You approach a small wooden stand with the words 'Trost Book Store Goldfish Scooping' painted on the top of it. Inside, the first thing you notice is a small pool of water. Upon a quick examination of the pool, you see that it is filled with small bubble-eyed goldfish swimming about. Next to the pool are some paper scoops. Behind the pool, however, is a girl who is looking at you over her book with mild disinterest .

The young lady sighs and sets the book down. "Welcome to Trost Book Store's goldfish scooping stand." She recites the words in a dull monotone. "You get three tries to scoop out a goldfish without breaking the scoop. If you win you get a voucher for a free book from the shop." In a less monotonous voice, she continues. "You have to put the goldfish back, though. The manager was too cheap to buy enough fish, so you don't get to keep it." She pauses. "That's what I'm supposed to say, anyway. Not the part about him being cheap, the part about not keeping the fish. I don't mind if you take them. I'll just say I was being 'friendly', and I shouldn't get in trouble. Probably." She turns her attention back to her book, but you catch a glimpse of her paying a small amount of attention to you every now and then.

Rules

• You may try to catch a goldfish 3 times per day.
• Each time you attempt to catch a goldfish, you must have it accompany an arpee post.
• Do not delete posts for any reason. If you forget to randomize, or put the wrong thing in, just make another post.

Catching a Goldfish

• Rolling a 100-sided die, match one of the five numbers I rolled above and below to catch a goldfish! (20, 35, 37, 42, and 97)
• Once you catch a goldfish, you may continue to post and roll to catch more goldfish until you have used the allowable times you have each day. (For example, if you catch a goldfish on your first try, you can still try twice more for the day. Then you can come back the next day and try to win again!)
• Each time you catch a goldfish, quote me so I can add you to the list of people who have caught goldfishes to be raffled off a tailor ticket at the end of the event!

Unused to the hustle and bustle of so many people in one place, Andrea had found herself naturally drawing away from the areas (and, consequently, the booths) with large groups of festivity revelers. She supposed that wasn't a particularly good thing, since all the more fun stuff would attract larger crowds, but...

Then she saw the bookstore, with a small goldfish booth and a rather bored looking employee in front of it. Somehow, the idea of the bookstore deciding to host a game involving a pool of water didn't seem like the smartest idea... But she was curious, so she went over anyway. Hearing the girl's explanation of the game, her eyebrows raised and she smiled. "Too cheap to give away goldfish, but gives away books instead?" Seeing that the booth manager wasn't inclined to talk, the question was rhetorical.

Deciding to give it a try (After all, why not?), she picked up a scoop and gently put it in the water; careful to be slow and not strain the paper. She managed to get a fish in her net, but brought it up to quickly and the paper snapped before reaching the surface of the shallow water.

Lenore gave a light shrug. "It's not like there will be many winners - it's kind of like a scam. Who can catch goldfish with a paper scoop? Besides, we don't get many customers, so the manager says that he'd be willing to give away a book or two to draw attention to the shop." She paused. "He also said not to tell people that, but whatever." The girl shrugged again to punctuate her sentence as she went back to reading.

Adalwolfa's eyes slid between the throng they had left in the dust and the unoccupied booth she was invited to visit. "Well, this is exciting," she said rather sarcastically to herself as she approached the small pool where small wish ambled their way in arcs and circles through their temporary home. She dipped her finger in to test the temperature, and when one of the small critters nipped harmlessly at her fingertip, she pulled away and looked at it an accusatory manner.

Reading over the sign, she tilted her head, "I've tried this before as a kid. Never could get the hang of it."

While shrugging off the activity was her best bet, she felt inclined to give the same goldfish that spooked her a run for its money. Plucking one of the fragile scoops from the pile, she followed the shimmering fish with her eyes. Her concentrating remained lock to it even when she pried one of the stolen loaves from her pocket and shoved it in her mouth with the other. Slowly, and carefully, she dipped the scoop into the water before the fish to see if she could catch it.

Her attempt was close, but no cigar. The paper to the scoop moistened just as she brought the goldfish to the surface and, released from its netting, it ambled its way back to freedom. Thinning her lips, Adalwolfa pulled the utensil from the water and tossed it stubbornly behind her shoulder.

"I don't even know why the hell I tried," she sighed.

Andrea was a little surprised that she got a response, but pleased. "But then, aren't all of these festival games scams?" Briefly, she wondered if the bookstore was actually open during the festival, or if it had been closed. If it was open, she'd have to pick up a book or two before she left for home. The trip was a rather long one, after all... "Hmm, that's a shame. People should read more..."

Seeing the newcomer, she huffed in amusement when they were startled by the nibbling fish. "I think that's the point." She grabbed a second net, willing to give it another go, and waited for the grey-haired girl to make her attempt. The less disturbances in the water, the higher her chances, right?

Not really having anything to say to their frustration when they failed to catch a fish, Andrea just gently dipped her net in and waited for one of the fish to get curious.

Alas, net did not appreciate being under the water so long and the fish practically swam through it, easily tearing the paper.

After Shun left to drop his papers off and when Danny and Rikki were nowhere in sight, Cyril found himself alone again. "Jeez I turn
away for one second and they leave me".

He approached a small stand enscribed with the title 'Trost Book Store Goldfish Scooping. Fish scooping? I guess it's worth a shot. He said. He grabbed one of the paper scoops which looked like it would break as soon as it touched the water. He waited until he could see fish and when the moment was right he made a strong scoop attempt to see if he could catch it

As he dipped his scoop in he ended up missing the fish completely. "Ugh" He said in frustration. "Why didn't I get it? I thought that one was mine for sure."

Anton sighed happily as he squeezed himself out of a dense crowd of people, his pockets full of coins and even some jewelry he snagged off of a few of the wealthier women. It helped that half the population at the festival was drunk. Walking toward an emptier booth, smiling from his earnings, he tentatively watched the people dipping papery scoops into the water and trying to catch the fish. He stared down at the fish as they swam around, and although he had no place to keep them, he wanted one. He scowled as he heard that he would not win a fish, but a book. Why would he need a book? Well, maybe he could get someone to teach him to read it but that was not really a likely possibility. He still wanted to play, competitiveness burning in his fingertips. He grabbed on the paper nets, dipping it in quickly, attempting to scoop up the bright orange fish.

After turning in his papers, Shun had returned to the festival area and resumed wandering about. At some point, he paused by one peculiar booth. Some people were trying to...scoop fish out of water? He hadn't exactly gone fishing before, but this seemed like an inefficient way to go about catching the creatures. He furrowed his brow in confusion, watching this going on.

Aside from the method, he wasn't really sure what the purpose of the fish was. It didn't really look too appetizing or anything like that.

"There he is! Get him!" Danny shouted, pointing directly at Shun's poofy head of black hair. Danny wasn't really one for stealth, and now was no exception.

She thundered towards the man and ran into his back at full speed (not enough to knock him over and into the fish, thankfully enough). "Found you found you! Shun Shun Shun."

Danny definitely wasn't letting his name get away.

Cyril gave the game up in frustration. Although after turning away from

the game he did spot a familiar face. It was Shun who had left to turn in his

recruitment papers not to long ago. Cyril put a hand up waving to Shun hoping

he would recognize him. He ran over to Shun. "Hey, how'd it go?" He said sternly.

Rikki rushed after Danny, but thankfully pulled short of actually ramming into them. "Hey! Did you get your papers turned in?"

He took a second to look at the booth and tried not to show how ridiculously excited he was. Catching fish! Except, when he spied a little sign saying they couldn't keep the fish, he deflated. He wanted to have a fish.

Lenore looked up at the gathered people all trying - and failing - to catch fish and gave a light snort at their expense. In her best attempt to be diplomatic, the girl set the book aside and addressed the frustrated attendees. "You can try again, if you want. You probably won't win, but you can."

Alec hadn't had much luck with socializing during yesterdays scruff, but this seemed easy enough. The small goldfish caught the red head boys eye. That and it was a book store based on the sign. Deciding to take a look see, what harm could it do? "But them back..? Alright it's not like I'd be good with a pet anyway." He looked sheepishly. "I'll give it a try I guess." He pulled off his glove from his left hand. Glancing at the booth manager, hesitant he grabbed a scoop.

Although he was careful it didn't seem to have much of an effect. His brow wrinkled some. Two more tries at least he reminded himself, warily eyeing the paper net. Alright this was ridiculous, it really WAS paper..Oh well. It couldn't hurt to keep trying. There were other booths of course but this one was the first that had caught his eye.

Seeing all the people suddenly come to the booth, Andrea stepped aside to let them all have a go at the easily frustrating game. She decided she'd try one more time, but not until after the current herd was done... After all, she still stood by the game being best played with as calm water as possible. Made the fish easier to herd into the net, and in theory the paper was less likely to break.

It was then that she saw the ally-rattish boy approach the pool, hastily grabbing a net and plunging it in to try and catch himself a fish. Her brow furrowed as she realized that he was possibly older than she had originally thought, just... Malnourished. She paused, mulling over an idea after remembering how horrified she'd been earlier, having gotten lost on her way to the festival and taking a stroll through one of the... Less fortunate areas of town.

Grabbing her last net, she crouched down next to him."Hello." She paused; dipping her net into the water and chasing a fish around with it, but her mind obviously elsewhere. "You know, you'll have better luck if you aren't so forceful with your net. The paper breaks too easily."
