manner, that just makes it even better for him.

Stoic - He doesn't display a great deal of emotion and his expression is typically fairly neutral. In most situations, he can keep a level head and clear mind. However, he finds it difficult to understand a number of emotions or the way people act at times. In this manner, he's also somewhat emotionally inept, and in turn probably comes off and cold or callous to most others.

Cutthroat- He has no qualms with getting his hands dirty. There are a couple of things he won't do, but for others, he can carry out wrong deeds and feel no remorse for it. This is especially the case if there's something that he needs to do. More likely than not, he'll do it by any means necessary.

Blunt - He's often to the point when he speaks and doesn't really try to be particularly tactful in most cases.

Illiterate - He has received some schooling, but he never learned to read.

Likes: Being active, running, training, his personal space, quiet
Dislikes: Hunger, crowds, noisy areas, people,

History:
Born in raised in the slums of the outer wall, Shun practically lived on the streets for most of his life. He ran with a small street gang, taking what they needed to get by.Over time, he's come to be somewhat dissatisfied with that way of life as he wanted to figure out some sort of purpose. Sure, he had been surviving, but there wasn't a great deal to it. A certain altercation at one point left him feeling bitter about them as well. By that point, most of the others were dead. Some time after that, upon spotting the Scouting Legion as they were leaving the city walls for one of their missions, an idea of sorts came to mind.

The military was an option, perhaps. He was athletic and could hold his own in a fight. Adaptable. If he could get in, he wouldn't have to worry so much about finding that next meal or getting shanked in his sleep. It would be dangerous, but he had no ties to anyone any longer anyway.

Family: Shun has no known living relatives at this time. His mother died early enough that he never really knew her. His father, Kaitou, died when he was at the age of 7.

Random info:
-He has some rudimentary cooking skills currently.
-Favorite colors include black and gold.
-Has a few scars on his body aside from the one visible.
-His alcohol tolerance is extremely poor.
-Will not share his food in most cases.
-Enjoys climbing and doing parkour; being up in high places.
-Likes listening to music; if he knows a house has a musician in it, he may sometimes chill on their rooftop to listen.
-Has a high pain thresh hold.

[Thoughts on people]

Kaitou Kuroda: [Dead] Was my father. He was an a*****e. End of story.
Ayumi Kuroda: [Dead] I don't really know. I never knew her.
Wolfgang Maria:[Dead] He was alright. One of the more sensible ones of those I ran with. He taught me how to cook, along with a few other things.
Gregor "Mouse" Smith:[Dead] Annoying. Skilled, but twitchy as ********. I don't think he was capable of relaxing.
Alicia Maria:[Dead] I'd rather not think about her.
Kristoff Baur:[Dead] Or him either.
Takeshi Morimoto:[Dead?] Or this b*****d too for that matter.
Nekoda "Kody" Ross[Alive] I owe her more than I'd like to admit. I'll repay the favor. Someday.
Danny Fitzgerald : [Alive]She's obnoxious and does not respect my personal space. The urge to punch her in the face has crossed my mind more than once. She also would waste food willingly and freely.
Nyyrikki Synkka : [Alive]He seems somewhat more bearable than Danny, though seems to have latched onto her. No other opinion at this time.
Cyril Lor : [Alive]Another annoying little t**t. I don't think he likes me either, which is fine. Maybe he'll leave me alone, then.
Preacher Maria: [Alive]Fellow street rat, though younger. His gang and mine were on relatively friendly terms before. He seems alright for the most part.
Alec Scott: [Alive]Don't have much of an opinion of him yet. He hasn't gotten on my nerves yet, so there's that.
Shakuntala Tischendorf: [Alive]Shy girl with some really ******** spicy curry.
Elliot Lindstrom: [Alive] Flower boy. He's kind of quiet and he gave me some food, but at the expense of some humiliation on my part. Not sure how to feel about him.
Zinnea [Alive] An incredibly naive girl who's currently enlisted. She talks too much.
Lloren[Alive] Another trainee. I'm not really certain what to make of her.
Saga[Alive] Some soldier within the Military Police. He's rather... eccentric. Possibly stupid.
The bald men [Alive] I don't know how many there are out there but they're all ******** assholes.

-Organizations and other things-

Military as a whole: A sort of necessity. I didn't like them getting into my business. But now I'm with them so their business is mine. At least I won't be starving on the streets.
Military Police: Bunch of ********. I'm staying the hell away from them, even if I make the marks to get in. I don't want to deal with them or the little shits they'd have to clean up.
Stationary Guard: I don't feel too strongly about them either way. Had a few run ins with them in the past, though.
Survey Corps: People think they're a waste of resources. People probably feel the same way about the slums and the likes of me. There's some common ground there I guess.
Wallists: They're crazy and their preaching is annoying. I'm fine if they leave me alone.
Titans: They're big and they're dangerous, but not currently an active threat I guess.
The walls: I'm not really sure how to feel. On one hand, they're supposedly keeping the titans out. On the other... space and resources are so ******** limited because of them.

((Originally was gonna be my writing prompt entry but just turning it into a solo instead.))

Solo:...
Slum Life

These run down alleys and buildings were all too familiar for Shun. He knew this area as if it were the back of his hand, really. All of the little nooks and shortcuts that could be found were within his realm of knowledge. He grew up in these streets. And he’d likely die in them too if something didn’t change. It was tiresome, really. Each day went by and he wasn’t ever certain if he’d be able to find another meal. Several times already, he had nearly starved to death. Hunger wasn’t even the only concern.

Growing up here, he had made some friends, but furthermore, plenty of enemies. The little shed that he had claimed as his current home was hardly secure. Each night he slept lightly and with a small knife under his makeshift pillow. His back was always to the wall if possible. Disturbances in the area, even if they were just a rat scurrying by would wake him. Some might call him paranoid, but he hasn’t been killed in his sleep thus far. That was enough for him.

Tonight, he planned on dealing with some of those foes, but not quite in a direct manner. He knew a small group of rivals had some food, and he was hungry enough to go right for it. The past day or so, he hadn’t been so lucky with scrounging up anything for himself. Keeping his breath slow and steady, he crouched down behind a set of rickety crates. Darkness was pretty prevalent, but the little gang had a small fire going to stave off the cool night air. Five of them sat around, bantering among themselves and enjoying a meal of their own. Some of their food was sitting out not too far off, within one of the boy’s line of sight. He paused while watching them all, considering his options. The one nearest him had her back turned. Shun figured he could grab onto her and place a blade up to her throat and demand the food.

That wouldn’t get him very far, though. Not this time. Letting out a slow breath, he picked up a small stone. Seeking out a target in the area, he soon chucked it at a bottle some distance away. The pebble bounced off of it, knocking it down with a clatter.

“What was that?” one of the young men asked while turning towards the source. The group was momentarily distracted. Their eyes were off of the platter of meager food. He took this time to creep forth to shove the morsels into a satchel. This little gang probably didn’t have much more than what was here right now. Times were tough, especially in this area. But it was either him or them, and he owed those people nothing as far as he was concerned. Some may consider him selfish for it, but he had to look out for himself before anyone else. No one else was going to. Not anymore.

Of course, his method of distraction wouldn’t last him long. He knew this, and sure enough, one of the five had turned back to see him there.

“Oi! You little shithead!” he boomed out.

Shun took no time to start running at that point. There were too many of them for him to safely fight all at once right now. He could attempt to draw them out one by one to deal with them that way, but losing them was currently more ideal. Hunger did too well to limit his strength. Running from a fight wasn’t something he liked, but tactical retreats were necessary at times. He had to use what energy he had to get away somewhere safe for now.

Shun let out a breath as he clutched onto the small satchel of food. He didn’t bother looking behind him; he could hear them yelling angrily all too well. Up ahead seemed to be a dead end as a wooden fence stood in his way. He quickly scanned the area ahead to try and seek out the most efficient route around this obstacle, noting the barrels nearby. As lightly as he could, he stepped up onto the barrel, then vaulted himself over the fence. On the other side, he landed cleanly with a light thud. For a moment, he closed his eyes as fatigue struck him. It would have cost him more if he had tried to climb the fence normally, but it still took a toll given his current state. He cursed lowly under his breath, shaking his head, then continued to flee.

A clatter could be heard behind. It sounded like one of them had fumbled over the fence. All the better for himself. It wasn’t easy to see in the dim light, but he at least was managing for now. Noticing some loose planks off to the side up ahead, he reached over as he passed by and hurled them down, hoping that they would catch anyone that might be a little too close for comfort. It worked. A little more precious time was bought.

Eventually, he had managed to shake off his pursuers for the time being. He slumped down against a wall, breathing heavily to catch his breath. Finally, he opened his little sack to claim his prize. All that trouble for a half loaf of bread and a few strips of jerky. He was tired of this. Always being hungry and just barely scraping to get by.

Event:...
100 Years of Peace Festival

Grand Opening
Get into a fight and end up getting recruited into the military. What the ******** are the odds of that? This is the change I've been wanting. I'll still be fighting for my life, but it won't be the same. I hope.

Banquet
The city put up a huge a** free banquet. I've never seen so much food in my life. Some jackasses ended up trashing the place, wasting most of it, though. Then again, maybe the nobles or whoever should try putting some of those resources into cleaning up and reforming the damn slums instead. I suppose that's something that will never happen, though.

Parade
I think I hate parades.

Bonfire
Where the ******** did all those bald men come from? Seriously. That was almost like a nightmare in its own right.

Solo:...
Guardian and Captor

The festival was over finally. Shun had managed to get some decent meals out of it, as well as a way into the military, but he was glad it was over. Perhaps his papers would soon be fully processed as well. Climbing his way up to one of the roofs, finding the fastest and most efficient way up to the top, he soon let out a breath while staring at the outermost wall. Maria. The sun had set hours ago and night had settled quite nicely in the city. Even in the darkness, though, he could see the looming fortifications in the distance. Somewhere down below, he could hear a Wallist preaching out his words about how great and sacred the three walls were. He was too far off to hear things clearly, but he didn't really need to in order to have an idea of what was being said.

Carefully, he sat down on the shingles and leaned against the small chimney that stuck up. Wallists were annoying, to say in the least, but he was able to ignore them for the most part. As for the walls themselves...

Those were considerably harder to not notice. The man tilted his head a bit in thought, examining Wall Maria from afar. They were certainly impressive, given their massive size. And technically, they were keeping them safe from the titans that lurked outside. That was nice in its own right, but he could never bring himself to worship them like they were god's gift to mankind. While they shielded them from the dangers outside, it felt too restricting. Like a cage. Land was limited and therefore resources were as well. And there were a s**t load of people here. He had to wonder if the slums would be in as pisspoor of a condition they were in if they were allowed beyond the walls. If they could claim more resources that could potentially help keep everyone fed.

Shun tilted his head, then let out a light but bitter scoff. Well maybe things would be like that. Or maybe the noble fatheads would snatch up all of that as well. And then do something stupid and even more greedy such as impose a heavy tax to be able to access these resources despite there technically being enough for everyone at that point. But for all he knew, maybe the outside world was a barren wasteland. There might be nothing out there but s**t. Or it could be a lush paradise. Most likely it was somewhere in between. If it was completely desolate, there probably would be less reason for the Scouting Legion to go on their missions. Or maybe it would have the complete opposite effect. He'd find out eventually. As of now, he still intended on joining the Scouting Legion eventually, once his training was through. Maybe in a way, he wanted to be able to see the answer for himself... If the walls were guardians of mankind of or if they were simply its captors.

He shook his head and pushed himself back up to his feet. The man continued to eye dark silhouette of the walls while resting a hand on the chimney nearby. Speculating wasn't going to get him anywhere, really. The answer will come in time. Or maybe not. Most likely not. This was how things are, though, whether he liked it or not. He had his own life to worry about more first and foremost. Change was coming, with his enlisting, but he didn't expect things to get much easier. The issue of hunger would be solved, but he wasn't so naive to believe that he was going to be completely off the hook. Hardships would come. That was something that would never change. However, he would welcome a different sort of hardship from what he had been facing all his life. Honestly, he felt that his live expectancy wasn't going to be that much different from what it was if he had stayed out on the streets, in the slums with no allies. The streets were dangerous enough, but worse yet when you only had enemies and no friends. Any night he could easily be jumped and that would be the end of his story.
