xxxxxRaucuous laughter erupts from under a tented awning that is soon drowned out under a cacophony of conversation and the clinks and clanks of dishes. The rich smell of curry and spice fill the air and beckon all passerby to come and taste the food. Whether you are familiar to the exotic scents or it is a completely foreign substance to you is another matter altogether, for you find yourself drawn to the booth anyway. While the second half of the booth serving as a restaurant is interesting, something else piques your curiosity.
xxxxxPainted crudely on a plank of wood and strung up on a peg by what would be considered the counter of the booth is a sign that reads, "Taste Test! Test your luck!" Approaching it, yours sights come upon a girl is a red shirt and string apron staring down at her twiddling thumbs with an eager shake of her leg. When she spies your feet from your downcast view, her umbra eyes flick up, and you two hold an unwarranted staring contest for a handful of seconds before her mouth cracks open to speak.
xxxxxSuddenly, an older woman bursts into what could've been the start of a beautiful conversation. "You there!" she says in a shout that could deafen an elephant. "I see you've been eying this little sign here!" She pinches the corner of the slab of wood and points it in your direction to emphasize this. Letting it go, it clattered back on the peg it hung from and swung like a pendulum as the woman began talking. "Would you like to give it a try? First try is free!"
xxxxxBefore you had a chance to either express your enthusiasm for the food or deny any chance at an offer that seemed far too good, the woman, Kamla, clasped a hand on her daughter's shoulder and pulled her to standing. "Shakuntala, bring some plates!" she ordered with a chirp in her tone. "Come, come!"
xxxxx"Ah- R-Right..." The short-haired girl nodded her head and scratched the pink mar on the side of her chin. Turning on her heel, she listlessly headed to the bubbling pots in the back of the booth.

Danny thundered into the area with Shun wrapped around her arm still (she wouldn't let him escape! No sir!). This lady had practically beckoned her personally, and that was a big deal.
"See! I told you this place was great!" The smells, the sounds- Danny loved the noisy atmosphere. It was so much better than her parents' stuffy silent booth. She wanted noise and action- just like this place!
She gestured to Shun and then looked back at the lady inviting her to eat. "We want to try some of your food! Don't we?" Come to think of it, she still didn't know this guy's name. Awkward.

Shun smelled it long before he saw it. And once it hit him, his stomach let out another growl. There was a sign present, but he ignored it and just focused on what was happening here. It was really noisy here, which he really didn't care for, but he'd have to deal with it. Danny was far more annoying, anyway. Since she was putting him through this, he let her do the talking. The food here wasn't something he had eaten before. A lot of the things he ate were fairly dry and easy to carry around in some fashion. Grabbing a loaf of bread or something like that was generally easier than taking a whole plate of food. He did have some soups and stews that he was sort of able to cook on his own whenever he had enough things. It still wasn't anything like this, however.

Kamla flicked her head up from the ledger she held within her hand. Offering the two a spry smile, she nodded in affirmation. "Of course," she responded, before hefting her chin over her shoulder and crying out, "Two more, Shakuntala!"
The seventeen year old nearly tripped over her own two feet with the roar her mother had delivered to her. With an internal grumble, she dipped her head in response and scuttled back to the back of the recesses of the serving area where she would've preferred staying for the rest of the festival. At least, there, she wouldn't be forced to be an unpaid waitress.
Kamla guided the duo to an empty table. "Have a seat and make yourself comfy," she said with a homely tone.
Whenever the two were seated, Shakuntala approached them with two plates of the usual. Her eyes flicked between them curiously, but she never expressed a want to converse.
"...E-Enjoy..."
She slipped the meals before Danny and Shun in acquiesce and left in just the same manner -- returning to the counter and to handle payments.

Danny liked this woman a lot. She was friendly and really made the place feel welcoming. Danny placed her tush in one of the seats offered and gestured that Shun should do the same.
"Gee thanks!" she said to both the older lady and the younger one. "It's nice to meet you guys. My name's Danny. Danny Fitzgerald. Like the spice company? Do you guys use our spices in your curry? That would be so cool." Danny rattled on like a broken doll, filling all the gaps in conversation that Shun was leaving.
Even as the girl receded behind the counter once more, Danny leaned over her chair to talk to her. "Are you guys from around here?" She looked over to Shun as if to say yes I'm asking you too.

Shun let out a sort of grunt before seating himself as well. He didn't seem entirely enthusiastic about being here. This girl, Danny, certainly enjoyed to blather on, didn't she? Rather than saying anything yet, he was trying to figure out if there was a way to shut her up perhaps. Needless to say, he wasn't in the greatest of moods right about now. Soon, food was placed down before him. And damn, it smelled good. He took no time to pick up his spoon and begin eating ravenously. Several bites in, he mumbled, "...This is really good."He nearly didn't catch the question Danny had shot at them both. "We're all from this damn city, aren't we?" he snarked.

Shakuntala only paid half her attention to Danny's questions. It was Kamla who heeded the redhead any real concern, but when she opened her mouth to speak, her attention was hailed down by the swing of an arm to a table in the back of the tented awning. The seventeen year old's mother tapped her shoulder in passing as a silent, "You handle this," as she excused herself from the conversation to pay heed to that customer. The spur of moment, combined with Danny's hardly conscious questions and a man approaching to pay for his meal threw the wallflower into a confused stupor.
A flip of a few bills and a clatter of a box ended with a coin bouncing from the man's hand and rolling to the edge of the counter. As swiftly as she could, the short-haired girl caught it before it bounced to the floor. Mumbling an apology, Shakuntala scooped the bills into a box located under the counter before finally gazing back to the two newest customers at her mother's booth.
"...I... I dunno. Maybe?" Shakuntala answered to Danny as stiffly as the plank of wood to her left. "I'll... I'll have to ask mum..." The sudden change of topic caught the girl off guard again. "R-Right... I guess we all are?"
Shakuntala dipped her head at Shun's comment. "I'll tell mum that."

Danny gasped as Shun admitted something that wasn't said in an angry voice. It was still mumbled, but it was a compliment. They were making progress!!
It quieted her enough for her to take a bite of the curry herself. It was warm and everything a curry was supposed to be. "Oh my god it IS good wow!!" She smiled at the girl behind the counter and gave a thumbs up as she began to noisily finish off her plate.
In between bites of food she said, "I'm from Trost." She turned to her compatriot, mood changing from that of jolly idiocy to serious seriousness. Well it was hard to look serious when she was tapping her spoon on her cheek. "You still haven't told me your name."
Danny bent over the chair to look at the girl behind the counter. "And you too! We have to know each other's names or it's like we don't really know each other at all!"

Shun was making quick work of the curry. It wasn't long before he finished his plate. It had been a little awhile since he had felt satisfied like that. It also helped improve his mood a touch for the time being, now that his stomach wasn't gnawing away at him with hunger. Wiping his mouth on his sleeve, he let out a breath, then shot Danny a glance as she brought up the need for his name. His gaze drifted between her and the other girl. "You just bloody met her. Of course you don't know each other at all," he stated flatly, ignoring the request for his own name for the time being. "Ignore her. She talks too much," he told the curry girl.

Shakuntala sheepishly scratched the back of her neck at the compliment. Even though it wasn't her cooking, being acknowledged enough was embarrassing. Realizing she hadn't given an introduction when prompted, the girl ducked her head with a wince as if she had been reprimanded by her mother. While having Shun stand his ground on the matter was nice, the girl didn't want to start up a disagreement.
"Ah- No... No, it's all right," she replied to Shun before turning to Danny. "My name's... Shakuntala. Tischendorf."

Danny stuck her tongue at Shun in a very childish fashion. "Nice to meet you Shakuntula!"
It was then that she noticed the booth had a sign that said "Taste Test! Taste your luck!"
It intrigued her. "Hey what's that?" she asked Shakuntula. "Taste your luck? Is your curry lucky?" Like a lucky rabbit's foot? That could be useful!
